Everything about the Nokia X6 the budget beast. - Nokia 6.1 Plus (X6) Guides, News, & Discussion

Nokia as a core brand in the world of mobiles has launched its budget beast which is the Nokia x6 which comes with a bezzel less display with a little tiny notch...that looks ****ty but still we have to accept that..cause it's the new trend..hurrah!!...****...but still you are getting a high-powered Nokia branded phone which is running under snap dragon 636
12 nm technology.....and you are getting a both 16 MP camera on both the sides of the phone....it's the only phone which will come with a notch in a budget section device list..and you are also going to get usb type c on this phone but the best point of buying this phone is for the Qualcomm quick charge 3.0 and yes it supports that.. above all you are going to get 19:9 screen to body ratio, Corning gorilla glass 3, adreno 509 GPU, android 8.1 out of the box and yeah the legendary NOKIA branding.

Bought the Nokia 6.1 Plus which is the Global AndroidOne version of the X6 and loving it so far!
Only 2 things i wish i had control of, maybe one of you XDA geniuses can help me with.
First is % of the battery in the icon of status bar, it isn't in the battery section not in Systen Tuner UI.
second is to change the order of the back/home/recent apps buttons to recent apps/home/back in the order written here.
TIA.

Any way to get root/xposed/custom recovery?
Where do you get it? Ali and gearbest only have the x6 version.
This phone looks like a great deal.

TBH didn't check yet for root/xposed/custom recovery.
It is a great device! The above two things are the only things i wish i could fix.
Here are good options where to buy it from:
Best choice IMO as they include free express delivery and will pay customs if there are any, bought my Asus Zenfone 5 Ze620Kl from them.
https://www.eglobalcentral.com/product/nokia 6.1 plus?i=Y
These guys i don't know but they sell it as well, https://www.tecobuy.com/en_US/nokia...ly_jf_f52C_oTHDVy1oiNYYTyd4AkxmUaAmgMEALw_wcB
and then there's eBay, this one uses express shipping, and is where i bought from this time.

In regards to your question about the NFC chip in the Nokia X6, we would like to inform you, that this model doesn't support this technology and the chip is not installed hardware-vise. Also, since the model is produced for use only in Mainland China, this feature is also not supported in the software.

You can change the order, I've done it on mine. Just need to follow the instructions here: https://www.xda-developers.com/customise-the-navigation-bar-android-oreo/
You can remove the app once you've switched them and it stays the same . Now I just want someone to make a TWRP for this so I can change the video codec and I'll be happy.

Another thing i found is the colours are on the "cold" side, and i prefer warm. So what i did is put on night mode and put the intensity to minimum and voila!
The idea is from a review i saw on youtube.

Which color would look better on this model.. Black or white.. Any suggestions

It's a matter of taste, i like black.

Yeah a TWRP is eagerly needed.

I just received the phone, got it from Gearbest in a Flash Sale for 175 Euros. Added expedited delivery, so paid 180 in total. Delivered within a week! And no customs charges. Brucey bonus.
So far, I like it a LOT. It's only a smidge bigger than my Galaxy S7, but the screen is HUGE compared to it. And I love Android One - no bloat. It has some functionality I'd not seen before, I especially liked the "restore settings" from Google option, that literally put all my shizzle back.
The camera is probably the only downside, that's just not as responsive as the S7, it just takes that bit longer to focus, but to me that's no biggie, as I don't care all too much about photography.
The Snapdragon is nice & snappy (see what I did there?), and combined with 4GB of RAM & clean Android One, performance is excellent.
PS - I ordered the X6 International version, which, when started up, identifies itself as the 6.1. So if you order that one from Gearbest, you're good. Here's the link: https://www.gearbest.com/cell-phones/pp_009787976351.html?wid=1349303
Amazing that you can get a phone this good for so little money. And it's not a ridiculous 6.2" or bigger "phablet" either.

Buyers Remorse

After using a lot of Samsung phones, this model has really let me down and I'm thinking to sell this phone and move on as I'm really not happy about it due to below shortcomings.
- Display Profiles/Preset(Dynamic/Standard etc) - This obvious option is missing and my eyes is unable to getting used to stock setting and screen is something which I look all the time I really miss this option
- Spen Keeper - Too bad I use Spen
- Macro Focus in Camera - And camera too
If you're not satisfied with the phone, then sell it.
Display Profiles, I kinda miss it in my previous Note 2 and Note 3. I'm used to the Neo's profile though.
Regarding S-Pen Keeper, I really liked it too, but I hardly leave without the Pen even when I used the previous notes, and there's also a S-Pen icon notification on top.
About the macro, it's not built for total macro shots since it doesn't have a nice aperture, but it doesn't necessarily mean the overall camera performance is bad. Here's a few macros I took myself, it's not that bad, right?

There is no point asking here buddy, if u don't like it then sell it and buy another one. Everyone has there own preferences so a phone can't cater to everyone's requirements.

It's just buyers remorse and not complaining that phone completely sucks . When I move from one gen device to next one , I expect Samsung to leave options intact . For someone newly coming it doesn't make any difference to them
May be I'll pick up a Note 3 or Note 4 [emoji16]

I completely understand, didn't mean to sound harsh, afterall we've had so many healthy conversations!
I think the display profiles not being there is more of a skimped feature cos of being a Neo.
Note 4 will be out in October, so if u can wait then good, cos I know it'll be the best device.

Yeah , that's what I'm wondering if Samsung deliberately crippled down features just because it's Neo and even though it's not hardware dependent

Not in all countries, that is AFAIK. But yeah maybe in a few countries. The price of Note 3 has become pretty much stagnant, launched at 47K and since last 4-5 months it's being sold at 42-45K in different stores. I suggest u to wait for Note 4 if u can cos software & performance wise u won't be gaining much with the Note 3.
You are right!

Ya you are right! Until you pointed even I didn't know that the "adapt, dynamic, standard, movie " option is missing. Now I am feeling sad too Good observation by you.
Regarding Camera you can try "focal" app and there are so many camera apps available which you can download using Aptoide.
Just go to Aptoide.com and then install the apk. Once you install that software you can add different stores. Using them you can search for any apps. Paid and free. There you can get many many camera apps which might cater to your needs hopefully.
Please wait for Snapdragon 805 phones to arrive and then may be you can sell this and get the latest. But really sad to know you are dissatisfied with this phone.
Hope your phone surprises you some way in coming days and changes your mind
Cheers!

I hope we can get back that "display" feature.

They should give us the display profiles option, ridiculous on their part to be so miser.. -_-
Though I can live without it, many users require to adjust the settings. At that price, I think it's not justified to leave out a small albeit important feature!

I just picked it up yesterday. It's very slick and I don't have any problem whatsoever with the bezel at the bottom. The aluminum body feels good in your hands and the screen is amazing. I also considered the nexus 9 but preferred the smaller dimesions and better build.
re
The screen and form factor and speed are the reasons to buy it.
The cameras are a gimmicky joke. Really lousy quality.. But then again why would you take too many pics with a tablet anyway.
I have noticed a little lag here and there and screen rotation will often hang..
I was going to get the nexus 9 but this screen on the dell is freaking awesome with crazy good viewing angles. Its so good I have to really dim it to keep others from seeing what I'm doing.
I have a case being shipped from China, they thought I accidently ordered the wrong model because it was not officially released when I got mine.
The nexus looked kinda toy like compared to the dell.. Plus the nexus was larger then I wanted, lots of bezel.
buy the end of the month i would decide to get either one of them
but my main concern with the dell is
official support + dev support
i mean i have galaxy s3 as my phone
and it has bad official support
the only reason for me to keep it is the great dev here at xda
i mean i have android lollipop on my galaxy s3
while other newer devices don't
re
The dell forums basically scream, dell does not update their devices. Once they put out a new device ur pretty much on your own.

looks like im returning the tablet.. I would not suggest getting any tablet from dell.
LMAO, I just saw the price of this tablet, I expected it to be around $200 to $250 range.
No way this tablet is worth $400, Dell has balls, I give them that for asking so much for this tablet, by March the tablet will be under the $250 mark and still be Kitkat.

Would you be kind to make the benchmark with Droidfish as explained on my previous post? thanks
maxecume said:
There is an interesting benchmark made with Droidfish on a german forum (chinamobiles.org); "Mclane" actually started it some years ago. The post was viewed more than 4200 times and "approved" by the administrator; many members participated on the forum and on private messages; they appreciate that benchmark. Would you be OK to test your Dell Venue 8 7840 ? For details, see that link:
http://www.chinamobiles.org/threads...-aktualisieren-benchmark-siehe-seite-1.41880/
and the "howto"
1) After rebooting, download and install Droidfish:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.petero.droidfish
2) Clear all apps in background (hold home and swipe them away) and then run droidfish.
3) Press the menu button, invoke "Settings", choose "Threads" and select "Automatic", and then press back button to get back to chess board.
4) There is button with label "M" below chess board. Press it and choose "Analysis Mode". Analysis will start. Keep it running for about 1 minute.
5) After 1 minute passed, read and record the "knps:" number at bottom of the screen. This is the measurement we're interested in. This value is a number of positions searched per second (in thousands). The higher the better.
6) IMPORTANT: To force program to STOP thinking, press "M" button again, choose "Two players" so that analysis will stop. Post the results here with rom information (optional). Stock rom is preferable but other roms are welcomed.
Thank you! best regards.

you must be a higher "computering man" than me...
Droidfish is a chess apps. Chess programs are often used to test computers...
Talking simply, this test measures the speed of the processor at its "peak" level;
results depend on speed (gHz), number of cores, cache size, used RAM size...
it depends also on the temperature of the processor which can "throttle" for some of them...
So it's important to test with "cold" (not used for a moment) and rebooted device
and NOT to FORGET to STOP the TEST after few minutes as explained on "point 6".
So after all that, what is your peak "result", "vampirefo" ?
is it Atom Z3560 or Z3580?
thank you for you help

Just don't put it into the back pocket.
or lose weight.
yeah, I know.
but, the fact is that so far I had no worries about putting my phone in the back pocket, and this crashing was way too easy.
many other phones "refused" to break in the same test. seems it's not impossible to make phone stronger.
Now we know why it's so light...

It is a Glass body phone! What did you expect! Seriously.
Edit: The Nexus 6P costs twice as much and fails just as bad. Keep that in mind before you judge.
Well, seriously, I expected it would be similar to some other Glass body phones which are lower class and even cheaper:

The OnePlus X has an SD 801 inside and less fancy hardware. Could be that OnePlus saved money on the hardware and innovation part.
But then again, if you just wanted to say:There is no perfect phone and certainly not a cheap perfect phone. Than yeah, that is right.

Exactly you would have expected the Mi5 to fair better.
Instead it broke easier than a biscuit.

No but it does in this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d2jav7UdQtE like a biscuit.
Well, Mi5 has only one aluminium frame. They had to sacrifice rigidity of the phone to make it cheaper.
The phone has top components, though, so I think it's still one of the best Android phones (if not the best) in its price range.
Get a sleek looking case and you're fine. Since i live in Myanmar i payed the same price for it as they cost in China. So i have to handle it more careful then normal. Like a Chinese vase?
If you like rugged, get the Redmi Note 3 snapdragon. Fast, though and heavy.

so, here we are again...
this time, phone has SD 820 and even more fancy hardware, so OnePlus did not save money on the hardware and innovation part.
also, phone is in the same price range as Mi5, and in europe it's even cheaper (+official support).

And where is One Plus now? SD 820 and more expensive than the Mi5.
The time when one plus was a flagship killer are long gone. One Plus right now is too expensive to be budget, and too bad to be premium.
The difference is that the Mi5 is true budget, compared to the OP3.
What One Plus released now with the OP3 is: either go for budget SD 820 -> Mi5 or spend 50 to 100 USD more and get a real flagship over the OP3... don't bring one plus on board after the current release.
Don't live in the past, the OP1 is long gone and old.
Yet if you want to compare you may also compare stuff to the Nokia 3210, that's a "bend proof phone" ... yes I am kidding. Don't live in the past.
thx for clarifying.
I would like to give you +20 Experience and +5 Prestige for that, but I'm struggling to find those options on this not-so-advanced forum.
anyways, as far as I can see, this is present:
Mi5 vs OP3 - one breaks, another doesn't
so, there's absolutely no need to live in the past for anybody.

RMN2 Hard Brick, CM12.1

Hey devs,
for about 3 weeks I have been a proud owner of the RMN2 Prime until yesterday, when it suddenly turned off and died.
When I got the phone I started skinning it down with jaik's custom boot image and also cleaned it from unused apps. So far so good.
Now, some days ago I decided to switch over to danielpinto's CM12.1 , which is really awesome compared to MIUI. No problems either.
I also installed Greenify and Disable services to get rid of some battery hogs.
Yesterday, I was out of home whole day, had minimal standby battery drain, but really massive battery drop when recording a video (~50% to 25% in about 2min).
Put it in my pocket, and 10 min later it didn't turn on again. I thought it would be the battery, but apparently it's bricked. No charge LED, no PC recognition, nothing...
I tried to unbrick it via SP tool and some really unconvenient tutorials, but nothing worked. I guess I installed all needed drivers now, but SP tool doesn't show any reaction in the progress bar (the coloured bar at the bottom...I don't get ANY colour, nothing starts when I click the download button).
What to do?
The RMN2 is a pretty good phone IMO, but now also my first bricked one. I would be extremly graceful if some experienced xda devs could help me with this as I'm really desperated.
I'm from Europe and ordering a new one (if I'd need to) would take some weeks from now.
If so, have you any suggestions on which device might be a better choice? It should be in the same price range though.
Thanks for reading!
Best regards
If it is broken.... I guess new phone can be redmi note 3 pro.
Only thing I can think of is trying with a new battery.. (something must be wrong with it if it drained that quickly).
Thanks for your replies!

The extra features of the 3 pro are not really attractive for me. I've found the Elephone P9000 Lite today and I think this might be great alternative. Or I give the RMN2 another chance. Not sure on this yet...

Wouldn't it be less costly to first spend 10$ on a new battery before buying a new phone? In regards to a new phone, I'd chose a Snapdragon 650 powered RN3 w/ a 4k mAh battery over the Elephone P9000 Lite any day of the week. My brother has one and it's an amazing phone. Of course it all depends of what you find important in a phone. What makes you go for the Elephone?

Really appreciate your thoughts, man!
If I could be sure that it was a battery problem I would of course buy a new one. But it really appears to be a hard brick (I tested it with the battery removed and the phone directly plugged to the charger -> no LED, no reaction) Also the PC can't recognise it anymore.
The RN3 might surely be a nice phone, but for me the fingerprint, slithly faster performance and the battery are not worth 60€ more.
I just stumbled over the P9000 Lite yesterday and it seems to have everything the RN2 has + more RAM, LTE band 20 and Marshmallow. Negative is the small xda community for it...
And today I just found Ulefone! Geez, almost the same company name, but whole different stuff...there are way too many china phones out there!
The Elephone is down for a Ulefone Power or Ulefone Vienna.
Any thoughts?
Btw FYI, my preferences would be:
- at least 3000mAH
- 5.5 inch FHD
- Android 6 (or via update) + maybe chance for N if it's not asked too much
- at least 2Gb RAM, processor level of RN2 would be sufficient
- I don't care about the camera quality at all
- less than ~180€
Does the phone vibrate when you plug it to the charger without the battery?

I got it from Gearbest and it's still in their 45 days warranty. I'll probably try to ask for a refund and order a new RN2.
Sending it back, fixing it, then sending it back to me would last monthes...
So I'll order a new one today or tomorrow, I'm just undecided between Ulefone Power or RN2.

Djeeeeeeeeeeeez thx a lot!! You've made me look at that Elephone P9000 Lite, then at that Ulefone Power (looks awesome w/ wooden back!) and now i'm considering passing on my RN2 to a family member and going on a spending spree (again) I wouldn't personally go for the Ulefone Power because of it's less than great MT6753 processor, 16GB (only) storage and Ulefone's custom ROM (planned upgrade to MM, but yeah don't think it'll get N).
I'm actually moving to China in a couple of weeks and one of the first things I'll do when I get there is go have a look at the Umi Super. Check out these specs:
- SHARP 2.5D 5.5 FHD display (Gorilla glass 3)
- Mediatek P10 (MT6755) @ 2.0GHz
- SAMSUNG 32GB eMMC 5.1 ROM
- SAMSUNG LPDDR3 4GB RAM
- SONY 4000 mAh battery
- PANASONIC 13MP dual flash camera
- TYPE-C USB / SD card up to 256GB / Fingerprint sensor / Dual SIM (shared 2nd slot w/ SD)
And when you thought it couldn't get any better, it comes with stock Android 6.0 (yes you've read that right!! it's a Nexus!!!!! ) and Umi offers a ROM flashing tool (Rootjoy) on their website and the tool allows you to flash a MIUI, VIBE, EMUI or LEWA ROM, made for the Super, to the phone
That is one hell of a crazy phone! Now I know in your requirements it says "less than 180e" and there is a time limited offer on Umi's homepage to get it for 179.99$ (not sure about shipping fees). Anyway, I'm gonna get it even if I need to shell the normal 249.99$ price for it (it's more than worth it if you look at the top class components they've chosen for the Super). So screw the idea of repairing your RN2, throw it in the bin (or put it up on eBay) and get that unibody aluminium one

Damn it, now there are 3 devices to choose from
The RN2 has a strong community, but bad battery..
the Ulefone Power has...ehm...power and MM, but is unhandy and has no community..
and the UMI Super sounds awesome, but has even less community and it will take monthes til it would be here with me!
Do you have a link to the 180 bucks offer? found it
And are you in anyway paid by UMI by chance?
EDIT: Ok, somehow got hooked by the Super Now the only question is where to get it fast and cheap
I can't stand getting along with my old Lg L7 for so long!

Not in any way., I only found out about Umi at 2am last night when I was still looking at the newer China phones xD You can go on their website and click on the Super promo on the homepage (Snap now) and it will show you all the supported resellers (Gearbest and alike + 1 shop on Aliexpress/eBay). The Aliexpress shop (Deal Home) seems to be the only one having stock already (there's a certificate signed by a Umi representative stating that Deal Home has the First launch exclusivity) and all the other shops won't be sending anything out before June 20th. I've taken a look at their flash sale system. First, you need to register for the coupon (which they mail every Wednesday to the lucky first ones) and then you need to wait on a flash sale day (there was one on May 23rd and the next one, which we'll miss obviously, is on May 31th). Only on those days, and at the following hours: 00:00, 03:00, 06:00, 18:00 and 21:00, can you get one for 179$. The 179$ phones will be shipped out after 7 days according to the shop. So this system 1) scks and 2) is not as speedy as we like.
But there's a second option. You can buy it in a presale (right now) w/o the flash sale crap for 219.99$ on Deal Home (there's a 10$ seller discount as well) and according to them, those phones get shipped out "24~48h after test well". Thing is, I'm not sure how true that all is since in the shipping option, it mentions "ships out within 28 business days" (but that might be a default aliexpress thing). I'd just contact the shop and ask how quickly you can get it (or the item is being shipped out) if you take the 209.99$ one. They have 81 gray ones and 97 golden ones left.
It is true that the dev community is pretty small, but how much of it do you need if they offer a stock ROM by default (w/ possibility of root, xposed, etc.) and many alternative ROMS as an option? The only thing they might not do (but that's the same for every other Android vendor) is to offer an upgrade to Android N. I checked their forum a bit and at least they're being honest and clear about it when and why one of their devices isn't being updated to a new Android version.
I just had a first look at the sellers today and at the moment they all sell them for about 190€ - 200€, which is still okay for me (especially compared to the RN3). That is efox, tomtop, Banggood and Gearbest. Aliexpress' Deal Home unfortunately doesn't ship to my country. But I saw that Gearbest also has this kind of flash sale on special days of the week.
They all seem to deliver from mid to end of June plus the shipping time itself. So it will be here in mid July at the earliest...

In the meantime I ordered the UMI Super for 164€. I'm really excited, but have to wait until July at least, as it will be shipped from 25th June at the earliest -.-
And now I'm already wondering if I should send the Super right back to GearBest and buy a Vernee Apollo Lite.
I thought the Super would be the best of the best for this price atm, but when you see the Apollo Lite....
- Helio X20 Deca core (Antutu >90000)
- IGZO display that seems to be really power efficient
- better camera with better focus
and Vernee is said to get a lot of hours out of a 3000mAH battery. While the 4000mAH of the Umi might not hold what they promise...
I'm not really into the fastest processor available as you won't feel a big differnece in daily use anyway, but it still seems to be a better package overall.
Price ~200€, ~230$ pre-sale
I ordered aswell they working on the battery like the last update. Waiting for root =(

Little update and a question:
I'm currently pretty happy with the UMI Super. All I wish for is DTTW and a Wifi fix, but all in all a really decent device for that price.
Regarding the RMN 2:
It's a real shame that I cant revive it...so dead...yet so beautiful
I disassembled it and tried the test point method as a last resort, but I can't identify the test points.
Anyone knows where they are?
I googled, but to no avail...
Thanks everyone!

Question Is this a bad phone?

Hi.
I really tempted by this phone but I see a few threads were people are having issues. These are bad battery, bad screens, bad fingerprint reader, overheating.
I see that the New Edition is out now. I wonder if this is an admission from Xiaomi that the original was flawed.
The original is now £329 and will soon be OS and the NE is £399.
Would it be crazy to buy the original now?

Hello!
Personally, i like this phone.
I think his design is really cool looking, and the battery life is AMAZING.
Personally, i'm using the Pixel Experience ROM with android 11, because the 12 is in alpha, and battery sucks with it on my phone.
The display isn't that bad, but there is a post already talking about the fact that there is two types of screen. Please, take that in consideration before purchasing!
The photo quality isn't that bad either, but, my friend having a Pixel 4a makes better photos than that. You may even be able to get a Pixel 5 for cheap, nowdays.
I don't know anything about the "NE" model that has been released by Xiaomi, but maybe it has a better camera and battery. You may check review on the web.
By the way, never had bad fingerprint reader issues, and no overheat even in the worst case cenarios. Battery maximum was at 32°C.

The NE is the exact same phone relaunched with a less powerful SoC - 778G instead of 780G - in response to global chipset shortages. The real-world performance difference is negligible (for graphics intensive tasks the original 780 is superior).
