Huawei P20 Lite, Bricked?? - Huawei P20 Lite Questions & Answers

I am in a massive pickle here.
I installed root on my phone but stupidly enough I forgot to FRP unlock my phone. with also phone unlocked
Phone unlocked
FRP lock
My phone now only boots into erecovery and twrp doesn't load on my phone anymore and have tried multiple times to load it up again.
I have factory reset my phone and tried multiple stock roms to install but all get stuck at 5% and fail.
My build number is ANE-LX1 8.0.0.103(C782)
I then went to DC unlocker to remove FRP and came up with their own error code 'unknown error 405'
I am now stuck on what to do as fastboot device works but when i try to flash something all i get is command failed.

First : have you download your build "FULL-Update" ?
then you need bootloader=unlockt (Phone unlocked) AND FRP=unlock
if nothing help - dc-unlocker can bootloader unlock (4€) and can FRP unlock (15€)
with HuaweiExtractor extract 3 img - ramdisk.img, recovery_ramdis.img, system.img
the Extractor do automatic 3 *.img.header
this 6 files copy to your ADB-folder, then
- fastboot flash ramdisk ramdisk.img
- fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk recovery_ramdis.img
- fastboot flash system system.img
this work only if "bootloader unlockt" AND "FRP unlock" !!!
if flash work and phone reboot - phone boot to stock-recovery and format low-level "data"
if "... stuck at 5% and fail" : your stock-recovery is bad !
if all work, phone boot: all your data is lost (format low-level "data")
factory reset (with format low-level "data") ONLY work with stock-recovery - NO with TWRP
Example
i have TWRP installed
OTA-Update incommig, this write "undate install now ?", i do "NO - later"
i flash stock-recovery
now install the update
if all work i can new-flash TWRP
and 1 question : what the way you root your phone ?

Same sh-t. But in stupid action i've locked boot also. So i have: locked boot, locked frp, no system files, not working recovery (erecovery did nothing helpful (no online updates, no factory reset)) I have nand backup (but dont have twrp) and i have a wish to drop that all-way-stupid-ideas device from ten floor :c Any ways without pay 15e? Better i will smash it and buy something better for smaller cost

I´m in the same situation, but my frp is not locked. What I do is try to unroot my device flashing magiskuninstaller.zip and unSU.zip and everything seems to be ok but on reboot my phone enter erecovery and do anything, the same thing, dont download latest version and manually update with Update.app and dload stuck at 5%. I tried this:
with HuaweiExtractor extract 3 img - ramdisk.img, recovery_ramdis.img, system.img
the Extractor do automatic 3 *.img.header
this 6 files copy to your ADB-folder, then
- fastboot flash ramdisk ramdisk.img
- fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk recovery_ramdis.img
- fastboot flash system system.img
but on first boot there is a bootloop and the second boot sends to erecovery again
My phone is ANE-LX3 latinoamerica, any help will be appreciated....sorry my bad english

please try this :
- download full update rom for your device, extract the .APP files using HuaweiUpdateExtractor
- boot into fastboot by press and hold Volume Down and plug in usb cable into your pc and your phone, hold it until it boot into fastboot
- do this :
fastboot flash kernel kernel.img
fastboot flash ramdisk ramdisk.img
fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk recovery_ramdis.img
fastboot flash recovery_vbmeta recovery_vbmeta.img
fastboot flash recovery_vendor recovery_vendor.img
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot flash vbmeta vbmeta.img
fastboot flash vendor vendor.img
- reboot your device and hold Volume Up and Volume Down to get it boot into eRecovery and do Wipe Cache Partitions and then do Factory Data Reset, and reboot again
- let it boot normally, and see what happen next, i can't remember for sure because it's been so long i unbricked my Nova 2s with this method. there are 2 possibility, you'll boot into system normally, or it will boot into eRecovery again and there is an option Download Latest Version And Recovery and you can choose that, of course you should have connection to internet via wifi.
please report back if you have difficulties.

Could this method also work for me? I bought a P20 Pro while in China. Being in Europe I did not receive the OTA to Android Pie and I had still Chinese characters popping up left and right.
So I got an bootloader unlock code.
Then used Funkyhuawei to rebrand the phone. The instructions mentioned I had to do the eRecovery twice. But after the first download it got stuck in a bootloop. I cannot get back into eRecovery.
I did manage to clean the data and do a factory reset, but I did not get back in the the eRecovery mode. Now I am stuck.
Thanks

if you have something to add please do
Thank you all.
Here's an alternative method for those who don't trust flashing tools due to bad experiences and prefer flashing files manually via Fastboot (like me):
Follow steps 1. to 3. and 5. of the opening post.
Unzip the stock rom (archive) into your ADB/Fastboot folder.
Boot the tablet to the bootloader (c.f. step 6. of the opening post).
Use the following commands:
Code:
fastboot flash gpt gpt.bin
fastboot erase misc
fastboot erase persistent
fastboot erase frp
fastboot erase metadata
fastboot format config
fastboot format country
fastboot format cache
fastboot format data
fastboot format factory
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash config config.img
fastboot flash country country.img
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot flash bootloader bootloader
fastboot flash oemvars bootloader_policy-oemvars.txt
fastboot flashing lock
fastboot continue
Execute each of them with Enter and wait till a command got executed completely before you try to use the next one.
It might happen that you face an error while flashing that oemvars bootloader_policy-oemvars.txt. I couldn't find out why that happened and ignoring it seems to be harmless.
Follow steps a) to e) of the opening post.

So my Android YB1-X90F was locking up when trying to boot, just stuck showing the Lenovo logo. Thinking I'm clever I stubbled across the boot menu if you start the device with the Volume Up held. From there I tried the Recovery Mode and did a Factory Reset. Then the tablet started up and shows the Green Andriod Bin Man, saysi Encrypting and promptly reboots. So one starts Googling and ends up here. Some very help information, thanks for that.
So I've got as far as installing all the drivers/Intel Phone tool/Android Suite etc. but I'm still stuck. The flash is locked. Is there another way to unlock this as I can't get into Android to allow the developer options as suggested in Step 2 of the opening post?
Trying the fastbook commands in post 2 also fail
Code:
FAILED (remote: Prohibited command in locked state.)
finished. total time: 0.170s
TIA
LOL @ me, of course the manual fastboot commands fail as that's precisely what the Phone Tool App trying when doing its magic.

The link is not work anymore, could you please share you firmware for x90L model ? thanks

bricked :(

Hi! I just bought a Honor 9 STF-AL00, build: STF-AL00C00B201.
As it is the chinese version, I wanted to rebrand it, so I follow the instructions on https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-9/how-to/guide-honor-9-t3653719.
Unlocking bootloader was successful and as chinese firmware, it did not had a FRP lock.
The first time, rebranding stopped just before the menu.
The second time, I could access the menu and did the install.
But it looks like it did not go as expected because when the phone booted, it did not load TWRP but eRecovery.
So I booted in fastboot, it says phone locked & FRP locked.
I booted once again in eRecovery to download package from server and recovery but it says getting package info failed.
I tried to install stockrom from sd but it didnot work out.
I still have the bootloader code, but now i cant even install TWRP.
Can anyone please help me?
It is a brand new phone, I even havent use it yet and it's already bricked :'(
I install an service full repair stock via dload

it is working right now.

You can always re-unlock your phones bootloader again, the key is always same, then flash or boot twrp with fastboot.
Some developers says the command for oreo is: fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk [file name] but I used this: fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk_a [file name]
You even can try to just boot twrp without flashing it to your recovery by simple typing: fastboot boot [file name]
If fastboot can flash twrp, turn your phone off then hold volume up/+ and power button same time and hold them until the state of unlocked warning appears.
You can use dload method or you can use HuRupdater method to flash firmware. You'll find introduction for how to do it.
Just search on xda

Hi guys,
it's been more than two hours that I seek the solution to this same problem with next to me the LG G5 bootllop.
All other solutions give nothing:
- unlook via fastboot makes a mistake because the debugging option is not enabled
- the download mode does not remain more than 15 seconds
Guys, have you found a way out of this problem?

You can try getting the .kdz for your phone (e.g. off lg-firmwares.com), use the WindowsLGFirmwareExtract tool to extract the .dz out of the .kdz, then use the tool to extract the laf_6.bin out of the .dz. You can then flash this in fastboot mode using a command like
Code:
fastboot flash laf laf_6.bin
Make sure to use the same .kdz as your running firmware.
I had the same problem with Download Mode as you (restarted after 15 seconds). I extracted laf_6.bin from the H85030e KDZ firmware (whose boot stack was in use), and flashed its LAF (i.e. Download Mode) volume over the laf partition. After this Download Mode stopped restarting after 15 seconds, and I was able to use LGUP (and you would be able to use UPPERCUT) to flash the full KDZ.
(I proceeded to start the phone in bootloader/fastboot mode and flash TWRP recovery as well, with my unlocked bootloader.)

interesting. I am in Bootloop from two weeks. Tried to much time lineage 17.1 and then leave the phone so many hours in order to boot in lineage that at some point it won't enter system anymore.
So I passed to LGUP that works only with UPPERCUT and only with UPGRADE functions even if I installed all the drivers.
Maybe I need a "megalock.dll" file?
But the way one week trying to boot in system after flashing KDZ files with UPPERCUT and after many and many bootloop I finally enter the system with H85020a_00_OPEN_EU_OP_1030.kdz
But after one reboot it returns the problem.
I am desperate.
Have you got a phone name to buy that is unbrickable?

AnTibrick Your redmi 9(Lancelot)

Remember.....
Sp flash tool work (without authorization) with v11.0.4.0-v11.0.8.0......but v11.0.4.0 is best for sp flash tool work without authorized account...
This Post is very important for all redmi 9 users, who Want to modify his or her device At Home Without Going To xaiomi customer center and Pay somebody to fix His Or Her device.
Theory:
Our redmi 9 is MediaTek bAse Device. That's Mean it is easily to break without any reason. When Break your device you cannot go fastboot mode or recovery mood.Only boot logo is coming and then it reboot every time. Then The only option is left that is you can or must be flash it with SP flash tool. The SP flash tool flash device with Brom Mood.It is same as Snapdragon EDL mode. Unlik Snapdragon You do not need to disassemble your device to go Brom Mood. The Mood is always there when you reboot your device. If you connect your device With If your PC have Vcom port driver(can be download from this post) Then the computer Can recognise Your device As Vcom Port. But you cannot use this port to flash device Xiaomi Is lock the port. But good News is global V11.0.4.0 has some bug.You can use SP flash tool to flash. An upper Version it may possible But doesn't Know When they fix This Bug And SP flash tool is unable to flash lT.So you have to stay on V11.0.4.0. if You Are in higher version When You Read The Post Do Not Worry You Can Downgrade V11.0.4.0 . test All Framware At This Time of Writting The Post ,That The AntirollBack Protection Is Not Active. That's Mean You Can Downgrade Your Framwar.
How To Unbrick Your Device?:
If You Are In V11.0.4.0 then It Work Definitely Unless You Flash Wrong Preloader.Bin Or Earse Preloader.bin .intall Vcom Driver To Your Pc(DownloaD From Post). If Your Device Can Defect As Vcom Driver Then You Good TO Go....

How To UpdaTe Your Device Without UpdaTe The Framware?:
It is very good and important question. Because If you update your Device With Recovy Method With Recovery Rom Then Your Framware Is Also Update. So It Is Not Possible To Use Sp Flash Tool Then.To Avoid This Problen You Can Follow Two Method Which I Describe Below.....
1.Fastboot Rom Method(Easy):
You Have to download the fastboot version Of your ROM which You Want To Install. Then extract The Fastboot Rom And You Need super.img and boot.img File. You Also Need A vbmeta.Img(Download From This Post). Then Go to fastboot mode Of your device and Flash Via Below Cmd
fastboot flash super super.img
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash vbmeta vbmeta.img
Erase your all user data from Going To Recovery Mood(power+Volume Down).Reboot Your Device If Get Bootloop Then Flash Magisk Patch Boot.Img From The Fastboot Rom.If you Do Not Know How To Patch Then Follow The Below Link..
Root Redmi 9 without twrp and data lost
VERY IMPORTANT: Please make sure your boot.img version matches the ROM version . that's mean if you update your device then you have to use patch boot.img from new recovery rom.never use the old one. If they mismatch you might brick your phone...
forum.xda-developers.com
In This Way You Can Flash Any Variant of FastbOot Rom.That's Mean You Can Use Chaina Rom With GlobAl Framware..
2.RecOvery Method(Hard)
Requirements:
*Recovery Rom(any Version And Any Variant)
*Pc Or Laptop With Windows And Linux(Ubuntu 20.4 is Batter)
*Some Knowledge About Ubuntu Cmd.
Linux part
Extract 4 file From The Downloaded Recovery Rom
1.system.new.dat.br
2.system.transfer.list
3.product.new.dat.br
4.product.transfer.list
And Download sdat2img.py(from This Post extract from dat2img-master.zip)
Keep This 5 file In Same Folder And Ooen A Terminal From The Same Location.run The Below Cmb In Linux Environment One By One.
brotli -d system.new.dat.br
brotli -d product.new.dat.br
./sdat2img.py system.transfer.list system.new.dat system.img
./sdat2img.py product.transfer.list product.new.dat product.img
After Run All 4 cmd Successful Then You Can Find Two File In Same Folder Which Are system.img And .product.img
Linux Part Is End Now Go To Window Os...
now Go To Your Device fastboot MooD And Connect Your Device With Pc And Run Below Cmd
fastboot reboot fastboot (For Going To Fastbootd Mood)
When You Go To Fastbootd Mood Then Open Cmd From Where Your CreateEd File Is And Run Below Cmd
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot flash product product.Img
fastboot -w
fastboot reboot
Do Not Forget To Flash vbmeta(From This Post).flash vbmeta With fastboot Mood And When You Flash system and Product Then You Must Get A Error Like"Invalid spare At Header Magic" do Not Panic It Is Simple....
Extra:
if You Want To Use vendor.img Then you Can Also Extract vendor.img With The Above Method.and Can Flash It Via fastbootd Moid.If You Flash Vendor.img Then Do Not Forget Fo Flash boot.img From The Recovery Rom.flash boot.img with fastboot mood
If this post helpful them do not forget to thank me.Need lots time to make this post.if any questions then feel free to ask..

No need to replace motherboard....go xaiomi service shop and tell them what you done with your device and ask them if they hava authorization account...if they have them tell them to use it to fix your device...

How to unbrick Huawei P20 Lite ANE-LX1?

Hello there,
I managed to unlock the bootloader and the FRP for the Huawei P20 Lite ANE-LX1 (which was on emui 9)
Then I flashed Twrp-3.5.2_9-0.
It worked fine for a while. But when I tired "Wipe data", it got stuck with "Formating f2fs, Done" for 1hour.
So I rebooted the device with volume down + power.
When I try to get back in TWRP, it's getting stuck at the logo and there is also no access to eRecovry, it says "booting now" undefinitely.
And of course no access to the stock rom which says the same thing "booting now" undefinitely.
I also tried fastboot erase system.
I still have acces to the fastboot mode with bootloader unlock + FRP unlock.
Is there a way to unbrick the device?
Let me know if you need any additional info.
Thank you in advance.

never do 'format data' in TWRP 3.4.0 and above running stock firmware, it may really brick your phone.
In fastboot mode run commands:
fastboot oem get-build-number
fastboot getvar vendorcountry
and post results.
Do you have bootloader unlock code?
Thanks for the info about "wipe data"
Yes, I have the bootloader unlock code.
here are the results:
ANE-LX1 9.1.0.381 (C432E7R1P7)

Download and install Service ROM using dload method (instructions can be found in ReleaseDoc folder). This process will erase all your data and lock the BL again.

Am I missing something or the .rar file is locked with a password and one must pay for it?

I'm in the exact same soup (and additionally flashed the phenix kernel). How exactly does one do the dload method without dialpad?
I tried:
flash twrp, got stuck on the twrp logo where ADB works, so pushed UPDATE.APP to /sdcard/dload/UPDATE.APP and tried booting while holding both volume keys and power. No luck, boots back to TWRP and stuck on logo.
Flashed stock recovery over recovery_ramdisk and tried again. No luck and stuck on "Your device is booting now..."
both of the above but with an external SD card and instead of /dload/UPDATE.APP I just copied the whole dload directory from the stock service ROM
Nothing seems to work and now I would kindly ask for help - what should I do?

Got it!
I found an old message by @-Alf- where he suggested to use Huawei Update Extractor to extract system, kernel and recovery_ramdisk images from the stock service ROM and flash them manually with fastboot. This works! Or at least the stock rom and erecovery seems to boot fine.
Thank you both @-Alf- and @LR7875 ! These forums can be confusing, I'm used to Nexus 6P where there is plenty ROMs available and no issues with TWRP etc. I will now go for my second attempt to get LOS 18 to work (with magisk )
Btw the build number is ANE-LX1 9.1.0.381(C432E7R1P7) (hw/eu edition, same as OP)
Oright, I'm back in the game.
Thank you -Alf-, LR7875 and MrPipa
I too didn't manage to make the dload method work.
So I also followed Alf's suggestion to use Huawei Update Extractor.
Here is a recap for other noobs like me:
My device is:
Huawei P20 lite
Build: ANE-LX1 9.1.0.381 (C432E7R1P7)
vendorcountry: hw/eu
1. Download huawei update extractor here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3966156
(from this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...updated-v0-9-9-5-open-source-library.2433454/)
2. Download Stock ROM from here: https://androidhost.ru/1O2r
(Thanks to -Alf-)
3. In windows, unzip HuaweiUpdateExtractor_0.9.9.5.zip
4. Unzip "Huawei P20 Lite ( Nova 3e )... .zip"
5. Unzip the update_sd.zip file contained in the folder path /Huawei P20 Lite ( Nova 3e ).../Software/dload/update_sd
5. Launch HuaweiUpdateExtractor.exe
6. Go in the tab settings and uncheck all boxes
7. Back to the first tab, leave the drop down field to "unknown ..."
8. Click on the 3 dots on the right side and select the file UPDATE.APP in the newly unzipped folder update_sd
9. HuaweiUpdateExtractor will show all the .img files contained in the UPDATE.APP file
10. Extract all to a folder (i.e. update-imgs) with right click on any img file and select extract all
11. Put the device in fastboot mode and start flashing .img files (see below)
(from this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/huawei-p20-lite-bricked.3798842/)
Plug in usb cable into the pc and the device, boot the device into fastboot by pressing and holding Volume Down and power buttons, hold it until it boot into fastboot
Android icon with 2 red lines under it: bootloader unlock and FRP unlock
Then open a terminal or command line in the folder containing all the images i.e. update-imgs
and use these commands:
Code:
fastboot flash cust CUST.img
fastboot flash kernel KERNEL.img
fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk RECOVERY_RAMDIS.img
fastboot flash recovery_vbmeta RECOVERY_VBMETA.img
fastboot flash recovery_vendor RECOVERY_VENDOR.img
fastboot flash system SYSTEM.img
fastboot flash vbmeta VBMETA.img
I'm not sure if they are all necessary but I tried a few of them (system, recovery_ramdis, ramdisk)
and it didn't seem to work.
Only after doing the rest of them, it worked.
Meaning the device could boot into stock rom.
12. Reboot the device after the last command with:
Code:
fastboot reboot
Now back to normal.
After that I got LineageOS 16 on the device with these steps:
1. Download a TWRP, I used this one: https://mega.nz/#!Fgd0xa4R!1o5ejzDnkLJLG2tAZG-STtlJ4nnNCHfwwZdOlmOkrVw
(Thanks to -Alf-, from this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/recommended-and-tested-twrp-recovery.4199099/)
2. Downlaod LineageOS 16 from here: https://lineageosroms.com/anne/
3. Copy the LineageOS 16 image to device's SD card.
4. Connect the device to a pc via USB cable, put the device in fastboot mode (Volume DOWN + Power buttons until the android icon appears)
then use this command line from the folder containing the TWRP image file (i.e. TWRP-oreo-smart.img):
Code:
fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk TWRP-oreo-smart.img
and reboot with:
Code:
fastboot reboot
5. To get into TWRP, unplug the USB cable and go into recovery mode by pressing and holding Volume UP + Power buttons until Huawei logo appears.
6. In TWRP:
(Again thanks -Alf-, from this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/rom-official-anne-9-lineageos-16-0.4151163/page-3#post-83601729)
6.a: go to Wipe > Format data, go back to TWRP's main menu
6.b: Wipe > Advanced Wipe > Wipe Dalvik, Cache, Data, System, Internal storage > Swipe to wipe and go back to the TWRP's main menu
6.c: Install > navigate to LineageOS 16's .img file and swipe to install LineageOS
6.d: Back to TWRP's main menu, select Reboot > Reboot recovery > perform factory reset
That part didn't work for me, it kept booting into TWRP.
So I had to get into eRecovery from TWRP, I unplugged the USB cable.
And then pressed Volume UP + Power buttons until the phone rebooted and the Huawei logo appeared.
At the Huawei logo, I released the buttons and the device booted into eRecovery.
Then I could do a factory reset by following the onscreen instructions.
Done, the device reboots and after the Huawei logo appears the LineageOS animation.
Enjoy and again thank you -Alf-, LR7875 and MrPipa
Edit: Added flashing CUST.img as per -Alf- suggestion
Edit: Added remove the USB cable to boot into eRecovery

Hello guys, I tried to follow these steps since i also 'bricked' my p20 lite and it worked pretty fine up until the quoted point. When I tap the factory reset the phone instantly shuts of and reboots into twrp. Any idea what could cause this?
My device is:
Huawei P20 lite
Build: ANE-LX1 9.1.0.132(C432E7R1P7)
vendorcountry: hw/eu
Since I have this build I flashed the kernel, system, recovery_ramdisk etc. with .132 build .zip, (rest of the steps were exactly the same), should I have used the .zip @-Alf- provided?
Hello LIFATRON3000,
I've tried a few build as well and they worked fine. So my guess is that the issue might not be the build.
I find that when the phone is connected to a usb cable, it keeps booting into twrp when I try to get into eRecovery.
So when in trwp, unplug the usb cable and then press Volume UP + Power button.
It should reboot the phone then you'll see the Huawei logo again. Which is when you should release the buttons.
A new screen appears after Huawei that says a few things with a yellow URL and "booting now..." in white, instead of the regular similar screen but with 3 yellow options like: press up for 3 sec or power to boot or if you do nothing it will boot by itself.
And it's after that, that eRecovery is hidden.
Have you tried that already? Unpluging the USB cable and tried to Volume UP + power button?
In Huawei devices there are two Recovery , Recovery and eRecovery, each has different functions.
How to enter Recovery on EMUI 9.1: you need to turn off the phone (unlike EMUI 8) and press and hold Power + Vol Up.
If your Recovery is patched by Magisk, use this Guide
How to enter eRecovery -
1. Locked phone -on E 9.1 - turn off, connect your phone to charger or PC, then press and hold Power +
Vol Up.
2.Unlocked phone - restart your phone, when the yellow warning appears on the screen, press and hold Vol Up for 3 sec. If you have TWRP installed instead of eRecovery, you can use this to enter TWRP.

Thank you @-Alf-
It's good to know. I didn't know that there were 2 of them.
I thought there was only eRecovery. So far I only saw the second screen shot but not the first one.
Regarding the "And it's after that, that eRecovery is hidden."
What I mean is when the phone is unplugged and either turned off or inside of TWRP, if I press Volume UP + power button, I get this screen:
and it's ONLY after that screen that I get into eRecovery.
If I get this screen:
and press Volume UP for 3 seconds as indicated in the yellow text, I don't get in eRecovery. Instead I get back inside of TWRP.
Not sure if it's how it's supposed to be but that's what I got so far.
