How to disable Air Command (or any system app) after the Oreo update? - Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 Questions & Answers

My device is SM-T820 (US Galaxy Tab S3 wifi model) and I've been using the paid "BK Package Disabler" app to disable the Air Command app (so that I can use the style button for other things). After the Oreo update I received today BK Package Disbler and its MDM Extension app doesn't work for me anymore.
Does anyone know of a package disabler app that works for Oreo or any other way to disable the Air Command feature?
Thanks.

Suggest reaching out to the dev. I believe they've updated the app, but it may not be available directly via the Play Store.

When I did a search for BK package disabler nothing came up directly. But are you talking about this:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.powermanager.batteryaddon
I don't know exactly why it's called that but that's just a direct share from the Play Store. If you look at the app it does what your claiming BK package disabler does.

Thank you guys for your answer. It seems the developer just removed BK Package Disabler from the play store and stopped supporting it, which is pretty irresponsible for a paid app dev. The other package disabler app that's linked above does work for the new OS.

This app works for me: https://github.com/GoldenKappa/notSABS

It works using adb like described here: https://www.xda-developers.com/disable-system-app-bloatware-android/

[Q] Google Play & Device Compatibility Unlock

Hi all,
I wish to try certain apps from Google Play but they show as "Device not compatible" and won't let me install the app.
Is there a way to bypass this?
Thanks.

What you can do is what as known as sideloading the app's apk file. To do this first you will need to find the .apk file for the app you want to install by searching online (Only search for free apps online never sideload paid apps without first having purchased the app and/or contacting the developer of the app first) then once you have the app's apk file transfer it to your phone. Once it's on your phone make sure that the install from unknown sources option is checked under System Settings -> Security -> Unknown Sources. After you have done that navigate on your phone to where you transferred the app that you wanted to install's apk file then click on the app and it will ask you if you want to install the app. After the app is finished installing you are good to go and the app should be ready for you to use. Let me know if you still have questions!
Thanks for the reply.
I have tried sideloading but usually if the app gets updated regularly or requires the most recent update to work (ie. King's Bounty) that is where I come unstuck.
Just trying to find a way to "trick" Google Play to think that my phone (S Advance) is compatible with all apps.

The other options you could try is using the app Market Helper or Market Enabler that allows you to spoof your device and trick's the Play Store into letting you download apps that the Play Store claims are "incompatible with your device".

Is there a stronger way to stop updates on a certain app?

How can I keep an app from ever updating? I realize that in the Google Play Store, I can tap the 3 dots on the upper-right corner of an app to toggle "Auto-update this app". But I'm worried that one day, I may forget and may accidentally tap "Update All" or somehow update this app that I don't want to update. So, is there a stronger way to block any attempts at updating an app?
Like, is there a way to make google play store to think that the app on my Android does not have links to any app in the play store?
In case it helps, I have Linux on my computers.
I've read somewhere that you can re-sign the APK with https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=kellinwood.zipsigner2&hl=en and it won't get updated.
You can download sudo hide xposed module from xposed installer and then select to hide that app from the play store. It will change playstore into thinking that you haven't installed that app at all
and since you havent installed the app how could play store give updates for it

Hi, Oreo. I tried your idea and it worked. In Play Store, the green button on the app's page says "Open" and not "update".
But when I tried to log in with the app, it gave me an error. I guess the app's developers check the signature when trying to authenticate. So for now, this signing app will have to be tried on other apps of mine -- those apps with less signature-checking.

Thanks for your reply, milkyway. Just checking: the xposed installer is not in Google Play Store, right? Do you suggest I install it from http://repo.xposed.info/module/de.robv.android.xposed.installer?
Phone is Samsung Galaxy S3 running CyanogenMod Lollipop.

April 17th 2018, package disabler Pro and BK package disabler do not work :(

I've tried several suggestions listed in the Forum, the engines do not show up in the Play Store, when you try and go to the pages by following links posted here it says item not found. I want to try and run package disabler Pro which says that it does not need any plug in, it gives me error 204. Any help would be greatly appreciated

I am assuming you did the search via the Google Play client installed on your phone. I went to the Google Play website, logged in, and did a search for both successfully. Try it and see if you can install that way.

Have you tried to open the app on your phone? If I remember correctly, the app will recognize that you don't have the plugin/addin and re-direct you to install.

Package disabler Pro is still giving me this mysterious error 204, I have emailed the developer and I hope that he will be able to send me a response, installing the file that he links to on his website called Pdpengine3.Apk does not do anything at all.
As for BK disabler, I installed it and indeed it does ask me to install the engine. When I click on install engine it simply brings me through a Google Play page that says item not found. I'm so sad but I guess there is not more that can be done at this moment? Either way thank you for your help. If you have any more ideas I would be happy to try them.
You need to install the MDM extension app
hi, i formatted my S9+ just when BK Manager and MDM Extension apks were removed from Play Store.
my question is, i have both of these apks files in my storage, will i be able to install them manually and whether the disabler app will still work as it was before? can someone kindly advise?
i have emailed the developer a couple of times asking the same questions, but not getting any response or help and was never my intent to ask for a refund.
File 1. com-kunkunsoft-packagedisabler1515128400
File 2. MDM_Extension_2_Full
as for the time being, is there any other good disabler app that we can use safely? i feel so lost without this app/feature.
thank you.

If you have the complete apks you can certainly try and see if BK Manager installs properly - I don't see why both the Manager & MDM extension wouldn't?
This is the second time that this app (previously known as BK Disabler) has been removed... Hopefully it will re-emerge as a new app again? ?

Can't install apks

When I try to install an app it says app not installed. I have tried signing the app, changing the version number and can't get it to work. I have tried installing apks I have downloaded and patched apks from lucky patcher and nothing works. So is there something that doesn't allow the phone to install modified apps?
I can't install samsung keyboard apk on my samsung galaxy s9+
Are you trying to install a new version of an apk that's already on your phone? If so, can you uninstall the older version first?
it is Android 8.0 security features. Google removed install unknown source. You need to give specific permission to file browsers or apps that does the install - for example, if you have app, copy to your phone, and open Samsung File, and click to install.

Yeah I did that to allow installs from Samsung file browser and lucky patcher but still not installing. It let's me push the install button and starts the process then says app not installed. I made sure that the previous version is not installed and reset the phone but still not working
Yeah I have allowed installs from the apps I am using to try to install and there isn't a previous version on the phone I made sure to uninstall the app and restart the phone after and still not allowing the install. It starts the install then says app not installed

the app you trying to install, unmodified one, go apkmirror.com and search for it, it should list different version, some apps has arm and arm64 version, download it to your phone, and install it.
your s9/s9+ are arm64

Emm nobody?
Samsung blocked sideloading most of it's system apps. Nothing you can really do about it.
Replace app with tutuapp
Your Android application may not be suitable for them. What you need to do now is:
Try updating Android, otherwise you go to the store by reinstalling your device, but this is very time consuming and costly. You can also use tutuapp android (visit tutuappplus.net to download) this free app store that helps me use great apps for Android.

Question PS Remote Play detecting root, help plz

A13 stock. Magisk 25203. PS Remote Play app 5.5, and hidden in the Magisk deny list, like other apps.
Other typical root detecting apps foiled, but not this one. Hiding the Magisk manager itself didn't help.
Suggestions?
Assuming you're on the stock ROM, else you might need to use MagiskHide Props Config. Try turning on Zygisk and adding Displax's version of USNF and Shamiko (note: Shamiko is a closed-source root hider, so your call if you trust it). Keep in mind that if you use Shamiko, then the "enforce deny list" switch needs to be off. Shamiko reads from the list and handles it instead (so you do still need to have Google Play Services and PS Remote Play in the deny list). So far I haven't had anything detect root with this setup as long as it's in my deny list, though I don't have a PlayStation so I can't test it with this specifically.
I am on A13 stock. I'll look into this. FWIW, one doesn't need a PlayStation to see the app PS Remote App fail the root check, which is upon opening it, resulting in error 88001003

Interesting, it's happening the moment you open the app? I don't have a Playstation account, but I can open the app and get in far enough to see the account login screen with no error. That's on my system with the above utilities installed as well as Magisk and LSposed, running the Android 13 QPR1 beta. If you set all that up and it's still happening, try clearing the PS Remote Play app's data, too.

Yes. It may be using some data from the general PS App to auto-login, but it appears as instantaneous error to me, even after full storage/cache wipe and force close.
I just updated USNF, and installed the MOD version on top of that as you suggested, still no go. Disney+, Nintendo, other apps that check still work. Play Store certified, pass YASNAC.
Haven't tried the Shamiko thing yet
Are you hiding the Magisk app itself?
I'm using Canary manager, btw

I am hiding the Magisk app itself, with the default "Settings" name. Normal release (25.2/25200) of Magisk. Do you have any other root-related apps the PS Remote Play app might be looking for? (Though I myself have Fox's Magisk Module Manager, LP, the TWRP app, and Franco Kernel Manager installed on my phone and they don't seem to be setting it off.)
I'd suggest turning off USB debugging. I had similar issue with some of my banking and other apps and tried every possible solution but didn't work. Finally I read somewhere to turn off USB debugging and Eureka!!
I've narrowed it to something the recent app version 5.5 is doing
Versions 5.0 and earlier have no problems loading.
My USB debugging is/was off.
It must be looking at / for some other app I have installed, which is really annoying to troubleshoot
Hello,
As you said, I downgraded the app to the version 5.0 ans now I can login
But I can't associate the playstation
It ask me to upgrade to the last version and if i refuse, the association failes.
Do you have the same problem ?
Thx

We should also try to determine what exactly latest version is detecting and preventing app from working
