Google Now Internal Audio Recording Restriction - Screen Recorder - Android 7.0+ - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi.
It's a know issue that Google Now isn't allowing the screen recorder apps to record internal audio anymore, even the apps bring this notification in their audio settings.
Anyway, in my samsung note 5, rooted, and upgraded to android 7.0 I don't have any issue recording internal audio.
But, for some reason in my samsung tablet s2 (android 7.0 also rooted) it just doesn't work no matter what I do.
I have even tried a plugin, the only one of its kind, as far as I know, called INTERNAL AUDIO PLUGIN, available at the play store, with the promise to fix this problem for all rooted devices. It didn't help me with my tablet and I didn't need it in my mobile phone.
Is there anything that I can do to fix it? I have already read tons of pages in Google, but nothing seems to solve the problem.
One page said that what is needed to have internal audio recording working is a rom version of the system with modified modules, patched, to allow it to work.
I don't want the solution of buying an external hardware (like mobizen head phones), for example.
Do you guys know any solution?
Thank you.

thanks for all ideas
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks

The same thing is happening to me..
Please someone help.
Where did you put Videos
Do you have an external sd card do you have LOST.DIR folder on your phone .
Restore your backed up videos .
jje
My videos are on the phone's memory and not on an external sd and I don't have a LOST.DIR on my phone.
If I go to folder details and check last modified date I notice that all folders, from which videos have disappeared, have been modified at the same time.
I uploaded my backed up videos but after one week they were deleted again.
I don't think it's a resolution issue because I have two similar videos, one disappeared while the other is still there.
thanks
no one else had this happened to him?
I have the same problem and it only affects video files. It happens after reboots or after remounting my sdcard, so I suspect it is related to the mediascanner.
By the way do you have Vitamio installed? I seem to have this problem after installing this but I have no concrete evidence that Vitamio is causing the issue. Managed to capture a logcat when the videos disappeared could find nothing conclusive.
For now, I have uninstalled Vitamio to see if the persist (so that I can eliminate Vitamio as a culprit). Shall report back.
yes i have vitamio installed.
do you have smart lock installed? we need to see what is common between all of us.
please report back. thanks
smart lock no.
as i said, the problem is related to the mediascanner which makes vitamio a prime suspect. however i am still trying to confirm that.
you can try to uninstall vitamio and see if the problem still persist for you.
i uninstalled vitamio and waiting for the first video to disappear!
one more evidence pointing to vitamio being the culprit: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20571019&postcount=14167
still no videos missing after uninstalling vitamio so far. will continue to test.

fyi, I have just wrote to the developers of Vitamio (email: [email protected]) to investigate (and validate) the issue based on my testing and observation. I have also provided my logcat to them. I have also provided them a link to this topic as further evidence.
Let's see what response we get from them.
Hi all,
I'm the engineer from VOV IO, we investigated Vitamio's code and found the problem was raised by Vitamio.
I'm very sorry for that and will provide an update to this library.
However, Vitamio doesn't collect any personal information, the mediascanner is designed to provide the same interfaces to developers with Android's MediaScanner.

Help to update Sony's bluetooth library

Hi,
As you may know Sony has not updated its bt libs even for its own bt devices such as mw600. Hence at least the device I mentioned and own does not show song name or caller ID on its screen. This problem is fixed only and only in CyanogenMod Android ROMs.
There is a bug report discussion here about one version of CyanogenMod Android ROM which did not have the proper libraries. The developer has found the file causing the issue and has posted it and everybody confirms the fix.
Well, I tested putting the file in respective place in a GB rom but it did not work. Most probably a different file is needed.
Can someone help me with it?

Sony's Support Reply
Well, I recommned you go to Sony support site to see the whole answer, but anyway the answer confirms what I thought:
As far as I'm aware it's due to a lack of a certain Bluetooth profile this function isn't available in some phone's.

New Discussion Found
Well, I found another thread here talking somehow about this problem. Here are some highlights of the thread;
The MW600 will not show up Track Title or for that matter any other information when used with Android. Reason being, Android uses Bluetooth profile AVRCP v1.0. However, in order to get extra information (metadata) like Track Title, Caller Name, etc. you will need AVRCP v1.3 and above; which none of the Android version has...

It works on CM7 as CM7 supports AVCRP 1.3
Click to collapse
They've implemented it on CyanogenMod 7 (CM7) officially as of version 7.1.0, according to the changelog. Whether it actually works or not may depend on the particular phone and if it's been tested.
Also, it only works with the stock CM music player (so far). I'm currently using ThGoCm v3.0, and... it doesn't come with the stock player.
According to this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=18211506&highlight=avrcp#post18211506), it's at least partially working on FreeXperia CM7.2.0 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=911364)! That was for version FXP030 though, and it's currently at FXP046. I'll probably try it this weekend.
AVRCP stands for "Audio/Video Remote Control Profile". To put it simply, AVRCP is the part of Bluetooth that lets you stream music. Only version 1.3 and higher can show track info, and stock Android has been using version 1.0.

So this AVRCP thing is the reason why I get no proper display of the songs' titles on my bluetooth device because the phone does not communicate with it completely.
Now please somebody find a solution to update AVRCP on all roms, as it is on CM.

[Q] Neophyte needs pointers on ROM

Using Samsung Galaxy Note from Tmobile, the SGH-T879, a.k.a SGH-i717, Android version 4.0.4, Rooted
About me: I am not a developer or programmer; but, I am savvy enough to manipulate/configure Windows computers, remove malicious software and generally troubleshoot many common problems on a PC.
What I need to do: I need to record cell phone conversations at the line level (not speakerphone) and am beginning to believe that isn't possible on Android 4.0.4. Someone told me I might need a custom ROM that allows line recording. I don't understand ROM and its relation to the phone as well as I do Windows OS and its relation to the Computer; but, I want to learn so I can solve this call recording problem.
Can someone point me in the right direction for learning about this?
Sir, there are apps free from the GPlay Market for this...take a look, although you have to be rooted for some apps but you stated you are rooted.
A custom ROM is not needed.
Again, do a search via mighty Google and see any thing points you to the Market GPlay.
google voice has this built in. just press 4 while in call.

Thanks for the reply.
I have been working on this problem for two weeks+, have tried many call recording programs and had exchanges with their tech support. NONE will record from line on this phone. Their final answer is to just use speakerphone. I have had exchanges with others and found that not one has reported a successful LINE level recording with stock Android versions above 2.3.5. I have also read in forums where some were able to record but it broke when their Android versions were upgraded or they got a newer phone with a later Android version.
The recording programs offered on Google are, in my opinion, misnamed voice recorders as they record only when the phone is on speaker.
Please, is there a good place on the 'net where I can learn about ROMs?.

First read the thread linked below at least twice for help on understanding how to flash custom ROM builds etc.. Reading it twice will help make sure you grasp everything well prior to flashing your Note.
[Road & Ref Map]: Galaxy Note Super Everything Thread (I717) 9/11/2012: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1740367
Moreover, once you understand the steps needed in order to load different ROM builds etc.., below is a link to an excellent Gingerbread 2.3.6 XLA2 ROM by DAGr8 that has the line recording built in. That said, I still use it as my "go to" ROM when not trying out ICS & JB builds, due to the built in line recording, as well as the ability to enable Ad-Hoc WiFi support by switching out the wpa_supplicant file.
[ROM]XLA2[04/02] SAUROM Projekt 'One Rom to Rule Them All: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1522942
Also, if you do load SAUROM RC7 + RC7.1, search this thread link below for support in order to fix the alarm force close issue, and to add "Equalizer" from the play store to increase volume.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1525341
On a final note, deploy the xda search feature to find more tips & info...
Hope this helps a little...
Best to all,

Hey Alex, don't thank me, d'oh! I somehow skipped right past your first OP post. If you have a Samsung Galaxy Note from T-Mobile, "the SGH-T879 model", and not the SGH-I717 model from At&t, SAUROM may not work as intended, and you should post in T-Mobile Galaxy Note section, not here. That said, I'm not sure what would be best for the T-Mobile Note as far as line recording, but you should post and search in that specific sub-forum for help.
Best to all,
R
Yes, it is the T879 and thanks for the heads-up.
I don't see a T879 or T-mobile Galaxy Note section here. Where is it?
Thanks.
It isn't here - its an altogether different forum. Just go to the main list of supported phones and find it there.

[Q] CM9 Video Issue

Very sorry if this is a repost or in the wrong place, new here.
I've currently running the stable version of CM9 however, no TV apps are working. Whether it be Netflix, TVcatchup or iPlayer, they just won't work.
I can browse the app for as long as I like but as soon as I press to watch something the screen goes black, audio DOES work and the phone just seems to go into spasm.
Is there a known fix for this at all?
Thanks,
Jay!
As I understand it, these issues are related to DRM. Stock ROMs have some specific components that custom ROMs don't, which is why some features are not functional, such as TV out of FM radio. They are drivers that Samsung has never released, and probably never will. Netflix cares more about securing their content than they do about whether you enjoy the experience of using their product on your device. They've declined support for a Linux client for much the same reasons as above.
For future reference, the CM9 thread is a better place to ask these sorts of questions. Mods may move this thread accordingly.

TMobile Samsung S5 Nougat 7.1.2 no Wifi Calling Option

Hi everyone! I've recently flashed Nougat 7.1.2 (RR-N-v5.8.5-20171231-klte-Final) and GApps ARM 7.1 Full to my Samsung S5 SM-G900T on T-Mobile carrier. Although Wifi is on and connected, I've noticed that the Wifi Calling option does not exist. I've looked everywhere suggested such as setting>more>(this is where some say it should exist); I've also tried going to calling app>three dots at top right>settings(also does not exist here). I've also gone into settings>configurations>status bar>system UI tuner(also does not exist). Ive seen a couple of unanswered posts here with similar issues and was hoping I might revive the topic. Any help is appreciated. Please let me know if more information is needed to help with this. Thanks in advance.

Thank you for responding and pointing me to the thread Ibuprophen!
It seems that wifi calling is not available for the s5 on any custom ROM as it requires the touchwiz launcher, which I believe is proprietary to the carrier...? In my case T-Mobile.
This might be an excuse to start using google voice.

Though I don't use this type of calling, maybe you can look into "VOIP" (Voice Over IP).
It's the same concept as WiFi Calling but, using a different route.
I can't recommend any apps since I don't use this but, my daughter sometimes uses the Skype app.
Good Luck!

I've been researching Google voice. Will let you know how that pans out. How it all pans out for that matter.
I've been using Google voice along with the Hangouts dialer as a solution for losing the T-Mobile wifi calling and so far it's working very well.
I'm running the nemesis rebourn V5 rom. I have set up Google hangouts to make outgoing calls using my tmobile number. But this only works for OUTBOUND calls. And if anyone calls my tmobile number it defaults to "phone" app and I don't get the call. Also sms messages are supported using the WiFi calling feature on the stock marshmallow build.
So my two questions are one, how did you get the incoming calls to come through ip. And two have you made text messages route through ip using the hangouts and Google voice app. I do see options switching my # from tmb to Google voice. But I dont want to pay. And I also don't want to lose my ability to use my tmb number on lte or regular network.
