Smart Cover Option Unavailable on ANE-LX3? - Huawei P20 Lite Questions & Answers

Hello all,
I have ordered two of this phones for my employee and one of the reason I picked this model was the smart cover and the ability to answer calls without opening the flip cover.
Now that I received cover and phones of course I cannot find the option to activate the smart cover in the menu.
See the picture attached.
I am in Canada and the version is ANE-LX3.
Do you have the option to activate the smart cover in your menu?
Thank you
Fab

Settings > Smart Assistance > Smart Cover
And from there you can enable the cover detection.

My p20 lite also lacks the smart cover option. Does anyone know how to fix this?

My p20 lite also lacks that option. i have the ANE-LX3 model. I am in Chile. Somebody could fix it?

I live in Italy and I also have the same problem.
I unknowingly bought an ANE-LX2 through ecommerce from eglobalcentral-Hong Kong, and it also doesn't have the smart cover option.
Any help?
Thanks

I am having the same exact issue. I was worried that the issue was due to my phone being used in the US however my build is ANE-LX3 8.0.144(C605), Custom Version CUSTC605D001, Which I believe to be the firmware for Peru? (I've at least located someone reporting that build on their phone used in Peru). Unfortunately, seeing someone else with the same issue on a different build eliminates that possibility. :crying:

Big issue with phone model and 4G capability..

I bought a samsung galaxy s3 SGH-T999RWATMB from ebay. The seller said it was brand new but did not include a sim card. I was suspecting that the phoen was refurbished or used and being sold as new because normally new tmobile phones come with an new unused sim card in the box. Once I received it in the mail I saw that it was shrink rapped. So I thought it is brand new. I opened the box and after picking up the phone I immediately noticed that the back cover was not properly clipped into place. So maybe it was tampered with and the ebay seller shrink wrapped it to make it seem like it is brand new. I did not see the traditional tmobile plastic cover on the screen that says "do not use your old sim card. use the new sim card provided in this box". Instead, it was a colorful one that said it had a quad core processor.
Once the phone was turned on I immediately noticed that I was getting the Edge connection. I tried to update the apn settings to avail. It showed 4G but then after a while it kicked me off of 4G and automatically showed the Edge connection symbol. The internet is extremely slow on the phone. I had tmobile phones before and I would get strong 4G signals at home. the listing on ebay said it was a 4G capable phone, but obviously it is not. this is an older model I think. I called a tmobile store and the rep told me that all S3s have 4G capability except the one not sold by tmobile which is an older model that came out before tmobile had 4G, but the back cover of the phone said tmboile. So to make a long story short I think I got the short end of the deal on this transaction.
I am confused more than ever over this. Should I just return the phone or is there a fix for this? by the way, when I boot up the phone it displays the "android 4G" splash screen.
I am thinking maybe this phone was rooted or something.
The android OS version on the phone is 4.1.2.

I dialed that and I get a series of buttons on the screen. Seems like a diagnostic interface or something.

Order Dual sim to use with S4a and SGearS ?

I'm almost owner of a Samsung Gear S thanks to buying a new TV
Trying to be clever so i ordered a second SIM for this watch before it arrives. I ordered after phone contact with my provider a DualSIM card
But....is this the way to go? I'm not too familiar with Dual-SIM's. I know how those phones works of course but in two different devices that are connected in different ways?
Any feedback on this subject would be appreciated, maybe i can change my order if needed after reading your comments and/or experiences!
Thanks!

Sadly, in the US, it is illegal to sell more than one sim card per number, so we get a separate phone number for the phone that can be called directly, or that the main phone can forward calls to.
I imagine in your case, either the phone and watch ring at the same time or, as usually with two sims, your main device will ring first, then the second one after a preset number of rings.
I'd be interestd which of these two it is.

Okay....let you guys know when my watch arrives...I dunno if it before or after Xmas [emoji10]
The only way to have it ring simultaneously even when not connected by bluetooth is to use Google Voice.

Can you explain this?
Because after installing my Dualsim in my Samsung S4 Active and Samsung Gear S i'm only able to receive phone-calls directly on my Samsung Gear S when my phone is OFF (or in Aerplane mode).
Of course when connected to my phone it will ring on both devices. I think this is not a restriction of Samsung but of the Sim that is provided.
It would be great that if i leave the house without the phone i would be able to take the phones with the Smartwatch (and what is the use of the Dual-Sim option in the Smartwatch then?)

Received OP2 (Chinese Version) - UK, EE

Hello everyone,
I have received my OnePlus 2 today - it is the Chinese version of the handset with Oxygen OS 2.0 installed (with no bloatware). I thought I would post this in-case it is helpful to anyone, I can confirm the following:
4G/LTE work fine on EE
Dual SIM works fine - I can both make and receive from the two SIM cards - however I cannot see the phone number of the SIM in slot two (probably because the phone only has 1 IMEI I suspect - but this does not stop me making or receiving calls on the SIM in slot two)
I will continue testing things but so far so good, very happy.
EE is great for FDD-LTE phones from China. I've had loads work fine, including my old Chinese OnePlus One.
Interesting re. dual SIMs working - good news for importers. Out of interest, do you have two IMEIs on the inside back (my International variant does)?

I have just checked and I only have one IMEI listed on the inside back - the writing around the label is also in Chinese which is to be expected I guess.

Yep, makes sense.

I'm using three UK with a Chinese version OPT. LTE works however when signal falls down to 3G, the possibility is that it will not revert to 4G unless you reboot. very annoying. probably a baseband issue
I also have a chinese one from merimobile but mine came preloaded with a whole load of malware. An Oxygen rom of some kind with the usual chinese 3 "browser" icons and lots of "your phone is running slowly" notifications....
I flashed the Oxygen rom that is easy to find, gives Oxygen 2.0.0 and no malware that I can find, but it does have actionbar issues - both K9-mail and Up crash on startup with logcat lines similar to this :
AndroidRuntime( 1843): Caused by: java.lang.NullPointerException: Attempt to invoke virtual method 'void android.app.ActionBar.setDisplayShowCustomEnabled(boolean)' on a null object reference

I had similar problems. If you have enabled Dark mode under Customization then try turning it off. That fixed a lot of issues for me.

That's an issue for most of 1+2 I think. A fix in on the way, and you know how fast OnePlus is on giving updates (sarcastic)
Sent from my bacon!!!!!
Sorry to sound potentially dumb, but where are people buying the chinses OP2's from? I would rather an uk version, but may consider one as i'm about 1 millionth in the queue ha!

Thanks
But in case of Aliexpress try to find the seller with strong reputation and some fast delievery (like DHL or EMS) or you can wait for ages (many of them do not have the phone on hand and can tell you long stories why you should wait). And before payment contact the seller and ask the question about avaliabilty and when he can sent the phone to you.
I ordered from here if anyone is interested: http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-5-5-quo...stone-Black-/131573132890?txnId=1125008959003

How long did it take to arrive? Tempting!!
I guess they are just importing them in bulk from China? Still loving it?
It took a week to arrive via DPD - it came with a converter plug, screen protector and case for free too. I really do love the handset, it has worked out quite well for me having confirmed dual SIM functionality does work and I get LTE on EE.

Excellent! That's not too bad at all then. I'm on Three and need to check their LTE frequencies, to see whether I can get it. That could be a deal breaker for a chinese version for me. I love my LTE.

You should be fine with Three, if you get either the EU/Asia variant or the Chinese. The EU/Asia variant would be better as it can access both bands that Three use for 4G are 3 (1800Mhz) and 20 (800Mhz).

Will you be so kind to check this with *#06# call-button too?
For the label and listing doesn't have to be always right! The call thing is just to be sure ... Works on almost every mobile phone with a few exceptions.
How much shipping did they charge?

Google assistant ->iflytek

I think I made a big mistake buying this tablet. I got the Chinese version because I happened to be on a business trip in China at the time of release and there were no decent 8 inch devices with LTE (att) on the market in the states.
I am still on the original unlimited data plan that came out with the iPad 1 for 29.99 a month.
Everything seems just a little difficult when it comes to this tablet. But right now my issue is that it keeps disabling Google Assistant and turning on something called iflytek.
I can't figure out how to delete that app or to even keep Google Assistant as the default assistant. If anyone can help I greatly appreciate it.
I'm so tempted to sell this thing but there is nothing in the 8-inch category with LTE that has any thing resembling decent specs.
Google is banned in China, it appears that this is their domestic replacement for Google Assistant. You need to root (some other members will be more help on this) your device and flash it with a global ROM I suspect. I think you will not be able to buy equipment off the shelf in China that has Google installed on it.
A side note, I once had the bad experience of buying a Asus Zenfone 3 in Singapore and I found that I cannot use it fully in the UK because of missing LTE bands. Since then, I had learnt not to buy such equipment from outside my home country unless I am 100% sure it has the right hardware (and software) to be used at home. I had replaced the ZF3 with a Axon 7, making sure it is the A2017G model instead of the A2017 or A2017U models which both will not work properly in the UK.

This late reply might be able to help other users that have a similar problem. (Under EMUI 8) got to settings-> apps and notifications-> Default apps-> Assistance & voice input-> assist app and select google from the drop down menu.
I anyone has a suggestion on how to stop the assistant from popping up with the swype from bottom gesture (other than disableing "assist app") or changing the activation gesture I'd appreciate it. Currently I have to disable google assistant because I get too many false activation just scrolling up on pages.

Yep, even in 2020 the 8" android tablet segment is woefully small. I wish Samsung would bring back a high end 8" option (I really enjoyed the S2 back in the day).

Samsung S10 Plus Multi Line Issue related to Tmobile Digits

Hello, I'm new to XDA. I'm enjoying all the great information and hope to contribute in the future. Here is my issue. I was running an S9 plus and using multi line settings to enable and second phone number to come in to my device. As a Tmobile customer, I was channeling that number through the Digits program. Fortunately because of the multi line settings I was able to bypass the Digits application and use the native multi line feature. Now, I upgraded my phone to the new S10 Plus.
Originally I was told that multi line settings are available on the S10 Plus. Now that I have the phone, I'm told it does not support multi line settings. Therefore, I had to download the Digits app in order to have to use of my secondary line coming in to one phone.
My big problem.... Digits is extremely unreliable. It's has a 90% failure rate with me at this point. No good! Especially since the secondary line is a business line.
Question: Is there any way to get mulit line settings in the S10 PLus?? or can I somehow use the dual sim function that I'm told exists within my S10 Plus (by the way..., I'm not even convinced that I in fact do have a dual sim even though I bought this top of the line phone)
I would appreciate any feedback or support that's out there.
Thank you,
Michael

Ok well let's get. The easy one. If you are in the US then it is not dual Sim. Those are mainly used in Asia and Europe. Not so much in the US.
The only ones that could make it happen is Samsung. And it was most likely removed due to the US not using it. So no I don't think there is.
