<Q> How to disable Swiftkey keyboard or how to remove - Huawei P20 Lite Questions & Answers

Hello everyone.
I'm trying to remove Swiftkey keyboard from P20 lite and I'm stuck in search. Can't even find the deactivate option on app. Anyone knows what i can do? The P20 lite is locked in Vodafone network, so the idea is at least disable it if i can't remove it.
Pls help, if posible.

I want to remove the app not the change from Swiftkey to Gboard. Or best to disable it.

You can't.

Not possible with standard procedures because it is a system app and button disable is bluish.
But if you are determined to do it no matter what, you can unlock bootloader and then delete the app.

You can uninstall system apps without root using ADB. Check out this guide to know how:
https://www.xda-developers.com/uninstall-carrier-oem-bloatware-without-root-access/
It's a fairly simple process but you will need a computer to run commands.

Thank you for the screen shot which worked for me on P20 lite. For some reason Swiftkey had "taken over" the phone and forced me to use their keyboard even though I have Avast security installed. It was driving me mad......

Better late than never, but you can go to Settings -> System -> Language and input -> Virtual keyboard -> Add a virtual keyboard, and then disable swiftkey so only Gboard or any other keyboard is enabled. This won't delete the app, but at least hides it everywhere and prevents it from being used at all.

You can also use the Huawei Multi-Tool. It gives you access to a great variety of tools that work with many huawei devices. under miscellaneous gives you access to delete system apps. This process can be done via ADB but it's nice to have an User interface to help along with it. There is two Swift keyboard apps. I deleted both and have not issues. I replaced the keyboard with Gboard.

[Q] Disable select input method notification

Is there any way for me to remove this from the notification bar? It seems to me unnecessary
I use the stock rom if that makes any difference
Yeah I find that to be a little annoying as well...
I get around this by making sure I use the back button and exit out of the keyboard completely after using the messaging app, this takes the notification away until I re-use the keyboard for txting, etc.
That I know, I want to remove ir completely... That's what I need help with
I don't think it's possible to get rid of through a settings option as such, but if you really wanted to you could try your hand at decompiling and removing the notification at the coding level (smali & xml, etc)...
Or politely ask a dev to look into it
Ask a dev it is, cause I don't have the slightest notion of android coding... Now, can someone kindly point me in the direction of a dev?
You could edit the status bar image and make it transparent as a temp fix?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA
If you have root, you can more the stock keyboard from /system/app to /data/app , and move the keyboard you wish to use the other way (/data/app to /system/app).
This changed the default keyboard for me, enabling me to deselect the stock one, thus removing the notification (It doesn't come up if you only have one input method enabled.)
AOKP roms have the option to disable that entirely btw.
Do you all mean the keyboard switcher in the status bar when typing a text?
If so, see the link in my sig...

In AOKP Rom, Settings -> ROM Control -> General UI -> uncheck "Show IME Switcher" -> ???? -> Profit?
Solved!
Try this:
Browse to /data/system/inputmethod
Delete subtypes.xml
Reboot
Now, if you've another input method you want you'll have to open the xml doc and remove entries to the one which keeps popping up (for me it was Google voice input - but luckily I'm still able to use the voice search in Google Now despite deleting subtypes.xml )
Otherwise, this should work. I tried unticking all but one input methods in the settings menu but it never worked. This does.

Remove Select Input Notification HTC
I know this is a old thread put you can remove the notification even if you don't have root. I have HTC to go Settings - Apps- All - Go To Touch Input Click Disable - Then Go to Settings - Language and Keyboard Remove Checkmark Next to Google Voice Typing - Restart Phone No more Select Input Notification. This method should work for any device although the name of the stock keyboard in the first step may be different.

Disable the swipe up feature for Google Assistant on Mate 10

I recently installed Nova on my mate 10. Every time I try to swipe up from the bottom of the screen to get to the drawer (all apps), both drawer and Google Assistant will show. I tried so many way and did so many research and still could't figure out how to disable this Google Assistant shortcut feature. I drive everyday so I enjoy using Google Assistant to make phone calls when I am driving.
Does any one know a trick hoe to disable this Google Assistant swipe up shortcut in mate 10?
Thanks!
Hi, its simple. Follow this:
1. Go to Settings then search "Default Apps"
2. Select "Assistance & voice input" then select none
Enjoy your new mate
Thank you @deodass, my same problem solved perfectly!
If you do this on Pie, however, you can no longer access Google Assistant in any other manner (as far as I can tell). I have a Mate 10 and am using the off-screen navigation gestures (i.e., relying on the home button). Any thoughts?
Isn't it easier to disable the Gesture?

Read again, I'm using off-screen navigation (I have a regular Mate 10 with a home button). That choice is not offered unless you're using gestures.
deodatts, you litteraly saved my life. I had been searching for months for a solution to deactivate this pain in the a**.
Created this account here especially to thank you !!!! cheers
I want to get rid of it too, but I want to keep Hey Google. When I initially disabled assistant, Hey Google still worked. Then, while looking for a way to change the tts voice (only two options, red and orange, showed up in the Google app) I installed Google Assistant from the Play Store and deleted it afterwards, and "Hey Google" under Voice Match in the Google app settings has been greyed out ever since unless I enable Google as the assist app and not just as voice input, which again enables the annoying swipe up gesture. Any idea how to go back?

Hiding apps from drawer

Loving my Mate 20 Pro, coming from HTC U11 big difference! (though to be honest am missing my phone a bit :crying: )
Anyway on the HTC I had the option to hide apps from the app list/drawer. Not uninstall them, just hide them from the list of installed apps. Is this possible with the Huwaei? Don't want nosy husband/kids to know all the apps I have installed. And yes they all have access to my phone
EMUI has a "Hidden Application Menu" which you can access by doing a two finger zoom gesture on the home screen (reverse of a pinch)
After opening this tap the + to add apps. Then just pinch to go back to normal.
Just remembered - this is disabled by default on the M20P so do the following:
- Install "Tweaker for Huawei" from the Play Store
- When you go to turn on the hidden application menu it will say you can't and to download an addon
- download the addon and tap to install it - you will be prompted to allow installs
- enable the hidden application menu then restart the phone
That should be it.

Thank you! I have installed and installed the add on and enabled hidden application menu no problem. I am zooming in on all screens, nothing. Zooming in on all pages does nothing, and cannot find a setting anywhere to hide an app.
You need to zoom out XD
Aha I actually meant out as in a reverse pinch. Nothing a happening
And your setting in Tweaker looks like this?

Yes exactly.
Then I don't know That should be it as long as you restarted the phone after enabling it.

Yes strange, I did restart phone. I'll try again.
thank you very much
I can now hide applications running on my Mate 20 pro
I have been faced with the problem of hiding applications but applied the solution suggested by you, but I must explain to you why you did not work first after you have all the steps listed + restart the device must return to the same option and activate it again and on activation you will see a message that was activated and after this step You must change Drawer and make Standard and then work with you

Hello, if you change "Drawer" to "Standard" and now hide the app and then select back "Drawer", does the app stays hidden or it shows inside the app drawer?
Thank you

a few questions

hi all, i have a realme 7 pro and i want to disable the google screen to the left, cant seem to find the setting anywhere.
id also like to enable keypad sounds and change the volume of it? right now its super loud.
when i cloned my old phone to my new one (realme 7 pro) i chose to not bring any apps over but it decided to install some google apps, such as google photos and file manager, so now i have 2 of each and its confusing, how do i remove the google apps and keep the realme ui apps? when i go into the app settings the disable button is greyed out.
last but not least is there a way to use a stock android launcher? im not a big fan of the realme ui.
Cheers!

Hi mate, did you get the google screen to the left disabled? I'm also curious about disabling it

Question How to disable the soft keyboard completely for a single app ? (not root)

Hi, I am using an app (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.carrera_toys.carreragoplus) that unfortunately is badly coded : the soft keyboard is showing up each time you press on this app interface, which is really irritating given this app does not need a keyboard at all.
How can I automatically disable the soft keyboard when this app is being used ? I am not root.
Is there an third partly app that allows this ? Regards
Check the system settings regarding the keyboard to see if you can change anything. Or connect a BT mouse.
I have already looked into the settings, there is nothing. I guess it is necessary to install a 3rd party tool for that, but I do not which one
