Hi,
I recently bought this head unit on ebay. It's running Android 4.2.2 on a dual core 1.6Ghz CPU and everything is very smooth and fast. The device is rooted too.
The unit comes with navigation software that start automatically when you press the hardware 'GPS' button on the device. I would like to change what program is started when I press that button (ie. start TomTom or Sygic). Does anyone have an idea on how to do this? I've been in contact with the Chinese seller on ebay, but they don't seem to understand my question. I keep getting answers back that tell me how to change maps in the provided navigation software :silly:
So if anyone could point me in the right direction, that would be greatly appreciated.

Since the unit is rooted you can install the xposed framework. Using the Xposed additions module you can remap the function of buttons. I'm not sure if this will worth with the unit but it's worth a shot :good:

Disable lock screen ads
adb into the kindle
pm block com.amazon.kindle.kso
reboot
seems to work so far.
freetime profiles causes problems. unlock to get the kindle out of the loop if you find yourself in one.

Freetime profile problem
Like i said though.... Watch out if you have free time profiles as it will cause a loop when you go to exit free time. If you dont use freetime then it wont be an issue as far as i can tell.
Do i need to use a fastboot factory cable for kindle Or a normal micro sub cable?
Ok so i found a easy way of removing the lockscreen adds i just did a online chat to amazon said i just bought it and not happy with the adds he removed it without me haggling all done £10 saved adds removed my transcribed below

How do I send the adb command? I have set my fire hd 6 to adb on, but can't see how to send the actual command...

I can confirm that although this tweak works initially, it wreaks havoc if you try to use Profiles on the device at all.
I am using the new 2014 Fire HD 7 running the newest Fire OS 4.5.2. I was setting up this tablet for my mother in law that we got as a gift. Before I tried the adb command to block com.amazon.kindle.kso, I had experimented with the "Profiles & Family Library" in the settings by adding my own "Adult" amazon login just to try prime streaming and see how the profile switching worked. I then hid my profile from the lock screen and forgot about it.
Some time after I blocked the ads, I went back to try something on my profile again, and as soon as I tried to switch to my profile things went crazy. It basically got stuck in a kind of "lockscreen loop" going back and forth between the lock screen and my login screen a couple of times every second. Rebooting would not allow me to escape the loop!
Took me a while to put two and two together and remember to unblock the ads. I still had adb access through all of this and the problem cleared up immediately after unblocking.
It isn't just "FreeTime" profiles that are affected. It's using profiles at all and user switching that gets broken.
So this tweak seems to really only be an option if you (or who you are giving it to!) will only use a single profile, and won't experiment with profiles, or they could end up with a malfunctioning device.
I wonder if there's a package to block that handles the profile switching, that would prevent someone from ever accidentally getting in this loop after blocking the ads package?

I posted this question about 4 weeks ago and there has been no response yet. It's not even listed as a device on this site. It might be because it is from Verizon. They make it almost impossible to access your own device. This will be the last Verizon device that I buy.

I also have the Verizon ellipsis 10 I have $500. Into mine, with all the accessories! I want to Root it. I had problems with my service, for over two weeks I wasn't getting any service, So I told them to disconnect me, because I wasn't paying for something that I wasn't getting. They continued to charge me for three months after wards. I wasn't even using my tablet at that point. They sent me to collections. I feel that after paying $500. For the products & getting screwed over, that I deserve to have better options & control of my device. Has anyone safely rooted this device???? Please help!

Can I install a custom bootloader on this? And root? In developer options it has an option for OEM unlocking.
I'm guessing no one with any knowledge or skills has one of these. A friend gave me his after he factory reset it and got locked out. It'd be nice to have root, and CM on it.

Still locked out of that Verizon eclipse 10 tablet?, I'm guessing its a frp lock?, If so I half found half created a bypass process for it. Still need it?

I also would love an frp workaround.. I have a client who has hired my computer security company to remove an frp lock from their grandsons ellipsis 10 tablet... he forgot his password...

I know this is an old thread but the FRP workaround on this device is pretty easy. You have to side step the device setup download a few files and install them and then you can add and additional G account, then finish device setup and do a factory reset from the device settings screen.
Visit the following page and in setup you need to download and install Google acount manager 5 and the add a google acount apks. you then setup a new G acount through the browser. They have a youtube video on how to do it if you look for a link on their page.

Ok so I hear the bypass used here as mentioned used to work but if your tablet now has the latest updates, it won't. When I try to get In via browser it won't, stating that java needs to be enabled. Well tonight I finally slipped In and got into Google somewhat of a browser. And I can search and click links but when I go to try and download apk files, just nothing at all happens.
To get into the Google browser I go thru the setup till I get to verify account. Hit the forgot email, and typed in a phone number. Hit next band then it asks for first name. But now, on the keyboard below notice the small microphone. Tap that. Then, tap the settings icon on the left. After that, go to About on the bottom left. Then legal, on the right side. Then, tap privacy policy. On the very top look for the colorful GOOGLE and tap that. In. From there I can't get the apk files to download. Or if they are downloading, no option to open. Can anyone help from here??
just add 2 google accounts! first thru google account manager then thru settings under accounts and voila back out all the way to activation screen and finish the activation as normal and your done had to try different thing because info on this is very limited and the other tips did not work for me
side note developer mode would not turn on no matter how many times i tapped on build number while in bypass mode developer works once your in as main account

I sold off the few Elipsis 10 tablets that I had, but you were correct in that they were not updated when I bypassed frp as the last update patched those vulnerabilities.
You have to experiment to get to the chrome browser and be able to install apks, same as almost any other android device with an FRP lock.

I would like to have Google Assistant pop up when I say "OK google" rather then Google Now. There doesn't seem to be much support in the Custom Roms area for this device either? I have a couple weeks before I can return this tablet and wasn't sure if I should get a Refurbished Tab S2 that I saw on Amazon for $319? I know the Tab S3 has only been out since April, but I would have thought there would be more development by now since we do have root access?
You're right about that. But it's Google assistant that's not working.
It appears this tablet is too expensive for much development. You might return if this tablet doesn't provide specifically what you need.
It WILL be getting Oreo, though I'm not sure that'll bring assistant.

Any suggestions on how to get Google Assistant to work? I would be willing to root if that were my only option.
I'm going to look into it, but time is crunched right now.

There's an "assistant enabler" magisk mod if you get root. I haven't tested it, but it worked on my phone. It should work on any magisk rooted device I guess.

Hello. There has been many threads regarding Sky Go - I've read them all and still can't get Sky Go working. I have went on freelancing sites and offered guys up to £300 to either patch the app, create a new app similar to virtual HDMI output, or custom ROM but no one has been able to do it. So this is my last hope. I noticed there was a fella on here who has removed HDMI output from apps, but he hasn't been online since December, and hasn't replied to my messages yet.
Can anyone do this? I need it running on Android 6.0+. Either patched Sky Go UK app, or custom rom. I am still paying for this to be done via Bitcoin. If you have this done already, I will pay £300. I will hand money over to the mod. Hope this is not against the rules
