Under the great efforts of developers like B-S-G, Arnova8G2, cstark27, xtrme and so on, our device xiaomi mi8 is able to acquire excellent pictures as what pixel 3 & 3XL can do. Let me make some conclusions on this thread.
The most flawless versions are from B-S-G, which are named like "MGC_6.1.021_MI8_V2b.apk", many developers use B-S-G versions as a base and add more features or compabilities. B-S-G versions can accessed in a telegram channel.

The other versions are not intended to work on mi8, but you can also try it by yourself. In my experience, some of them DO NOT WORK on MIUI roms.

For the fresh users of google camera, here are some settings recommended by B-S-G. They are just an basic instructions, if you have higher demands it is better to change the settings by yourself.
OP6 don't use the same IMX363 Exmor RS lens. So tweaks are probably needed for sure.

I'm sorry to tell you that recently I've been following developers' work in oneplus 6. Here's the link: https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6/themes/oneplus-6-google-camera-port-t3797544/page39 . And I didn't receive any new about mi 8.
I got my Mi 8 Global version from Hong Kong and unlocking my bootloader. I have to wait 15 days to complete the bootloader unlock. I will try to install latest Arnova Gcam when it is ready.

I tried many versions, the only one available is OP6v0.1_MGC_5.1.018_FINAL_3.4A.apk, but severe bug still occured.
The black level of hdr+ image look like purple, i can't change tint using Manual fixed black level offset.

The Mi8 is available in Honkong and it has global ROM!

after unlocking ubl, you just have to install twrp, and backup from there....

My Mi 8 is the Mainland China version, so I borrowed my friend's account to unlock the bootloader without waiting for 15 days. I can do that because his MIUI account has been used for one year longer, there is not such limit. Then I can edit my build.prop file to enable the camera2 API.

Yeah, global isn't released.
So far I've tested with several versions built by Arnova6G2 in OP6 forum. Thought it were not meant to be running in Mi 8. I found it that the OP6 versions provided best compatibility.
OP6v0.7.1test_GoogleCamera-Pixel2Mod-Arnova8G2-V8
This version is the best choice for now.
Present bugs: washed out color, incorrect color in some light condition, view finder lags after stayed on view finder for a while, portrait not work.

MIUI stable rom with enabled camera2api
Stable Versions are available for many devices but, i couldn't find one Redmi 5(Rosy). Has anybody got a stable version of google cam or Gcam?

Yes I have one that completely work everything on Stock ROM like portait mode on front/rear and even slow motion too but sadly it was old version (5.1) other new version seems to not work...

I use this version Mod google camera BSG v2e
You can try other version here Google Cam BSG, 6.2 and above for Android 9 Pie, 6.1.021 and below work on Android 8 Oreo, try both BSG v2a or BSG v2e, it is the most stable version I think on Redmi 5 , it also have night sight
gcam 6.2 all working version. follow the instructions to the point.

I realised your link was for Andoid 9. I'm on MIUI10.1 official global which runs Android 8.1
As we all know stock camera is great working as is, but video was lacking stabilization especially for 4K 30fps! For a premium flagship device, Xiaomi did not even bother implementing this. But worry no more, after concurring with AEonAX and his extreme generosity, EIS is working now for 4K 30fps on stock MIUI 10 rom.
This was tested fully by me, using Xiaomi EU rom 9.1.24 on a Chinese Mix 3 device. It does requires root, so this may not work for Global Mix 3 shipped since there are no working root as current that does not break stock camera functionality.

Instruction:
1. Make sure your device is rooted, and installed Magisk 17.3
2. Download module and activate using Magisk.
3. Reboot and clear data/cache, and allow permissions.
Use as you would normally, and 4K 30fps will now have EIS!

I have a Global version with xiaomi.eu but it did not work for me. Error message says can't connect to the camera

This one worked for me. Global version running Arrow OS. Dont forget to set all permissions on Camera app after reboot.

OP has linked to Miui Stock replacement version. It is only for MIUI-Based Perseus ROMS. You can try ANXCameraMagisk_13.BitterGrotesqueWalkingstick.zip from https://github.com/XEonAX/ANXCamera10/releases .
Ensure that ROM identifies your device as perseus. P3R doesn't
Please read before you post guys! I specfically mention this is for stock miui only! I also mentioned it might not work for global....

Well, to be honest, the comment wasn't that specific since it didn't say the app wouldn't run on other roms. I tested, it didn't work, so I posted to save other people the trouble.

c2api is not enabled on your phone.
This two magisk modules are only for MIUI.
If the modules don't work via Magisk maganer, try to flash them via TWRP.

It's just for gcam, but i dont have any problem with the stock camera. Both camera modules are working well with both software.
So camera2 api is not enabled yet even after the Pie update?! There were many posts talking about it...

Hi , i found that eu rom is the best and i want to install it with the gcam ,cause i don't really like the stock camera , i'm pretty new with rooting , twrp or magisk , can i ask you some good guides to install them all ,possibly in english , i searched some but couldn't find a good one.

Please Help Me!! i recently installed aosp extended rom version 6.4 which is based on andoid 9 pie into my redmi 5plus.. the rom works fab but no gcam apk works in it.. ive tried about 50-60 gcam ports including arnova's and what not, but still it crashed before even opening.... i tried downgrading aosp version to 6.2.. but still i face same issues.. i do not have any gcam working,,, should i change my rom??? WHAT TO DO PLEASE HELP!!....
----------ALSO... EVEN IF THE CAMERA2API COMMAND IS PRESENT IN THE BUILDPROP OR NOT... THE MANUAL CAMERA SHOWS ALL TICK....------------

That might cause the problem. Stock version of gapps come with Google Camera which may interfere with your gcam apk. Try installing packages which don't include Google Camera, such as pico, nano, micro, mini or full.

Clean flash is always preferred, especially if it comes to rom/gapps things. Flashing it directly probably won't remove previous gapps package so yeah.

I always go for pico or nano, they have everything that's not available in play store, the rest can be downloaded directly from it.

It's the one before all night shot got introduced (it's a Pixel 2 port) but all features work as intended (camera, video, slow-mo, portrait, front and back flash) all stable and nice picture quality.
You'll need to uninstall the GCam apk that's pre-installed in the device.

The front camera will not work as all gcam port have problem of front camera in redmi note 5/ 5plus.... So i u want to click selfies you can use snapchat or instagram or any other camera app from play store..
