Has anyone tried Lineage OS Beta 4 of the Open Kirin Website with the Mate 10 Pro L29?
Would be interested in a comparison with EMUI as now apparently most of the bugs are resolved (camera etc.)

If someone can link me to a full flashable EMUI ROM that I can go back to if I don't like Lineage, I would be happy to be the guinea pig.

Hello .. i flashed it on my Mate 10 Lite .. the rom is pretty smooth and reliable .. flashed it through TWRP .. everything seems to be working .. but same as carbon the portrait and wide aperture doesn't work .. the camera just hangs until you turn them off .. front cam doesn't save pictures when beauty mode is on .. other than that it's pretty good for a beta release .. i don't know about NFC though as my device doesn't support it .. give it a shot .. and by the way .. you should use HURUPDATER method for returning to stock EMUI .. i use it and it's working like a charm for me .. going to check for bugs even deeper .. give it a shot !
NFC is no go with Los. Tried Carbon out, it has NFC so may stick to Carbon in the mean time.

You dont need one, flashing los only changes system partition meaning you only need to backup your own system.img , if you dont like los flash your emui system back and your good to go

The only issues are nfc and that some of the camera gimmicks do not work but for regular point and shoot it's same quality as stock

How is battery life on the LOS?
I'm more interested in hearing how does this ROM excels the Stock EMUI?

consistent 6hrs sot for me

I've installed Magisk, works fine.
And for TWRP, I suggest installing Unofficial by @Pretoriano80. Now I can see content properly and also access to all partitions works fine.

I thought pretoriano twrp didn't work with custom roms. I normally get stuck in the splash screen screen of twrp.
Did you do anything special for it to work?

pretoriano twrp loads ok for me, but I had problems with some partitions - couldn't mount system in write mode and other errors.
Official twrp, works on with LOS, but I have one problem - cant write Cache partition...

I only tried Lineage and Resurrection. Lineage seems smoother to me, Resurrection does have some more customisations but I switched back to Lineage.
Did anyone tried installing gcam on this lineage?
Is it working properly?

RR if you want tons of customization in your rom (some customization are not working properly)
Lineage for more stability
And carbon for something in between both of them

I've been running this ROM for 2 days straight, and have 0 issues. I started to make this ROM for my self, but decided to share it anyways.
Feel free to test it out, just be aware, that your favorite apk most likely didn't make the debloat-cut. That said, the footprint of the rom, is around 1G.

The ROM is rooted with magisk V12.
The rest is up to you ?
Rom is very fast and clean they don't have any ****ty apps and everything ;p on battery I have 2 days with hard/medium usage ^^ they sleep as baby
Its for the 920 but with other kernel perhaps also for 925?

go to recovery ,-- wipe-- advanced wipe , check all except internal storage
flash rom and magisk and done ! i use the s7 edge battery so i have to flash an aditional kernel to work

Sir just flashed this build at first process system stopped but after a while I tested some function of this ROM from my point of view it is pretty stable . I feel that battery would also b pretty good on this one.

Just wanted to let everyone know I now have a working Custom Rom port from the U11. This port has a few minor bugs I'm working on, home button does not work, signal for Tmobile cuts in and out, and DPI needs adjusted. So with that said, Once I get the bugs worked out and reach out to the Rom Dev we will have a custom rom port.

Yes, and I just realized why the hot-spot wasn't working . I will be fixing it in the am and RE uploading. Yes it has aroma, it's a slightly modified stock rom. Not getting too heavy into it just yet, Oreo will be out real soon for T-Mobile and once it does I will jump on that.

I have tried, OpenKirin's LOS is by far superior.
It passes SafetyNet and is much more stable and optimized for Huawei devices.
I am currently testing RRos 6.0.0 which has been posted on XDA, but I plan to install Lineage OS beta 4, Can I flash it over the other rom without having to do a complete wipe? Does anyone know if gapps are included in the rom?

These new treble-based ROMs should be flashed with "fastboot flash system /path/to/system.img".

The Reason openkirin works on EMUI 8 is treble support which EMUI 5.1 doesn't have. Update your phone EMUI 8 then you can try any treble rom rom like openkirin, pH treble.

Clean flash it. Wipe cache + format it
Running the LOS beta4 build now, and its looking really good...
It took me a few tries to get a stable install. First couple of installs I was getting a ton of force-close on various apps. I'm wondering if it might have been due to me trying to use the Lineage SU addon, instead of magisk? I think I tried to install via TWRP once or twice, too, rather than through fastboot.
As of this moment, Ive got it running with the OpenKirin build of TWRP, and magisk 16.4 and it even seems to pass SafetyNet check!
Final good install steps were:
- boot into TWRP, do advanced wipe of all but SD card, then format (the "yes" option one)
- install the LOSbeta4 to system from fastboot ( fastboot flash system openkirin_los_beta4.img )
- boot OS and do basic android config
- reboot into TWRP, install magisk 16.4, clear davlik/cache, reboot to OS
- install magiskmanager 5.7
- ???
- profit

I don't know about other openkirin ROMs but lineage 15.1 v4 has huawei stock camera built-in.
[Magisk]MIUI stock camera for all Custom roms.

I'm just coping some of the instructions i gave to two testers ( @AEonAX @Jaskirat singh ) in PM. if someone else want to be part of this it'll be helpful post
I'm sending you lot of camera mods to check, some are specific for POCO other are for other device.
What you need to do is to check each and every one of them and see if any of them are working (partially or fully) if not at what step they are breaking (Bootlooop , Random reboot or Force-close)
If any of them work even partially we'll get fully working mod soon. if not than we need to wait for long time.
Ignore all other bugs that may occur after flashing these mod, just focus on if camera is working or not. (Fingerprint may not work, Bluetooth FC all these gets resolved as soon as you uninstall Magisk Module of camera mod so Don't worry)
Personally i tried poco specific mod and they didn't work for me but i want you to give them a shot as well.
Do maintain the list i asked (working full/partial & breaking point ) and send me the same after you are done with all of them.
Let's see if we are lucky or not by checking if any of them works for you !

The port is for those who are on custom roms. You can still get the stock miui camera through this port even if you are on a custom rom.
