Charging Mediapad M5 from power off - Huawei MediaPad M5 Questions & Answers

Hi, guys. I am interested if someone has solved the problem of M5 not being able to charge from power off state, if the tablet is running Project Treble ROM.
So, in my case it is not acceptable to enter into Huawei eRecovery if it is off and a USB is plugged in. I am looking for a workaround, whether it will boot to system instead or something similar.
For information I tested this with Resurrection Remix, Phh's v20 and v19 with and without Su and Gapps on SHT-W09. And in all cases, if the device is off and I plug it to a USB it enter into the eRecovery.
Thanks

I too would like to know this. I unlocked bootloader and it wont charge. Was wondering if I re-locked bootloader would it then charge from power off state? If so would I be able to unlock bootloader again using same key from Huawei?

Haven't re-locked M5, but I have locked and unlocked M3 with the same code quite a lot.

Ok I will relock.shouldn't imagine there being a problem really. Thanks

Bricked my phone please help

Okay, so i am using a xperia z2, cant rmb the version of the firmware, but i successfully rooted my device so i went on to try and flash cm11 onto my device. However, upon flashing cm11 and gapps into my phone through dual recovery i was no longer able to boot up my phone. Holding the power switch causes the device to vibrate, like perhaps every two seconds, but does nothing meaningful. Holding the powerswitch and the volume up key boots into fast boot, which is just a blank screen, but with the blue led that i read on the internet meant fastboot. Problem is, I am unable to get windows to install the relevant drivers for S1 Fastboot as it is displayed on my device manager window, and nothing i try will help. Ive downloaded usb drivers from numerous sources, including but not limited to flashtool, and nothing can get the fastboot to be recognised by the computer. Kindly advise on what i could do to restore my phone please! any help is greatly appreciated!!!!
I live in Singapore and i understand that bootloaders are by default unlocked? I'm not sure if i have to install any form of kernel , but i have a feeling this may be the cause of the problem? Please be kind, I am new to this entire rooting business. Once again any assistance is greatly appreciated!

Folow this to unbrick your device
You need an unlocked bootloader to flash cm11, no bootloader comes unlocked
There is unlockable and non unlockable

Urgent Help. Hard-bricked my device in warranty.

I have hard bricked my device, even motherboard is dead, no sound when connected to PC. Phone is in waranty. What should i say to realme support so they won't be able to tell that I tried to install custom ROM and charge me for motherboard. It's a new phone. I unlocked the boot-loader.

best bet is to visit SC and tell them your device stopped working after official update . don't say anything else
I told them that the phone failed to start after a software update. They repaired it in 2 hrs and gave it back. So the motherboard was not fried as I thought.
What happened was that the TWRP recovery someone provided here has not worked, my device failed to get in to TWRP recovery after I have re-started the phone, So, I tried to flash with other TWRP versions that some people linked to in their posts on Realme U1 on other websites. None of them worked and after sometime my phone went in to bootloop, I got it in to fastboot screen by holding down the power and vol down button and tried various fastboot commands, none of them fixed the bootoop. I finally gave the command 'fastboot oem reboot -recovery' then it switched off the phone.

Oneplus 5T Stuck without ROM

Hey Guys,
my oneplus 5T is currently without Firmware. Problem is that my device is currently not recognised by any Computer to Transfer any Rom or Flash new Firmware.
Furthermore i can't boot to fastboot mode directly, i dont know why but i think since i tried Android 10 or the WEEB kernel, USB and the boot to Recovery/Fastboot is very unreliable.
Yesterday i managed to boot into Recovery bot it took like an hour to get the Timing Right ad now im struggling with getting it into any of those 2 modes. The "Bootloader unlocked" warning makes it even more difficult to get the Timings Right.
so if anyone has a tip on how to boot into one of These modes or has a solution for forcing the boot into one or another i would be glad, bc then i could install a Rom via otg Adapter.
cheers
Edit: It worked by booting the device with the data cable connected. I dunno why but i could instantly enter recovery and it found my storage on my pc.....weird. Thread closed!

[SGP321][NON-UNLOCABLE BL] Possibility to unlock BL or install custom kernel/ROM

Hey everyone,
My questions are at the end below, but they need a bit of history which might be useful to someone in similar position.
I have SGP321 and used it stock for a number of years without much issues. Lately though it seems the age of the device shows itself and I wanted to try a custom LineageOS ROM on it - I 've done this before with several other devices.
I tried to follow this guide - [Guide/tutorial] Sony Xperia Tablet Z LTE or Wifi Any version to Android 8 - however the service menu of the tablet showed that the bootloader cannot be unlocked. Attempts to unlock the device using fastboot oem unlock 0xYOURUNLOCKKEY using and unlock code from https://developer.sony.com/develop/open-devices/get-started/unlock-bootloader/ showed that the bootloader of the tablet is indeed locked and the lock cannot be removed. I also tried to use the Flashtool to unlock the bootloader - again unsuccessfully.
Being stubborn as I am, I rooted the tablet using this guide - [Guide][Easiest Way]How to Root Xperia Z Android 5.1.1 Without PC and Get SuperSu - which works for Tablet Z as well. Having root access gives possibility to work around the bootloader lock to some extend since access to the tablet storage happens from the OS. I proceeded to copy twrp-3.3.1-0-pollux.img to the external sdcard of the device and executed from a root terminal on the device:
dd if=/sdcard1/twrp-3.3.1-0-pollux.img of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/FOTAKernelwhich completed without complaint, then I rebooted and tried to enter recovery by using repeated presses of volume-up and volume-down buttons as well as other combinations like holding them pressed simultaneously, combining the volume buttons with the power button - no positive result (most probably as I read later because the stock BL doesn't support recovery). Then I decided to install the official TWRP app and the used it to install the image to the recovery partition - again no result booting into recovery. Then (foolishly) I used the app to try to install the TWRP image in the boot partition - no problems there, however on the next reboot the tablet was bricked
In this state when trying to power-on the tablet the indicator LED starts flashing in red and the screen remains black. Power-off was possible through pressing volume-up and power buttons for more than 10 seconds. It was also possible to enter fastboot mode by powering-off the tablet and holding volume-up while inserting a USB cable that was plugged to a PC - success was indicated by a continuous blue indicator LED. Attempts to use fastboot flash or fastboot boot with TWRP image didn't give any positive result - the first failed with "Operation not allowed", the second failed with "Too many links". I also tried the same with kernel.sin and fotakernel.sin files from the stock ROM FTF file downloaded using the Flashtool - again unsuccessfully.
Using the Flashtool itself to restore the stock ROM failed initially because the on-screen instructions for getting into flash/download mode - powering off and then holding the volume-down button while inserting a USB cable that was plugged to a PC - didn't work in my case. Then I decided to use this sequence:
powering off
first pressing and holding the volume-down button
second pressing and holding the power button
finally - inserting a USB cable that was plugged to a PC
I was awarded with short green flash of the indicator LED and the Flashtool recognized the device as being in flash/download mode. I then proceeded to flash the downloaded stock ROM using the default settings. The flash was successful, and I was back to square one. I also rooted the device again as described above.
My questions:
Does anyone know of a method that allows to use the root shell of the device itself to remove the bootloader lock? For example, custom copy/flash using the dd command from a root shell and partition images extracted form TWRP/Custom non-stock ROMs.
Is it possible in the situation of my device to install/flash custom recovery/kernel/ROM if we assume that the bootloader cannot be changed?
Thanks in advance for your time and thoughts...

Hello!
1. If you have operator carrier device like DOCOMO or Orange, then you're out of luck. Carrier branded devices cannot be unlocked, so no TWRP and custom ROMs like LOS, RR, CR, etc.
2. If you have ordinary device, you can unlock the bootloader and install whatever ROM you like, no limitations here.
Root access nor recovery are needed for bootloader unlock.
Thanks Rootk1t, the device was purchased and is locked to a local carrier - so I guess I'm out of luck.
Still, a valuable experience while trying to flash it and having it rooted might allow to squeeze a bit more life out of it

Stock 5.1.1 + root + XZDR + Xposed + some mods (like SDFix for Lollipop; XReality+SuperVivid; xLOUD) is not bad at all.

Can you you reset or root or brick an M5 that is locked to a company?

Hi i recently got a M5 mediapad 8.4 at an auction but the device is locked to the energy company EE in the UK. When it powers on it asks to verify your google account. It says "To continue, sign in with a Google Account that was previously synced on this device".
Is there any way to reset this or bypass this so i can use the tablet? Or is the tablet unusable?
Sorry i'm a noob at all this. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
I'm not sure but if you restart the M5 in recovery mode, can you factory reset it??
Yeah i've restarted in recovery mode and what i mentioned is what happened. Is there any other possible solutions you can think of please?
And thanks for the quick reply too.
Perhaps you could try via fastboot, i found this.
Thanks again for replying.
I'm trying to factory reset my m5 to bypass the google verification to remove the frp protection so i can use the m5.
I bought my huawei mediapad m5 8.4 from an auction and i didn't realise it is locked to an energy company EE in the UK.
I've tried pressing volume up and power button to pull up the hard reset options menu but it desn't come up on this device. I have a huawei phone too and i can pull it up on my phone but not on the m5. When you power it on the huawei logo doesn't come up only the EE logo.
I've tried youtube videos but it doesn't work.
So i decided to reset it in Fastboot mode.
I've followed all your instructions and installed all the usb drivers and adb and fastboot drivers on my windows 10 for my huawei m5 mediapad and then typed in the prompts as shown on your web page but i get error: device '(null)' not found on the command prompt.
Is there any help you can give please so i can use my m5?
Thanks any help would be greatly appreciated.
Sorry i copied and pasted the msg i sent on droidrecovery.com where i found the instructions and the drivers to hard reset it in Fastboot mode.
I'm beginning to think that once it's been locked to a company you can't unlock it or hard reset it to use it without having the original users sign in info.
i can't pull up recovery mode to factory reset it
My idea was to use Hisuite to flash a full stock Huawei firmware, but the fastboot mode is important.
So if your M5 is off, push volume up then connect it to usb (PC), doesn't it go in fastboot mode?

Yeah it goes into fastboot mode. i then used command prompt to reset it that way but i just get the " error: device '(null)' not found "
I didn't try HiSuite yet. I'll give that a go tonight. thanks again, i'll keep you posted
i think the possible problem with the fastboot mode is possibly the m5 isn't in ADB Debugging mode which i can't access to change.
Hi again Massima, so funnily enough after installing Hisuite on my pc i was able to enter safe recovery mode and then factory resetted the tablet and cache. I then rebooted it and i still had the same problem, i was on the Google verification screen again, the FRP protection.
It was during this process i realised my tablet wasn't just an m5 it was a Harrier Tab from EE. I'm not even sure what that means and if the tablet is an m5. That was what is was advertised as, on the auction.
So i googled how to bypass google protection on Harrier Tab from EE. And a youtube video came up which i promptly followed step by step and hey presto i've bypassed the protection and can now use the tablet!!
Haha i've had this tablet for almost a year now and never knew to try youtube. I came across the xda forum last april and was meant to sign up so i could post this problem to see if i could get help. It took me this long to do it and finally because of the process i just went thru i finally unlocked it!
Tbh i didn't even need to come here. All i needed to do originally was google how to bypass google protection on Harrier Tab from EE and i could've had this working a year ago!!!
So to cut a long story short thanks to you for helping me go thru what i did to realise it was a Harrier Tab lol
Thanks for your help Massima i really appreciate you taking time to help
