It doesn't slow down your device. But it voids your warranty. And you are unable to use some apps, like Pokemon go, banking apps, Netflix and more.

If you want to use that apps use Magisk for root. You need enable root hide function and select apps, that's will never be able to use root. More over, magisk let's keep you Google certificate (secure test, don't remember).

Remove root or make apps believe there is no root access

Hi there,
configuration: LG Nexus 4 ("mako") with lineage OS 14.1, root access
I have root access as it is very useful for many apps. Unfortunately, many banking and verfication apps do not work when root is installed. For some, google app store prevents installation, others cannot be used and a security warning is given.
Is there any chance to "pretend" root acess is not given, either to all apps or to some speficif apps?

You can try RootCloak. It is an Xposed module.

There are far too many files to make banking's apps flag and always ends in wasted time, it is far better to just use the banks main sites with a good browser.

Thanky! That does not help. I tried different solutions.
I am now thinking about using dual boot. Otherwise I need to switch back to the normal rom.

Banking app on pixel experience rom

I am unable to run apps like "tez" , "bhim" on pixel experience rom installed in redmi note 3. Apps say that my phone is rooted but its not. I confirmed it by installing"root checker" app. My device is not rooted. is there any solution for this problem? is it because of permissive Selinux?

Install magisk 15.3 or whichever is latest and hide all the apps that don't require root in magisk hide, after that clear data of playstore and apps like tez etc. I used this method, it is working perfectly fine.
Hit thanks if a solution works. it will encourage us to answer queries.

Easy & fast track method is just flash Magisk.zip and enjoy any app in any custom rom.

Is it safe to use banking apps on rooted device?
Yes it is safe to use banking apps on rooted device , if you're concerned about safety just don't install cracked apks or apps from outside other than playstore and use jio security or any such antivirus app
Simple method: you don't have to root the device. turn off play protect and find my device. You will get the OTP and you will be logged in. Then turn play protect and find my device on. (Tested only on Google pay. Don't know about BHIM).
May be because of unlocked bootloader

hi friend i was also faced the same issue , on my asus zenfone max pro m1 with pixel experience 10 plus and lineage os 16 and 17, using magisk couldnot help.

Does Google pay work with a custom ROM/root?

It looks like it should with Magisk, but I can't seem to get it to work. I have pay hidden, using magisk 17.1 and passing safety net. It sticks at card verification. It says "verifying with bank", then kicks me to the payment screen where it says "verification needed". Clicking on that gives me a momentary waiting circle, but nothing else happens. I've tried it with 2 different cards. US998, RR oreo 8.1.

That's not an issue with Pay. If Magisk was being blocked by root/unlocked bootloader, you would get a message when you first fire up Pay that your phone can't be verified so "Google Pay can't run on this device".
Have you contacted your bank to make sure they support it? If it's not being verified with your bank, sounds like you need to call them. For the last few years, my bank didn't. It wasn't until this past year that they actually allowed it.
I'm not sure what the issue was. It wasn't with the bank(s). I was having the same issue with all the cards I tried. Eventually did a wipe and it worked.

Well that's weird. Glad it's working though! :good:
After installing Google Pay, hide it using Magisk Hide, and Hide Magisk Manager in Magisk Settings. Then remove phone permission from Google Play Services and Play Store. Now you can register Pay on your rooted phone. After registration is complete, you should allow phone permission to Play Services and Play Store. This trick works always, I've tested with multiple custom roms with and without selinux enforcing.
If we want to reuse root features should we give phone permissions again ?
If we want to use Google pay again later should we re hide magisk and permissions ?

Phone permissions have nothing to do with root features, I didn't exactly understand what do you mean by reuse root features but I don't recall any root solution app or framework asking for Phone Permission. If you are asking about granting phone permission to Google Play Services after Google Pay registration, you should do it, it's not recommended to deny phone permission to Google Play Services. And once you hide Magisk you don't need to change it's state as Magisk will continue to work as expected whether it's hidden or not.

Did you by any chance remove phone permission from Google Pay app? You need to turn off telephone permission from Google Play Services and Google Play Store. Google Pay app needs phone permission to verify the phone number, don't turn off phone permission from Pay, do it for only play store and play services. Hope that helped.
Does not work
Once I renable telephone permission for Google Play Services, googlepay does not work anymore. Asks me to register and then I cannot register as I dont pass the security test. I am on lineage os 15.1
Non rooted lineageOS
I am a real newbie but i do use google pay a lot.
Will google pay just work on lineageOS that wasnt rooted or with magisk install, only with an unlocked bootloader. Or will i need extra work to do before i can use it?

Extra work? There's no extra work to install Magisk. It's part of the instructions when unlocking the bootloader and installing TWRP. Magisk Hide (part of Magisk Manager) lets Google Pay work.
When you unlock the bootloader and install TWRP (which you need to install ROMs), the next steps in the process include flashing three files IN TWRP: the no root checker, the no encryption and Magisk. I'm not clear why you would just stop short of finishing the process.
Unless you use Magisk Hide, simply unlocking the bootloader will cause Google Pay to then fail -- even without installing TWRP or a ROM.
Unlocked bootloader by itself -- without Magisk Hide (a part of Magisk) -- will cause Safety Net to fail. Google Pay will not work.
Why do you want Lineage OS without root? That's like owning a car with internal combustion engine, but refusing to put in gasoline. (or refusing to charge a Tesla.) You can do it, but to me it doesn't make sense.
You might as well stay on stock unrooted firmware.
I have stock rooted firmware. I'm not using any custom ROMs -- but at least I have root and my Magisk mods.

Thank you. Just flash magisk and hide google pay using it. From what i under stand is i have root access+ unlocked bootloader+ google pay functionalities. And the reason not to root is just because i want the feel of stock android+some nice modification
Recently had this problem with G Pay also. Found where some just deleted 'cache' and 'data' from Google Play and Play Services. That worked for me too. Of course hide Magisk etc first.

Hi, I'm not able to get Google Pay working on my rooted V30. I unlocked bootloader and flashed TWRP, no checker, no encryption, using chazzdave's WTF tutorial. Now have Havoc installed. I have hidden root from play, play services, and pay. I've hidden magisk by scrambling APK. I've cleared cache and data of play, play services, and pay. I've revoked telephone permission for play services and play store, although I had to re-enable play services telephone permission during card setup because pay wouldn't go any further. But nothing. Just error message that root is enabled and cannot proceed.
One of my banking apps which didn't work on root is working after hiding from magisk, but no Google pay. Has something updated and a loophole been closed?
Thanks

[GUIDE] [ANDROID 10] [SAR A-ONLY] Enable Viper4android without stuck bootlogo

Hi everyone, i'll share a little trick to enable viper on android 10 especially SAR device with A only partition without getting stuck bootlogo or stuck FASTBOOT. Btw I will not share any trick before tested by my self. Viper work for me doesn't mean it will work for you all, that's why I made many guides so you can choose the method that suits you.
DOWNLOAD LINK
1. SELinux Mode Changer
2. Viper Rootless Installer
3. Viper4Android v2.7.1.0
1st METHOD via ROOTLESS INSTALLER (NON ROOT)
How to:
1. install viper rootless installer via recovery then reboot
2. install viper 2.7.1.0.apk then open it,
>>>see driver status if NEON enabled YES and status NORMAL you're ready to go
if not, check your SELinux, viper mostly work in permissive mode
If already permissive but still have some problem, so this method not for you
2nd METHOD via MAGISK MODULE (ROOT)
How to:
1. install latest viper 2.7.1.0, open it and grant ROOT access
2. it will reboot automatically but DON'T FORGET TO PRESS VOLUME UP UNTIL DEVICE GO TO RECOVERY !!!!
3. go to data/adb/modules/Viper4AndroidFX
4. rename "post-fs-data.sh" to "post-fs-data.sh.bak" or you can simply remove it
5. reboot ENJOY
3rd METHOD via MODIFY POST-FS-DATA.SH (ROOT)
How to:
1. download post-fs-data.sh.txt in my attachment
2. rename it to post-fs-data.sh
3. install viper 2.7.1.0 and grant ROOT access, it will reboot automatically but DON'T FORGET TO PRESS VOLUME UP UNTIL DEVICE GO TO RECOVERY !!!!
4. copy downloaded "post-fs-data.sh" to data/adb/modules/Viper4AndroidFX
6. set permission to rw-r-r
7. reboot
4th METHOD via MAGISK MODULE + SeLinux Mode Changer [MIUI 11 A10] (ROOT)
How to:
1. Install SElinux Mode Changer.apk
2. Open app, grant root access then change to permissive
3. You must ENABLE AUTOSTART for SELinux Mode Changer and VIPER, Go to Settings>Apps>Permission>AUTOSTART
4. Open viper 2.7.1.0 bla bla bla bla >>>follow 1st method or 3rd method (recommended) bcz sometimes 2nd method still not work
5. Reboot
6. Enjoy
***Viper driver gone/missing after several rebooting system?? just open SELinux app then change again to permissive>reboot>solved
QUESTIONS+ANSWER+NOTES
Q>> sometimes viper not processing?
A>>>force stop viper+music then re-open
Q>> why not use "kernel SEPolicy patcher.zip" and flash via twrp?
A>>>because it doesn't work for me, flashed many times SELinux still enforcing but if you successful, you can skip SELinux Mode Changer and direct install viper
{N} maybe viper sometimes crash with musicfx on some roms, so i suggest you to disable musicfx instead delete it, disable via settings>apps>show all apps>show system or you can disable/freeze musicfx via titanium backup
{N} if you use SELinux Mode Changer app, make sure you turned off google play protect to avoid SELinux back to default
{N} if you have sound issue after installing viper, rename libvolumelistener.so to libvolumelistener.so.bak via twrp recovery (mount vendor first)
directory >> vendor/lib/soundfx and vendor/lib64/soundfx
{N} Some users report not work on wireless earbud, idk why,,, i always use wired headset..lol

check magisk module, if viper module still there, maybe your SELinux back to enforcing again
just open SELinux Mode Changer again and tap permissive then reboot
check the driver status
**Turn off google play protect, it's cause SELinux back to default.

Yes, SELinux back to enforcing. Google play protect turned off.
After change to permissive and reboot, Viper says to install driver and all go for circle
Yes, for me there is still the same, permission changed in SELinux, checked in superuser in magisk, viper4android visible in magisk in superuser tab and its checked also. Then I go to viper4android apliccation and See window about not visible drivers, grat permission to install it and Phone goes to loop.

Issues after Root

Hi Guys
I'm planning to root my 7t pro. Want to check following before I do
1. Does the bank apps work and Snapchat works ?
2. Any safety net issues after Root?
3. Any other thing that doesn't work after Root ?
1) It depends on the app. Snapchat works fine as long as you don't use Xposed.
2) Nope. Should work just fine.
3) Widevine L1 as it defaults to L3 upon unlocking the bootloader. But not root related.
So I just use the patched boot image tutorial to root the latest version?

You need to enable Magisk Hide as well as enable it for the Play Store. Then clear the Play Store's data and it Netflix should show up.
Netflix is hidden if the Play Store shows that it's an unofficial device in the info screen.
