Can you modify a stock rom and flash it to a rooted phone? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello XDA,
I wanted to ask this question more specifically since I feel my last questions was too specific and maybe difficult?
Can I edit a stock rom? Like editing the recovery.img and the system.img, then flashing the phone with smart phone flash tools?(SP flash tools)
Can I do this on a rooted phone? Or does the stock rom have to be not edited in any way? Is there no way to pull certain apps from the apps folder?
Thanks

bump,
I was told to make a thread in this forum yet no one has even replied to any of my threads.
At this point, I may have to make a sense and post in every forum I can find until I a moderator comes to clean up my mess. I don't want to have to do that but I have nothing to lose and no one has replied back to anything I have posted on here.
If I don't see a reply on this thread or the other thread I made about this. I will make a thread in every forum.

Waited around for awhile but now its time be obnoxious. I will bump my other thread as well and just start hi-jacking other threads until mods ban me or someone answers me for once.

Flashing Galaxy S2

I need to use odin to repartition my phone. I have downloaded the newest version of ICS from Samfirmware but it only comes with the PDA file. So i have odin, the PIT file and the PDA file (just under 400mb) is it okay to flash with only the 2 files or do i have to have the csc and modem files aswell?
I9100XWLPT_I9100XEULPA_XEU is the file im using.
Need to do this asap so help please! lol
First off, stop trying to spam to get to 10 posts.
You became a member yesterday, you already created 2 threads and there was no need for them.
You've posted both of your threads in the wrong section. How do I know this? They're questions, which means they go in the Q(uestion) & A(nswer) section of this S2 forum and not this General section, which you've posted them in.
That brings me onto my next point about reading before you post.
There are rules set up on XDA for a reason. That reason is not so they can be ignored by every Tom, **** and Harry who chooses to do just that. They're in place to try and bring some control and order to these forums and to make them run as smooth and efficiently as possible.
I suggest you read the following threads -
Forum Rules
Postcount limit in developmental fora
Get the most out of XDA
How to be a new user (and not a noob)
And while you're at it, read the threads stickied to the top of this forum.
Once you've done that, you'll then know exactly what to post where so I won't have to go through this again.
And finally, I only wrote this because I can't stand giffgaff (I didn't really, but it doesn't help)

Is anyone online? I need help asap

I just installed a custom rom and when I reboot it just stucks at the sony logo how do I fix it? my phone cant even recognise it.
1) this is not 24/7 support lol,
2) there are rules how to write subject/thread title,
3) you already have thread with similar "useless" thread title. You were told to change it, also, you didnt replied on the help(questions) in that thread in order to solve your problem, so as I see there is no point in trying to help,
4) this is general section, there is q&a section for questions or even general chat thread for quick questions,
5) from what I can see, you need to read a lot before mesing with your phone.
Ouch!

THREAD HAS BEEN MOVED TO Q&A
OP, it is much easier for people to help you when you 1) Give a more descriptive thread title. 2) Give as many details as possible in your post. 3) Post in the correct section.
When help is given it is also a good thing to report back if it worked so if anyone else has a similar issue they can find a solution without starting ANOTHER new thread in a wrong section
Thanks,

Help Please

I come from the HTC Desire and everything is new to me. I wonder a method effectively and without problems of brick, to root my Samsung.
I've read several times CWM, what you mean EX. "...CWM via stock recovery...".
What's the problem of making the brick making factory reset, I have to install anything, it is that I wanted to install CyanogemMod 10.
Thanks.

Well I cant speak for the Desire forum but in this one we expect users to use proper descriptive titles and not silly completely generic ones like "help please". We also expect users to look and read before creating topics, These questions have obviously already been asked and answered or covered in sticky topics or guides.
OP, Please search for your answers. All you are asking can be found by searching. If you are expecting people to spoon feed you then you must get a heavy flame suit on because around here people do not like users that do not take the initiative to do research and learn the answers to the most common questions on their own.. they expect people to spoon feed them. Do like the rest of us more knowledgeable guys did.. read, then read some more.. use google.. read... read.. read.. Asking questions to stuff where these is already tons of info on isn't going to make you liked around here..

[Q] help! help!! help!!!

Helo everybody, i have installed samsung galaxy 2 i9100 rom on samsung galaxy 2 1777.
Most of the keys are not working. so plssssssss i need help here. Thank u
OK, first off, thread titles should be indicative of what your problem is so that they have some relevance when doing a search. Secondly, this is a common problem whose solution can be found by looking at the stickies and doing a search, two things that are expected of members BEFORE making a post.
Flash AJ's Siyah kernel. It'll fix your key layouts. And in the future, please follow the advice of the above poster and use more relevant thread titles.
As Miami says, everything you need is contained in the stickies. However, for someone new, wading through the info may be a little confusing at first, so here's a little guidance. First you will need to flash back to I777 stock. Then if you want to install custom firmware, you can proceed from there.
I would also suggest you use this forum as the most trusted source. Read and study the stickies, also the links in my sig, until you have a good grasp of what you are doing. Then if you have questions, feel free to ask. But you should post them in the Q&A section, not General.
Ok, so I guess that is that then. Nothing for me to do here.
@OP, see the above. You have a Senior and 2 RCs that are guiding you in your ways. But no one can do this stuff for you. I know that Panic Mode has set in and that is fine, but make sure that you Read, Search and Read again before flashing anything.
Edit: Woops!!! Forgot ---> Moved to Q&A

No SN after flashing stock ROM

Hi guys, I know this has been discussed a lot but I have no idea what to do next, here's what happened:
So one of my friends bought a used galaxy S3. The next day, he noticed that the IMEI inside the phone was actually different than the one shown inside Android Settings, so I just assumed maybe the motherboard has been changed or something like that. Anyway, I proceeded to install CM10, but after trying it out for a couple of days he complained the device had been crashing a lot and that he wanted to go back to the stock ROM. So this morning I downloaded the right 4.1.2. ROM and flashed via Odin, after which I had noticed I wasn't able to make any calls whatsoever. After reading up on this I checked the SN, which was now 00000000000, bun even after rooting / trying the ariza patch, the phone is not working anymore. I have no EFS backup, and was thinking about trying to flash the modem next to this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=43946365#post43946365 , is this the right fix? If not, can I actually do anything about it now? Thanks.
Faqs and guides its all posted we don't need identical threads .
Sorry, I know there are a lot of other threads like this one being opened all the time, but even after reading my ass off today I couldn't figure it out, which is why I decided to post here, I would really appreciate a link to a relevant topic, if a full answer is too much to ask. Thank you.
Mod Edit
Please read the stickies in General before posting.
