I recently got s-off, updated from 1.15 to 2.06, installed abp and also flashed a no ads zip file for good measure because some ads would still get through. Everything was going great until the phone randomly froze. I held down the power button and rebooted into recovery and cleared my cache and dalvik cache, thinking that may have been the problem. Upon rebooting after that, I come to find out I've lost my root access. This is so weird. I am still s-off and have the 2222222 confirmation shown when I am in the bootloader, I still have super user installed, but when I run an app that needs root, such as adaway, it says I don't have root. I downloaded root checker and it confirmed that I didn't have root. I don't understand how this could have happened. Is there anyway to regain root? I have been having the worst luck with this phone :\

Send me a PM if you want me to help you out. You need to install a custom recovery and use that to install a rooted rom and kernel. It can be a stock rooted rom. Or mostly stock however you want to do it, I'll help you set it up and teach you some things along the way.
I can teach you all kinds of things via team viewer, it wont take long and it's a necessity for having a rooted phone in my opinion. I know it can be frustrating and over whelming but it will get better I promise.
Oh and also you don't need to worry about losing s off. It's at a much lower level than anything you've mentioned touching. So it will always be there regardless because you definitely don't want to be messing with hboots or s off type stuff.

Try uninstalling superuser and installing either supersu or the other superuser.

I can't uninstall my Superuser unless I use Titanium Backup. I tried installing SuperSU (while still having my original Superuser installed) and the SuperSU said that "There is no SU binary installed"

How to get root back after subsequent apps are denied root?
Over the last year, this has happened several times while having different custom roms installed. It happened several times with my Galaxy S4 and S5, and recently with my Galaxy Tab S 10.5. I have not lost root on my Nexus 7 (2013). The common denominator appears to be the Samsung devices.
Through SuperSu, I have removed root, rebooted, and installed root again with CF-Root which has not given me root access.
The only way I have been able to recover to date is to do a factory rest. It is interesting to note that I would have thought that the factory rest would take me back to the Samsung rom but in the last two time that I did this on either device, I ended up with the custom rom that I just had but without root or custom recovery.
To go back to a Samsung rom, I would think that if I started the device in download mode and did a flash with odin.
But rather than go through this, is there a reason why this happens and/or is there a way to avoid it?
Lastly, is there a true way of getting root back once it stops granting root?

This forum is for the Droid DNA.
However, gaining root is as simple as downloading the latest SuperSu zip and flashing it in recovery.
Very simple to do on any rom.
I know that not many people may be able to help as this is a long story but here it goes:
I had used a root toolkit (I know that I will receive hate) to root my kyocera rise as rooting by hand has become a pain. Anyways, I had run into an issues where my phone would not run properly (possibly due to malware or the likes) and as such I reset it back to factory data. For months after I had assumed that I did not have root anymore because I had lost the supersu app (stupid me forgot to check root). Recently I realized that in one of my apps that could use root, it was using root and I did not even know it.
Seeing that this would cause some security issues, I quickly installed super su and updated the binaries. From then on, whenever an app tried to request root permission, it would then freeze. I then uninstalled super su and did the unroot setting from software and then planned to reinstall it. When I reinstalled supersu, It complained that it could not install binaries and this was bad (lol).
Anyways, the kyocera rise has a locked bootloader that prevents me from completely flashing over a new copy of the os, which sucks, and now I feel like I am stuck with an unrootable device because I can't seem to reinstall the binaries to allow super su or any other superuser program to work properly. Any Help would be appreciated. FYI, this is just stock android, nothing fancy about it.

i may have to say am also facing a similar problem. i mistakenly permanent unroot my phone with my binary su. now all my apps that needs root aint functioning. i tried to re-install the binarySU but jux couldn't. i have also tried using gingerbreak to start all over again just to get my phone rooted. it simply cant.....please i need help..... i want to root my phone again

Just root? The old way works. If you want full R/W access to the system folders then as far as I know thats not working right without a customer kernel.

Alright, I got mine rooted with no problems.
Just install TWRP, CWM, or CM2 for the recovery and then install SuperSU to get the root.
If you do TWRP like I did, when you go to reboot the system for the first time, it will say that you aren't rooted and ask if you want to run SuperSU to root. Pretty straight forward.
I have an HD6 that's on 5.3.1 that was successfully rooted. I've always used Kingroot to handle root access without issue, but going on the recommendation of the thread I followed to root (and many suggestions I've seen on here) I replaced Kingroot with SuperSu. All was well for a few weeks, but I started noticing instability in some apps that I use all the time. I never had such problems with Kingroot, so via process of elimination I figured SuperSu must somehow be to blame. Under settings I chose the "tidy up" option for if you want to uninstall SuperSu and replace it with another root control app, so I chose it. I DID NOT choose the full unroot / uninstall option although that's what seems to have happened. The steps were simple enough. SuperS would uninstall and close out. I then rebooted to finish the process and installed Kingroot. That should have been the end of it, but Kingroot informs me that I'm not rooted. There is no direct root for this tablet on this is version afaik, and the process to root is long and I don't care to repeat it. I don't need root that bad. I'm mainly curious since this should not have happened. Has anyone else had a similar experience, and is my root completely gone or just hiding?
Just need to boot into TWRP and flash SuperSu.zip, boot to OS, authorize SU to Kingroot, then unistall SuperSU. It should work fine
My journey started with an inability to root my device. There's no ways to do it, from what I believe, so I was told to go ahead with magisk.
My phone doesn't have flashing naturally in recovery mode. TWRP, which is a way to bypass this, requires root in every instance I saw it installed.
How do I go forward? I'm completely lost.
I'm still having issues with this. Where should I go from here?
