Can we port or install some features from XZ2 and Z series to Xperia X Oreo? - Sony Xperia X Questions & Answers

Hello guys, I am new to this forum. I recently purchased refurbished X dual from ebay for very low price. I am a big fan of Sony. Previously i used Xperia ZR.
I updated X dual to Oreo. I had a few questions.
1. Can we port the headphones selection feature that i seen in my ZR. Check the screenshots i posted below about headphones feature.
2. Can we port new Sony lockscreen clock in XZ2 and XZs/XZ1 lockscreen clock to our X dual without root?
3. Can we change the color of notification panel to new black like in XZ2?
4. Also while listening songs, the music app notification not changing the colors based on the songs we listen. I hope you guys understand my poor English fluency.
5. Does the X model recieve 8.1 update in near future?
6. Guys, I want to change the X dual system font to Products Sans like Pixel. Does anyone observed Google maps is showing Pixel phone font!
7. Notifications feature on X dual Oreo are not completely optimised. I can't maximise the notications i mean i can only see some part of notification message.
8. How to get Google app widget rounded corners like in XZ2?
9. Are there any other features i can install from XZ2 ?
10. Guys, i can install Google Camera but the app not opening for a second. It's not working at all.
11. Guys, what are the best camera settings u advise? How to completely prevent audio noise/ disturbance while recoding videos?
12. How to get pixel like power off user interface without installing any app? Any other pixel features we can install in our X?

if you think all these can be achieved without having Root access
then
NO sir, its not possible!
if your Boot is UNLOCKED!
you can flash Xgen!
its MODDED stockRom by @Chippa_a on latest oreo has almost all XZ2 features embedded to X

Thanks for the reply. What about 8.1 OS ? Do you think Sony will release 8.1 OS update to X dual?
If i install XGen Rom with Magisk module enabled can i use bank apps and games like Super Mario Run i mean they don't support Custom Roms or rooted OS.
I also had a doubt can i get the gaming performance like stock? I don't know this but i observed in my old mobile Xperia ZR that after installing some custom rom, the gaming performance was so bad. Normal 2d games like shadow fight 2 lagged on custom rom. I remember that custom ROMs needs some driver to play games.

1. X is more likely not to receive either Kernel 4.4 OR 8.1
2. yes you can hide ROOT from certain apps via magisk
3. again if root access can be hide via magisk for Super Mario, its more likely to work
4. ZR to X its a long way! everything is different now, Android has changed! , Xperias have improved alot! the Custom Rom you tried on ZR was different story and Xgen on X is totally differen.
please note that Rooting X is a LONG process. mainly because to rescue DRM KEYS

As YasuHamed mentioned, you can install either X-Gen or (if you know Russian well and can use 4PDA) eXistenZ. It'll give you most of the features you've asked us.

Here I must correct you. Two days ago X has received k4.9 from CAF, but it's only for SODP.
That means we will have 4.9 in custom ROMs.
But yeah, stock will never receive neither 4.4 (because nobody at Sony wants to do it for any device) nor 8.1 (same reason + they have some problems porting their UI to 8.1 but shish that's a secret).

A-a-a-a-another addition here. He was probably using non-stock based custom ROM. If he'll use OmniROM or AOSP, he will likely experience the same problems as he experienced on ZR, cause of the drivers. But I've never tested anything performance-heavy on k4.4+, so can't say if it's true or false.

1. since the post started on the point of where user had locked boot loader so all the answers given keeping STOCKROM in prespective only , LOIRE kernel4.4 is OUT (different OEM Binaries supporting New Android Code) from SONY only but they wont develop any STOCKROM on that. it will be for AOSP, or third party rom such as Omnirom or Lineage etc. (from Market point of view- X is history for sony)
2. I beg to differ, I had tried 3rd party roms on my Z devices and on X devices, the result was different in performance and speed. so Unless he tries we wont know.

Guys, why Xperia keyboard is not working on our X. I installed some old model Xperia keyboard it was installed it worked for a second but then it closed with some error message! Why this happening?! In apkmirror site it shows the latest Xperia keyboard supports 8.0 OS but still why is it not working on our X?

the new signed Xperia Keyboard (by sony) from any apkmirror site, fails to install! you will have to flash it via twrp! or try older versions!
btw
Swiftkey given in X is much better! it has embeded clipboard and smart memory of my recent words! predictions are amazing!
in short i have froze my default keyboard in my older xperia and using swiftkey!

Xperia keyboard is clean and simple. Swift key has many features and i like it but i want a keyboard with simple user interface. I installed Gboard. It looks as minimal as Xperia keyboard. I want to know why Xperia keyboard not supporting our X model?
By the way the earphones came with Xperia X doesn't support Noise Cancelling why? Can anyone tell the X dual earphones model no.? Ebay sent me MH 750 earphones and they looks so bad. My old Xperia ZR came with best earphones I don't know the model but they just sound more better and feel much premium in hands! X dual earphones doesn't feel good in hands they look so cheap.

Guys, I found Xperia keyboard 8.0.A.0.110 (March 8,2017) working perfectly well on X dual Oreo OS!

[ROM][21/01][9.1.A.0.485][Small Apps][Bravia Engine 2][ClearAudio+]Fidelity VX 8.0

I made this ROM for my Xperia P device in this thread below
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1889581
Some users reported that it can also be installed on Sola and working fine. Not so surprising though as build.prop is modified not overwritten and most stuff I added are stuff from T/V so it's quite possible. I don't have devices on hand to test myself besides Xperia P so let me know what works and broken there so I can try fixing it to make it more generalized.
Very promising ROM
Appearantly it works on Xperia U and should also work on Sola/Go too for any 6.1.1.B.1.x stock ROM. Make sure you prepare root/busybox/init.d before flashing this ROM.

Hello Windows X,
Thanks for your job, I have tested Fidelity VX 7 and8 and it's great !
I just have one weird problem with the 8.0 version, I'm not able to connect to internet through 3G/3G+ unless I ask to the phone to search and download MMS and Internet configuration ( in setup ) each time I boot the phone.
Sorry for my poor english if you have trouble to understand.
It probably has something to do with partial working JB files. I hope next release will solve those problems.
Version 9.0 was released btw and v10 with Xperia Z files is in development.

People app crashes
I just flashed this ROM (latest STABLE 1013).
Is it possible that the people app crashes upon opening, or is it just me? I had the same issue with CM a couple of days ago before I flashed soem different ROMs.
A reliable ROM?
I'm running a stock ROM JB 4.2.2 on my rooted HOX+. I'm looking for a custom ROM that would have no bloatware, alot of free RAM, speed, stability and best gaming performance. I want to upgrade to Kitkat too. Which custom ROM should i be looking forward to?

hi everyone,
I just installed mokee yesterday and so far I really like it. Stable and fast . One thing though, is it normal that I do not have facebook integration into my contacts? Thanks a lot! any idea if/when our device will get its own forum on xda? What about a codename, like redmi 1s is known as Armani. And do you plan on making this cm11 as official by submitting it to them?
Edit(8-8-2015)
Okay I'm editing this useless post and adding some info to make it useful because a lot of people are gonna be seeing it, since it's on the first page.
I flashed this rom about a week ago and this is the most stable rom for this device. It is pure and simple Cyanogenmod. No unneeded extra bloated features gotten through hacking and what not. Nope. Simple and pure cyanogenmod. And that's why it runs smooth as butter. Let's talk point wise about some things.
1) Battery- For me, the most important thing about a phone is its battery life. If it is plugged in half the time, what's the use. A mobile is supposed to be mobile. This rom has great battery life. It gives a screen on time of 7 hours. Read that again. Not overall time. Just the screen on time of 7 hours. Over all time can easily go upto 3 days if you use it for 2 hours every day. I'm a heavy user though and it lasts me a minimum of 7 hours. This is as good as the stock Miui rom and the developer has done this without the kernel sources, so thumbs up to him. Be sure to thank him by pressing the thanks button.
2) Ram - It's a 1GB ram phone. At least that's what I'm using. So dont expect the performance of a flagship from it. If you use greenify and hibernate all useless apps, you wont face a single lag or stutter. I always have around 300-350 mb ram free after installing around 120 apps. All of them are greenified, except whatsapp, hike, alarm clock, nova launcher and swiftkey. I'm a greenify freak. Whatever you do, be sure to greenify facebook and chrome because they hog a lot of ram.
3) Sound/Music - I was very surprised by the music quality that this rom provides. It's loud and clear as the Miui rom. To get such clarity and quality in an early build of a custom rom and that too without kernel sources is a miracle. Kudos to the dev.
4) Camera - Now we are talking. :victory: Everyone is concerned about the camera. Well the stock camera is not good and it doesnt take pictures as good as the Miui rom camera. But not to worry, go to page 4 or 5 of this thread and you'll find the apk of cyanogen camera linked there. Download it and install it normally. It works quite good. It also has the option of time lapse video which is quite nice. But some of you might not like even that camera. So search for "Miui camera port for cyanogenmod" and you should find a miui forum link where the zip file is present. Download the file and flash it via recovery and voila! you'll have that awesome camera back again. PS - It's not the miui 6 camera, its miui v5 camera. PPS - It was originally intended for Redmi 1s but it works very good on our device. The name of the file is MIUICamera44-4.zip and its size is 2.2 mb.
That's it people. This is an awesome rom and i havent faced any bugs till now. I cant even imagine using that horrible miui 6. Xiaomi makes great hardware but poor software. Installing cm11 makes our device high on steroids. :highfive: Enjoy the rom. I will update the post later if i feel like adding some more info.
Dont forget to thank the developer for his hardwork by pressing the thanks button. Thanks me too, if i helped you.

HM201481x is the actual codename of the device.
I've just released a new build with a fix for proximity (for those who had issues with it before).
Good to finally see this rom here in xda, thank you so much for your work.BTW on your latest build and i can confirm that the proximity now works perfectly.
Waiting for CM 12.1 build.

Yep, and due to this proliferation of codenames... it will be a mess understand which ROM is for which Redmi 2.
As an example: is this ROM for HM2014813? or just 11 (which is the most common one?)?
Can we share the best practice over at miui.com forum by stating in the title the code of the device the ROM is made for?
For the people out there:
- Device code is written on the phone, below the battery slot
- 2014811 is the 1GB RAM model
- 2014813 is the 2GB RAM model
Thanks!!!

That isn't true actually. 2014813 is just 2014811 with different bands. 2GB models have another codename altogether (either that or they have the same codename). Anyway, my ROM works on all Redmi 2 variants, except that it will change your model to 2014811 once flashed.
Thanks. Power-off Alarm still has not been solved yet. Looking forward to your next version.

I'm looking for a new phone, and the Redmi 2 made it to my shortlist, but I would like CM on it. When I buy one, it will be a 2GB HM2014813 (they are actually advertised with this number) because of the bands supported.
When you say this ROM will change the model to 2014811, do you mean it just changes the modelnumber in the software, or does it also change the supported bands to the ones of the 2014811?
Also: are there any known non-working parts like in other ROM's?
Thanks!

The ROM only changes the model number. Your phone still acts like a HM2014813.
The ROM is pretty much bug-free; I have been using it as my daily driver since the first release.
Hi, does this ROM works on Redmi 2 Enhanced (2GB ram,16GB internal) version?

Oh! Nicely done
It's great to see support for this device! Do you plan on bringing this to P5210/P5220 as well? Also, how's the RAM usage on this one? I can't try this ROM for myself unfortunately because I have a P5210, but I'm interested in trying it out if you ever port it to my device. That being said, keep up the good work!

Im curious dude, whats the rom like? Is it fast? Does multi window work properly?
Well I hate to trash any developers work...cuz this guys put so much time in doing this work ,testing and modding and porting ROms to our devices.....
I'm really grateful to them!!
Here is a list of what I really hated with ELASTIC ROM:
1.ROM use too much RAM, system ui stopped working more than 3x since installation and that message kept popping out, and when I click wait still comes back and when I click okay it reboots and still say samething system ui not responding and becomes unusable!!!
Frustrated,I reinstalled the ROM using my usual apps, multibooting, same thing happened again, system not responding, crash, reboot!!
2.the user interface is laggy but then again that's the reputation of TW
3.multiwindow?
...this is not straight out of the box, this is uSing xposed framework, xhalofloatingwindows, xmultiwindow, and multiwindowsidebar...
Meaning if you're new to the scene and not know how this modules work with xposed framework you're gonna get lost and frustrated!!
4.the preinstalled apps...
....the ROM is full of xposed modules, before I even install one of mines the list is already around 10 if not more...this shows that this ROM apart from note 5 icons , note 5 boot sounds, has being mostly twicked using xposed framework!! Things we're today very comfortable in doing ourselves, Not disrespecting anyone by saying that!!
5.using nels83 CM 12.1 unofficial, beta 1 latest version it's the ultimate choice!!
It's lag free, memory and battery friendly, and I had not never suffered any lags like I accounted in this ROM based on 4.4.2!
I know one would argue and say that @nels83's work it's based on cyanogen-mod and unoFficial...that being said he's ROM It's much faster, stable, and based on lollipop 5.1.1!
6.for most of users what matters if how the ROM responds, is it lagging, how's the battery life, how many preinstalled apps it has consuming the RAM, coz I'm gonna need install mine too, and still expect flawless responds from the ROM!
But this ROM ,ELASTIC ROM, has failed this departments mostly!!
7.I believe that if a ROM is put out for testing and claimed to be custom and all it has it's mainly xposed framework modules, then really any of us should start uploading our twicked ROMs for other users to try out!!!
8.with all respect to khalendro and his team, I couldn't use the ROM to even run KODI...I tried this twice, it stopped responding and said app not responding then after few seconds rebooted!#
Same thing happened with restoring my apps with titanium BACKUP, it stopped responding, crashed, rebooted...it seems like heavy duty apps if running,I couldn't use my tablet....
But having said all this things...I believe that most of the xda developers are excellent and having looked at your contributors I was amazed hoping that the ROM will out beat most of the TW based custom KITKATS!!
....................
My purpose of writing this is not to trash anyone or mislead other users keen to try out this ROM, this are my critics based on the experience I got from the little time I attempted to test your hard work mate!!
Maybe it's bad luck, I've reverted back to my nandroid backup coz I was getting frustrated which should not be the case after installing a new ROM, looking forward to your future work mate!!
...................
i hope that my critics if any were helpful in anyways rather then disrespecting your hard work!!
........
This will obviously not be complete if I don't mention all the good things I can't get from CM 12.1!
1.p5200 RILL works perfectly well, voice calls good, but this is not working on my CM 12.1, still under development
2.smart cover worked out of the box with this ROM..., camera also works fine, including screen mirroring/chromecast
3.for some reason Wi-Fi seemed to be stable while updating apps from play store, an issue I have on my current CM 12.1
3.I loved the NOTE 5 icons, but angried by all those millions xposed modules preinstalled!!
4. I'm positive I would have found more if I had more time to use the ROM without random reboots and system not responding messages!!!
5......

Thanks for the report i'm very happy to see that there is somone using my work and reporting it
as for the rom problems
i guarantee to you that the rom has no problems of FC's and random rebbots
why ?
bacause i have flashed it 5 times before uploading it to xda
i wiped
system
cache
dalvik cache
and data
to Guarantee that there isn't iny space for errors like what you faced
there is also someone have tested the rom and he didn't complain from anything in the rom no lag no FC's and no random reboots and i have asked him just from half an hour
i'm not saying that you lie or somthing of course not
but you know android is full of little mistakes that could make big errors
as for the Rom problems
1 - Much ram
it's based on stock kitkat of samsung and i have deodexed it and removed alot of samsung crap to Guarantee that the Ram consumption is the lowest i have added greenify and busy before uploading it but after testing it i had a random reboots so i didn't want to have problems like this so i removed booth of them
2-as for system ui FC
the only modification that i made it into it that i added the s6 toogles and i'm the one who made the toogles and the one who but it there - however i keept the orignal system.ui in it's place Root/priv.app/system ui .apk.bak
if you want to replace it with the orignal just change the system ui .apk to system ui.apk.1 and remove the .bak from the other one and try it
3-the lag of touchwiz
the main goal of this rom is to be like best touchwiz rom for the tab 3 10.1 so this means that it must be fast and there is nothing called lag
this rom is currently my OS for the tab and i have no problems at all i haven't installed any new thing
4-multiwindow
i have searched for weeks for a solution of the multiwindow for our tab 3 10.1 model but non of them are working there is a dev who tried as hard as he could to make it works for us but it didn't
so the only option i had is to use xposed module
5- as for the alot of xposed modules
every one of them is usefull module
i have installed them in rom to make the user relaxed by not searching for them and installing them i can remove them easily
but i see that i'm as i user i need them
as for the fix of your problems
i see to backup you data with TWRP
then wipe
system
cache
dalvik cahce
and data
then reflash the rom and see if there is any problems
and you can restore data with TWRP i do this alot and not facing any problems with the rom
It's good that you haven't taken my review as an attack...like I did mention I wiped everything including my internal storage x2 but faced lags......
Multi booting will be great if used without xposed ...it's really encouraging to see that someone out there is trying something...
? ? ?
....
Thanks for the tip about the system ui FC
All best with future release!!
Still....
HiOk it may have some bugs and maybe the touchwiz ui is a bit laggy but if im honest i like touchwiz better than cyanogenmod because cyanogenmod is boring and dull and touchwiz looks great. Even though cyanogenmod is faster.
The next version should be better as in less of those bugs you guys are talking about and also support for the wifi version of our tab 3. Great job though dude you really put a lot of effort into this rom and cant wait for the next update of elastic rom. Thanks!!!! Touchwiz is the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good job thanks for your hard work
Hmmmm....
Hey do you know when the next update will come out. I really want to try it out however i have wifi version (p5210). Do you know when the next version will come out?? I really want to know what day it will come out. Great rom.!!!!

ZTE Z7 Max (NX505J) - IR Not Working

I'm deeply puzzled, and a bit annoyed my shiny new Z7 Max doesn't seem to have working infrared. I can see the thing, but software can't.
Bought the phone off Feebay, has a "Westone" logo on the back, along with China Mobile. ROM seems stock, shows as Android 5.1.1 and has no obvious bloatware.
The reception seems no better than on my old THL T6 pro, but the GPS is vastly better (can even get a lock indoors). Both hate having two sims (from the same provider) fitted - Another reason I upgraded, and another irritation, but one I can live with.
There was something about explore Nubia OS when it first started, and I'm used to KitKat, so there might be some tweaks or other away from stock I don't know of.
What's bothering me is I can't find any sign of an IR app on it, and anything I've downloaded just says the phone doesn't have an IR port.
Anyone got any ideas? Or known working/ stable roms where the IR *does* function?
I'm using MoKee, and it seems to work; can control my tv, which is all i've used it for. The app that comes with the ROM is called Infrared control.
This is the one I bought ebay.co.uk/itm/272424574812
I can't find any hint of IR software on the phone as it reached me, so will see if the seller can help (unlikely) and then.. Gasp.. invalidate my warranty by finding a rom that *does* operate the features the phone was sold as having.
I imported mine, but it also came running android 5.1 and with play store. Unfortunately I didn't try out IR before installing custom ROM, and can't remember if there was any IR app installed.
The app which comes with MoKee appears to be a Nubia app though.

I can't find a download for the IR app that came with the phone, so may as well go for a different rom I guess.
Are there any known/ annoying bugs in Mokee?
Nothing I've noticed, but there's some stuff I haven't tested, like second SIM, Bluetooth audio and tap to pay. Probably other stuff too. Do a backup first and you've got nothing much to lose.

I recieved mine yesterday from GearBest. It also has the Westone logo on it and aside from missing the IR app was also missing the FM Radio.
After a little searching around I found a German forum from where I downloaded the, what seem to been stock, apks.
Now my FM Radio is working fine, but IR is still not functioning. An IR Romote App sugested a library is missing....
P.M. If you want the links, since I cannot post them due to new member restrictions.
I wasn't worried about FM radio, but did notice there was no sign of it.
I looked around for the IR app, but kept getting rather suspicious looking, definitely not, IR things in disguise.. Sigh.
It sounds like you've made some inroads though, fingers crossed there's a solution to this (though slapping a non stock rom on isn't a problem, *if* all features work relaibly).
Edit to add:
I've found an official ROM and copied the control and control test apks from it.. But although the app loads/ runs, there's still no sign of life from the IR led itself. No doubt I'm missing something the OS requires, it's been a while since I played with these things (and I wasn't very good at it then!).
I have same problem i extracted from 3.84 romofficial the 2 apk ir control and zfm radio only radio works hope there is a solution out there....
I bought the phone from china bangood and no help is provided...
Infrared works on z7 Max bought from banggood on CM12.1 ROM (www.needrom.com)
But i like the 5.1.1 oficiall rom is there any way to make it work i fixfmradio by finding an zfwapp.apk from previous official rom i also install ircontrol.apk and its the nubia one but is notworking pls help me enable ir here

this is the infrared apk (cn.nubia.control v3.0.1.1011) from the CM12.1 that works 100% in the CM12.1 ROM, you can try it on your ROM and see.
Note: - i beleive it has to be a system app but you can try installing as normal and see if it works, if not then you will have to make it a system app, also the Z7 Max has to be rooted to be able to do as below.
Here's how to make it a system app -
1). Install the attached app as usual.
2). use an explorer app like 'Root Explorer' and
move "ZTE_IRControl.apk" (which will very likely be in /data/app)
to /system/priv-app
then restart phone and then try the infrared app.

I can't install apk ..... Phone is rooted
---------- Post added at 03:53 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:35 PM ----------
This apk doesn't install I have the phone rooted and my ircontrol.apk that I got from previous ROM I install it doesn't work then move it to system/priv-app reboot still not working I'm loving this phone but I don't like that ir is not working
I got mine from Banggood as well. Here's how I got both FM and IR working. All referenced apps unless otherwise stated can be found on Needrom under the Z7 Max section.
Phone needs to be rooted - use the utility "Z7 Max All In One Tool v3.3.0" to root and install TWRP, followed by SuperSU ZIP file from Chainfire via TWRP.
Extract the nubia_IRControl1.apk and nubia_ZFM.apk from the Stock ROM V3.89. Place them in your SDCard/microSD card.
Under Settings > Security - Allow installation from Unknown Sources, install the IR and FM APKs.
I used 3C Toolbox Pro from Play Store to move both apps to the system folder. Both runs nicely in the stock Nubia 3.96 that came on the phone.
Further on, I flashed the ResurrectionRemix Nougat Rom dated Feb 03, 2017, both IR and FM apps are already included and working. Both the stock and RR ROMs were working nicely, I just wanted the latest security patch by moving to RR.
For starters thank you very much for your help I already root my device with kingroot and I copy the twoapks from previous ROM 3.89 and install them then made them system apps by copying them to priv-app with root explorer
The problem is that the IR still not working can you help me skittle bit more cause I don't won't to change ROM I like this 3.96 please advise...please
finally I flashed the ResurrectionRemix Nougat Rom dated Feb 03, 2017, both IR and FM apps are already included and working...do you have a link of official rom 3.96??
Unfortunately I cannot find a download for 3.96, the latest available is 3.89 from Needrom.
hi
i too have the same issues, basically the IR has not been built into the lollipop rom. any help greatly appreciated as i love this rom
Radio is working on 3.96 but not ir only in RR nougat
Had other things take my attention off this problem - Glad to see lots of useful info in the thread now
I'd better get downloading and faffing.
