[DEVELOPERS ANNOUNCEMENT] Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime (G530x) is now dead - Galaxy Grand Prime General

Toward all the user who had used, still uses, and will use the G530x variant.
I, on behalf of many developers who had contributed their efforts toward our phone, has spent times to think about this before we saying. Developers has tried their best to bring our phone to the glory that it used to be, developing our phone from Samsung's last update (Lollipop) to now smooth and nearly stable Oreo. But time went on, and people had to change. So do phones, too. Our developers are now busying with many things in their life, and many can't accept the fact to use an old and slow phone in the upcoming months. Incentive to developing new things for our phone has gone down so much. This is the fact that so many people between us has known about for too long, but can't accept. But now, it's time to put it down and say it clear:
THIS PHONE IS DEAD NOW. THERE WILL BE LESS UPDATES TOWARD THE PHONE AFTER THIS TIME
I know for some of you, it's hard to swallow when you heard this. But guys, it's time to move on.
Farewell,
The Smartphone's Grim Reaper
P.S: Toward new developers who has the incentive to push this phone to the limit, I would wish you guys the best. And never lose the dreams.

This is confirmed.
All developers, admins and most of users at Grand Prime's International Telegram Group already have a new phone.
Developers :
- @Jovic77 maybe will get his P9 way sooner than you guys thought. ( confirmed at TG group )
- @unknown doesn't have VPS to use right now and already moved on with his Xiaomi Redmi Note 5
- @ducphan397 is also out of VPS to use and planning to buy a new device next year.
- Many TW ROM developers and contributors. ( It's hard to me to remember all of them, but if you want to be mentioned, please PM me and i'll edit my post )
Huge Contributed Users :
- @OreoLasagne already ditched his GP and moved on with his brand new J6 2018
- @D.R-Ult.Googler ( Yup, that's me, been here helping since 2015, and in Telegram, you may know me as Dante Enoshima, one of the admins ) also moved on with J7 Prime ( but i'll keep my Grand Prime for now ).
Past devs and important contributors :
- He was known as Sassy at TG ( he helped the group a lot as an admin, heck, he even made a custom bot just for the Grand Prime group ) but now he moved on with ( last known device ) his S7
- @Carlos Arriaga. He brought us many, many MM roms. He's also made a custom kernel, Explosion kernel. But now he moved on with his Xiaomi
- @kn06497. Brought us some real nice L and M roms. But now, he's disappeared. ( Don't know what's he doing now )
- @Has.007. First, he brought us J5 ROM, then some M roms, then tons of N ROMs. He's also a real nice guy, both here and at the Telegram group. But now he's gone becuase of his studies + moved on with his new Samsung phone ( i know it's a J series, but i forgot which one )
And many, many contributing users who helped us with feedback, logs, etc etc also already moved on.
For those who still using GP, thank you for staying with us for this long :') .
And @vince2678, thank you. Thank you for all of your time and effort to keep this phone alive. If you still want to continue devving for this device, i'll say it again, and this time on the behalf on the entire Grand Prime community : Thank you. But if you want to quit, it's alright. We understand. If you do leave, Good luck with your future.
Thank you for reading both OP and this' very, very long post.
Sincerely,
D.R-Ult.Googler [ Dante Enoshima ]

I'm mentioning more!
People Behind Gracified Hybrid/Prime/Miix:
@Lumière896 for those awesome TouchWiz ROMs, and being the main mastermind of Galaxy On7 Hybrid (Miix's base since the beginning).
@asarre. You just gave me the inspiration to make Miix. Your ROMs just scream amazing. If not for you, I wouldn't even thought of making a Samsung Experience-styled ROM.
@abooooood for the awesome testing every ROM here and being with me fixing bugs since the beginning. Woah, that was a year.
@mdmaher. Even though we haven't made Miix stable for the FZ ?, it was still an awesome journey.
@aurelio.9851 for awesome FZ testing.
@L3R0N for maintaining the G530T/T1/W, even for a short time.
@yash manwani for a lot of mods, starting Prime's AddONs to Miix's Mx+ Addons.
@OreoLasagne. My self-proclaimed number 1 fan of Miix. (xD) Best wishes with your new phone!
More People:
@Has.007. If it wasn't for your great work with porting Nameless J5, Miix wouldn't have been as stable as it is now.
https://t.me/imspodernamwtf those SystemUI and InCallUI mods are just purely awesome.
@Nikhilkumar038. I know you don't have this device, but thank you so much for being the "second member" of HybridTeam. You deserve this.
And to all people who have tested, used, and loved Miix (and all of my works), thank you.
I'll see 'ya on the Huawei Y6 (2018) forums! Soon.
Spread the love of devving!
#ForTheLoveOfDevving

Thanks to all the devs.
I want to thank to every developer who spent time doing builds and ROMs for this great device, i have tested so many ROMs in my Grand Prime and it's clear that, you guys put a lot of effort making every build, every new function, new characteristics, themes, recovery, kernels, and a lot of more stuff done in order to keep our device with the lastest advantages on Android apps and system. When i got my Grand Prime i didn't think it was going to have so many many Android ROMs and development (6.0 6.0.1 7.1.2 8.1.0), but when i started browsing on my own and finding forums like this one (i just registered my account a few days ago, i regret not have it done before) i discovered a new world full of new things for this phone.
Thanks, thanks to all of you.
(I pressed the "thanks" button on every thread too )
By now i'll keep my Grand Prime [SM-G530M fortunalteub] Running Android 8 (by vince2678) thanks to you too!

Tired of all these roms...

It seems like a Rom comes out one week just to be superseded by another Rom the next week! Is it me or is this mainly done by the compilers to get donations
Seems to be ramping up since the GN2 had released. We need quality, not quantity...

HARD CLOSED
Sir, since you posted, I will address this and I hope it is understood.
First development is just that...and that is what is going here, by the Developers/Themer and ROM makers around here, they are developing and working on their ROMs tweaking/mod'ing/ making them as stable as possible...btw you should understand that work done here, is their work (ROMs), to which they are kind enough to provide/share with all on this Developers Site...called XDA. All free there is no charge, yes donations are done but they are just that donations.
And the reason you see so many updates, that is called>>development; to say you are tired of seeing ROMs, WOW sir, I would be saying Thank You to the RDs/RTs and RCs and ROM cookers/tweakers for taking the time and seeing what users are providing to help in their work. To which we all benefit from...
If you find a ROM that works for you fine, use it do what you want, since it was freely given/provide again just say Thank You.
This reply was not meant to put you on blast...so to speak, but I hope I brought a better understanding for you.
Sir, please do not open these type threads, Thank You and as stated above in red...

Comunity evolution discussion (opinions sharing)

Hi guys! How are u opt brothers?
As title says I'd like to ear ur opinion on what is happening on modders comunity around opt, I'll try to say my ideas but please... Excuse my English I won't post in Italian just because translators dsnt make good work with my language hehe
I opened this post because I really don't understand what's happening and what will happen to us, I came from just 2 other phones, HTC hd2 and galaxy s4,both kept for 3 years
I know those were phones who had a big success in therm of selling numbers and had a big, very big, work here on xda since the firsts days, many kernels many roms, many new ideas on add-ons and so on
I don't see the same enthusiasm here in opt section, there are various very good modders, just thinking about boeffla (great work bro!) and ak who sold his opt and won't continue his awesome work.
I think we are paying the lack of big sells, they opened very soon the free purchase without invites I really hope this will change something but there are too many competitors right now
I have to say the few roms that still recives updates are awesome, with some problems I know... But I see the work behind the scenes and it's great, also see some modders working on cm13 and his recovery, but lack of cm kernels is heavy and I don't know if, with marshmallow, there will be a revamp on comunity (maybe all coders are just waiting for M to start working)
Those are my ideas, I'd really like to see ur opinions and maybe tell me I'm completely wrong, I really hope it!! Hehehe

Our Gratitude to [Unjustified Dev] and [DrakenFX] for CM13

Hola
After many months, our dev's have delivered. I can't help but create a separate thread to say THANK YOU FOLKS to making it a reality, the true spirit of community and working together has delivered.
A very special honorable to [B4oE] to providing an actual Axon 7 to [Unjustified Dev] which I am surely helped greatly in getting work done. Thank you mates.
One of my favorite songs that I thought was appropriate
Hopefully this now spawns other CM related ROMs...

THANK YOU
YOU DA MAN!
Thank you brother's.
Thank you for your hard work every one, the amount of progress made in the last few days has been exciting, and it has been fast-paced.
Thank you immensely @UnjustifiedDev and @DrakenFX for all the hard work. You guys rock!
Sent from my ZTE A2017U using Tapatalk
Thank you both @UnjustifiedDev and @DrakenFX for all you have done and will do!! Much appreciated gents and a donation will be forthcoming!
Well good work, but if the sound on CM can't be improved, CM is pretty much dead on this phone for daily driver usage. You can't use it to make calls, you can't use it to hear music via speakers and the headphone sound is very low end quality. So after 2 days CM i had to go back to stock.
Definately a HUGE thanks to both of you for your months of hard work! More than just the ROMs, but all the little things along the way!
Seriously, thank you @Unjustifieddev and @DrakenFX.
@UnjustifiedDev and @DrakenFX, the Axon 7 community really appreciates the time you put in to make CM a reality on this device.
I've had half a dozen Android phones. If I remember correctly, my first true smartphone was a Palm Pre, which I rooted and tinkered with for hours on end. Then I got the HTC EVO 4G, the Pantech Burst, the Galaxy S5, the OnePlus 2, and now the Axon 7.
Let me tell you, we all breathe a huge sigh of relief and share immense feelings of joy when we discover that new ROMs have been made available for our devices. But more importantly, we get the feeling that we are not alone.
It's these shared feelings and interests that bring device communities like this together, and guys like you are the catalysts that ignite the spirit of development in all of us.
By the way everyone, I'm drigg. I've posted on XDA before, but I wanted a fresh start. Nice to meet you all.
Thanks
Thanks to @Unjustifieddev and @DrakenFX. I can now use my A2017. I live in Australia and bought the phone even with some reviews saying that the software isn't very good, thinking it might be atleast usable. But it was much worse. I am on optus network and there was constant disconnection and battery drain. Seriously the chinese rom is very very bad. Rooting and using this breathed a new life to the phone. How can a company get so bad in ROm dept. would like to donate some money later as well.

Let's keep the comments ON-TOPIC and respectful.
If you can't post without violating XDA Rules, simply don't post at all.
Your cooperation is appreciated.
I'd like to thank you two, as well as everyone who has contributed to this community. Y'all rock!
After doubting for many weeks on end (After having lost a EUR 300 Oneplus One and a EUR 265 Nexus 5X in about two months) I finally bit the bullet this evening. SUCCESS!
A huge thanks to @tennear for guiding me in this whole process, I owe you man.
I strongly recommend A2017G users to flash TWRP using his method and after that unlocking bootloader via TWRP via Starvirus' method. Tenfar's guides are no good for A2017G devices, the risk is too large.
Thanks @DrakenFX and @Starvirus for the guides on unlocking the BL using adb, adb sideload and TWRP.
A big thanks also goes to @Unjustified Dev and @DrakenFX for the wonderful CM13. It might contain a few bugs, I'm pretty sure I'm going to use this as a daily driver. I have yet to check out Z.A.D. M.i.x.
As a means of paying back to the community I have put aside some cash to donate to the aforementioned users. I will also write a guide that is as detailed as possible for A2017G users. Currently, the information concerning how to relatively safely unlock BL and install TWRP for this model is way too cluttered and complicated.

[Discussion] State of the Grand 2 - What we were and what are we now

A little about myself and the ethos I have to talk
I am Waseem Alkurdi, developer and owner of a Grand 2 since July 2014, and one of the earliest contributors to the community (Does anybody remember The Ultimate S5 Mod or MicroKat?).
I have a little mission to complete before taking my Grand 2 out of active service as a daily driver (NOT GOING TO DESERT IT THOUGH, EVER) which is building every next Android version from AOSP/CM (Lineage) sources (starting from Android O until the last version of Android that boots on 1.5 GB of RAM) and porting something significant to this beaut (I'm talking about OEM ROMs, but tips are welcome!)
What the Grand 2 was one day
The Grand 2 was the utopia of an Android device community turned real.
The community was rolling out ROM after ROM, mod after mod, and everybody was excited ...
First, @balliboxer rolled out the first TouchWiz (Android 4.3-based) rooted ROM for the device, and that was May 2014 if I remember. It was the first victory for the community, as everybody thought that the device could never see root because of the Qualcomm SecureBoot technology, which apparently got everybody thinking about a locked bootloader, which was not the case. (If anybody has a Grand 2 on 4.3, boot into Download Mode and you'll see what I mean: QUALCOMM SECUREBOOT: ENABLED in blue letters).
Then came the official KitKat update: Of the most important changes was that the dreaded QUALCOMM SECUREBOOT:ENABLED line was replaced with a red UDC:START in red letters). Does that mean that technology was disabled? Only God knows.
With the KitKat update came GenNxt, another ROM by @balliboxer, and one of my first projects, the Ultimate S5 Mod. The mod exploited the S5 code hidden under the stock ROM to "transform" the device into an S5 look-alike.
But my mod has lost the limelight when @balliboxer and @aapav01 came out with the S5 mini port ROM. The ROM was not a lookalike, it was the real deal, and was a hit to Samsung itself and their corporate policy of not updating the UI design of older devices.
Then came the 4.4.4 port from the S3 Neo, another device with the same SoC as the Grand 2. It hadn't received much attention though, as the S5 mini port took it all.
At about the same time, I released MicroKat, a barebones ROM based on stock. It has received some attention from people whom I call "purists", those who like everything pure without the garbage that sticks to stuff at times, and from people who wanted the most performance of their devices.
Later on, a stream of ROMs came: A bombshell of 4.4.4 CyanogenMod 11, CyanognenMod 12 by @mukulsoni, another S5 mini port, this time using Lollipop TouchWiz, and CyanogenMod 13, and later, 14, by @adityaupreti, ResurrectionRemix M by @buggatty, and some Nougat ROMs by @SoUnd001, among more. With each ROM came a surprise.
Where the Grand 2 stands today
We, folks, have passed the climax of the story of our Grand 2. Way long ago, to be honest. We have hit the climax in those ol' times when the team of contributors ported ROM after ROM, when Android Lollipop from source was nothing to this community, and when the Lollipop port from the S5 Mini was being downloaded like nothing the Internet has ever seen
Folks, this device is officially dead.
But is the Snapdragon 400 SoC archaically old?
Heck, no!
Is 1.5 GB of RAM dead?
Heck, no!
What killed the Grand 2 is nothing but the childish bickering of the community.
Yep, the whole community, myself included.
When the same generous developers of our community and all of XDA turn into selfish, egoistic bullies, because of their impatience with some kids, yeah, kids, babies, children who have not been taught respect by their families, who are equally rude, that's what we get, the current state of the Grand 2.
I am not referring to one incident, but to a collective of incidents.
What is supposed to happen
Quite nothing could be done.
Well, quite nothing could be done to a community which has brought itself down.
Speaking for myself, I will aim at my goals, listed above, no matter what. But for other developers, all of which are of higher order than I am, please give this community a second chance.
I have a word for them (especially @adityaupret i
The Grand 2 community is at risk of collapsing prematurely. One hand cannot clap, as we Arabs say. However, all of our hands can work together for the prosperity of the community. Do you want to save this community?

SoUnd001 is still active as he said earlier(but he deleted his recent TW MM port so i rather doubt it), i am trying to make MIUI 8. Another friend of mine is working on FlymeOS.
Other than that there are no projects/devs active. If i succeed with MIUI & my friend also succeed with FlymeOS then we will work on more projects and try to keep the developement alive.
Are you also working on any project???

@WaseemAlkurdi bro Glad to see you after long Time.... i dont know whether u remember me or not but i remember u from the effort u took for CM11....
We still expecting u to return to development..... Aditya Upreti will be always be helpful for our Device as my knowledge is concerned...(may be its false) .....
Once upon a time balliboxer ruled Grand 2 and then aapav ruled and then aditya ruled and now its dethroned... its set as free for someone whom we r waiting to enthrone to rule Grand 2 Developments back....

First, I do remember you ... It's indeed a pleasure to hear from you after all that time ...
Well, as far as I could see, Aditya and @SoUnd001 have announced that they'll desert the Grand 2 (on the ResurrectionRemix Nougat thread), with threats of using the moderators for "policing" of the community, effectively installing (politically not technically here) themselves as absolute monarchs, waving their device trees, as if it was only them who had the intelligence and skill of learning the craft ...
But they are indeed justified and I do agree with them, as some users are indeed rude ...
Have they stepped back from their decision?
I hope they do.
Edit: RR Nougat is back online.

It is great to know that there's some hope left ... Wish you and your friends the best of luck!
@SoUnd001, as it seems, is out of the scene for the time being.
As for myself, I am a Grade 12 student, and I have halted almost all electronic activity until I finish my secondary education exams (like the IGCSE, but my country's flavor).
However, I intend to start building a multitude of ROMs (mostly AOSP-based) from source starting June-July 2017.
Well G2 was having some Awesome Roms and Ports !
When Aapav ported TW LL from S5 Mini then Whole G2 Development loved that ROM.....all were crazy abt it ! As Samsung left G2 to die alone !
But after some time Aapav left G2 becoz of people ! And then Aditya and Sound were left on G2....They made cool rom to make G2 Live more ! Aditya Booted first Android N Rom on G2 and TW MM on G2 ! And then Aditya and Sound both made RR N....but again people spam bug bug bug.....NO Voice...how can I use...and soo on ! Soo they both decided to left Development ! But after a While....more longer....They came back with First ALPHA Release of TW MM.....And it was srsly the Best rom for G2 as it was TW MM which Samsung would never even thought that it will be Booted ! But due to some problems the Thread was closed.....but still I can hope that Aditya and Sound will again Release TW MM if they think that It is Fully STABLE to get it Released !
G2 lived a Very long Life !
And we shld thank all the Developers for that....Just Thank them not Spam them !
Regards @bravoInc
Can anybody please tell me what "skills" I require if I'm to start with this so called "Android Development"? (building thingies from source). It'd be really helpful.
great

Generally, you will need:
A computer running Linux, preferably Ubuntu
Knowledge on Linux (just some terminal-friendliness, no need for really deep knowledge)
Knowledge about Android; pretend to be a doctor or your ol' mechanic and carefully dissect the stock ROM or any other ROM to get that)
Lack of terminalphobia is absolutely essential, as the whole Android build process is in the terminal.
Debugging interfaces shipped with Android (logcat, dmesg, and the whole lot)
Being generally tech-savvy (not running to others for help, but learning by trial and error, knowing how to wisely use Google, and knowing how to multiboot Windows, Linux, and Mac OS is generally proof of that)
Edit: Forgot a knowledge of a) programming (recommended, not obligatory) and b) Git and source control.
Worse news guys. SoUnd001 left Grand 2 & moved on to J5 developement. He even deleted his device tree. He and aditya got some problems thats why he left
So in my opinion we must setup a device tree if developement has to be continued. @Hammerhead2502 @WaseemAlkurdi & all other people willing to join hands to keep the developement alive please do something :'(

For me, and once again, I will be fully dedicated as of Jun.-Jul. 2017, not a day before that.
And although what SoUnd001 did of removal of trees was rude and unethical in open-source community terms, it is totally his right as his own effort and mental work. Being his right though, does not justify the action, and again, he is not the only one with the mental ability and skill needed to start building Android.

Yes i agree he has rights to delete and all. I don't blame him. But as usual Grand 2's developement is the one to bare the consequences of aditya & SoUnd's fight.
So in my opinion the first step should be setting up a device tree.

Donate developers for Redmi 5

Hi,dont understand the situation about developing for our Rosy - why Juanan dont post here his ROM´s directly himself?I want support this guy or other developers too,to get more ROMs or maybe better one of them very stable
I know,we dont have 8.1 source code for Rosy yet ,so its difficult to port or develop time is needed and time is money ...
yeah it would be awesome and i would donate if i could but right now i'm very broke and can't do that but atleast i can support with words because we really need developers to help on our redmi 5 roms and especially juanan who would be great if he directly would post and help us with bug fixes of the treble roms and other roms since he is a really great developer
I will agree ... he is a very good person and needs help
i handle juanans roms on xda, since we spoke and he sayd that xda is too much for him, with developing and his life i donated to juanan too , so everyone feel free to do the same, since everytime i send him money he was very eager to do more on developing,.. and juanan is a good person too .
Dont understand why or what is hard for him to post his ROMs on XDA too if he is posting it on Telegram /which I find more messy if You want find something from past - everyone there want say something .../ its shame if his hard work is getting lost there,XDA has bigger crowd than Telegram group with around 950 R5 owners
If You spoke with him, tell him that some of us,wants to know how to donate him
thread closed,
Soliciting donations is not allowed. If members decided to donate it should only be because they like the work of the developer and not in search of a new device.
Thank you for your understanding.
