Change default picture-in-picture location - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there any way to make the picture-in-picture feature automatically open in the top left, rather than the bottom right.
I ask this because I'm using an Android car head unit (PX5 chipset) and most of the non-configurable apps have useless space in the top left (e.g. album art in the music app), so it'd be really nice if Google Maps PIP mode defaulted to here without me having to drag it every time. I'm quite happy to root or mess around with build.prop if necessary, but have had no luck with search trying to figure out how to do this.

I've lost the cover-art flo menu...

Hi all,
I'm sure I'm missing something obvious here but I was flicking through some of the sample tracks that came with my Hero and then I clicked on one to make it play. Now I cannot get back to the screen where you can flick left and right through the cover-art of the tracks; I can only see the lists of albums/artists etc, not the iphone like cover-flo...
Help!
S.
There is a button in the bottom right corner while the track is playing and the music app is open to switch between cover flow and list view.
Thanks but that doesn't help. I can get the view up so that an album is displayed on the screen, but it says 1 of 1 and I cannot scroll left or rigt to other albums no matter what I do.
How frustrating, I don't get what's happened here? What could have changed?
Lol, can someone please assist, I just know the solution is right under my nose...
Not sure its the same problem but I couldnt search by cover flow either so I tried a few things
I rarely browse by artist and pick the first artist - I have found that this option gave me back the cover flow to scroll across all the albums for all artists
Strangely, album browse only gives the list view as do all the others - hope this helps a little

Go to the music app, use the bottom left button to go to music selection. Select the albums tab (second tab). Menu -> Play all. It will enqueue all your albums and you can now flick through them in a coverflow style in the main music app.
Awesome! Thanks for that. I appreciate I may seem a little stupid for not realising that's what I had to do, but come on - hardly intuitive now is it?
I agree, had the same problem for a while.

[Q] Switching between 4 apps in the car and other environments

What is the fastest and easiest way way to switch between four apps in the car. For example Google Nav, Poweramp, Trapster, and a speedometer app. A wave of the hand would be nice. I have looked at several and used a few. Smart Task Switcher, a reviewer said “Was warned about this app due to access to contacts permissions which dev says is used in China for advertising”. AppSwipe only does two ( the last opened). The “car apps” say nothing about task switching or is it shown in the Youtube videos. It would be nicer if an app would isolate and load these four programs from one key push then allow fast switching. A snap of the fingers would be another way to switch between these four apps. Also, a slideshow type thing of these four apps with the option to stay on the current one showing might be an idea. Or, one app that puts to the front the needed app, like the media player about the first and last 5 seconds of a song, trapster like app that would popup during notifications, navigation about 10 seconds before and after turns, and the speedometer the rest of the time. I'm just thinking out loud. Holding down the home key is not a good fit. Bottom line is I need a better task switcher (not killer) for the auto. An app that would allow me to map a steering wheel button in my 2011 Ford Fusion SEL for task switching would be golden! A friend's suggestion was to get four phones, so that one is already out there.
I tried Car Dock Home v3. It works by using a launcher that uses the back key to return to it's home screen, then another task can be selected via a shortcut. Unfortunately it cancels Google Navigation when the back key is hit to go to CDHv3 home screen. This would have been a better solution as it takes two key presses. It would be the best solution to perform one action to cycle through the desired programs. I installed Smart Task Switcher and that was good in theory but I could not find how to configure correctly and the floating button is far too small and often requires several taps, and that is sitting at the desk. There is a paid version where some of this is supposedly settable but from my experience with this app I don't think this is a solution.
The car was the first place that came to mind. But the need to quickly and efficiently switch task is useful in several environments.
I have hit a dead end and any suggestions would be appreciated.
Hey man,Im surprised you expect a phone to act as a tomtom,mp3 player and christ knows what else simultaneously.

The S2 runs everything just fine, there is just not an efficient way to switch between them.

[Q] Google Maps Navigation interface without directions

Using the older versions of Google Maps Navigation, it used to be possible to start up the navigation UI directly from a shortcut. There's nothing worse than having a great feature removed in an update. That ability has been removed from the latest versions, and you must now go through the normal maps app to reach the navigation UI. It's an annoying extra step, and apparently there are workarounds. But that's not my real major concern.
My big concern is that it now seems completely impossible to open the navigation style map display without entering a destination. That is often my preferred way to use the navigation. If I know where I'm going, then I have no interest in any of the turn-by-turn or other related functions. But I still want to have my navigation screen open, so I can see upcoming traffic, or just be able to quickly glance to see where I am and/or what's around me.
The standard map interface does those things, but it is useless while driving. It shows text way too small to see at a glance, and never positions the dot properly, and never even gets the direction of travel correct. The navigation interface is designed to be viewed while driving, and it does the job extremely well.
So does anyone know any way to see the navigation display without entering a destination? I've been searching the app and searching online for hours with no luck.

[Q] Bluetooth Media Buttons and App Functionality

I am a recent switchover from iPhone 5 to a Galaxy s5 and need some clarification on how Bluetooth devices and their buttons work with applications both in focus and in background.
I use mapping programs like Waze in addition to Pandora, Spotify, ect and am finding that my car stereo's bluetooth controls don't seem to control the music in regards to play/pause/FF/RW unless the application is in the foreground. Is this the way it is supposed to function or is this a quirk with my S5?
From what I have read it seems like it is a limitation of the way Android handles the media controls, but I would like to know for sure.
I have also found the same to be true when using an LG Tone Pro with Chrome open. You can't control the music unless you either switch to the music app, or goto a menu function of Chrome and the media controls work again. For example, in Chrome open up bookmarks using the three little dots in top right and leave that window open and media controls work as long as this is in focus. Seems odd to me.
In Waze you get the same effect. If you click on the button in the lower left to bring up the menu, leave it open, you can use media controls as long as there is focus.. once you click away it goes away.
Hope somebody can tell me that I am missing something, because this is a real bummer.

Miui 7 Cleaner exception doesn't seem to work

The cleaner/security app keeps deleting my Google Map offline maps.
There is a cleaner exception list but somehow there is no way to put an app on that list.
I did find out that you can navigate to the "Recent app" list and assuming Google
Map app is on the list - swipe down to lock it. I did and it partially work.
With this locked - Security/Cleaner when run manually will bypass cleaning of
Google Map's offline files - *BUT* if the cleaner is autostarted to clean in the
background - it still blow away Google Map's files.. Looks like a bug to me.
Any ideas. I disable autocleaning for now.
Solution found..
Here is an update. I think I found the way to add exception.
It is not obvious and frankly this is poor UI design on the part of the cleaner developers..
First, for the app you want to add exception, the app's files in question must be present. If they
are already cleaned, there is no handle in the UI to add the exception.
In my case, I use Google MAP app generate offline maps which keep being cleaned.
I go into Google MAP to generate a offline map. Next go to Security app and run
Cleaner. You will see the files it want to clean. In the case of Google offline maps, they
are listed in the Deep Clean menu under App data. They should be there and it have
the option to "keep" them. Hold down the keep button or I think you might have to
swipe the "Keep" menu (left or right) - you will be presented with a menu to add
an exception to that particular type of file. That's it. The trick is to get to the
exception menu and it is not obvious - I think you need to swipe it or something
(holding down doesn't do anything..)
As I said, this is really poor UI design. Oh well..
BTW, it worked. I left my phone overnight and the offline maps are still there.
Usually they get blown alway after an hour or so…
why not just disable the cleaner?
It always kill the background apps I need.
@wizb98y: Thanks!
One way is to go in security and then in permission and in autostart select the apl u want to keep in background
i found this video and i think it work
video name is .. .( How To Prevent Background App Force Closing For MIUI 7.2 And Above ) you can search it in youtube
how to avoid a particular app files from getting cleared.
