Is it possible to root a BLU S1? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

The custom version is: BLU_S0320WW_V7.0.04.09_GENERIC.
The bootloader might be able to be unlocked, but I tried all one-click root apps & none of them work.
Doubt there is a custom recovery specifically made for this device.

You can root it with magisk. Mine is rooted with it
Download The Blu S1 stock rom(to get The scatter file and boot.img)
Download mt67xx drivers and vcom drivers(install it)
Download Sp Flash tool last version
Download and install Magisk Manager
Copy and paste "Boot.img" from stock rom to the cell phone storage
Open Magisk Manager and clip on install then patch boot.img, navigate an choose The stock boot.img...wait to end
Then flash that patched boot.img with Sp Flash tool. And ta da! You get root!!

Hey i did everything you said and it's still not rooted, please help

[Q] Root/CWM/TWRP - Wiko Lenny 2 (5.1.1, MT6580M)

Since there is no way to root this phone using known root apps or MTK Droid Tools (which won't even make proper scatter file) is there at least some CWM / TWRP available? MTK DT says there is a way to root this phone from CWM but I have no idea where to look for it. I found something for Doogee x5 which has MT6580 (without M) but I'm afraid of doing it, I'm not sure how much different MT6580 and MT6580M are

Root it with the KingRoot app. Don't forget that you must turn USB Debugging on BEFORE you attempt to root it. Once it is rooted, leave USB Debugging on. Also, you should then install Busy Box X from the Play Store. Run Busy Box X and elect to install the busybox.
Then install Flashify from the Play Store. Flashify will not work properly unless you completed the installation of busybox in the system. With Flashify, you can back up the stock boot image (also referred to as the kernel image) and the stock recovery image. Save a copy of the back up files on your computer for safekeeping.
Then go back to MTK Droid Tools (make sure USB Debugginh is still on). Now select the Root, Backup, Recovery tab. Then click on the big button that says "Recovery and Boot." This will make the custom recovery for you. During the process, you will be asked to select the boot image file. Just point to the backup you made of the BOOT image from Flashify.
When the MTK Droid is done its thing, you will now have a CWM recovery for your phone. You will find it in the subfolder called "recovery" under the MTK Droid Tools folder. You will also find a "boot patched" image. You can now flash the new CWM recovery image and the new boot image to your phone by copying those files to your SD card and using Flashify to flash the images. Be careful! Do not make a silly error such as flashing the recovery image to the boot partition or you will soft-brick your phone. Flash recovery image to recovery and boot image to boot.
Don't forget to thank me by clicking the Thanks button if I have helped you. And feel free to follow up with any questions.
I'd like this to be so easy but any root app either PC or android version is failing to root this phone. Only SRSROOT is showing that phone is rooted successful but of course it's not true. I checked with Root checker and it says that root it's not properly installed and SU won't install since there is no root at all.
Also MTK Droid Tools won't detect my chipset in 100%. Won't let me root it there or show those tabs you mentioned. Someone somewhere said that MT6580 isn't fully supported yet and I guess it's true. I can modify config files so program will detect my phone that's why I could use option to make scatter file (which wasn't right one anyway).
Guess I will have to wait little longer to finally get root and recovery for this phone. But it's kinda strange that there is no way to actually root MT6580M but DOOGEE x5 with MT6580 has cwm and root already. I was thinking of using this DOOGEE things to root my phone but at the end I passed. Not worth bricking my only phone.

Use the KINGROOT app. Read what is written CAREFULLY. It is not the kingOroot app. These are two completely different root apps. KingRoot will root you Wiko Lenny 2. KingoRoot will NOT. So, no, you don't have to keep dreaming. Just do it!

Sorry to hear that. In that case, you may have to do it the hard way.
Use MTK Droid to extract the scatter.txt file (assuming it can get a clear, meaningful scatter). Then use SP Flash Tool to read back a full ROM dump of the phone. Process the ROM dump with MTK Droid. During that process you can create the CWM for the phone. If you have the CWM recovery image, then flash it back to the phone using SPF. Finally, boot into recovery and flash the SuperSu v2.46 zip from your SD card and it should be fully rooted.
This whole process will take the major part of 2 hours. The key is getting the scatter.txt and CWM for the phone. If you are able to do it, post those two files so others can benefit.
Of course, all of this depends on whether the MTK 6580 chipset is compatible with MTK Droid and with SP Flash.
Anyone wanna volunteer check whether the phone works with MTK Droid and SP Flash...then giving the process a go if the compatibility checks out? There's always the risk of bricking the phone at the point you flash the custom recovery or when you install SuperSu from the zip. But you can easily revive it with the firmware backup you make with SP Flash.

Well here it is folks...Hanuma has posted the TWRP for the phone! So no need to root the phone the hard way as indicated in my last post. Also, perhaps SP Flash is compatible with the phone (there is firmware and a flash tool provided in a link by Hanuma...not sure if that's SP Flash or some other flash tool). @hanuma...can you provide some clarity here?
So the EASY way to get root is to flash the TWRP recovery to the phone (you'll need the scatter.txt file to use with SP Flash...or use the flash tool cited by Hanuma). Once you flash this custom recovery, download the SuperSu v2.46 to your SD card, and install it from the SD. You should be fully and properly rooted after that.
Remember to first make a BACKUP of your ROM with the flash tool before anything else. This way, you can recover if you make a mistake.
Could someone please post the scatter.txt for the Lenny 2? And confirm whether the flash tool in that link is SP Flash. Good luck.

The second link is only a ROM-Build... i can´t find a flashtool or something looks like a tool... there are only *.img files for recovery, system, etc.... (screenshot attached!!!)
Where i can find a flash tool?

I flashed the recovery succsessfully first time but the touchscreen was without function... so i flashed the recovery a second time but the touch screen don´t react, too ... now i tested it the third time with the same result...
i can´t "swipe to allow the modification" of the TWRP... So the recovery is not permanent and i can´t flash the SuperSU.zip...

Not good! Why is nothing as easy as it should be? That's one reason I hate touch recoveries.
Well since you have all the stock firmware files for the phone, it should now be a trivial task to create your own CWM recovery. Just fire up MTK Droid Tools and connect your phone to the computer via USB cable (make sure USB Debugging is on).
When MTK sees your phone, simply click on the Root, Backup, Recovery tab and the big button (called Recovery and Boot) and MTK Droid will make the CWM recovery image for you. Make sure the little radio button marked "To choose the boot.img file" is checked. During the process, it will ask you to select the boot.img from that firmware folder. It needs that kernel to create the perfect custom recovery for your phone.
Then flash only the new CWM recovery to the phone using the SP Flash Tool, just as you did with the TWRP recovery. Once you've got CWM on there, you can flash the SuperSu zip (this CWM recovery uses only the buttons).
Please post the CWM recovery image, the stock recovery and the scatter.txt file after you've confirmed that it works. That way others on the thread can flash the CWM and root their phones without having to download the huge set of firmware files.

i will give it a try later... because my working machine blocks the .exe file with it´s virusdefinition...

Hi Friends!!!!
First download Helio S20 rom from this link or other : https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BywTv6KKZO4jX3BMMGRGVUFRa28/view
Recovery.img link : http://www26.zippyshare.com/v/3vAjy5kS/file.html
After download Extract the rom and copy scatter file from there and paste into a new folder
AND EXTRACT THE RECOVERY ZIP AND PASTE INTO the new folder
.................First you should try recovery.img from Original folder,if you get bootloop or storage problem then try recovery.img from Fixed folder
You should install mediatek preloader driver
After downlaod sp flash tool from there: http://spflashtools.com/windows/sp-flash-tool-v5-1640
and extract the sp flash tool and select scatter file from the new folder
and choose recovery from the new folder
(you should check recovery box on sp flash tool,if you see uncheck)
After hit download and connect helio s20 in preloader mode
After flah recovery.img if you success to boot in to Twrp then flash this zip : https://download.chainfire.eu/921/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.65-20151226141550.zip?retrieve_file=1
You can try other version

Don't forget this to do in recovery :::: CAUTION (AVOID BOOT LOOP):
Once you select Swipe to Allow Modifications, it modifies your system partition. If you don't flash the root file after that, your phone will suffer boot loop. The original boot image checks if something was changed in the system and it keeps on looking for the original file. Hence, the endless waiting aka boot loop. So you must then flash the SU zip file in order to patch the boot image.
The SU file we'll be using for this guide allows you to do a 'systemless' root. If you want to install future updates for your phone while rooted, you should mount the system partition as read-only. Changing anything inside the system partition will cause you to fail to flash official OTA files.
Mean after flashing twrp, direct flash supersu zip

[Recovery] TWRP 3.0.2 for marshmallow firmware

Hi ,everyone ,
I'm sharing this recovery , ported by Syed Ahmed Ali Shah (All credits to him)
How to install:
Download Spflashtool and recovery zip file
Extract the zip file , you will find the recovery.img + scatter file
Open Spflashtool , and load that scatter file.
The recovery should appears now (in spflashtool , it is supposed to be chacked/selected)
Choose download only and press on download button
Turn of your device ,and plug it in
wait till the succes mark appears
unplug you're device and boot directly to recovery
the recovery will ask you t allow system modification , don't allow for now ...because this will brick (not really,it will stops at logo, can be fixed by rooting it) you're device..
Rooting the device :
Now that you have the recovery ,Download supersu.zip file and flash it with that recovery...
Backup your firmware before rooting/ allowing modification
I'm not responsible for any damage that could happen , do it at your own risk
Hello I have succeeded to boot to TWRP recovery tool but i don't see the buttons
I see only ReadOnly, Language
and also Give permission modification
and I am afraid to brick my new Allure A55 Slim
For updated rom
This method is suitable for marshmallow OTA updated? Because it is impossible to make a backup of rom/data in the MTK Droid tool, as well as generate a scatter file.
Done. TWRP has been flashed, then rooted. The current scatter file can be generated from a ROM backup created by SPFlashTool, using the WwR_MTK software. And also cuting the ROM to img files for flashing, look at 4pda.ru, really powerful combine.

If you can make a backup and know how to use the recovery tools, then you can try. But I recommend trying a safer way first. With the Kingoroot application or AutoRoot Tools on this link https://qitapso.com/how-to-install-twrp-custom-recovery-on-blu-vivo-5-mini/ (works on Lollipop)

I have an OPPO A5s (cph1909) phone. I want to root it because ColorOS takes too much memory and to install a custom rom. I searched for stock rom but I found a stock firmware update file that can be installed by stock recovery. When I extracted the stock firmware, I found a boot.img file. Can I patch it with Magisk and install it by stock recovery? Won't my device go bootloop once I'm done?

its not for OPPO A5s (CPH1909)
The website quotes that, this method is for 'Oppo A5S (PD1818HF)', and I have OPPO A5s (CPH1909), will the method described in the website work for me? Can you please confirm that will this method brick my phone or not?

Install in order.
1st ROOT CHECKER BASIC APK
2nd Magisk manager 7.1.1 apk
3rd MTK EASY ROOT in GITHUb
Exacty ---(mtk easy su apk.)
NO TWRP available?. Use instead FLASHFIRE apk. If flashfire won't open just go to phone settings then change the date to 2013.!!!
Everytime date is updated youll need to do this.
Don't try anything else!! It will fail.

No luck but I am trying a method where I will use temporary root to flash a gsi using PartitionsBackup but I do not want to risk my warranty hehe. If anyone tried it please tell me.

I noticed that the boot img included in the stock rom can be decompressed via zArchiver then, inside there is a file named "boot". There is no file extension maybe it is of ".bin" file format.

I have the same Oppo A5s (CPH1909), I'm Using MTK Easy Root By: JunioJsv®, To Tweak My Device, But not in full control..
For Ex:
Disable Some Apps - But not the All apps can be disable.. Some apps is Still Working when i already Disable it using Titanium Back Up..
Note: Root Privelage Is 100% Working
Lspeed - Tweak's is Working, But dont expect it to be applied in Boot, Since I'm Using MTK Easy Root "BOOTLESS Root" Only..
ToolBox - I'm Using this, To TurnOFF Start-Up Apps, Its Working 100% Sure..
But Don't Turn Off:
•Storage Manager - RAM/Performamce Drop
• Battery - RAM/Performamce Drop
•MediaStorage
•SystemUI
•ColorOS Launcher
•MultimideaLocalService - RAM/Performamce Drop
•Settings
•GameSpace - You Can't Add Games on it

I can make roms and recoveries for this phone but anybody unlocked bootloader? Search for some hacks to unlock bootloader of this phone ?
It's impossible to patch and root Oppo A5s with your current version of Oppo A5s. But I think the other and only way to do that is to avoid the update security version that stops its users to bypass and root Oppo A5. So first, you will need to downgrade your current version. I have successfully patched the older version of stock firmware image of Oppo A5s named CPH1909_EX_11_A34 with latest Magisk Manager. Like usual, download, extract and patch the boot.img.
So the idea here is once you made yourself a patched file you can now use it flash in order to downgrade your device and make it rootable than ever. Then, you will need unlock it's bootloader in order install TWRP Recover to make stuffs flashable.
I'm sorry I can't put links in here yet because I'm a new registered acct here in xda. For the rest of the steps, just google "How to Downgrade Your Android Phone to a Previous Version".
I haven't completed the whole process yet but soon, I will in my free time. Hope it helps?
so, to sum it all up. its not possible to have an alternative rom (android 9 at all?) on this phone model? particular cph1909....
