Can I flash sm-g928s firmware on sm-g928c? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I bought my galaxy s6 edge plus in Dubai, so the model is sm-g928c. But I moved to Korea and I want to use my credit on samsung pay. But the card isn't supported by UAE's samsung pay. So I thought maybe flashing with Korea's stock firmware(sm-928s) might do the job. My question is, is it okay to flash this on my phone?
update: I actually did try to flash the lastest version of it(sm-g928s) on my phone, and it failed with my phone saying secure check fail bootloader. Now I'm thinking the bootloader is the problem. So can I full flash(4 files) sm-g928s on my phone?

Back to Stock from a T-Mobile (unlocked) S2

Hi all,
I got my S2 from T-Mobile UK and have rooted the phone and also installed another firmware on it.
I've also unlocked the phone so it can be used on any network (as I was promised it would be when I bought it, but it wasn't)
If I wish to move back to stock ICS before I sell the phone, must I install a T-Mobile rom or can I install the Samsung release
If I do any of these will the phone remain unlocked to be used on any network
thanks in advance

No that's not possible, Samsung live demo units have missing GSM parts , you can only use them limited with WiFi
That´s not 100% true, you just need the right tools for it, I have assembled the missing GSM parts in an Note 4 Edge 3 weeks ago and it´ss working great.
In addition you need an IMEI (best is when not used in your country, so check syourself an abroad IMEI) and then flash the unit with IMEI and actual SW.
Can u check an LDU S6 Edge for me?

Not trying to be a smartass, but his question was can a activate the GSM part by flashing. The answer is no. Sure you can change the whole mainboard too and have a working phone. Maybe even solder the right missing parts if you have the specialized equipment needed for this. But this is not for the average soul
Buying a Board, checking IMEI and getting the image for the model is much more difficult. But do what ever you want.
your "smartass"
Need some help please
I have a Live demo unit as well, but did not know that the GSM parts were missing, so I rooted it :S Now i cannot seem to get it to boot or flash another firmware on it just to get it up and running again.
Anyway I can get it running again? I just need to be able to undo the root i think, but trying to flash a stock ROM throws the following error:
<ID:0/006> NAND Write Start!!
<ID:0/006> FAIL!
Would really appreciate if you could help.
Thanks!
I've been trying to push a new rom to one of these demo units I've bought off ebay for 2 hours
.
So far
download mode isn't recognised by odin.....WTF?
but the phone is recognised like normal via USB
I put it in developer mode and the stock boot loader allows adb sideload.
but CF-Auto-Root-zeroflte-zerofltedv-smg920i.tar.md5
and twrp-2.8.6.0-zeroflte.img.tar
and a "stock" rom I found
all give wrong footer signature verification failed
There is an update from external storage that doesn't exist!
and update from cache
I don't know how to use that.
So how the help did you root it in the first place?
Without Odin or adb and without root. How do you apply an update? You can't change the recovery....

Hey shadowcliffs
Can You please share those 3 files that you downloaded to recover you SM-G925X LDU?
i flashed lt with the 925f version which messed it up when odin reached flashing modem.img thats when it failed. (probably since it dosent have a modem )
Once i messed up flashing it with a firmware that had modem.img any other firmware couldnt bring it back. (even removed sboot.bin modem.bin cm.bin) out of 925f rom
My original firmware that was on the device is bloated with stuff, but i rather have a working wifialphabet then a bricked device.
So can you please share those files, for i tried everything.
Thank You
You don't need those 3 files, and the AP file (which is 6.6 GB) wont flash anyway. You can just try to flash this recovery for 925x to see if it brings your phone back.

hi guys, just bought the s6 edge and was wondering which variant the g925L is compatible with? is it the same as the g925F in terms of ROMs and such? im actually tempted in flashing a different stock firmware because i dont like the stock korean apps, will it be okay to do that? thank you
+1 for this
anyone? can i root?
Dear @awitee
1)In case of flashing you can flash it with different country but it must be for your model (in case you dont wont to trip knox and use samsung pay)
2)still no root from chainfire fro your model.

Hi thanks for the reply.
So does that mean i cant flash the stock G925F firmware on my G925L model? what will happen if i do?
simple, you'll get bootloop that stays pretty much on the Samsung start logo. Or maybe even nothing at all. You could be directed to Download Mode and it could say update fail, please try to update again. This can all be solved by flashing the designated firmware meant for your phone model. So it's basically a soft brick. No biggie. I won't suggest you try to flash a different model-firmware on your phone. But if you're keen in seeing the results, please go ahead. Just make sure you have your model-specific firmware somewhere, and the non-model-specific firmware that you want to try out (obviously).

Custom ROM for Samsung Galaxy J8

I recently bought a Samsung Galaxy J8 from Australia because I lost my phone there. When I came home to India I found out that the Australian J8 does not support VoLTE (Voice over LTE) but I need VoLTE for my Indian sim card to work. So I went to the Samsung service center but they straight away denied any support since I bought this in another country.
The Indian varient J8 supports VoLTE but the Australian one does not even when both the phones have the exact same hardware. So its a software limitation.
Can anyone suggest any method I can use to install any custom ROM that'll support VoLTE.
I'm willing to install anything, root my phone or whatever it takes since I'm never gonna get any warranty on this. So I might as well try everything else.

Just download Indian firmware from sammobile and flash via odin, that will contain latest modem for your device. It might bring VoLTE, because I think its software problem.

I tried but it won't let me install any other model firmware. My phone's Model Number is SM-J810Y but the phones available in India have model number SM-J810G. So it won't let me install the "G" firmware. I get a failed message.
Do you have any other suggestion?

Flashing SM-G9650 (Brazil) into SM-G965U1 (US)?

Hi. I want to flash a Brazilian firmware (dual SIM) into my US hardware (single SIM). Both are Snapdragon. Reason is that I want to use the Brazilian Samsung Pay. Bough the phone in the US but I live in Brazil.
Can I flash THIS ROM without problems? Will it trigger Knox? Any loss in functionality?
Thank you all.

not possible. also, is there not a CSC for your area you can flash instead?
I don't know why these guys say it's not possible, maybe it isn't with your model. I also don't want to give you any bad ideas or anything, so use your own discretion & research.
My phone was unusable when I did this, so I had nothing to lose when I did this (It worked though).
I easily flashed my canadian note 8 with a us firmware using modified odin (must be same version bootloader).
It has warranty status 0x0 (aka, Knox is NOT tripped).
AGAIN, I'm not advising you try this with your model, unless you know what you're doing. I just want to make the information available to you.
Edit: I'm just waiting for someone to upload snapdragon beta 3 one ui 2.0. I'm going to try the same method to convert my Canadian s9+ to USA version.
Edit 2: I can confirm this method works on my Canadian s9+ aswell.

Yeah I don't think it'll work on mine, since it's a single sim phone, and the ROM I wanted was for a dual sim version. Unless of course the hardware is the same and the second SIM slot is present. I could try, but I don't want to risk it. Maybe later when Sammy stops updating the phone.

Unfortunately not. The SM-G965U1 is the US unlocked version. There are only CSCs for American carriers.

if its truly unlocked, then you should already have the U1 firmware on it. Get modded Odin and the U1 firmware, flash it in Odin and go from there. I never looked back after ditching the carrier junk on my phone
Sometime ago I did somethinh like that on my Arabian S7 Edge that I bough in Paraguai, it was Dual Sim model and i flashed ZTO CSC via Odin, and the phone was working well, but i'm not sure if the reverse works, and even the models were similar (F vs FD version) in your case u have 965U vs 9650, I would not take that risk, i thing that a korean or chinese model is 9650 too
look at this picture, US version has more bands so the modem could be different, you can try but you're risking your phone

yep, they are different phones that just so happen to use the same processor. Different bootloader, same chassis for whatever reason. Anyways, there have been threads talking about converting the 9650 to a 965u, but ive never seen anyone confirming that it indeed works. Big risk, but as long as one can get back to Odin mode, one should be good.
