how durable is desire x

Are there any incidents of desires x falling and breaking off. I used xperia mini in past without case till it got stolen and I dropped it many times. Do I need a case on this phone.???
Anybody using it without case.??
My DX was fall from about 1,60meters. And it wasnt with case..

Desire X cannot handle too much of drops I had dropped my desire x a bit too badly and now the plastic bezel (which feels strong though) gets bent or damaged over all build is ok but u really need a case as and a screen protector as we don't have gorilla glass too to protect the display
My Dx didn't come with a screen protector and the screens gotten a bit scratched (you could buy a load of them for little price) and i havent really felt the need for a case.
so yeah get a screen protector !!
Fancy cases, screen protectors, youre making your phone soft, it cant handle basic using like this, MAN HIM UP! MAKE HIM TOUGH! PUNCH HIM!
no really, I droped my DX from about meter several times on not so much hard surface and it lives nicely, once I droped it in forrest (geocaching), luckily it felt on back, so there is just a scratch in back made by some rock, which is concerning me as much as lack of lemon ice cream in china. Works perfectly, I have never used any case, protector or anything and I am using same pocket for keys and phone... thats a tough one.

Firstly, I think he meant 1.6m. Secondly I don't think anything would break at 160m. Rubber for example...
This is part of the reason I am looking for a rubber body casing.

This phone is durable as long you want to keep it...
Over 1-2 years it will be a piece of s..it and on that time you'll see on market 8core cpu with adreno/tegra X with 3D/4D which will make DX a piece of history...
I saw somewhere disscutions that DX doesn't have Gorilla Glass and so on... Come on, will you keep it forever?

LG G2 scratches out of the box

So I just got my LG G2 today and as I inspected it closely I found a few hairline scratches on the back cover just bellow the LG logo.
Its not big but it annoys the hell out of me. Is it possible to get it replaced? Anyone else received their G2's with a few hairline scratches?

well it comes under physical damage, which is not covered under warranty i guess you have to live wtih it , but that doesnt mean you cant try contacting them about it. the sooner you contact them the better
Yes the store I work at will return scratches it's mainly cracks and easily noticeable things that we don't return. So you should at least call and say you received it like that.

What the plastic cover still on when u unpacked it all 6 sides are covert with plastic and even a small extra around the USB port ? I might have hot one that's already been used and returned from another owner
Any device that comes with faults should be replaced, under the warranty or not.

That sucks, but honestly the back scratches insanely easily. I have had a case on it since day one, never use it without one, and every couple weeks I take it out of the case to clean it with a microfiber cloth. Even then, specs of dust and sand get behind the case and there are small hairline scratches all over the back. It's going to happen eventually.

Just bye a cover for it and a copter screanprotector. Copter makes scratches on the display disappear if there are any. Lifetime warranty from scratches..

Tiny bit of the anti-shatter screen protector burning off?

As you can see from the picture, there's a little spot on the phone. It appeared there about 2months ago and never went away/got any bigger so I concluded it's part of the anti shatter film deteriorated? I was in HK when this happened!
Has this happened to anyone else?

Can you not provide a clearer picture? It is far too blurry.
Should you still have valid warranty I'm sure Sony won't mind replacing the screen protector.

Yep happened to many. its the anti-finger print coating. It comes off very quickly.
Everyone that had this happen to now puts a screen protect on it. It will get worse... so bad that you'll send it back.

Though I understand why Sony uses an anti shatter film I cannot understand why they made them so soft? Within 24 hours of indoor use on my XZ I could see minute scratches.
I Ordered the same time I ordered the Ultra some screen protectors but they have not arrived yet. That bloomin shatter proof film has been a real pain in the butt for so many owners. Removing it voids the warranty here. Two plastic protective covers certainly causes picture deterioration. No way in hell would I use a pencil on the standard soft anti shatter film though.
Sony tend to get so close to producing near perfect devices then nearly always drop the ball on some silly trivia. Very odd company?
Ryland
I actually read last week that Sony is required by Japanese law to use anti-shatter films on their handheld devices so people don't get hurt when they shatter. I'm not sure if this is indeed true, but i read it twice last week (can't remember where i read it though, but it was on tech site).
I've had my ultra several months now and as of now, the screen protector is just as it was from day one. Lucky me!
It is, however, a fingerprint magnet!

Maybe this one..
About the shatter proof film, it is Japanese legislation, they put it because it is required. They dont have to do that for phones sold outside Japan but they chose to do it anyway (maybe because they dont like lawsuits from people who got their pockets full of tiny pieces of razor sharp glass) with few exceptions (like the international model of Z Ultra, the film would kinda ruin the use of pencils as stylus)

I removed the screen protector on mine a while back, and its much better. The touchscreen works better, the feel of glass is nicer and its far more scratch resistant. The only downside is that without a proper oleophobic coating I need to apply rain-x every couple of weeks or the screen picks up smudges. :good:

I got a highly annoying scratch in the middle of the screen on the factory protector after just three days that was very visible when the screen was on. I never put protectors on my phones and I never get scratches after months of use.
So I removed the protector and go naked from now on as I always do.
Supposedly Sony replace for new anti shatter protector after each repair is that correct? As I asked for mine to be changed and Ok they said yes. So if that's the case why did people remove the anti shatter film and just void their warranty instead of getting Sony to change it. Plus I had problems with my Usb port and Usb cover so sending it off tomorrow

some people prefer the feel of the glass. also, its a HUGE fingerprint magnet (more than any pure glass ive ever used).
im in the middle of removing mine right now. its incredibly tedious and annoying, but itll be worth it once i get my glass-m on it!
:good:
Or put the glass m over the top and not void warranty. It may be a finger print magnet I no that. But I'd rather wipe it and carry on instead of spending about a scary tedious 2-3 hours taking it off voiding warranty just for some finger prints. Just my opinion but still. I gotta send mine off hopefully tomorrow though. I hope they fix my problems without charging me etc.

Just finished. Took a little under an hour. I had some scratches on the screen, so I didn't wanna spend $40 on a screen protector to place over the scratches. Also, I've read about screen distortion and reduced sensitivity when placing a protector over the stock ASP. I know not everyone experiences it, but with my luck, I would... Lol. I hope you get yours taken care of fast and at no charge, mate.

Honor 9 durability

Hello, guys! Newbie here
I wanted to buy this phone as it looks good and is one of the best p/p smartphones available.
As I started to look for videos un youtube I realized that there are no crash/drop tests etc for this phone.
---SO I want you to share your experience with this phone- Anyone of you already got shattered screens? Will it break easely (both front&back sides)? Any survivor stories?
Any feedback would be great!
All I can say is, be carefull, it will break easily since it is made of glassh mostly, if you buy it, grab a tempered glass and a case if you're afraid of dropping it
Seeing as the Honor 9 has a metal and glass sandwich construction. It's safe to say that it is not gonna be very durable against drops

I see. Anyway, Im gonna buy this phone, but use it with some kind of case and screen protector. Also I found that H9 has Gorrila glass 3 (better than H8 with none)
I just wanted to hear real feedback from unlucky H9 dropping nightmares and how they ended, because I assume that screen repair would be pretty expensive.
Anyway- thanks guyz!
The honor 8 also have GG3 (according to honor Russia)
I've been using my honor 8 for more than 10 months without any kind of protection and it's still good, with only small scratches in the bottom back

It's always a good idea to have a case for a glass and metal sandwiched device.
I almost bought the Honor 9, but went with a P10 Plus instead (it was almost cheaper through carrier rebate and has 128gb storage). As my previous phone was a Xperia Z3 I really appreciate the metall back. Glass is nice, but metall holds a lot better . My Z3 was babied and still looks horrible despite getting a new back half way through.
I bought Honor 1 month ago. First day of use it dropped from table on the PVC floor and crushed completely. The screen broke in several places, back didn't crash. It seems that Honor 9 is very fragile or it was Just bad luck. It was insured and it will be repaired for free but I am scared of the future use.

Screen Guard/Protectors (Film) not glass

I'm still looking but only have tempered glass or glass or gorilla glass protectors. Can anyone locate the plastic film types of protectors?
I've had screen protectors in the past as this is enough to stop key scratches and small drops.

Did you try ask Dbrand? They don't have Xperia 5 in the lineup, up to zx3, but I'm almost sure, they'll do you one if you ask.
And I guess even if they won't, you got nothing to loose by trying mailing them. :good:
Unfortunately I don't think this phone has anywhere near the user base for dbrand to produce for it. They're a Canadian company and Sony doesn't offer any phones there currently, and they barely sell any phones in the US.

Thought it was worth a try. ?
Maybe ES then? EasySkinz? You cant know, unless you ask?
Dbrand is to me known, for making skins to whatever, if they get the job. I could be misunderstanding though.
Otherwise. You could just buy some quality m3, and do one your self? With a scalpel and heat? You'll have some try and error in a single sheet. Can't see it should be that hard really. (Just a brainstorm idea, I wouldn't be scared to try, and in what ever color or pattern you wish?) Win win imo. You just need to do the measurements and cutting your self. See it as a fun challenge! And make some custom sh!t! I'd love to try actually, but I'm using a case, and I don't have any m3 laying around. And nothing to use the rest of a sheet for so seems brainless for me to go out buy. When never gonna be visible. But I'd encourage you to try, why not?
:good:
Lastly. If not in mood to try your self. Go down to a car wrapper, with a box of beer 30min before closing. They'll wrapp this no time. I suppose.
 :victory:
That's a wrap. Lol
Guess I got nothing but bad ideas. Sorry.
BTW I actually successful broke my first h9 tempered glass. Real glass. It was cheap but fitted Nicely. But it shattered, phone is intact. :good:

And make some custom sh!t! I'd love to try actually, but I'm using a case, and I don't have any m3 laying around. And nothing to use the rest of a sheet for so seems brainless for me to go out buy. When never gonna be visible. But I'd encourage you to try, why not?
:good:
Lastly. If not in mood to try your self. Go down to a car wrapper, with a box of beer 30min before closing. They'll wrapp this no time. I suppose.
 :victory:
That's a wrap. Lol
Guess I got nothing but bad ideas. Sorry.

BTW, Dbrand got back to me and confirmed there is no plan to add this to their portfolio due to low demand. Very reasonable.

Oh I see mate. Was worth a shot. Then do one ya self, is the option I guess. Or some pro wrapper if not up for the task.
Does anyone know a good silicone protector/case for the xperia 5?
https://www.mobilefun.de/roxfit-sony-xperia-5-protective-soft-shell-case-clear-76819
I have used these protectors on other devices for years
https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/303361246627
They wasn't available so I requested them and the following day they we're released. Not tried it yet on the Xperia 5 but will do when these cheap ones are removed.
Previous experience is the ease of application and can even use water to help fit them properly.
