Problems installing Parallel Space? - Huawei MediaPad M5 Questions & Answers

Got a M5 8.4 WiFi on Amazon's Prime Day last week. Needed to use 2 Facebook accounts with chat. I know Huawei has the App Twin feature but it does not clone FBM Lite (do not wish to use FBM standard due to the bloat). Had been using Parallel Space on my ZTE Axon 7 for a while so tried installing it. However it says it is not compatible on Playstore? Is this because of the OS (EMUI) or CPU (non Snapdragon) does anyone know? Is there a workaround to get it installed (maybe direct apk installation)?
NOTE: Not going to unlock bootloader or root the device due to a very bad experience in the past.

I am able to install it on my 10.8 pro. You can try to install the apk via apkmirror (a more or less secure source other than the play store)

Did you install it directly from Playstore or side load the apk? Playstore throws up the device not compatible message for mine. Same for 2face and 2accounts. App Cloner works but have problems accessing the internet, could be a setting issue.
Also, did you install the 64-bit support for Parallel Space? If so how?

Ok, an update, messing around with the tab a bit more last night, trying to get a working app from Playstore instead of side loading apks. Tried Dr Clone, don't work at all. Then tried App Cloner and it works. The system even recognised the cloned app as a different program to the original, allowing me to apply fingerprint lock to them.

I side loaded APKs for both Parallel Space and the 64-bit support add-on and worked great on my M5 8.4 (SHT-W09). Downloaded from the Game Guardian web site.

Thanks, I solved the problem by using App Cloner, which works better by not having ads. Now going to use it instead of Parallel Space on my phone too.

[Q] Google Play Store and other apps

Has anyone gotten google play store working? I tried following the steps from android cowboy but I get back to back errors for google services no matter what.
On a different note, is there a way to remove the ads/special offers for free?
Thanks,

Google play is a system apps so it's gonna need a rooted or modified rom with bootloader cracked. Same is needed to disable kindle offers.
So is there any good way of getting apps beyond side loading?

Only the second part is true. You can get the Google play store apk on any device, regardless of root or not.

Try this link.
Although it says Kindle Fire HD, ignore that. Ignore step 3. Also ignore anything that says about copying to /system/app.
Just install the apps in the order he has listed then install the "Vending.apk" (That is the Google Play Store). Please also note that you will most likely not be able to install apps from it. :/

One way to get a lot of Android apps onto Kindle, until we get root.

Seems to me like there should be some kind of app you can run on your rooted android device to pull the apk. Then install the full version on the Kindle via sideloading.

Better results
You'll get better results in the interim from installing:
a) 1MobileMarket
or
b) Aptoide
or
c) BlackMart Alpha (shh..)
Tinkering with Google Play Store components before we have root may be an exercise in futility.
The content of the link is quiet useful to me. Thank you for sharing. I decide to buy a licence. :good:
Anyone tried SNAPPEA TO passthru GooglePlay?
I saw a utility SnapPea that seems to allow a pass thru from a PC to Kindle Fire HDX for accessing GooglePlay. As I still have not ordered my HDX I was wondering if anyone has tried this.
Thanks in advance;

The SnapPea app that I just tested is a way to control your android device from a browser on your computer, similar to AirDroid. It does not allow access to Google Play for the Kindle. What it does do is help you to install an .apk file through the browser, but then we can do that already by allowing sideload anyway. So maybe you were thinking about something else?

Same here.. Just bought a Kindle Fire HD 2013 and tried every possible attempt described on many how-to to get it rooted for Google Play. Nothing worked. Device current version is 11.3.0.5.
Tried the side load as well described for HDX. Gmail app works but that's about it.
Anyone succeeded on this version?
Thanks

I basically got pretty much every app to work except for Hangouts and Play Store. This includes everything from Voice to Gmail to Map to Google Earth to Google Plus to whatever. The key for me was to start with base configs that Android Cowboy posted, but then add bunch of dependencies from android 4.2.2 and update with latest version of backed up apps. For example, I have had to install Google Play Services 3.2.66 first and then was able to update to 4.0.31 after reboot. That version was required for Youtube to work properly (i.e. allow account sign-in). Things still crash sometimes, but it's not a huge deal.
Main thing is Youtube, Music, Gmail and Calendar are all working more or less ok. Chrome signed into my google account, but its not pulling down settings (bookmarks, open tabs from other computers, etc...). Google Plus crashes sometimes but works. Hangouts is clearly missing a dependency of some sort. I installed most things I could thing of from default Android 4.2.2 CM10.1 apps package and from backing up my phone (galaxy s4), but it's still no go. It would be nice to get that going as well. Oh well, Skype can cover most things there.

Wanted to confirm that I also have Google Voice working on the HDX 7 (since I rarely see people mentioning it as a Google App). Interestingly, I also got Talkatone working on the HDX with my Google Voice number, even though the app's FAQ plainly says that Google Voice will NOT work with it. As a result, as long as I have wifi, I can now easily use my Google Voice number to make and receive calls.

I'm using the paid version of floating toucher to access recent apps.
To get apps to show up on the stock multi tasking bar you have to open them from the stock home launcher.

Correct. The multitasking feature on the HDX is basically just the Carousel, with exactly the same shortcuts in exactly the same order. The only difference is it's hidden on the edge of the screen until you pull it up. So, just as apps launched from alternative launchers won't show up on the Carousel, they also won't show up on the HDX multitasking bar.

Vudu on 3.2 Update

So I just installed the 3.2 Update for my shield. The Vudu app comes pre-installed. There us already an update for the app in the playstore. But Vudu won't let me play any of my movies in UHD. It shows me that I own the UHD version, but HDX is the biggest resolution it will let me play it in. Anyone able to get UHD to work?

Just came across this Q. You (obviously) need a 4K display (in 4K mode), and need HDCP 2.2 full chain from tv->shield. Missing either of those, it won't show you UHD.

I have both of these. I can view 4k content on all the other apps, but Vudu. Vudu will say that I own the movie in UHD, but HDX is the highest res available. Do you have the Vudu app on your Shield?

There's sites that can generate fake cc and addresses. They're truly fake so you're not ripping anyone off.
Quick Google should reveal them.
Then you can add whatever UV codes in your preferred UK UV partner and a few minutes later the available in vudu.
Where'd you get the apk from? I have the account but find on my UK shield even after spoofing location to California and using an enabler proxy - which works on the tablet version on my Nexus 7

Installed but uninstalls itself between reboots
Hi
so I found out how to get it running with IP mask, location spoof and registration from the app (for some reason 'existing user' wouldn't work)
sideloading the apk then reveals the included app. But frustratingly when rebooted the sideloaded apk disappears and vudu becomes unavailable again. a reinstall fixes it but anyone know how to either stop shield uninstalling or to create a new apk from the original that the shield would accept as a standalone apk?
Thanks
looking forward for more
I'm also looking for a way to get vudu to work on my Norwegian Shield TV. It's not in the play store, even with vpn.. I really want to watch my Vudu movies in UHD on my Shield TV :/

Hi
the apk is actually on the factory image it just doesn't "appear". but does when you sideload (it does get deleted at next reboot).
So download and then sideload.
Haven't tried that method though in a bit. send me a pm to know why.

HELP! Oreo Update. Play Store shows all PAID apps are unpaid (have to purchase again)

Note that I only have one Google account on the device
I bought a brand new sealed Samsung Galaxy Tab S3. I setup the device for the first time and went straight to updating to Marshmallow which then allowed me to finally update to Oreo. So then I tried to install an app that I already paid for. But it said I didn't pay for it (says $3.99 instead of INSTALL). So I thought that maybe it's from a fishy developer who makes their apps temporary free (P.AG.F.) and pulled the rug from under me. But then I noticed all of my paid apps are UNPAID. So then I decided to go for a legit developer who I was confident is a good developer (Nova Launcher Prime), and even on the Play Store page it said I have to pay money for it even though I already purchased it on my Google account. Even when I click on "Purchased Apps" the apps show as purchased, but as soon as I go to the app's page, it show as unpaid.
So I decided to maybe factory reset the device. Nope. The problem persisted. I checked for an OS update past Android 8.0.0. There was no update. So then I decided to lookup an APK mirror for Google Play Services (using Play Services Info), and I downloaded the correct app for my device (architecture and dpi). I installed the latest Play Services. But in Play Services info it shows that my newly installed App is still the old version from 2016. On Play Services Info it says I need to install the 2018 version (obviously I tried to). It didn't do anything. Still did not work
I am wondering if I got a botched update of Oreo. What do I do? I am out ideas at this point. Man what the heck???
EDIT: Play Services version 12.6.88 (also the updated OS install this version)

That's interesting. Mine is 10.2.06 and says it's up to date. It's also working fine. Did your device update to Oreo on it's own or did you flash it with Odin? You're in the US, right?

Also, make sure you are not in your "Secure Folder" when running play store. It will not access your account properly and will force you to pay for everything again.
Can you access Play store from a computer? Do you still see the apps you paid for?
Otherwise, I'd contact Google Support and see what is wrong with your account.

Oh man what the heck. What do I do? My device won't let me downgrade. Oh man. I am screwed. Edit: Yes everything is fine on all of my devices. Including Android emulators. I turned on the "use secure folder" during factory setup. But when I click on Secure Folder it tells me I need to sign in to my Samsung account in order to use it. So I am not even sure if Secure Folder is the issue. Cause it wont even let me into the app unless I sign up. Play Services is 12.6.8 no downgrade allowed. Play Store is 10.2.06 ???

You're not screwed. How did you get Oreo on your device? There isn't a US version so I'm assuming you used Odin. If so did you use the UK version. You're right, you won't be able to down grade to nugat but I'm on Oreo, in the US, and it's working fine.

Nope. I read news today that Samsung Tab S3 in the US are rolling out Oreo updates. I got excited and I was like oh what a coincidence because that day was the same day I decided to open up my brand new Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 from the sealed retail packaging. So like I really didn't do much. No tweaks. No strange configuration or app installations. I literally went through Android settings and installed the updates through the official "search for update" method. Note that the update service found the Marshmallow update and forced me to install it before I would be able to find the Oreo update.
No Odin. No flashing. No rooting. No Adb. Nothing nada. EDIT: It's possible I bought a NON-US version of Tab S3, but I don't see how that is relevant because that version of Tab S3 should have Play Store bugs ironed out by now.

The US version of Oreo isn't available for Odin flash yet, otherwise I'd give it a try and see if it's an issue with the firmware. But I don't think even Samsung would have messed up play store. If it was just released it may be available later today.

Man. Wtf why does this always happen to me with Google? Like in YouTube, my old playlists show up on my PC Chrome Browser. But they don't even exist in the YouTube app (only the new playlists appear). And on YouTube, there is exactly ONE youtuber that I can't toggle notification for, and that is Marquez Brownlee. But if I made another YouTube account I can toggle on the notification (the ringing bell symbol) for this YouTuber just fine.
NOBODY has these issue except me. Why?

Oh I meant that I can't downgrade Play Services, as in I can't install an older version of Play Services.
Another Picture shows the Play Store works fine on other devices. Also here is video of Marquez Brownlee notification problem if you don't believe me. Problem has existed for years already and still hasn't been fixed.
Edit: Second video is portrait because I'm taking it with the Tab S3 with a heavy armored Gumdrop case and can't hold it in landscape (small hand and body) while using the mouse. Don't have tripod either and I was trying to obscure private information.
It isn't that we don't believe you. We do. But there is something wrong with your Google account. If it was me I would factory reset the device and go through the re-install of the Google Account. Somehow Android is not getting updated with your Google Account info so either it is a connectivity issue with Google or something with the install process.

SOLVED.
You have to turn off that option during initial "factory" setup. I couldn't turn it off because I didn't have or don't remember my Samsung Account. You need the Samsung Account in order to go past the login screen for "Secure Folder". As far as I know, there is no way to turn off secure folder after it is turned on without a Samsung Account. Deactivating/disabling the Secure Folder app also did not work. I fixed it by factory resetting the device and making sure that the initial toggle for Secure Folder is set to "OFF" (I think the reset is a necessary prerequisite). It looks like the issue is poor software design. Being required to have an account to turn if off, while being able to turn it on without the account is just a terrible choice in design. User aspexil, you have been thanked.

Glad you got it solved. That might be something new with Oreo. I didn't have that problem when I first got my tab. Ever since it's been rooted and I've never had a Samsung account. Or maybe I turned it off when initially setting up the tab.

Actually it's unsolved again. I typed down Nova Launcher in the search box to check if I have it "paid". And it showed up as paid. But now I realized that I was looking for Nova Launcher Prime. Damn it. I guess I need to flash my Tab S3 to a reliable ROM then?

When you factory reset did it reset to Android v7.1? Maybe just stop there and see if you can get the tablet to work before applying Android v8.0? I haven't used anything but stock so don't know what ROM to use.

Nope. When I factory reset. It reset to Android Oreo 8.0.0. Play Services installed was 12.6.85 (instead of 12.6.88, I think I actually installed 12.6.88 manually via sideloading). The play store version is the same 10.2.06.
So I am wondering which ROM provided online is legitimately unchanged and STOCK so I can just flash via Odin. Then install the Oreo update via WiFi (I am assuming I received a corrupted update that won't happen again).
Also, one guy told me from another thread that he had the same issue and said he just waited a few days and let Play Services "sync" and it just fixed itself automatically. Although, I don't know if he really does have the same problem.

I'm pretty sure you will not be able to install nougut firmware after installing Oreo. The bootloader for Oreo is new and Samsung usually trips an e-fuse when updating the bootloader. But you can give it a try and then letting the device update. I get firmware from updato. But be advised that Oreo for the us isn't available yet (nougut is there). The UK version works fine, though. That's what I'm on.
PS, you'll have to enable developer options and then oem unlock to use Odin.

youtube kids keeps getting removed

I have the stock android v8.0 installed and because yt kids is not available in my country I install it manually through an apk. But after being installed for a few minutes the app is removed
I tried turing off play protect and searching the options but I can't find what's removing the app.
Is there a way to stop this from happening in the stock software?

Is it a legit app? If you have some sort of antivirus/security it may get removed if it contains anything untoward.

Yes it's a legitimate app (youtube kids) by Google but its not available in my country. I have installed it on my other devices without a problem.
I've tried disabling play protect and the built-in antivirus is disabled.

By legit app I mean from a reputable source. Many apps get modified if they're not from official sources.

I've downloaded it from apkmirror which from what I know should be safe and unmodified. Please tell me If you have a better source.

I would say apk mirror would be fine, however you can download direct from Google play:

I tried it, it gave me a very old version. I installed it and the same thing happened.
I took a look at apkmirror. It looks like they have a number of variants depending on the CPU. Which version are you trying to install? This is the CPU based off the specs I found online https://www.qualcomm.com/products/snapdragon/processors/820 but I don't know how to translate that into which variant you need.

It looks like it has to do with android 8, I tried it on a galaxy j7 prime 2 running oreo and a huawei p20 pro also running oreo, after locking the device for a few minutes it gets removed.
I created a new account using a vpn and set my location to the usa, I was able to install the app, but when i stopped the vpn the app was removed after a few minutes. when I go to the play store I find that the app is disabled and I can re-enable it from there, but it will automatically get disabled again after a while.
I'm going to try to downgrade the tablet to android 7 and try this again.
It seems that its happening to other people too

Disney + apk crashing

I was wondering if anyone can help me. I have mi pad 4 until yesterday my Disney plus app worked but now the Disney icon loads up then the app closes. I installed the app through apkpure as Disney plus is not on the Google play store. I have uninstalled the app and installed a historical version but that didn't work neither. Any help would be appreciated as I have toddler who uses the app quite heavily

Are you rooted? Try hiding magisk from the app. It may be that it's detecting root, but that's just a guess
I don't believe it is rooted. I just ran the APK. How can I check? Excuse my ignorance I am not quite that savvy
My Mi Pad 4 was showing incompatible version this morning. I sideloaded 1.61 (nodpi) from apkmirror and it was able to log back in again and stream. My initial install (split apk) was working for a long time. I suspect they depreciated support for older versions that forced the upgrade.

No need to excuse, no worries :good: You would know if you're rooted or not as it's a procedure you have to do yourself. So I'm pretty sure you'd recall doing it. If you bought the device second hand and haven't updated at all, there is a chance the previous owner could have rooted it. If you did wanna check, go to the playstore and search for root checker. Install and run it it'll tell you. Also if you're rooted, you'll most likely have magisk manager installed in your apps. See if that's there, but I doubt it.
See the other guys post above mine for a possible solution. Go to apk mirror website and search for the app version he suggested.
