(T-Mobile) MMS takes forever to send pictures, other questions. - LG V30 Questions & Answers

New gal to this group, y'all seem to know your ****, so I signed up to ask questions as I get issues.
Ever since I got my LG V30 through T-Mobile (october 24 birthday for my phone), MMS (pic with text) has been a pain in the ass to send.
Is there any way to fix this? I've had T-Mobile re-do the APN thing for the phone, I've rebooted endlessly, deleted apps I don't use that MIGHT
have hogged RAM in the background (paranoid from Galaxy S4 years STILL).
I wonder if it's T-Mobile or just the phone? Mom and dad have Galaxy S9 through Military plan, and theirs send pics fast but barely send little 1 minute videos of things like ducks playing in rain puddles, dog chasing the cat, stuff like that. MY PHONE CAN send video faster, but sucks at pictures.
T-Mobile was supposed to have that rumored 5G LTE thing out by now, we just got upgraded from Nougat 7.1.2 to Oreo 8.0 IN JUNE.
There's also a shortage of emojis other Oreo users have that we don't.
So.
1. How to fix the taking forever to send PICS WITH TEXT in one message? Pic will send up to 5 mintues after the text that would be attached on other devices (how to keep picture and text in one message bubble?)
2. How do I get the vomit emoji, middle finger emoji, duck, and more onto my Oreo OS phone?
3. Is the 5G thing REALLY happening?
T-Mobile support can only do so much, apparently. They're not devs, coders, programmers, computer people. My PC repair husband can do things they can't on the phone, which is sad.

<<Content Not Supported>> Problems Receiving SMS from Verizon Users

I recently purchased a Samsung Vibrant to replace my Nexus One. I was quite happy with it at first, impressed by the beautiful screen and how light the phone was, but was quickly disappointed by the pathetic iPhone-ripping Android version implemented by Samsung.
One problem that is particularly annoying is that I cannot receive long text messages from my boyfriend, a vanilla Droid user on Verizon. After the 180 someodd characters, apparently the text converts to an MMS. On my Nexus, I used to receive these as multiple texts. On the new Vibrant, I get multiple texts all saying "<<Content Not Supported>>".
So what gives? This only happens with Verizon customers that I know of (I also tested from my mother's LG flip phone). Is anyone else having this problem? I have scoured the internet for the past few weeks trying to find a solution but haven't found one.
Any advice would be appreciated! I'm an intermediate to advanced Android user and have been debating rooting the Vibrant. I rooted my Nexus One and voided the warranty, and then found myself among the lucky early buyers with the defective power button. I'd prefer to keep the warranty intact however will do anything to fix this problem.

Galaxy S3 Can't send/receive pictures from other iPhones

Hi everyone,
I just bought a Galaxy S3 this morning (first Android phone ever!) and for some reason, I haven't been able to send/receive any pictures to/from any one of my friends who has an iPhone. I went into At&t earlier tonight and several people without iPhones sent me pictures and received pictures from me with no problems, but everyone with an iPhone couldn't receive my pictures. The techs there told me to try and use the lowest camera resolution and I was able to get one picture to send but still wasn't able to receive any pictures. I'd appreciate all the help I can get :good:

About resolution, your phone should convert a image to MMS standard when sending it.
you could check to see if AT&T have a manual MMS setup guide

I figured the phone should be able to convert the image to the right size if needed but every setting I've tried including the lowest one, I get a little note that say "image too large, compressing". I'll have to look into the manual MMS setup guide. Thank you!
My sister was receives about 50% of the pics I sent her. She's on a windows phone though. Turns out the pics I was sending were too big but after I switched to go SMS pro, she recieved every picture.
My advice is to try other SMS apps

I have had my Galaxy for about 5 months & always been able to send without setting anything. However, this week, it doesn't want to send to any phone or to email addresses either! I'm with ATT as well...
I am hoping someone can come up with a solution for us.
I can't send pics either this week, started 2 days ago, I'm on sprint.

Does Verizon still send out new S4's?

So, I've been having an issue with sending SMS messages on my S3 for awhile, and Verizon determined that it was an MIN collision issue from an S3 I had stolen last fall. Basically, I can't send text messages at all, and it's been this way since February. I tried network reset, top tier tech tickets with VZW, phone reset, ROM wipe, new SIM card, etc. Nothing worked. So Sunday I call, and the guy told me the antennae on the S3 was buggy, and that maybe the new MIN on the network wasn't downloading to the phone right. SO, he tells me that he can send me a new (in the original manufacturer's packaging, not refurbished) S4 as a replacement since I'd tried everything else. Even though it had a locked bootloader, I agree, as I really want my texting back. I received it not an hour ago, and it's a refurbished model, not even in the original f**king box. So, my question is, does Verizon still have new S4 devices to send out? If they do, do I have a valid reason to call and complain since what I was told on the phone, on a recorded call, is different from what I actually received? Thanks in advance for all help

They probably do, but very few amounts. They probably needed more space for the S5. You could call them and complain that a Verizon Rep told you that you would get a new S4 from them. Unless the rep lied, or he didn't say that you would get a "new" S4, Verizon can't really deny your claim.

LG V30 - Does it support SPAM call detection out of the box?

Has anyone noticed if the LG V30 can detect spam calls like a stock Android experience such as a Nexus 6P?
This is a big deal for many users as over the past 6 months spam calls have become a major issue for everyone and my stock android does a good job of alerting me when those spam calls come rolling in. So much so that I don't think I can live without this feature in a new phone. I know LG uses their custom interface which I assume uses a custom dialer, so my fear is that it will not alert me to those irritating spam numbers like my existing Nexus 6P does today.
Well, I'm fairly disappointed in how it handles "Private and Unknown Callers"...I set it to block them and it never does. They always continue to ring through. When I set that up on my GS8 it worked perfect. Not so much on the V30.
My V20 did. No idea about the V30 yet. I only get about 2 phone calls per month. (Everyone I know knows to just text me.)
I'm with AT&T w/my v30 and they have the "Call Protect" app preloaded, which does the same thing as the stock android dialer for identifying telemarketers, etc.
Just wondering how do you turn this on? Weird thing is brought my S6 over to T-mobile. This started to work on my phone. It is not working on my Wife's S6. If I get the V30 I want to make sure this is on.

Multiple Dropped Calls - Galaxy S9 Plus G965F

I love my new S9Plus, but I am getting increasingly frustrated in the number of dropped calls I am having.
It doesn't seem to matter if I have several bars or only one or two - I am dropping calls at least 8 or 9 times a day. Even when I have 4 bars.
TOday at work I had four bars (download speeds of 26MB down on lte) and I dropped two calls while talking to my wife. Problem enough that I dropped the calls but my wife thinks I hung up on her.
I live in the US and am on ATT if that matters. I have used International Variants on my last four phones and never had this call drop problem before. NEVER.
I first wonder if there is something I can do about this? Is this caused by software or hardware in the phone? is there a way to test t his? (it is hard to anticpate when I will drop calls. I have had some calls last over 10 minutes without dropping and other times in the same location - call drop out after 1 minute.
Anyone else having this problem? Your help and input is greatly appreciated.
Am I the only one experiencing dropped calls? Signal Strength seems ok - but while talking calls just drop off - I watched the signal strength meter go away and instead saw a circle with a link thru it - no signal I guess - (I think my call would have dropped had I been on a call) for no apparent reason -
Anyone else having an issue with dropped calls or am I the only one?
I'm also having drop outs on Vodafone UK. Only happens when I've been on the phone for more then 5 mins
I had bad quality in calls, hardly understood what the other person said; changed the sim card, all ok now.

I have the samsung unlocked version and using Verizon on it, have not dropped any calls yet but it seems very static sounding. I love the phone, and only talk to my wife on the phone, everyone else I just text so not a huge issue with me.
To OP, this used to happen to me on S4/S7 when the phone would switch between LTE/WCDMA when suddenly I would get no network with signal disappearing and dropping calls. A new firmware fixed that issue in one case and in other case had to replace the phone itself. Can you try changing to "GSM only" to see if this is related to VOLTE at all or bands changing between LTS<=>WCDMA?
As for the static in call, it could be due to lack of VoLTE support.
I went to the ATT Store and they mentioned that ATT has been doing someting with enhanced calling stuff - said it might effect me - but I am not sure I get enhanced calling because I am not on a branded phone. I went ahead and got a new sim card thinking maybe that might help. Will see what happens over the next few days.
I do appreciate the comments - hope this is not a phone issue
I'm on T-Mobile and I am experiencing it as well, and no it's not the service as my One plus 5t doesn't drop any calls in the same area, same sim, same service. Even the Wifi was weak.
I did a support call with Samsung and they advised me to return it.. I ordered another one to see if that one is any better... I'm hoping... If not that will go back as well.

I just got my s9 with att today and am in the states. I'm having the same issue. I have also noticed it is super delayed in sending images via text as well.
I have the issues on my s9 on Vodafone UK there is also a post in the s9 forums about it
It's seems to be affecting a few people and it seems global
So let's hope a FW update fixes it and that the update come soon ar I will return the handset
First the finger print sensor issues. Now this!
My one week old s9+ gave me trouble with the fingerprint error that got fixed with the update. But now my device is dropping almost every other call. Short or long it doesn't matter. I could make calls with no drops in the same spot using the same sim card on my s7 edge. Heading to Samsung tomorrow. Not quiet happy! Device is unlocked. Bought directly from Samsung and I live in Bahrain.

Returning mine today one thing I expect a phone todo is make calls. Most other things I can wait to be fixed.
Going back to my oneplus 5t which I actually think is a better phone
Unless you are using an AT&T S9+ (or one running AT&T firmware), you will drop calls on AT&T because they won't let your phone use VoLTE and it will try and drop to HSPA , which is being reduced network wise every day.
Getting the phone replaced with a new one.
I was delayed a couple of days because of work but I went to samsung today and they did extensive system tests that did not show anything more than a simple log that says "call drop due to weak network" which is not the case. However, I asked them to manually check it by making calls and keeping in on speaker and 2 out of 3 calls dropped and they got it recorded on camera. Now I'm waiting for my replacement. Hopefully this was a flaw in the first batch or something as my device was one if the first here in the country. Also I almost missed my 15 days replacement time frame. Otherwise they would've fixed it instead. Pheww what a relief. If you are experiencing this issue run to your closest Samsung service center and get it replaced.

Seriously!! What a disappointment after being excited about being one of the first people to own the device. I had 2 serious issues from the day I purchased it. Fingerprint sensor then dropped calls. My replacement device will be ready for pickup on Saturday. If it works perfectly I'm willing to forgive them. If not I'm going to demand my money back ! I did not pay around 1000$ for the device so I can drive to service center 3 times in 13 days and end up using my S7 edge again!

In the UK they offered to allow me to return it for replacement but would take about 20 days to get another handset so I have returned it for refund
I strongly suspect your replacement maybe the same.. I think it's a software issue that will need a FW update
Still I will be getting my cash back have decided to buy a new rifle instead

20 days!?! That's a long long time. I'd take the money like u did. They promised to give me a new device by Saturday so let's see. Otherwise I will take my money back and hold the purchase. Maybe I'll buy a different device altogether. Which sucks cuz I wanted the s9+ since it was rumored last year! Good luck with the rifle. Don't be shooting no Samsung employees lol
