no, still pushing the original one. my sot was almost double in the first year of using, about 6 hrs. now, with no visible change in behaviour or my use, it's about 3 hrs. pisses me off. so, question from the original post is still opened

[Q] Galaxy S2 Power issue - Please Assist

Hey guys,
I'm a new Galaxy S2 owner, since I was able to get a real / near new condition galaxy S2 for cheap I'm having an issue with screen on. I have seen loads of posts, tried loads of things, but haven't been able to get over 4 hours screen time. Now before people say 4 hours is enough, it isn't. I use my phone for everything and I need it to last at least 6 hours with screen time. My standby time if I leave it is around 12 hours. That's it.
Now before you go and say go and get a bigger battery. I have. I have the extended Samsung Galaxy S2 Official 2000 mah battery some people I know have been able to get 5 - 6 hours screen time no problem. I'm lucky to get around 3 hours.
It seems screen related and if I put the screen to auto brightness my battery is halved from the 3 hours I get. I just don't get it. I have tried Stock Samsung Firmware, to The latest and greatest Neat ROM. I was able to get 5 hours and 49 minutes some how, once. But now I can't reach anything like that. It's killing me as it is such a great phone and I don't want to get another stupid bulky battery.
Any ideas on kernels? Different ROM maybe? I want to stick with jelly bean but if people can better screen on time with different ROM's I'd be happy to switch.
Thanks for the quick read, Hope you can help me before I just sell this phone again, Which I don't want to do, it's a great piece of tech

Smartphones are battery hungry fact. But im abit like you where battery life is important.
I came across Neatrom, Im now getting 7hrs screen on time. I also use greenify from google play which stops apps running in the background which helps abit.

Hate to say it but I am on NeatROM, the latest version. And I understand they are battery hungry but my Acsend G300 could easily pull 9 hours of abuse. And this phone has a bigger batter and what I was originally told a more power efficient screen :/

Neatrom lite? Is your battery new? Have you done afew battery cycles? As it takes afew cycles to settle. Power saving mode enabled?I highly doubt you will get 9hr screen on time with the s2.

Yeah it's neatrom lite 5.2, battery was brand new and sealed. Battery cycle as in fully charge, fully discharge? I have done every time since I have got the battery. I have power saving enabled. I would be happy with around 5 hours screen time, That'd be perfect. I use spotify in the car every morning for an hour and in the evening for an hour and two and from work related travel. But apart from spotify I use facebook, whatsapp, but that's mainly it, i don't see why it has to just drain so quickly. I also have green power switching off data when I lock the screen and it re-switches it on every 10 minutes to sync my stuff. That kind of helped. But not a huge deal.

Increasing Charging Speed

Hi guys,
I'm coming from the Oneplus One and that phone used to charge at a speed of 2ma.
Using some apps, I've come to see that the Oneplus X charges only at 1.2ma tops for me.
Is there any kernel which supports 2ma charging? Thanks!
I don't see the charging speed a problem, considering that it's got a lesser capacity battery. Charging times are fast enough that you wouldn't notice any difference. Just keep it down and let it charge.
As for kernels, you could check the developments section
Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
I guess blu spark kernel has fast charging support... Look it up
Mine charge at 1500mAH
Max voltage which can go through is 1800mAh for our phone
0-60%--- Phone charges at 1500mAh(Rapid Charge)
60-90%--Phone charges at 1200mAh
90-100%- 300mAh (Trickle Charge)
This is the case in all phones .. take it nexus 5 ... xiaomi mi4.....One plus one

Bluspark kernel only supports usb fast charge i.e charging is fast when connect to pc or something like that not charger.

I understand why you would want to, but as i know bluspark doesnt "Support" cm for now but it works - try it, in case you always can go back on cm kernel, in using oos 2.2 with bluspark, gives me 4-5 screen time with Wi-Fi always on which is more than enough for me, waiting stable marshmallow ^.^

I've searched a little bit, but no answer.... there's the same issue happening to a redditor but no one could figure it out, could it be the Android OS?!
That's really strange. I'm not getting many hits on it either.
I did find a reference to the number in another XDA thread. A user was having battery drain problems and he posted a Better Battery Stats log. This line showed up:
Google+ was using the Network quite a bit:
10175 (Wifi) (com.google.android.apps.plus.Google+): 394.0 MBytes 41.6%

Is the 10175 number a coincidence? I'm not sure. It might be a broken reference to wifi usage.
Perhaps you should also log your usage using better battery stats and see?

Use battery spy and CPU spy to track background activity.
Also 3:40h of SOT is good depending on a lot of factors.

Battery usage

Hello everybody, here I am for some informations about the battery life of galaxy alpha. I am using an official stock rom 5.0.2 of Samsung. I charge my phone 2 or 3 times per day, but recently I check the battery usage in the setting and I see the wifi seems to be actived all the time even I set it off. Please check the attachment file for screenshot. I just wonder if the problem comes from firmware or I just have to change my battery?

I don't know which firmware I have to use, I'm afraid I will lose all the functions of Samsung. I had flashed the cyanogenmod on my old galaxy note, it's not stable at all. I just hope the Alpha will receive any update (marshmallow) even this may not be happend.

Does it last longer than the 1860 battery? There are cheap ones on eBay that claim to be 2500, but I doubt they last longer than the 1860.

I am on official firmware update from OTA, if I flash the official firmware from sammobile, it's the same thing I doubt... I am in France, if I flash the firmware that come from other countries, I'm afraid it wouldn't run correctly and there's maybe some problems with the network.
Wi-fi location scanning
There are two possibilities for excessive battery consumption with wi-fi. If your phone is set to always scan, then this will still cause the battery to drain as the wi-fi is never really disabled.
Disable this function with 'Settings > Wi-fi > advanced > always keep wi-fi on > never' the advanced settings are under the little 3dot menu at the top right of the wi-fi settings screen.
The other option may be that Google's location services may be causing a drain by using wi-fi to geolocate you.
Try disabling location services for a day and see how it pans out for you.
If neither of these help then I'm all out.
Good luck

Hi guys.
My pocophone F1 developed bad battery life and I found it had a bulge in its battery and I replaced the battery. Now even with the new battery I'm only getting 3.5 hours of screen in time. With moderate use. No gaming.

Are you sure the battery is original?
Go to my POCO F1 Ultimate Collection & Guides thread, at Battery Tips and do Battery Calibration. Then check your Battery Health Capacity and post a screenshot with the results.
PS: If you are on stock ROM I recommend you to move on custom ROM. MIUI drain your Battery fast.
OK I will do that. Meanwhile I have noted that the battery drains very fast when the screen is on. (I'm using a low brightness setting) like 1% every 5 minutes. Any suggestions?
And "Power consumed by other apps" is always high

Oh. I am still using the original one. 27 months old, 73% capacity. Since enabling bypass charging only 56 battery cycles used up in the last 9 months. Otherwise I think I would have been forced to look into a third-party replacement by now considering the very heavy usage. Official battery is exorbitantly priced.
I have been using mine since Feb 14 2019 and that's over 34months. Just few 2days ago I noticed drastic battery drain although often it's on heavy use. Now I can't restart my phone and boot up except when I plug it to the charger because it boots up. I am on stock ROM? Right now I don't mind installing custom ROM it will fix the problem.

It appears the battery is shot and needs to be replaced. If rooted you check the battery capacity from the built-in kernel profile. Actually I revoked root access from Device Info HW app and it was still showing battery capacity as derived from the kernel profile so maybe it doesn't require root? Also recently MIUI had the option to show battery capacity and cycle count without root...

Install Device Info HW app and check under Battery section.
Mines at 2912mAh.
Accubattery is another option and in F1 I found it to be pretty accurate. But it requires several charging sessions for the estimate.
Here's the bit about MIUI https://www.xiaomist.com/2020/02/so-you-can-check-battery-status-of-your.html?m=1

Now I can't do shi.t without plugging in my charger. It just keeps boot looping on reboot. It won't boot up the screen until/unless the charger is plugged. I am thinking of factory reset but I am scared it may fail to load up the boot and cause the phone to be bricked.

Looks like w/o root it's not possible to read the data from the kernel profile after all. Xiaomi seems to have removed the necessary stuff later from MIUI. That article is out of date.
I would refrain from flashing MIUI at this stage. Have you unlocked the bootloader? Almost every report of irreversible bootloop seems to involve MIUI.

Since I have been using the phone, I haven't done/tweak a thing. So no, I haven't unlocked the bootloader. I would like to do anything right now if that's what I need to escape unexpected expenses. I would like to unlock, root and install custom ROM since MIUI is ****ed

If you have never unlocked the bootloader of any Xiaomi device before I guess you need to create an account and apply for unlocking permission. For Poco devices it's a 3 day wait period but in my case and several others besides it was near instant. I had last gone through this over 2 years ago so I am not sure if anything has changed or not. Do keep in mind that unlocking the bootloader will wipe out out the internal storage so make backups beforehand as required.
In the meantime install Accubattery. For quicker estimate a few 10-100% cycles will suffice. Discharging lower might cause random shutdowns etc. if it's the battery at fault.

Oh ok. Thanks. How do I apply for unlocking bootloader? It's been over 8 years I did one last. Kindly guide me. And yes, I have installed accubattery.
