new s8 plus user - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S8+ Questions & Answers

Just picked up the s8 plus for sprint.
Is there a root method that works? Just looking to remove bloat apps.

None that ive seen, but you can agruee the s8 plus dont need to be rooted because of how good it got, so you can uninstall most, others u can turn off or reset to factory and never open

Have you installed the newest OTA? That should get rid of root, and then you can probably just do a factory reset from within?
i unrooted i didnt know viperboy updated his root tooled and i removed everything looks like stock again
I just returned one to BB yesterday (due to non-working GPS) and they really didn't check much. They turned it on and verified that it was working, all in the span of 1-2 minutes. I doubt they're really looking to see if it was rooted or not.

alright, thanks unrooted just to be safe
The average customer service monkey at Best Buy isn't even going to know how to root a tablet, let alone how to check. Do a quick factory reset and you should be good. When I returned mine they almost didn't even look in the box to make sure everything was there. Had the manager not randomly come by the rep wouldnt even had opened the box.

mine is in pristine condition still have the plastic on the charger dont think they will give me a problem ha
to completely uninstall overclock..just hook up to computer that you had vipercontrol mod on and uninstall it. if you unrooted already, not sure if it'll let you uninstall since you more than likely need SU permissions.

Security Certificates

I rooted my s4 a while ago and wanted it back to stock got a stock firmware now when I go into the security settings on my s4 and click on trusted credentials it brings up a list with a ton of stuff I've never heard of. Talked to verizon Tech and they say that my phone is still rooted any one know how to get rid of all those things because my phone is also acting strange and I think that is part of the reason any help would be great. Thanx ZSchoone

Use odin to completely remove root and go back to out-of-the-box stock. Just make sure to use the correct firmware to avoid setting the knox warranty flag. Search google or xda for the odin tar you require.

[Q] Galaxy s5 Active AT&T Unroot, Returning to store for a regular s5... help please?

[Q] Galaxy s5 Active AT&T Unroot, Returning to store for a regular s5... help please?
First off, Just wanted to say hello and thanks to all you pros out there helping out us noobs... This is my second rooted phone, had a rooted s3 and bricked it trying to install Cyanogenmod rom, but this time ive done my homework and sucessfully towelrooted, use Supersu, safestrap (which is awesome btw!) deleted all the bloatware w/ titanium backup, and use xposed framework! So fun
But Im thinking of returning my active for a regular s5 because it keeps turning on in my pocket and it has the same exact waterproofing as the regular s5, salesman said it was water proof to 6 ft instead of the 3ft for the s5 which i now know is bull****...
Anyways, I need to uninstall xpose and safestrap, then restore bloatware with titanium backup, unfix write 2 sd card file thing (forget the name of it) then all i need to do is unroot through Supersu and do a factory reset and it should be back to stock, right?
I checked and knox is still 0x0 so AT&T should take it back still and trade me a regular s5? Thats all i need to do? Got mine 4 days ago and i think i have 14 days to exchange phones.
Second question, once I have the regular s5, can I use my safestrap backup and the titanium backup apps and system restore data? I know the active has some different bloatware and has no fingerprint scanner and has that actie button so I think the answer is no. But just wanted to double check with the pros
Thanks for any help.
One more question...
Does anyone know anyway, like through an xposed module or something, to add a Mobile Data toggle in the notification bar?
I heard lots of modules that can do that dont work good with touchwiz for 4.4.2 or atleast for Galaxy s5 AT&T...
Thats like the only think like I need to do and ill be super stoked on my modded s5. Only have 2 gb of data per month so i need to keep an eye on my mobilr data but need a quick way to turn it on to get any group or mms texts...
Thanks for any help/ comments...
Sorry if i posted these in the wrong place, first time poster here

Help.... please

Hi, I've got an INTEX Aqua Prime 3G smartphone. At first everything seemed to be fine, but two weeks after buying it popup ads started to show up and apps began to install themselves (Activitys and such......). As I've read, it seems the rom comes with malware itself, so it's not like I fked it up, it was already a mess from the beginning....
Things are: I rooted the phone cause I thought maybe I could get rid of the system apps that were provoking this. I deleted a lot of apps just to keep having the same problems with popup ads and self-installed apps. It does not go away.....
So I thought I could install a new ROM. Here comes the problem... I can't seem to find any rom for this phone (along with any info... it's like it doesn't exist for some reason).
Could I install a rom which is designed for other smartphone but with the same processor as mine? I'm just super confused, super tired and I don't know what else to do with all this.

Thank you so much por replying. I've seen the video but my problem is not about not knowing how to flash it. There are no roms for my phone it seems.... so I was wondering if I could install one that it's not made specifically for it... also I can't risk bricking it as it's the only phone I have, so I just really don't know what to do
It seems like I lost the money

Don't think so. Probably a slim chance to be able to port, but you still need system files from your rom, and a custom rom from a phone with same resolution and cpu. Might be a chance, (I don't know how much you messed up your /system, but maybe still have the files you need)... Search Google for 'port rom xda'...

Question New G Play Owner with questions

Hey everybody. Just getting my new 2021 G Play up and running. For some reason, it seems slow as hell. Specs wise, it should be significantly faster than it is. I'm experiencing delays when typing, changing apps, and just the lag time from when you click a button until the screen changes and you can go onto the next task sucks.
Anybody have any tips? What might be causing the issue? I got the 3 gig RAM version, which should still be plenty. I feel like it's being artificially slowed by software and it would be nice to fix that problem.

I don't have facebook or anything else thats a big resource hog.
I bought mine unlocked directly from Motorola a few weeks ago, I assume it should have the retail US rom?

Yep, it's the retail rom. I am in the exact same boat as you, bought it a few weeks ago from Target US since I needed a decent unlocked phone to use with a high data prepaid sim. So far this thing is the best phone I've ever had. I'll share a few things I've learned/done since I've unlocked and rooted mine if you would like.
My device was reasonably quick out of the box and I noticed little if any lag. But I usually buy 50 dollar phones from walmart so I might not have the most reliable opinion about that. By the way the Facebook APK and a few facebook services reside on the phone, and I can't recall but they might even be installed out of the box but just deactivated. You'd be surprised how much crap is on this thing that sits idly by waiting for a compatible carrier SIM to give the phone the Go-Ahead to install.
So yeah, the tip I would suggest is to unlock the bootloader, install magisk and get root, then use some magisk modules and ADB scripts to start cleaning out the stuff you don't want. You'll be glad you did. I stripped out a lot of verizon installed services, amazon/facebook APKs, and all the motorola OEM apps I wasn't interested in, which was basically all of them. The phone is butter smooth. I have cloudflare DNS and ad aware installed, in addition to a couple of other modules.
I used to root devices years ago and took a break from around 2015 till now. Magisk is a slightly different experience than the way it used to be but for the most part it's dead simple and very flexible. On top of that, with the right flash tools and a copy of your firmware these devices seem nearly unbrickable. I've already soft bricked the thing a couple of times and it was just a matter of a quick magisk reflash and finangling some settings. Kept the same OS install, didn't lose anything.
Good luck! Let me know if you need any help.
Well this is good info, thanks. To be fair, this is about the slowest phone I've ever had. I'm coming from a OnePlus 6 thats been a constant headache too for the past couple years (everytime I wanted to make an outbound call I had to reboot the POS). I picked up the OnePlus second hand. I just can't stomach these $1k phone prices, and this has nearly the same specs as most of the $500 phones.
yeah, for me it was getting rid of the facebook.apk that came packaged. As soon as I did that it was a new phone. Didn't even need to bother with magisk this go around.

Disabling the 3 Facebook system apps also works.
