Flip View Cover stock weather app not updating automatically - Huawei Mate 10 Questions & Answers

Recently got the Flip View Cover for my Mate 10 Pro. However the stock weather app is not updating automatically like it should and thus the temperature shows values from previous manual refresh in the flip cover window. I found Weather, Weather Data Service and Weather Widget from the Apps view in settings and have given these all permissions they ask.
I'm suspecting Huawei battery optimization is killing the weather app while screen is off but there is no option to manage it manually for the stock weather app.
Any help would be appreciated.

for me too, the temperature is only updating when you enable GPS

How do I get the Weather widget to update the current location, it manually lists it, but not update the location with the weather
Don't understand, but if you want to enable the Auto Refresh feature then you can do it under Settings, You can also Enable your current location by ticking it, and also if you have more than one city added then you could Enable Auto Scrolling feature which will show all the cities in a cyclic order on the widget in an interval of 8-9 seconds.
Regards.

sorry if post was confusing, on my older HTC phones, whenever it updated the weather, it diplayed my Current location as per GPS, this one only keeps displaying home location.
No takers?

Automatic location change in widget AND lockscreen -solved-

How can u force a location change on thus thing? Although I have refreshed the weather it still shows a weather of a different city I was many hours ago.
sent with SGS3
EDIT: before you go down and read the last page, as 99% of the posts are irrelevant, what i had to do in the interim for both of these is this:
1) go to the search cities through the widget and re-add the current location screen which immediately found my location
2) once this was done, the lockscreen was still stuck on the previous location, and this was solved by a restart.
Unfortunately forcing an update on the weather, did not change the location. Turning on the GPS did not either. Therefore im not sure if the update frequency changes this would allow for more accurate location service, or its a small bug that samsung needs to look into.

Weather not automatically updating?

First Samsung phone so maybe this is a Samsung thing. But, on my HTc phones my clock/weather widget would always update with current location and weather details. With the SIII I have to manually tap into it, then refresh it. At that point it updates the weather, but not location. Work in downtown Dallas and live in one of the burbs and the widget doesn't update location at same time as weather.
What am I missing?
Thanks.
You have to set the refresh manually since the default is to never auto refresh. Just tap the weather widget and go into settings, you'll see a spot there to set the frequency of the refresh. Used to HTC phones also, so I was wondering why the weather would never refresh heh.

[Q] Using a tablet as kitchen display - app control

I have a cheap 7" tablet that I'd like to setup as a kitchen display. This is how I imagine using it:
1) At 6AM, tablet wakes up display, turn off display at 9AM.
2) AM: display traffic map, similar to the Inrix app.
3) AM: display weather for today
4) At 5PM: tablet wakes up display
5) PM: display weather data for next few days
You get the idea. I want some control over when the display wakes up. I'd also like it to perhaps switch apps like a demo unit - for example, show the weather on the display for 5 seconds, then switch to the traffic map for 30 seconds, then switch back to weather.
I've consider using just the desktop, and simply squeeze a weather widget and a google maps traffic widget in the same screen. But, I'd like the solution to be more extensible. So, later if I decide to display another piece of info, I can just time share the screen.
I think I can use Tasker to turn the display on/off at set times. But, I don't know of a way to make the tablet rotate between two or three different apps.
I might also use the tablet as a recipe book. So, I'd like the weather/traffic display feature to kick in automatically when the tablet stops being used.

Mate 10 pro and protected apps

Please where is this function? And battery optimization permission.... Are same things ? Thank
From what I've been able to determine, there is no 'protected apps' menu option on Emui 8.
The place to adjust them is in - Settings - Battery - Launch. Personally I find Huawei's management way too agressive, so I turned off managing all automatically. Then in batch manually set everything to allowed and let Android sort it out. It doesn't seem to have made any difference to my battery life, but at least most notifications seem to work now. You could manually set only the ones you want to allow to run in the background though and it might help.
From settings - battery I also went into the settings icon top right and turned off the 'power intensive prompt' option because it was annoying - Google maps is SUPPOSED to be using frequent positioning, and my podcast app isn't much use if it isn't running in the background!
The whole power management seems to be designed for a phone with a tiny battery, where micro management is needed - but on a phone with the largest battery out of any flagship it seems needlessly aggressive....
Edit: It is also possible in the running apps/recent apps screen to click the lock icon on a program which is supposed to prevent Android from closing that app - but not sure how effective that is on EMUI.
Hello to all. I have installed in huawei mate 10 pro and I would like to use an application to notify gmail emails and whatsapp messages on always on display. use led blinker application that works properly when the phone is charging, while when it is without cable the notifications arrive only when I turn on the screen. I can think that it is a protection of consumption but I have activated all possibilities. could someone tell me what I could activate to solve this problem? thank you
This does exist. It's in the recent apps page (bottom left/right button, depending on your settings).
If you press the lock icon on an app it should "lock" the app from automatically closing.
It also prevents that app closing when you tap the recycle bin icon in the recent apps page.
This is exactly what I need, but I am running EMUI 9 on mate 10 pro and I cannot find this "lock"!! Yet I am sure I have seen it at some point in time... X-(
I just got the Android Pie/EMUI 9 upgrade last week and I found the lock by accident. When viewing your apps in the recents view, find the app you want to lock and drag it down towards the trash icon. You should now see the lock icon for that app at the top, and it should be protected from clearing recents. Clicking the lock or dragging it down again should toggle the lock.
On recent apps list, slide down the app window to lock - lock pad on top. Slide again to unlock
