How to force install an .apk file - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok, so i got this free Samsung J2 Pro (SM-250F) from a company where i worked at. It has Knox Mobile Enrollment or something installed in it. I wanted to install .apk file but i can't give the phone permission to install application from unknown sources (the setting is grayed out).
I've tried flashing my phone with stock ROM but it's still didn't worked (the flashing worked but the Knox still there).
So do i have other way to force install the application?
Or the alternative. Is there a store apps inside Play Store that i can install?
Thank you.

Cannot install Google-related services

Hi all,
I have a ZTE S2004 from China that does not have the usual pre-installed Google apps. I had e-mailed the manufacturer (both the North American and Chinese customer service) and was notified that because the phone is from China, it does not support Google services.
I recently found out about and downloaded KingRoot v4.5 and Root Explorer v3.3.5 to try and install Google APKs as described in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1874285. I installed the APKs , then changed the permissions to align with the other APK files, restarted the phone and then tried to install the apps via the APKS. They all said installation successful, but the apps crash and do not work, with the error message reading "Unforunately [program] has stopped".
Thanks.

Most likely because that thread is 3 years old. The apps are very outdated. Would try the same steps with the updated version of the Google apps.

Sorry I forgot to mention that the phone is using Android version 4.4.4 and I read that some of the APKs only supported 5.0+. I am unsure how to proceed.

Should just need the Play Store and Google Services Framework installed to get started. With 4.4, they should be placed into /system/priv-app with the correct permissions. 0644 I believe. Once placed there, permissions set, and rebooted, you should be able to access the store and download the rest of the stuff you need. I'd just grab them from a 4.4 Gapps package. They will be slightly outdated, but should be easily updatable.

I have encountered a problem with the Play Store installation. I had downloaded a newer version of Google Play Store and have tried to uninstall it, but it still remains and I fear it is blocking the 4.4.4 version. I cannot remove it by using the default removal option or even root explorer. I attempted to reset the phone but that has not worked either.
The installation for Google Services Framework was successful, but when I tried to use the Google Play Store, it would open and subsequently close immediately, no error message showing and the process itself still running.
So you've deleted it with Root Explorer and it came back after reboot or there was an error when trying to remove it?

I am unsure which custom ROMs are available, as I have been unable to find any for my phone model, S2004. The most common ones I've seen are the ZTE Blade and ZTE Warp.

Then you can do one thing, download firmware of your device but of some other country. It may work for you.

Thanks,

Can't use PlayStore anymore after flashing a rom

Hi,
I recently bought a le max 2 from GB with Gapps and multi-language and everything was working perfectly, but i wanted to update the phone, so i decided to install the stock chinese rom (eui 5.9.021s) through the stock recovery. Now, when I try to open the PlayStore it always stops and closes. Furthermore almost all my Gapps (YouTube, gmail, play games, play music...) seems to be installed (when I go to the options they result as installed) but I can't see them anywhere. I have already tried to uninstall and re-install it, but I have this problem as well.
Can someone help me please?
That is the problem of the Le Max 2. You have to go to app management, uninstall all the problematic apps manually and then reinstall them again.
Thanks for your answer!
Your method works for most of gapps (for example if I uninstall gmail and then install it again its icon will appear) but it's not the same for PlayStore... I tried to uninstall and re-install it but it doesn't work(there's its icon but i can't open it). I thought it could be a problem of Google play services but i can't even uninstall it.
Another strange thing I noticed is that when I click on the PlayStore it immediately pops up a message that says that PlayStore stopped working but it keps running in the background and it closes just when I Press a button ("ok" or "cancel") of the message that doesn't allow me to use it.
Have you got any advice for me about this issue?
I recommend to install via custom recovery, eg. TRWP.
Download your gapps package here:
http://opengapps.org
After than, flash it via custom recovery.
100% working method!

That's the problem of the phone, it wouldn't let some apps, particularly the system apps, to be uninstalled completely. When you try to reinstall the apps on top of the existing one, problem arises. Now, I am unable to get the IR Remote Control working again. If your phone is completely stock ROM and has not yet been rooted, back up all your apps and data, do a factory reset and reinstall them. If it still doesn't work, you might have to reinstall the apps via TWRP as rqzor99 suggested.
Thank you amowagou and razor 99 for the help you are giving me.
My phone has never been rooted and i have not installed any custom recovery (what's more this was the First time I tried to flash a ROM .
Probably if i do a factory reset, Google play services and the PlayStore will be deleted from my phone because the stock chinese ROM doesn't include them and then I could make completely new installation of them as amowagou said. Probably I'll try this solution because it allows me to have them without having to modify my phone.
As well I also apreciated the advice of razor.
(Obviously if someone else has other advises for me they are welcome!
I'll let you know if following amowagou's advice the problem will be solved
If you have stock ROM (your Chinese ROM) without Chinese market, called Lestore - there isnt another option, you have to flash gapps via custom recovery. Be careful with choosing package - arm or arm64 - TWRP tells you if you have wrong one and it will dont let you install it, no worries.
If you have Lestore in your stock ROM, just find gapps and install it.
Thats it

Difficult Play Store problem

// I fixed it. If you have the same problem visit my guide: [Guide] How to fix any broken Play store
Hello everyone reading this!
I hope you can help me with my problem.
My problem is the following thing:
I was having some problems with my play store so i wanted to reinstall it.
So uninstalled Google Play Store with root but the problem is that i couldn't install it again.
(And i only make backups of my boot partition because i don't have so much space to backup data in twrp.)
When i try to install play store again with the latest apk of it then it just crashes. I also tried installing it as system by moving it to /system/app with the correct permissions but still not working. And i also tried it on /system/priv-app but it just disappears there.
I found out that if i use a old version of the play store (9.8.07) then it doesn't crash right away. But i still cannot use it properly. It crashes when trying to install something.
I also found out that if i try to uninstall something with this old version then it doesn't crash right away but it says "uninstalling" forever.
So i think it may be that play store didn't get the permissions that it needs?
I tried so many things but i just don't know how i can fix it. I don't want to do a factory reset or something like that.
Please help me. I just want my good old play store back.
Edit:
I can't even use YouTube. It doesn't allow me to use it without play store. This is much worse than I thought it would be.
My paid apps, substratum, everything i paid for is just broken now.

Install APK Themes Android Pie 9.0

Hi Everyone,
So apparently after updating my XA2 Ultra to android 9.0 I am unable to install the themes I used
via APK. I read on the internet that this is something Sony is disabling for some reason.
Does anyone know a way to install a theme using the APK file and not from the Google Pay store?
Every time I try to Install them It just tells me that it couldn't be install and that's it.
Any help will be appreciate it.
Thanks everyone.

Hi,
I used to have the same problem, for *some* APKs even on 8.0. What i did (not sure what caused the problem, actually) was:
1) Enable unknown sources via dev. menu
2) Disable the Play Protect and built-in antivirus(es), e.g. AVG
3) Disable app checking from Google options (this might be tricky, because the app itself didn't show me this option, bit it came up eventually, don't remember how, i think when you try to install the .apk via ES or some other file explorer.)
Now it gives me the "App not installed" or "Unable to install" only when i try to update an app that was not originally installed from the Play Store, but (for example Aptoide or other Black Market store) it can be remedied by simply uninstalling the old app and install the new one.
Hope this helps. Good luck!

I need some help installing an app within VMOS 1.0.49 that is not in play store

I want to be very clear that I have no problem paying for apps, supporting developers and that sort of thing. I recently installs VMOS to spoof my location in an app.. a dating app that is free, and also for free the app allows you to browse users in other parts of the world.
However I wondered if I could do the same thing with Tinder.
The issue I've ran into is I cannot get Tinder to install within VMOS.
So my main/actual phone is a Samsung Galaxy Note 10 + running android 9.
And the fake/vmos is 1.0.49
I uninstalled tinder on my main phone, went to google and found a website where I could download tinder 11.6.0 apkā€¦ but I needed something called SAI (split apk installer)
So I downloaded the apk, then opened the files within SAI and tinder installed and works without a problem....
However when I go to my fake phone and download the same files from the same sources tinder does not install and gives an error pretty much saying "failed to install- app not installed- Application is incompatible with this device"
I am obviously not sure what the exact reason is which is why I'm here.
When I tell it I want more details as to why it did not install I get "java.lang.Exception: application is incompatible with this device at com.aefyr.sai.installer2.impl.rootless.RootlessSaiPiBroadcastReceiver.onReceive(RootlessSaiPiBroadcastReceiver.java:57)
at android.app.LoadedApk$ReceiverDispatcher
$Args.run(LoadedApk.java:908)
at
android.os.Handler.handleCallback(Handler.java:739) at android.os.Handler.dispatchMessage(Handler.java:95)
at android.os.Looper.loop(Looper.java:135)
at android .os.HandlerThread.run(HandlerThread.java:61)
Obviously that doesn't really tell me anything in particular.. because I don't have much programming/script knowledge.
But it makes me feel there are protections in place to keep people from doing what I'm trying to do.
So if anyone is willing to help that would be awesome!
I'm unable to get the app to install via the play store.. because it doesn't even show up there by searching directly.
But when I follow a link to bring up the app within the play store it just pretty much says it's not compatible.
So is it because of protections being in place... something wrong with my vmos environment or what?
When I tried installing it on fake phone I had root turned off along with developer options also turned off.
I had install apps from unknown sources turned on.
I'm not sure what other info to provide...
I can get the same apk to work on the real phone and install..
Just unable to get it to install on vmos.
I tried File Transportation in vmos and that didn't work either... it times out or whatever.
So in general... whether it be tinder or whatever app.. how do you get something to install when play store says incompatible and file trapsportation does not work?
Maybe the apk file I have is in fact incompatible with something within vmos??
I tried some stuff within xxxxx but was still unable to get the app I mentioned earlier to install. Not really sure what needs modified/patched or whatever.
any ideas please? how does someone get an app to install within vmos that doesn't seem to want to?
Working
Hi, install aptoide the install tinder version 9.8.0 it works for me.

What I usually do is use the root permissions in vmos to force install the apk as a system app through lucky patcher. Before doing this I would reccomend making sure that the version you are using is compatible with the vmos android os version you are running before attempting and that the package isn't considered corrupted. Also please note that when installing an apk as a system app it becomes difficult to uninstall. If you'd want to remove the icon then you would need to disable the package also through lucky patcher. I'm just throwing the idea out there and I'm not sure this solution would work for any other so hopefully it'd work for you.
Has anyone had any luck getting vmos running on an android 9 device??
If so pls let me know so I don't waste too much time trying I tried the standard one and it didn't work so I'm downloading the pro version which will take a long time
