Best place to buy a Poco[phone] F1 for European import? - Xiaomi Poco F1 Questions & Answers

I've seen it on SunSky for about €300 including 2-4 day delivery to Ireland with DHL.
Seems to be an international version but I'm not sure it would have Play out of the box (a very temporary issue!).
I've never used SunSky and their reviews are a bit variable. I guess paying through PayPal would offer some protection.
Can anyone recommend them or any better option?
It must and shall be mine!

Actually, it looks like it'll get an EU launch in a few days, so that should simplify things
Can't really imagine it being sold in Ireland for €280, but we'll soon see....

yeah it would probably be better to buy it from one of those chinese/indian companies and just wait a bit longer for delivery.

Definitely agree... Aint gettin one myself, user of pixie 2xl but really impressed with finally a close to flagship device for a fraction of the price.. what they should've done is get it released for 300 euro here... And smack everyone in the face

Like I say, you can get it through the above link delivered through DHL in 2-4 days for €300. That's not bad at all, I reckon

I'm looking to get this phone as soon as possible. The cheapest price I could find was also on SunSky for £246, excluding shipping charges. Kimovil is a great website for finding the best prices on smartphones. It would be wise to keep checking there over the next couple of weeks until the phone surfaces in other stores.

Ah, you make a good point...
Just worked out the customs duty, VAT and handling fee - together they add about €100 ?

I bought two separate phones from China and wasn't required to pay customs duty to the UK on either of them. The first phone was a ZUK Z2 that I bought on Banggood and the second was a ZTE Axon 7 that came from AliExpress. It only took 5 days for the latter to arrive and that was with the standard free shipping option.

I know quite a lot of people in the UK who have bought phones from China and not had to pay customs duty. Maybe it just depends on the country. Both of the websites I bought from marked the device as an 'MP3 Player' on the customs deceleration label and put the value at about $17 USD. They also tick the checkbox that says 'Gift' since I think customs duty doesn't apply to presents.
Providing you choose the slowest free delivery option (eg. China Post) you shouldn't have too much trouble. The problem comes when you pick an express service such as DHL since those are more prone to customs checks.

Hi all,
I bought mine today on Sunsky I took the jump lol...what you need to know is this..It's not 3/4 days delivery to Ireland or UK is 3/4 lead time as in them getting the phone ready to ship out...So still expect the usual 2/3 weeks before it's delivered....that's why your paying 280 and not 400 patience lads
I'm experienced in buying things from China and if you want to avoid paying customs and taxes always use Post NL ! Never use DHL never! as they collect taxes and keep it in there bank account to make interest and then at the end of the year they pay all the taxes and customs due to the state. DHL make a lot of money in doing this...when they see China or anywhere else outside the EU they will take the customs and taxes due and sometimes they will even charge you for doing it...this is fact!
On Sunsky Post NL is €9 which is good coming from China and avoiding customs and taxes.
The phone is nearly sold out on flipkart in India and probably will soon on Sunsky.
I would say that Aliexpress will have a lot of these phones in a few weeks and they might be even cheaper than 280 .
Use kimovil to compare prices there, I see bangood have it there for 350 so that's a big jump from 280.
I recently bought a Huawei honor v10 ...I only got it Saturday...I'm going to sell it because the bootloader can not be unlocked and can't be rooted. This Poco Phone looks very promising development wise so I'm looking forward to getting it in a few weeks
Happy Poco hunting

I believe it's important to note that the version on offer on Sunsky is the "lowest" end of the pack being 6GB + 64GB. I have more interest in the middle section with 128GB or even their top tier with 256GB; depending on its price. I'll wait until there are some more mainstream purchase channels. I'm really excited about this device though!

Since the Poco F1 has an microSD card slot there is really no need to go for the bigger options. Just buy a 64gb microSD for 20$. Also its easier to flash custom roms with a microSD (files like picture, videos etc can stay on the SD and internal storage can be formated)

So true, 6g ram is enough for 2018 and more and as for storage 64 is a lot as it is...SD card is the best thing for flashing and a lot of people have a SD card already...

@mili2110 Ah yes, excellent point. I'm so used to not having that feature on OnePlus One, I didn't even consider an sdcard slot @Damoedge is very right as well. Thanks to the fabulous RAM management of Android there is absolutely no need for 8GB today.
Still, as I currently own my OPO nearly 4 years; those 8GB do appeal to me as I'll probably still be using them in 2022

I agree that microSD is good for flashing; but I prefer internal storage since it is faster in most cases, more reliable, less messy (everything in one place, rather than two!) and can be encrypted without any hassle. I know on most phones there's an option to encrypt microSD as part of the internal storage, but I could never get my head around it on the Axon 7.
For example; once the SD card is encrypted, how do you copy files to it since it disappears from all of your file managers? I realise it's supposed to be 'combined' with your internal storage but where is the freedom in choose what files go where? I would rather just spend the extra money and save myself a massive headache.

If the bleeding edge pixel 3 is about to launch with 4gb and 64gb internal storage without an SD slot, I think I might scrape by with a 6/64gb Poco with the same processor and pop in my 128gb super fast SD card formatted as adoptable storage (for a lot less than half the price)

I also bought one on SunSky yesterday Thursday 23th http://bit.ly/PocoF1SunSky for about 300 EUR via DHL.
Today chatted with their support for customize the Customs declaration invoice, and they telled me that will start receiving units on Tuesday 28th, on black, at the moment. Worlwide launch will be the day before, Monday 27th.
In the meanwhile, ordered several TPUs and tempered glasses from AE:

How to buy Moto Z in Mexico? It's one of best markets...

I've seen Mexico is one of the best international markets for Moto Z: large choice of models and accessories, 64 GB models, interesting "bundles" and great prices... :fingers-crossed:
So I'm interested in buying it from Mexico (to Italy...), since European 32 GB versions aren't good for my needs...
Problem is that none of the Mexican online shop ship outside Mexico, since of Motorola directives...
If it was US I would have used systems like Viabox, US TO GO, etc. to have it reshipped from a "fake address" to Italy, BUT I was unable to find anything similar from Mexico...
Somebody does have hints for me to find a good solution?
I had the exact same question, and someone pointed me to Parcl. It's pretty much P2P parcel forwarding. There are only 3 forwarders in Mexico right now who will forward to Italy, and none of them has any delivered shipments yet (Parcl is still in beta, so it's pretty new). You have to decide whether you trust Parcl and their registered forwarders. If you do and this works, you can almost purchase anything from anywhere in the world!

Thanx a lot... I will surely give a look to it...
I'm trying to see if something is possible by Mailboxes etc., a packaging and delivery company which is present in Mexico too.... anyone has already tested them this way?

Well... I gave a look at Parcl. It's surely interesting but...
- As you already seen only three forwarders reship from Mexico...
- of them, only two can compile customs documents
- of the two remaining, only one has logged in during last month...
- none of them have already a single feedback...
Would we try him? You first?

I won't, as I was only looking to import because Moto Z & Z Play weren't released in Australia last week. They were just released this week, and I most likely will purchase locally. Price isn't a big issue for me, local warranty is more important.
I won't be too bothered by the fact that the user hasn't logged in to Parcl for a month. After all, it's in beta and those people are ordinary person doing this as a side job. If I were doing the same thing, I won't login as well unless I was notified by the system that there is a potential job waiting.
It's still a risk, just like when airbnb and Uber when they started, and to some lesser extend, even now.

It's not a price matters for me too.... it's more about available versions.
In Europe they are selling only 32 GB versions, only single SIM and with only black version of MODs... at TOP prices of course!
About warranty... well, no more than 5 minutes after I would have in my hands it will be with unlocked bootloader.... so... bye bye warranty!

Anyway, if I decide this way, I'll be very happy to pay A BOX of beers to you if you made me this service... :highfive:
I'll decide what to do after my trip in Malaysia at the end of October. I've seen there is no Motorola.my, BUT I think they should sell it in Malaysia too... and it could be the Indian/Thai/Singapore version...
Then eventually I feel free to contact you or the Australian pal, OK? :fingers-crossed:

yes, it was only for two days, they have something named "venta nocturna" where you can buy using any payment and you have very good discounts. Also, here in mexico we have our "black friday" (buen fin) where for 4 days we have several promos and pretty good deals, from november 13 to 16, you can wait and see if any of the promos are suitable for you and of course, if you want I can sell you via ebay and paypal payment, I have no problem at all. here are the list of all the stores that will have discounts on "el buen fin" http://promociondescuentos.com/el-buen-fin-tiendas-participantes/
PS. I bought mine on Amazon on pre-sale and was $13.000, never saw it at $11,000, and also I had a $500 discount because the day of release.

I have a lot of phones in my history... htc 10, mate 8, note 5, recent and iphone 6 plus. Moto z for me is very sexy phone, motomods is a plus, and i like vanilla android, great battery adding external moto mod battery...
My average points
Htc 10 = 10 (very quality phone, the best sound on phone and the jack por headphones, sense wow)
Mate 8 = 7 (great phone, quality phone, very bad software)
Note 5 = 7 (great balance phone, a lot of garbage apps, need more vanilla android)
Iphone 6 plus = 9 (quality phone no doubt, balanced in every aspect... Ur phone and Apple owns you, think for u)
Moto z = 9.5 (no perfect physical disign and battery size...)

Moving Up

I'm such 'a pain in the neck', within one week I owed two Note8 phones, sent them back and finally now: I ordered a spankin' brand new 9+! See, once I designated the money some ten days ago, for that first, new, N8 for $650 during Amazon Prime I was the happiest dog on the face of Earth. Then came a big disappointment, that phone would not pass Google's integrity, was uncertified and had very spotty BT, couldn't play music in my car. It went back and I ordered the N8 DS International for which I'm still waiting 4 days on, no show. I'm in contact w/ Amazon, told them about the deceptive trackin'/emails the '3 party' vendor is sending to me since. I mean, a classic 'buyers beware' situation. They advertised that phone for $620 under AmazonPrime partnership as a new phone, blah, blah. So I told Amazon now it's their responsibility if they're allowing 3 party people to do such a diversions. They agreed, I will get my money back and when the phone shows up, I'd just send it back right away. And I will get a one month of free Prime for my trouble. (Late delivery)
Now, "the happy days are here again", I ordered the S9+ unlocked, (has the lte band 71) directly from Samsung: 128GB(only$50 over the 64GB:laugh:
What helped me to make this move was this promotion-deal: Chromebook 3 11.6” (32GB Storage, 4GB RAM) for 29.99, so am hoping to sell it in orig. pckge on eBay for at least $150-170 to smooth over the $950 price for the S9+(incl.tax). Got free MicroSDXC EVO Plus Memory Card w/ Adapter 128GB with it, too.
So, decisions -decisions, I think I've made a good one, I usually stay with one phone for several years. I'll be seeing you around our Galaxy!
No matter how bad it gets, I'll NEVER give up a Note for a S+ device. I can not give up my S-Pen.
I'm sorry to hear about the difficulty you went through. Had I been in your shoes, I'd have traded in my Note8 for a Note1 before going to a S9+

I really wanted that N8 but got frustrated with amazon vendors making you believe that you're buying a "new" phone, as I tried twice, and then it turns out to be a lemon(x2). Official Samsung price was still around $950 for the N8 and with that am't of bucks to part with I had to do some reasoning in my head.
For S9+, 128GB, next gen Soc, better camera(didn't know for sure about that then - buy it really is great) and a few other things, the sticker price was $890(+$60tax) including about $250 of 'perks': a 128GB redEvo SD and 32GB Chromebook. I put the chromebook on swappa and it took only 2 days to sell it for $170, shipped it out earlier this morning and my final, total price (state tax included) for S9+ w/ 128GB SD ended up @ $840
I'd agree with your reasoning, but I know that I'd soon want to get something with an S-Pen.

Where did you buy your 8GB / 256GB with Band 20 in the UK?

I am trying to get a hold of the 8gb / 256gb version of the K20 Pro with band 20 within the UK but it has been a complete nightmare.
I tried from Aliexpress which lost the phone and egobalexpress which has been 'processing' for almost two weeks now.
Did people just acquire their phones from these stores or are there more reliable sellers available?
I know this version of he phone is imported from china but are there any stores where they have stock readily available so you wont have to wait for weeks to months after which you still may not receive your order?
The reliable sellers don't have any in stock, same as the aliexpress and eglobal types, but the difference is they won't let you place an order.
Your eglobal order will get cancelled as soon as you challenge them on despatch.

how long did it say processing for with your order?
Dont forget officially this is not released in the UK only the 6/128 version. I seen some selling it on eBay. They claim to be UK stock but I wont hold my breath. I don't think you would get better performance with an 8gb version, and I think its not worth it unless you would need the 256 storage. I personally went for the 6\128 version purely because the price difference, and because the EU variant would have support in the UK. No sure about the global version support though. GL any way .
I got mine from wondamobile, can't remember how long it took but it was about a week.
It was a 8/256 Hong Kong global with UK style plug.
Given the choice I'd probably just go with the 128 option, copying large amounts of data over after a ROM flash on USB 2 connection speeds takes forever ?

Where to buy from?

Let's get a list of places where this will be selling including importing.
WondaMobile expecting to ship by Oct 15th. This is with 256gb rom £759 which is slightly cheaper than UK pricing with double storage. https://www.wondamobile.com/sony-xperia-5-ii-8gb-ram-256gb-sim-free-unlocked.html
Otto (and maybe others?) offers a promotion product (Sony »WF-1000XM3 True Noise Cancelling«) additional to the mobile: https://www.otto.de/p/sony-xperia-5...2-mp-kamera-1225041412#variationId=1225041413
It is already available here in Sweden since a few days ago for ca 865€ bundled with WH1000XM3 headphones.
I am waiting for the Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro but this is tempting too. I could buy it, sell the headphones and get some of the cash back so phone will be closer to my budget but I am not sure if I wanna do that since the front camera is same as on Xperia 1 II and that one was so crappy according to user reviews so what if this one is crappy too. Also no 30w or faster charging like on Chinese brand phones.
Any other places selling the 256gb model?
Be good to know if there is any way to get hold of the elusive grey model here in the UK. Not interested in black or blue, but the overseas sites like Expansys only have black blue or pink. Grey seems to be available in Europe, but not UK - unless Vodafone get it as an exclusive colour which they normally do with Xperias.
Vodafone always last to the party adding Xperias to their site though which is annoying.

Yes, exactly. Poor front camera and also missing wireless charging / face unlock are the real issues that bugs me on such a nice phone for US$950. Still can't understand why Sony used such a bad Samsung (!) sensor on their top tier "Photo Pro" smartphone. That's ridiculous!

I don't think so unfortunately.
I think all Sony deals are country specific.
Belsimpel had a 300€ cashback offer on Xperia 1 II so could get the phone for ca 735€ after cashback but only if you have a NL address.
Same with this offer, you need Swedish address.
I preordered the Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro for 650€. They are giving away Xiaomi Mi Essential Electric Scooter worth ca 300€ for free if you pre order before 21st October.
For me that's a better deal since I don't need headphones and I find the scooter more useful.

For any US buyers I highly suggest getting it from WondaMobile. I ordered mine last Wednesday 10/21/20 and selected free shipping. It was listed as 9-12 business days, but I just got it yesterday 10/26/20. Even shipping from Hong Kong it got here that fast. WondaMobile pays import taxes if you are outside of Europe, and you get more than one color, 5G support, 256gb. I ordered the blue model and it worked with my existing TMobile sim out of the box. It cost me 955 USD, 5 dollar premium to Sony's direct pricing the US, except you the more colors, 256gb, and you get it before December. Sadly no bonus goodies like some EU sellers, but it is easily the best way to get your hands on one in the US.

Does unlock mean the bootloader is also unlocked?
Btw, "... and install essential apps" and "Our software preparation exceeds that of all competitors." sounds fishy comming from an HK (China) reseller
bol.com has quite cheap prices

Question Where to buy without a mark-up?

Anyone know where to get these without a mark-up? Asus doesn't seem to have the 16GB/256GB. The $800 + tax is already blowing my budget, so I can't afford the mark-up to buy from an Amazon reseller.
If there is only Asus, does anyone have a line on when the only model worth getting (since there is no sd card slot) might be available again?
Thank you.

Try this one. It's the same page I bought my launch one from. Still seems solid, IMO.
EDIT: This is the USA version (version C)
There is 11.11 sale on Aliexpress, 3 days left, and it's about $760 for 8/256 model.

Make sure if you buy on Amazon, the seller is mobile advanced. Other sellers are using the listing to push non us models
Mobile Advance has the 8/256GB available for $709 + tax: https://smile.amazon.com/ASUS-ZenFo...G-BK/dp/B0BBQ9MYR6?ref_=ast_sto_dp&th=1&psc=1 (which is a better price than Asus' website.)
Spending that much, it isn't too much more to just get the additional 8GB (16GB). While Android 12 & 13 don't 'need' 16GB, every version needs better hardware.
The only 16/256 version is NGP and they want $100 bonus. At that price you are in the same territory as the ROG phones (which are just beasts, albeit impressive beasts).
Hopefully they will get some more of them out of China soon. Hard with all of the Covid closures there.
