[Rooted Devices] Samsung S3 Apps for Android 9 - Google Pixel 2 XL Themes, Apps, and Mods

Hey everyone!
I just noticed whenever I updated my Pixel to Android 9 and rooted it with Magisk that the PlayStore said my phone wasn't compatible to download the Galaxy Wearable App anymore. Kinda odd because before I wasn't rooted and it allowed me to download it and install it perfectly. Anyways, My wife has a Pixel 2 XL as well and hers isn't rooted so I was able to download it on her Pixel and make a backup of the APKs to make it work on my Pixel. I thought that I might not be the only one having a Pixel 2 XL with a Samsung S3 Frontier. Below you will find the APKs from my Google Drive.
Enjoy!
Galaxy Wearable (Main App): [Click here to download]
Gear S Plugin (You'll need that one to complete the setup): [Click here to download]
Samsung Accessory Service: You are able to download that one from the PlayStore (Go figure...): [Click here to download it from the PlayStore]

Weird.
I'm rooted and it worked.

Do you have the LTE version? (Technically it should matter LTE or not lol). Every time I went on the PlayStore it kept saying my device wasn't compatible. Go figure why...
Thanks,

Anyway to spoof my device to a Note 9 or Galaxy Tab S4?

Obviously I want that sick galaxy skin for fortnite. I know there is a way to make your device show up as something different but does that require root? It doesn't have to be permanent, just active while I turn on fortnite.
You can spoof your phone but it does require root

That probably won't work as you won't have access to the Galaxy Apps store

ofc there is a way to do it and it's quite easy but I'm not going to tell you because it's a literal 30 second google search away, you didn't need to create a thread
I might a lot of hate for bunping this but i need answers.

Just did this and installed the fortnite installer but it said device not supported
Fortnite for Android is built in ARM64 (armV8) code however NoxPlayer or any other emulator runs on armeabi-v7a (armV7) architecture so it is incompatible.
In order to spoof the device to make it look like something else you have to root the device and edit the build.prop file.
It is also true that you can find this using a Google Search. I would suggest those who have rooted and wish to spoof a device do some reading on what they need to do. It isn't that hard but to find what lines that need to be edited (and with what to use for the edit) in the build.prop will depend on what you want to spoof the device as.
There isn't any other way to make this happen without having rooted the phone. In the case of Snapdraon Galaxy S9+ owners there is no root method so you can't spoof your phone to be another. For Exynos Galaxy S9+ users follow the tutorials on the forum.
Keep in mind that if your wanting to spoof the device just for a skin you also have the risk of tripping the knox counter and all the related consequences.
to my understanding the skin was only available to preorders anyways

[No Root] Samsung Experience 8.1 on S6/edge

Hey guys. I know maybe some of you guys already did that years ago and that I am pretty late with it right now but I havent seen a thread where this was mentioned in (maybe I was just too lazy to look everywhere) but I recently made a video on how to get the Samsung Experience 8.1 Features on the S6/edge without any root or custom rom. Originally, we only got Experience 8.0, according to Wikipedia, however it isnt even mentioned in the Device Info page (if you ask me, they should have waited a few more weeks and should have given us Android 7.1.1 directly like the J5 2016 or SE 8.1 with 7.0 like the S5 Neo).
However, thanks to API 24 / Android 7.0, we are able to get nearly 80% of the Samsung Experience 8.1 Features, by updating the stock apps and TouchWiz Launcher manually. We can even get Bixby Home with that method. Things you will not be able to change are the general look of the UI (Lockscreen, Settings, QuickPanel), however you can install AOD Display, which will then be shown in the Settings. S6 edge+/Note 5 users will also benefit more from this, as they already got some S8 functions inside their firmware like changing Screen resolution or being able to activate Boostmode. The tutorial should be applicable to every Samsung device that runs Android 7.0 (A-2016 series/J-2016 series)

No. Please only use the versions I linked in the video. If you install a more recent version of TouchWiz/Bixby, they might start to crash. You can try though

Share a bit taste of Samsung Experience of my rooted S6 using stock rom for you guys. :good:

I love the tablet, bought two of the 4GB/64GB for $149 each directly from Samsung site.
Well worth the money, I got them for gaming and watching videos, web surfing, really great tablets.

Impreza thank you for making me rest.....I've been surfing online finding answers if that tablet can be rooted...please let me know if you guys found more info..thank you
Bought this thinking it was an upgrade from my Galaxy tab a 8.0 but since it's one ui core it's missing many features. Trying to trade it in now but it's past the 15 days. There's no smart view to mirror to any tv easily, theres no network file manager in my files (can't access G drive or any others).
Just make sure you know what you're buying. It's not lite because of being smaller than A7, it's a stripped down OS and the features can't be installed afterwards (have tried many apks). I didn't want a big tablet, wanted a mid size tablet with upgraded CPU.

I agree with that. If you are sure you know what you're buying, the experience of the A7 Lite isn't bad. One UI Core is the same stripped down OS in the regular A7 (Snapdragon 662) and in the A7 Lite. CPU works very fluid if you tweak some settings (default One UI animations are awfully slow). Battery lasts A LOT (8,5-9 hours SOT). Smart View was removed and changed in all One UI devices with the upgrade to Android 11/One UI 3.0 (regular and Core), and it was replaced with Google Cast native screen mirroring (ergo Chromecast).
Use Solid Explorer or Amaze if you want to access network file places. It works well on my side.
Despite being a Mediatek tablet, you wont't find anything MTK-related in the tablet. Samsung has its software very well masked. And I think that, in Helio P22T, Mediatek vulnerabilities have been fixed with security monthly patches.

I guess that MTK-su has been fixed on Android 11... But I think that I could boot something with DSU Loader, which is available...

Just wanted to chime in here and say that I successfully rooted the tablet using the same method for the Lite as the regular A7 using THIS GUIDE. Obviously it tripped Knox but I needed it rooted for my use case. One note is that when you download the stock firmware with an application like Samsung Firmware Downloader, make sure you choose the correct Model and Region. These can be found in the settings on the tablet.
Is it possible to enable Google Discover for default launcher?
I bought Galaxy Tab A7 Lite LTE SM-T225 3/32GB and it works quite nice. Small and good device. Would be cool to see on it clean Android or LineageOS (fingers crossed). There is not too many ~8 inch tablets today with the latest Android version.

I've been working on porting TWRP for AOSP Android 11 to this device but have run into some roadblocks.
I currently have TWRP running but touch is not working and I can't seem to get Data R/W with the current tools available. It's possible it's an error in my build or maybe a workflow problem.
If anyone out there with more experience is doing the same or wants to help me sort some things out, please let me know.
I purchased the SM-T225 LTE 4/64GB model, a good device, but there was a problem on the latest T225XXU1AUH5 & UI3 firmware, specifically with a modem... after the end of the call, the mobile network disappears, and after rebooting Baseband Unknown Flashing does not help, only resetting the data helps, but before the next call... The device had Root rights, but is now installed stock firmware and blocked the bootloader, but the problem remains... At the same time, if you install the old modem UDA,UE3,UF2 , it works without problems... Has anyone encountered anything like this?
My only disappointment is that knox is included. I came from tab A 8.0 2019 which has no knox

Bought one earlier today for a second screen for browsing while I'm gaming on the laptop. Got way more than I expected for such a cheap price. Debloated and tweaked, I really can't complain.

General CalyxOS beta for Pixel 6 is now available!

I'm not the developer of this rom obviously, but the Calyx team recently released CalyxOs for the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro in Beta version.
Let's just use this thread to give feedbacks, opinions about this ROM and how it performs on your device!

installing,,,,thanks
I flashed CalyxOS on my Pixel 2XL a couple weeks ago and I'm liking it. I think I can finally dump Google Voice, too, so Calyx on P6 might be my next big move.
I flashed my pixel 6. I have to say the installation was fast and really easy ! I have one problem though, I can't install any apk. The weird part is that I can install app with fdroid and aurora but not from apk files. If anyone knows what I can do tell me
I haven't got around to trying it yet. Will test myself and report back. What about from adb? (adb install ...)

I solved my problem. First the file explorer does not have install privilege by default so I gave it the oermission. Then it was duckduckgo browser fault. It removes the extension part, I had to rename the file with an ".apk" at the end.
It might help someone in the future.

Do you have to root your phone to install CalyxOS?
Also, is there a list of popular apps that don't work MicroG?

root isn't necessary, just an unlocked bootloader and working USB drivers.
I'm not aware of a list but it would be interesting to see one. Narrowing your question to specific apps might fetch a better answer. At one time I ran /e/ Foundations's ROM and never came across app barriers I thought mattered for a de-googled phone.
Is Calyx OS good for my usage ?
I'm using a lot of google apps (photos, maps, gmail (not in push), drive) but I don't want to give out all my information to Google constantly...

update : found what i need from aurora store and work on calyx v. 3.1.1
I flashed CalyxOS on Friday with MicroG and I have to say I'm not missing anything so far apart from Google Pay. All my other apps work as they should.
The only problem is some of my most used apps are activated via in app purchases which isn't detected by the Aurora Store, so I've contacted the devs to see if there is a way to activate it manually.
All in all I'm really happy with Calyx so far.
Hi, can someone help me go back to stock rom after installing calyxos .
Update after about a month of CalyxOS and one OTA update. Really happy. Was adamant that I would go with GrapheneOS but somehow COS looked good out of the box and fit my use case real well (no microg). Fdroid, Aurora, Signal all pre loaded for me.
