The IMEI is a Digital Serial number and it would be illegal to change it - Even if it was possible ?
Sent from my SM-G965W ??

There is only 2 possible reasons for that to happen with EE and all of the others now days in UK.
1: stolen or lost
If stolen the give it back
If lost and u found it give it back
2: It's on contract and the buyer didn't pay it at least the 1st 6 months of there agreement as for its class as fraud and they will block it.
So if u got it of ebay or something compliant, its your contract and you didn't pay it pay, or if u got it of some one u know get back to him and get your money back.
Hope it helps

Changing Carriers won't help & as I already said - The IMEI is the Digital Serial number and even if you could change (You CANNOT) It would be ILLEGAL.
Find the person who sold you the phone & get your money back.

[Q] blocked imei ?

hi every one
i bought a sgs2 from ebay last week , but somthing wrong with the phone
i can not mske any call or receive calls , and after along search in the net i think that the imei code is blocked.
that means :
1. the phone is stolen
or
2. The owner of the phone said to the company that his phone is stole in order tom cell the old one and they will give him a new one ...
what can i do ?
You did enter a sim card correct? Have you tried another sim card?
If the phone is stolen, contact the seller on ebay about it first. You should be able to get your money back as long as you return the phone. Otherwise, you just have a expensive paper weight.

NO, absolutely not.
IMEI is unique to one specific phone. It is, in fact, illegal for a consumer to change a device IMEI.
So based on your gross mis-interpretation here, you should really go back and try to re-evaluate the conclusions you came to in post #1, and start with the question "why can you not make or receive calls?"
EDIT to add: Did it occur to you that the phone may be SIM locked to a network that isn't yours?

There are far more than only three possible providers that the phone could be locked to.

XDA is not allowed to be involved in illegal activities for obvious reasons .
Your claim should be against the seller ebay or pay pal .

If the phone is SIM locked to a different network than the SIM currently inserted, it will come up with a prompt for the unlock code when it boots. The symptom of a SIM lock is not that it won't register on a network.
If the phone is indeed SIM locked it can be fixed by following this guide.
It is also possible to change the IMEI although this is much more difficult and may be illegal in some jurisdictions. There is a range of "TEST" IMEI numbers that mobile phone manufacturers use, these are generally safe to use and work on most networks.

According to what I read once, demo units do not have the cellular chip, so they can't use cellular network.
That would also explain why there is no IMEI sticker.

You cannot recover the EFS even if you know the IMEI-number. Only Samsung can, since it's encrypted for security reasons.

They don't normally have any cellular network, so that if someone were to steal it from a shop, it would be relatively useless to them, they can't really sell it on and they can't keep it to be used as their daily phone, wherever you got it from, you're better off sending it back, all that phone is right now is the android equivalent to an iPod touch.
Sorry, dude.

If it is a demo unit,, go to Samsung service centre and get quite on installing the missing part, they may have a protocol for this situation or you may get a kind guy there....take proof of purchase too

Same Problem here....
Two points
One phones are Demo units in which case the Demo Units thread may have an answer but i doubt it as it would be pretty stupid to supply your dealers with a unit that can be magically turned on .
Two they are not demo units and with a missing IMEI and no IMEI sticker somewhere along the line they have been stolen .
In both cases go back to the seller if legitimate sales .
So the question for both posters is lets see the point of sale you bought from .

and get quite on installing the missing part

That most certainly means another motherboard and maybe antenna which doesn't come cheap.
Maybe this might help a little bit http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=29461812
Confirmed. It is a Demo unit, no cellular chip inside.

Easy method to restore imei number.

Hello everyone,
My name is Samrina, my brother has broken my S3 it does not work any-more. He told network that he lost his phone, but he only lost his sim, and (PAY as you go) and they asked for imei number and he gave them the imei number for my S3. HE is so stupid so now my phone does not work, and he called them back and they will not take the imei off the block list, and also Samsung will not fix this because it is rooted and warranty is void. Now, the only other option is to send the phone to another country and they said it will work their and that they can also unlock it, they want £150 to unlock it by fixing the Imei number.
I don't know much about mobile phones but I already paid £500 when I bought the phone, now it is useless. Can anyone help? or is the only option to make sale in another country? stupid! they will not take off black list my imei number for a mistake. so unfair.

I have done this, they will not change it. They said they want written letter from mobile company that blocked it, but the mobile company are so lame, they said they can't do anything about it, and will not answer further correspondence. And that I need to contact GSM imei blocking some nonsense. It is not illegal to fix your own imei number, also I will fix it in another country where it will be legal.
Just tell me one, thing if it is possible or not to fix the imei number with current tools? or is this impossible?

What number would you be changing your imei to? Once you change the imei to anything other than what is on your phone's sticker is illegal. Since your brother reported the phone missing it's better he goes and solves the issue. This isn't something you can do on the phone he needs to do it in person.
No one on xda will help anyone with changing their imei.

No it's not legal anywhere what you can do is, go to consumer court and file in a complain and send a copy of it to both your service provider and samsung. It will be solved as soon as possible or if you are lucky you can get a renumeration too

I would imagine it is possible to change an IMEI but if someone over here finds out you have had it changed it looks to anyone like you have stolen the phone, the police will check the sticker IMEI and see that phone has been reported lost, they will then check the IMEI the software is reporting and see that it is different.
Open and closed case you have a phone reported lost or stolen, with a falsified IMEI you look guilty and you will get arrested and have to prove it is your phone (contract doesn't count because that is tied to the sim)
Discussion of illegal IMEI cloning is banned on XDA OP please close this post .

"Assuming" the story is legit its your brothers fcukup so give him your old phone and make him buy you a replacement. If he refuses kick his ass!!!! If you decide to let him off out of brotherly love put it down to experience.

Fact it is illegal to change imei numbers on your phone. It has to be the one on the sticker, if your story is true then all you have to do is go to the police station along with your proof of recipt and tell them you found your phone. They will make a call and unblock your phone in a matter of minutes.
I remember my sister left her handbag in nandos once here in the uk she had a Samsung d900i at the time. Me and my sister just the left the store and she remembered she left her handbag and went in to get it it was gone. cleaning lady said she didn't see it. So we went and reported it o the police. She had her contract phone credit cards bank cards cash. and sentimental stuff in it.
Anyway we reported the imei number to them and they blocked the imei on the phone. Next day we get a call that the cleaner lady had my sisters bag we went to pick up her bag and all was good the lady got the sack. We came home and the phone was blocked so i rang the company they couldn't do **** for me. So we took the recipt and the phone to the police station including the box and said a couple of days ago my sisters phone was stolen we got it back here is my proof. They made a call and instantly it was unblocked. That was 6 years ago. Maybe it is still the same.
If your story is legit this should work.

[Q] Blacklisted S3, what to do, abroad?

So I got an S3, and I found it that it was Blacklisted, (this is a UK version) so I thought that it won't work in UK, but will it work in USA if it was blacklisted on Vodaphone. The phone is unlocked. I'm asking whether a) The 'blacklisting' applies over the sea (I've heard some phones don't even have IMEI's there) and b) does the phone have CMDA capabilities, or is it just GSM??

Probably in that case the device is property of your carrier (at least until your contract expires) and it should be considered stolen goods in legal terms.
So trying to evade the law will not only attract trouble but helping you do it is against Xda policy.
How about just paying the bills? Contract is contract...

Is there any way to change Xperia Z2 IMEI?

To re-iterate we will not even discuss such things on XDA, as it is illegal where XDA is hosted and could lead to charges or the site being taken down, sorry!

As others have stated, it is illegal to change your IMEI in most countries and as far as we are aware, illegal to discuss on XDA. If it is blocked by a provider where you are from, why not contact them and find out what the issue is? If the provider cannot help, contact Sony and see if they can possibly remove the blacklisting for you or on your behalf.
Edit: I hope you have proof of purchase. You say you purchased from a third party but without any proof you are going to have a real rough time convincing either the provider or Sony to unblock the IMEI.
