Hi Everyone! Huawei P20 was just launched today, looking at the specs --- I can't see much difference besides the Camera, do you think its possible to port its camera and so called "Master AI"?

Why only the camera? It should be possible to port over all of the software.
I think that Huawei should really provide an upgrade to 8.1 and all of the new software functionality. Pretty horrible to release a flagship phone and 6 months later simply forget about it.

****few months .... ya but in a few months android 9 will be released and maybe we will get it in april 2019! I don't like Huawei updates nor sammy's ... i really hope nokia will release a proper flagship soon... android one is the way....
Mate 9 never got EMUI 5.1 / Android 7.1 that came out with P10 and P10 Pro
Relax, this is the first phone that gets android 8.1+ NNAPI integration and not just a simple 8.1 like nokia and essential did. Basically as the guy said above with the leaks, all of the new features of the P20 are coming to us and that takes some time to implement. Granted our brand new mate 10 pro aka huawei's flagship feels obsolate, outdated and lacking in hardware compared to the P20 series(speakers, wireless charge, bigger sensor, laser) but that will soon change in some part with android 8.1.. Hold your wallets and do patiense like we all do

How do you know all the new features of the P20 will come to the Mate 10?

We have internal beta builds of 8.1 for the Mate 10 (non-Pro Chinese version) so they are being developed.
That being said, with the Mate 9 we also had internal builds of EMUI 5.1, but it was never released.
Most likely time to get the enhancements publicly is when Android P rolls out.

Thanks. So it's not 'all the new features' of the P20. It's just some extra AI scenes. He did not confirm face unlock, super slow motion, AIS, etc etc

Ofc its NOT ALL THE FEATURES of the P20, because some of them are hardware dependent, which Mate 10 Pro don`t have

P10/P10Plus never got Android 7.1, I don't know what world you live in, but in our world neither P10 Pro nor ANY Huawei P/Mate with OEM Android 7.1 exists.

Actually NONE of the P20 AI features is hardware dependent compared to Mate 10/Pro, AIS is a software solution, it just needed to account for OIS which isn't hard. P20 Pro is a different story.

Camera was 'ported' (it works simply by replacing hwcamera2 in /product/app/) right after firmware was leaked.

Hello, I was interested flashing the port however I'm kinda stuck whether if I root my phone (includes unlocking bootloader) will I still be able to receive and flash updates thru the updates checker? Or every time update is installed, I'll have to reroot it again. Recently came from note 3, flashing and doing things in Huawei are kinda different. I bricked my Note 3 several times and used odin tons of times so makes me think twice before doing things bec not much of stock firmware is available for flashing

We'll see Android P (9) long before Samsung so
Don't count on it at least on US version. Huawei isn't really supporting this model, hence the rare updates. Maybe the 20 will get more attention.

My friends chinese mate 10 pro already received 8.1 yet im still waiting on faceunlock and nightmode from optus australia. Lesson learnt never buy a phone from carrier

A real damn shame Huawei are not supporting the Mate 10 better.
It seems the P20 has gotten most of the attention and they are focusing more on that. I take
it the P20 sold more than the Mate 10 series line.
IMO Huawei never really supported the Mate 10 series great.

Mate 10 is getting more support than Mate 9. Same region.
Used to get security updates every 3 to 4 months, now every month.
Got no new features on Mate 9 until Oreo arrived in January 2018, Mate 10 has received face unlock and updated night shot (with 8.1, 960 fps slow mo, new camera UI, GPU Turbo etc promised).
Support is DEFINITELY better this time round.

I agree, nothin to complain about in general. The region delays are a problem though because it seems like it could be avoided easily.

As far as I know yes. I have read people using it on the emui9 Beta.
Emui 9 official build is available in firmware finder for c636 and fh. Soon it will be available for other regions.

It is available for the C605 model as well - but it is not yet approved for installation (I have the C605 model).

They are not true.
They are all based on a single picture released by Huawei. Journalistic misinterpretation or corporate misrepresentation - call it whatever you want, but you aren't getting EMUI 9 today or any time soon.
What really is happening is a roll-out of the final code of the Chinese build of EMUI 9 to the current members of the closed beta test. No final public roll-out, certainly no international roll-out of any kind today.
EMUI 9 is coming, it'll come to you. If you're lucky by the end of the year, but there's a decent possiblity of will come later than that.

The P30 Pro new variant will have it in box.
Exisiting devices will get it stating with the P30 series around late October to early November. Mate 20 series would be in December.
They will slowly roll it out as they will be waiting to see if bugs exist before a global release.
Makes sense to do it in stages
Well if I do get a new Huawei again I'll make sure its a P series as they get updates first, I think the Mate series is treaty badly by Huawei

As stated by the text in the lower right corner this is when the beta for each device will start. So the final version will be released about month later.
It states P30 November and the Mate 20 Pro December, the Mate series is king of the hill for a few months until the P series comes out

That's my point, its king of the hill for a few months which means the real King is the P series
Keep in mind this is when it will be released for the Mate 20 Pro not when you'll get it. I am still stuck on July security patch for example. So could be January / Feb before I actually get it.
What if, after installing the Emui 10 it takes away some useful features and reduce the the camera quality ?
December is an affordable month to get Mate Pro 30 !? Is this a ploy !? Just wondering

Hope it is the plan. My brother's P20 always got updates before my M20P in Canada.
I'll expect it mid next year when ee has finished messing with it and allows it through lol

I think this is due to the wildly differing names for the Mi Note 10 line across the globe.
In Europe for example there is only the Mi Note 10 Lite as well as the Mi Note 10.
In other places they are named (accordingly) Mi Note 10 and Mi Note 10 Pro (I think for the Chinese market the Pro version only comes in the 256GB variant).
From what I can gather this is the reason for the confusion. The update should be coming next month.
Because the schedule you saw is from Xiaomi Indonesia. And Mi Note 10 Lite was never launched in Indonesia

Previous devices and even last year devices get it faster than a month old device.
I don't understand, how the release of software is done and on what basis.

I dont understand people crying over updates, whats the big difference if you get it 1month later.. its not like the update is gonna make your device 2x better, its still the same phone, with same capabilities..Maybe some bug fixes, or maybe even introduction of new bugs.. If you want fastest updates, you buy flagships. You didnt buy flagship, you bought a lite version of midrange phone that isnt even available worldwide. Just wait and stop crying
