Increasing scrolling smoothness - Xiaomi Poco F1 Questions & Answers

Been using Pocophone F1 for the past few days and really enjoying it. One thing I have noticed is that while scrolling apps such as Facebook or Instagram, the scrolling smoothness doesn't seem buttery smooth. It's not laggy by any means, just seems a bit slowed down. Is it an issue with the animation speed or something? Can I do something to increase scrolling smoothness or speed? Thank you in advance.

Increase animation rate from 1 to 1.5 in devloper options

I think that's the touch latency. Its higher as compared to other phones. I don't own the phone, I'm simply saying this because of the many videos I've seen, on 60fps on youtube, and I could notice higher latency in PUBG mainly, where the aim lags behind the finger and it is quite noticeable.
I think its a hardware issue and cannot be fixed with a software update.

Not sure about that but it is a UI settings thing. By default the animations are set to 1X. Turning them off in Developer settings should be enough.

For those who updated ICS - are there any Performance gains

I see threads on the issue of Glitches that some have had with ICS update. But nothing that really covers the noticeable performance benefits ... if any when updated.
Was hoping we could keep this topic focused on Benefits of ICS update over Honeycomb that are noticeable.
i.e. Better Benchmarks, Faster web browsing or page loading, .pdf rendering, gaming, etc.
Thanks
Everything you mentioned is better for me. don't have any of the issues some are experiencing with Ics. its a small number of people thats having issues.
yes ICS is way smoother. lag when just flipping through screens is gone, web page is faster. Some apps are more buggy (ex: youtube) but that is bc they probably need ics update.
Sent from my Transformer Prime TF201 using xda premium
A lot faster and smoother switching from one app to another, opening multitasking sidebar, opening app drawer, switching home screens, etc
Cf bench showed overall 10% gain in scores across the board
Much smoother overall for me.
The lag in screen to screen transitions has been greatly improved. Also key input lag from the keyboard dock is not noticeable for me anymore.
To me it a little smoother but that could be a placebo, but the browser is way faster in my opinion. Pages almos load instanly where in honecomb the progress bar we gert about to 75% and then just sit there for what seemed an enternity sometimes. This has not happened in ics
It has a small performance gain but to be honest, it wasn't exactly slow before so you are not going to see any huge difference.
I agree with all above. Much faster web browsing and no more force closes/freezing the whole prime when the page locks (happened a few times to me on HC). Homescreen transitions are smooth and slick, camera is MUCH better and more fun to use. The list goes on, plus there are additional features that ICS introduces that are really cool. No brainer to upgrade for sure.
Much faster, smoother, and lag-free.
One thing i haven't seen anyone mention is the boot time is 1/3 as long as it was on HC.
Web browsing much improved for load time, scrolling, pinch to zoom...across the board.
App store is smoother
Gestures.swipes,scrolls....all improved.
Support for more video containers natively
Camera app...greatly improved. 1080p video is lag free.
That's just the tip of the ice cream...all of the core gapps are enhanced not just the browser.
Love it!

Overall speed

Would you say that the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge is "fast" in day-to-day use? A higher rating indicates that you think the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge exhibits fantastic performance. Like, is it as fast as your tears when you watch The Titanic?
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
No issue whatsoever with performance. Not one sign of lag or stutter yet.
fastest smartphone i've used....
Yeah super fast coming from note 4 which I was happy with. Super duper fast
Works great for my daily things, and even the few games I play.
Size and spec of the s7 edge makes it my daily device and it works perfectly so far.
Coming from ip6s+, but also had before that N6p,N5 and s6 edge. So I compare it to good devices and not some low end device..

its fast, dunno how good it is compared with other newer phones, but everything runs smooth, games are awesome!
Setting everything was super fast, did a reboot and charging up to take a break, coming from a Note 4, which was reasonably fast, but this thing has zero lag so far.
GS7
this is a great phone, you can get the performance that you want and easily to use :good:
Snappiness of this phone has put my Note 4 to shame, particularly with switching to and from camera to gallery.
The sd card max transfer speeds are not up to par for 2016. Everything else is great.
Galaxy S7 edge is really fast, I do all multi tasking stuff like running multiple apps, playing game, downloading and auto updates parallely and its still runs with full speed. like all other samsung mobiles S7 edge runs with high speed.
No lag for me yet.
I can easily get mine to freeze up or lag.

Same here. There is microlag when scrolling all throughout Touchwiz. For the most part its smooth and seamless but for everyone saying they haven't seen lag, you probably have.
There is just a strong chance that it wasn't sustained lag which makes it easy to be dismissive of it.
It is especially noticeable when coming from the N6P (chalking this up to stock android not being bloated)

Agreed, I have seen micro lag, but nothing to irritating. It got much better when I disabled everything (everything that is dis-ableable anyhow) from Samsung and Verizon as always. Also as always once its rooted we can disable the rest and ti will fly. Its a shame that we have to do that, but it is what it is. I would do anything for an S7 Edge with stock Android... Better yet, a Nexus Edge
Hi, and what about the most performance demanding games? I use these expensive phones as portable consoles and if I invest 800€ into phone, which is price of computer, I expect every single game on google play smooth at 50 fps. But on some ytb videos I have seen some microshutter and fps drops for example in Dead trigger 2, Asphalt 8 or GTA san andreas. Dont know which version it was, but I prefer adreno 530 gpu which is not on market in my country :/ . I actually dont care very much about fast app launching/loadings or appdrawer, but for me most important is FPS when game is already loaded. Or can I lower res to 1080p to eliminate any FPS issue? Did anyone compared gaming exynos vs snapdragon? (not benchmarks, real gaming FPS) .
PS: Please keep hate and comments like phone is not for gaming away, Im listening it all the time. But i am heavy gamer at any platform and if I wanted phone for calls and sms I could stick with my old nokia 3310. But thanks for any possible useful info from owners of this phone
Only time I had lag was with Chrome. I'm using the Samsung browser now and it's fast. The update seems like it made my phone fast not that it was slow. I'm happy. Oh I'm using Nova so that probably helps.
most of it is fast except slight lag once in awhile. fps is slower compare to my oneplus 2
some games are laggier than on my Sony Z3, sometimes the transitions lag as well
Great speed

Horrendous gaming experience. Is my ROG phone faulty?

Hey guys,
I own a Razer Phone 1 and thought upgrading to ROG was a no brainer, faster chipset and oled panel (though 90hz).
My ROG phone is so choppy and laggy compared to my RP1, to the stage I thought my phone was faulty. The games I tried testing were guns of boom, nba 2k, where reaction times and ability to control matters to some degree. I troubleshooted a bit and made sure X mode was on, cleared all the ram, 90hz setting was selected, and I turned on the gaming information and was averaing 50fps which is great for a phone! So why was it so choppy and laggy? I ran the same games on RP1 and reduced the screen to 90hz and ran the same games. The RP1 was perfect, all the choppy frames and lag were gone. So if both ROG and RP1 were running 90hz, and ROG should be having higher frame rates (845 vs 835), then is it because of ROG's oled panel?
Is there anyone else having this problem?
I'll try to upload a video to show the problem? It's a bit discouraging that the latest gaming phone performs worse in the real-world (not benchmark) than an older generation product.

I love the phone but i do think it's over hyped. Coming from HTC U11+ (835 vs 845 snapdragon) i don't think the differences are big in terms of processor power. My guess the software experience of the phone isn't polished yet to it's potential that's why i believe the next few updates will make the experience more smooth and how it should be.
One disclaimer i think the CN Rom is worse in performance in comparison with a WW Rom (But no real actual proof just a hypothesis) because you will get some games or apps stopping because of missing Google play services or some google apps.
It's a huge difference in person but still noticeable after recording it and uploading it to youtube.

(add youtube to the front as I'm new and unable to post links. please also view in 60fps setting)

The link doesn't work.
I also upgraded from Razer Phone to RoG Phone, and I'm loving it. All the games I play are smooth, with colors so much brighter, and vibrant. So happy to have THE Headphone jack back.

Thanks Zicott, in that case my phone is very likely defective. I'll see if I can get it repaired .
Tried out guns of boom and it played well on mine

Scrolling sensitivity

I noticed that scrolling sensitivity is quite low and too much scrolling happens if I try to scroll quickly to reach where I want. Touch sensitivity is fine, also scrolling is smooth, issue is only with scrolling rate/speed/acceleration . Anything that involves scrolling, like Web browser, app browser etc.., has this issue.
its a system-wide issue.
Are you experiencing the same?
I notice the same compared to my one plus 6T where scrolling is very uniform and coincident with finger movement. Ive had both LG and BOE screens and both did it so i don't know. Not really a big deal though. Still a super snappy and smooth phone.

The OP5, 5T and OP6 all had issues with jerky scrolling due to frame drops--particularly when scrolling slowly. I'm skeptical about any praise One Plus phones receive in XDA threads for Huawei or Xiaomi phones but I have no personal experience using the 6T.
With this phone I noticed some touch response and scrolling issues on a 256GB model with a BOE display that I ended up returning. The pixel response seemed poor to me on the BOE display but maybe I had a defective one.
I never encountered any similar issues on my 128GB model with an LG display. It's easily the smoothest phone I have ever owned. I purchased it at launch and planned to upgrade to the 256GB model but the poor BOE display nixed that.
I have the 128gb BOE version and while I do concede that scrolling is slower than say the Note 9 / S9 plus, it's very smooth.
They have copied how apple used to scroll, slow and weird hehe. Very smooth looking though.

To reopen this debate, I have now realised the Mate 20 pro suffers from the same touch screen issue that the p20 pro started out with.
When you want to scroll with the Mate 20 Pro, it doesn't register the movement unless you move your finger 1 or 2 mm, then it starts scrolling.
This gives a feeling of lag or delay. It was fixed on the P20 pro after about a month, hoping it will be here too.

Scrolling smoothness

Some phones exhibit choppy scrolling, especially when navigating long web pages when multiple apps are running in the background. Rate this thread to express how you smooth scrolling feels on the Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ under such conditions. A higher rating indicates that scrolling is always buttery smooth, even when you're reading a 10,000 word article on "how to kiss a girl".
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!

Mine is having a issue of shuttering and choppy scrolling while using twitter or opening a web page need to wait at least 1 sec for the browser. or is it my perception because I was using previous 90 hz display on Red Magic 3 for almost 8 months
My 975F scrolls smoothly, buttery smooth, I see no problems whatsoever, but, if compare it to a screen with 90, 120, etc Hz of refreshing rate, obviously differnces would be evident, that is, DIFFERENCES, not issues
Regardless of the phone's loading factor, teh scrooling is always very smooth. What I did encounter however is in certain situations GBoard gets very laggy, and no amount of apps closing down seems to fix it. What make it better though is to switch the screen off and turn back on, and the keyboard is, again, very responsive.
as usual not smooth and fast like Chinese softwares
I cam from.p30 pro and it was much faster and smoother with A10
vivo nex 3 too way way faster and smoother
samsung needs to make oneui more smoother
Mine was butter smooth when i first got it Android 9. Now that i've updated to Android 10 its went straight down the sh#*er!!! laggy AF on most games and web pages..

I updated to 10 with ui 2.0, and it behaves exactly as before, scrolls and transitions are smooth, no lags, no stutters, but I have seen some posts where users complain about ui 2.1

Wow, two different posters with word for word copies of each other? I'm sure that's legit.
well I can tell you I didn't copy anyone.. you can look at the post and see that. Don't know about the other guy but what I wrote is how my phone is acting

Try resetting network settings. A poor internet connection will cause that.
The Note 10+ its self runs very fast unless overheated or because of rogue apk(s). 3rd party apks including carrier and Samsung bloatware can raise hell... ditch as many as you don't need.
Google Transport is another habitual offender; turn it off. Turn off all Google, Samsung and carrier feedback.
AT&T updates is just about malware and a pig; block when not updating if running an AT&T variant.
Sometimes it's better to turn some off rather than use a package blocker as using a blocker will leave other dependencies constantly polling the disabled apk (sucking up resources needlessly) such as the case with Google Transport.
I run with animations disabled in Developer Mode which adds a bit more speed. Use Running Processes in same to track them down and well as Samsung's Battery Tracker.
