High temperatures even with liquid cooling? - Xiaomi Poco F1 Questions & Answers

Playing pubG from 10 mins. Hitting 50+ on the celsius. Isn't this quite abnormal? Hasn't happened while playing pubG before. I'm running the latest update.

This is the CPUs temperature, to me its quite normal when playing heavy games...
Other user please verified this...

What settings did you play on? On the default HD-High mine is running 40-45-46. On the higher settings it goes in the 50s.

Mine max was 45°C but it's quite normal and as we all know this is because of software problem and the fix is coming soon.

If you use CPU float, that's the CPU reading. And that could reach up to 50-63 degress, hell if you use antutu benchmark it can go all the way 93 C for a split second!
Battery seems to be in the 39-42 C range depending on the environment.

OP this is CPU and GPU temperature not battery (OR surface ) temperature. This is normal ,CPU and GPU goes above 85 Antutu or in gaming for any normal phone.Only thing matters is Battery temp which is perfectly normal.

Heating when playing light games for 10 minutes... normal?

I got my OPX yesterday, and I love it. Battery life is good, I have SOT of 3 hours and still 43% left.
However, when playing light games, it reaches 60°C very quickly. For example Minecraft PE with low render distance.
My GPU is underclocked to max 330mhz, my CPU is not underclocked but undervolted (-75mv). Using blu.spark kernel on Oxygen 2.2.1.
The battery is draining a lot faster when playing as well.
Is this normal?
Edit: It's much better with CPU limited to 1.2GHz. But a bit laggy.
With 1.2GHz is only goes up to 49°C.
I would manually set voltages until they're the lowest you can go. I've never had mine heat up and I run emulators. You should be able to bring your max clock speed to around 980mv or so which for me has never produced heat. I have my phone over clocked to 2.57ghz and I've never had any problems with heat.

How do you know its 40? have you checked it with thermometer? if its heating so much i'd advice you check whats using your cpu because something is putting too much strain on it. and if you are rooted consider undervolting. For few minutes of adjusting voltage you can go down even 8 degrees

Kernel Toolkit i see cpu is 40-60°C and battery is 43°C while playing or browser internet
60c is nothing to worry about as most cpu's will switch themselves off at around 85-90c. 43c average while gaming is not a bad temperature. I wouldn't worry about it myself.

Peak CPU temp under load.

Hi, what is the normal peak CPU temperature for the phone? Mine is going above 90 on the antutu stess-test. I feel it pretty hot around the back camera. Is this normal or my unit is faulty? Thank you.
Is that degree fahrenheit or degree celsius?
Hi, it is Celsius. Please note this is the CPU temp. The battery temp was in low 40s at that time.
Could anybody please run the 15 minute Anutu stress-test and check where the CPU temp goes in Celsius? Thanks!
I've seen several videos on YouTube, the temperatures never raise above 45 degrees celsius, even after an our of playing PUBG. So I think there's definitely something wrong with your device.

It's odd but I have bad experiences with the older 800 series of Snapdragons. I'm still holding off Pocophone for the SD636 or SD660 until I'm sure it doesn't lead to me frying an egg with the phone after playing for 30 minutes.

Playing youtube 4k video and the CPU is around 40c as well. Please note these are CPU temps I am talking about, not the battery temp which is in low 40s when the CPU goes above 90.
If possible please run the antutu stress-test for a couple of minutes and advise on the peaks. Thanks!
Just played pubg for 20 min on the default settings - CPU temp peaked at 46 C. I guess this is normal but why does it spikes in 90s on the antutu stress test...
Run Antutu test again 264k, temp spiking in 80s here in there at the end was 33 C.
Please advise if this sounds normal.

That 80c spike has got to be erroneous. That's 176F, which would melt the back cover and everything else inside.
yes it is true
I have the same experience. Run antutu and watch the temps using CPU float when it starts the CPU benchmark. Boy, it went all the to 95 C then goes back to 60 and 90 until the cpu part is finished. While gaming, this wont happen as the cpu will throttle depending how hot the battery temps. I posted the thread here at https://forum.xda-developers.com/poco-f1/how-to/phone-throttles-cpu-gpu-t3839525 so you can see the effect of battery temps on cpu performance.
My question is more like how antutu's cpu test really stress the phone. I run HWBot with cpu float and the maximum temp i was able to get was like 70-75 C while antutu can shoot the cpu up to high 80's to 90's in even cold phone state.
I think it is due to the fact that most of the companies optimise their software in such a way that the benchmarking apps consume the full CPU usage regardless of thermal throttling. OnePlus did this with their phones. My old leeco phone had the same optimization that it automatically utilized full CPU power in benchmarking apps. So I think similar is the case with Xiaomi's Poco f1
Poco F1 cpu temperature reaches 96 °C in Antutu

Mine too.It goes up to 96 C , then 60+., 70+ then again 96 degrees Celsius in Antutu stress test.
And in heavy apps goes beyond 60 °C.
I bought the phone from Romania, where I live.
I have a different problem, i too use poco f1, my benchmarks are around 4500 at 36 degree celcius wheras it is 8000 at 30. So is it the same with everyone?

Heating or throttling related issue

I was using Havoc OS with derp kernels for quite a long time, and used to play PUBG alot , so recently from past few weeks cpu temperature is reaching about 60°c (Maybe because of summer season) and then cpu starts to throttle.
Then I recently switched to Oxygen OS and when my temperature reaches 60°c something ,it doesn't throttle. (Maybe because oos uses different thermal profile)
So my questions are :
1. If it doesn't throttle above 60°c then could it harm my device?
2. What's the highest maximum temperature which wouldn't harm my device?
On Maximum 48-50 Degree Can Harm Your Device Chipset.
If You are on Latest OOS 25Build.
Then Install BuildProp Editor and Change The Value Stock Thermals False To True.
Reboot To Apply.
60 C Can Damage Your Device.
Smartphones Are Automatically Switch off When Reached to maximium Temperature 50-50.

I have changed my rom to Pixel Experience, & now the temperature is just between 45-55 while playing games, but most of the time temperature was around 50°c . I think the problem was because of kernel or rom. Don't know the exact reason.

It's Not Normal.
Till Then Don't play the Games.
I also Facing same issue while playing games 44-46.
I think problem related to latest vendor.

P.s: I have applied Gadgeshildz skin on my Poco,do u think this could be the reason?

Hello Bro This is CPU Temperature CPU Has a Limit to of 70-100 max .
This is Normal.
That is Thermal Profile.
If The Temperature Reach That Limit it Will Decrease The Performance.
Check Your Battery Temperature.
Check This.
This is mine.

I didn't understand your point.
Why is it normal? Temperature is reaching above 55°c which isn't normal.
Btw when I play pubg, battery temperature reaches to 46°c but when I took screen shot temperature was 40°c.
If battery temperature Reached to 47-55 degree that's not normal.
Your SS Shows thermal profile temperature not the CPU temperature.

I am talking about battery temperature.
Working temps in heavy workloads (Games, YouTube, Split-screen/Dual screen, etc.) is around 60°c and it is quite normal but above 75°c thats when you expect damage to the system. According to other XDA Thread, https://www.xda-developers.com/processor-temperature-results-for-tens-of-socs-how-hot-is-your-chip/ Maximum Temperature recorded on a Qualcomm Device (It uses MSM8225Q Chipset) is 63.88°c
Expect Qualcomm that makes powerful and energy efficient SOCs even operating in high temperatures.

If he uses the default thermal profile, he won't reach above 70, well it shouldn't as the phone will throttle. That's the whole idea of throttling, to lower the temperatures to protect the CPU or GPU from any damage. Also, even if you reach a higher temperature then 70, at one point, the phone will switch off in order to protect itself from any damage. Well, in most cases.

Btw every custom rom has its own throttling points for example :
Havoc os start to Throttle around 53°c
Whereas pixel experience throttles about 57_58°c
But in miui cpu temp reached above 60°c for few seconds still it doesn't throttle.

Poco doesn't have automatic shutdown when overheating, but just a overheating notification. (Like in S10+) But maybe in a certain temperature, Poco has a built-in safety switch to automatically shutdown the device to prevent possible damage

Even the old Redmi note 4 had that switch, so i'm pretty sure they have it in Poco too.
My temps used to hover around 32*c back then before the MIUI Global Beta 10 9.3.28 came out. I forgot which beta version I was in. I was all stock with no root. While gaming, my temps would go as much as 37*c but never more than it.
Right now, I've tried MIUI EU and Global Beta and most of the time, my normal temps are around 38*c.

GPU CPU Usage

Hi Guys. I play Black desert mobile on poco and when I have High graphics the gpu usage is around 30% while the cpu is 25%. Everything is ok, I can't say something about that. The point is that when I set the graphics to max settings, the usage of the graphics card goes between 35% - 60% and the processor is around 35%. For this reason, I would like you to tell me, how much the usage of gpu affects the overall 'health' and performance of the mobile, if it matters at all . What I mean is, whether it is 30% or 60%, will it affect the mobile in general? For example, I can use max graphics all the time without damaging the phone?

Ok thank you. Are you sure though ? I mean have you checked if there is any difference between the battery power after and before playing for many hours ? Or with the performance in general? Because I can play sometimes many hours a day.
