unfortunately there is no attachable keyboard cover for the S9 yet like there was/is for the S8. I know the camera and fingerprint scanner are different. But would it work (or did someone maybe know someone) who actually tried it and modified the keyboard cover so it works with the S9...

Would be interesting to know.
Remember that the cover-part has a (nfc?) chip and a magnet (near the power key). And also the keyboard part has a tiny magnet in the lower left.
I took one for the S6 Edge apart, and I can see that the S8 is quite similar. See this
So it is NOT just a matter of cutting a larger hole in the cover, the phablet has to be prepared for it with the suitable strategically placed magnetic sensors to detect that it is there.
For fun I have tried to use some of the non S8-variants on the S8, and could get an S8 back to react with the print part from the S6 Edge.
I also tried some of the other backs, but could not get them to work with the S8 (not even with the S8 keyboard)
But as it seems they have stopped production for Note 8 and S8, I think they unfortunately are abandoning the whole idea, so we should be damn lucky if the S9 got the correct sensors AND even in the same place as on S8
ADD:
Just had a look at the ifixit tear downs of the S8- and S9-, and it does not look promising for a total fit....
On the S8, the magnet at the back has its centre approximately 32mm from the top, and 10mm from the power-switch side.
So if I can measure correctly, the magnetic switch must be the tiny little component mounted north of the square chip with "C3 559 X791" (north of the orange square) here, but the S9 got no chip at that location AFAICS from this.
BUT the S9 does have a similar looking component closer to the vibrator, so it MIGHT be prepared for a cover...
The magnet on the key-part is about 16mm from the bottom and 13mm from the volume rocker side. Just north of the tip of the 3.5mm plug. And there IS a similar small component on the other side of the small print on both the S8- and S9-...
ADD II
Apart from the above add, note that surprisingly the keyboard with an S8 ALSO works both in Aeroplane mode and with NFC turned off, so the communication with the case must be a dedicated circuitry.
So that has to be there for the S9 too...
ADD: I just verified that the chip is on a small plate, and thus NOT with any antenna in the back plate (updated blog post linked above), so it SHOULD be possible to move that to another location, if the circuitry is placed elsewhere on the S9-
I just tried the s8 keyboard and I could put it on my s9 (snapdragon). It was a very tight and unstable fit, but when I did get it to click the phone recognized it and resized the screen accordingly. Unfortunately the keyboard below wasnt alugned with the buttons, and there was mostly no response. When it did respond I got a key registered from the row below and to the side, e.g. when pressing 't' it would sometimes register as 'f'. Any ideas on how to get this to work properly?

Very interesting that it works that much! Thanks for the info! This at the least proves that the a S9 was designed for a keyboard.
To bad about the slight misalignment though. Do you see the same displacement in all columns? I mean does a W also give an A, and a P an L? (when it does anything)
You COULD try to take the print out and see if a slight move would fix it. But there is no guarantee, as they could have changed the spacing in either direction too (perhaps squeezed in an extra column)
Why SamSung doesn't make for S9?

However, the Samsung Keyboard app, which is responsible for software support of the cover keyboard, does not have a separate kb-cover's layout for the S9 device. This app has layouts for S6, S7, S8, etc. Note 8 is the latest model supported.
Keyboard cover working in exactly the same way as the smart covers. The chip on the back of the case tells the phone the accessory ID, and the magnet on the front signals about the event - the keyboard is connected or the smart cover is closed.
This means that any Samsung smartphone that has version 3 of the Samsung Keyboard app (versions 4 and 5 no longer support cover keyboards) and can detect Samsung accessories, will work with cover keyboards, even those intended for older models. The only problem is shape of the case, I mean geometrical parameters.
1) You connect the keyboard
2) The phone recognize it via back chip + magnet
3) Samsung Keyboard app began to receive signals from it and process them
So no, most likely S9 was not designed for the separate keyboard, but this phone supports keyboard covers from older models.
I have several cover keyboards for S6, S7, S8. I'm thinking of adapting one of them for Note 8 (because it's impossible to find an official overlay keyboard for it!) or another Samsung phone, such as S9 + or Note 9, for which such an accessory was not released at all. Here is my plan:
1) Take a standard protective back cover, glue the chip from the old keyboard cover to it, cut two grooves to snap the front piece with keyboard into place.
2) (most difficult part for me) Design and 3D print a new front part of the keyboard case. Extract the keyboard module and magnet from the old keyboard cover, and fit it into the 3D printed front part.
3) Modify and rebuild the Samsung Keyboard APK to change the XML layout in order to match it the physical layout of the buttons. I may need to get root access to install a modified application, or I may not - IDK, need to try.
I think this should work. At least it looks like it should work.
Unfortunately, I don't have much time for this activity, so I don't know when I'll do it. But maybe it will help someone in his research. Good luck!

Been searching around for a while now but am unable to find a S4 zoom car windscreen mount or a running arm band (don't know what the real name of this is?)... Can one of you experts lend a hand in where I might obtain one as the only ones i can find are 'universal' ones and i really don't think this fat bugger of a 'phone' will fit into one of these as i believe them to be basing this on the 15.4mm thickness dimensions (as i did when i bought the phone), when in actual fact the fattest section is closer to 33mm (might be more), lol.
I am also quite keen on riding and running so need an arm band that this phone would actually fit in which again i am having the same problems as the prior.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

My reason for this one is i used to use autoguard (not really sure why), and if i go back to it i need the lens free for recording. Still shall report if it A fits and B holds securely.

I've always been tempted to try one of these but I am paranoid as f**k that the phone will fall off whilst driving. I have searched many videos and posts that all show this is not the case but still can't find the guts to try one out lol.
Can it be easily rooted on the latest firmware? Has the audio lag, touchscreen and lag issues been resolved? When was the last time the uk model has had a firmware update?
Is it true the micro sd card is read only on this tablet? Can file browsers like astro file browser acess the micro sd card ok?
Does the speaker placement cause any issues? Especially if you are going the be holding the tablet there most of the time.
How long does it take to charge the tablet?
Sorry for the long questions but i need to be sure that this is the right tablet for me, Samsung don't offer 32gb model in the uk so I'm really interested in the Z2 because of this.

I've not seen any audio lag. The touchscreen isn't the most responsive I've ever used, but is fine with fingers. Stylii are a different issue - I've not found one that works well. I've not seen any lag whilst using the tablet (except for the odd microstutter when Google play decides to update everything at once). I updated to the latest firmware as soon as I got it, so I don't know what these were like before.

All KitKat devices restrict apps writing to the SD (Astro for example would only be able to read the SD). By default you can only write to the SD by plugging into a computer and copying files across. However, if you're rooted, you can just install SD Fix (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nextapp.sdfix) and get the pre-KitKat behaviour.

They're a little low, but the tablet is so light that you're not likely to be gripping it hard enough to distort the sound. Personally I tend to hold it one handed in landscape like I would a book, with my thumb on the front of bottom edge and my fingers splayed out on the back. This way the speakers are completely unobstructed.

I've not charged from empty, but using the charger it comes with seems pretty quick. I can put it on charge, go make a cup of coffee, get back and it will have gone up by a percent or two. I bought the magnetic dock, and just leave it there when I'm not using it. The battery easily gets me through a day of heavy use, and when I'm at home it just sits on the dock.

I had exactly the same thoughts (also in the UK). 32GB is the way to go. I've had mine about a month now. I've installed pretty much every app/game I'm going to need, and the internal memory is about 80% full.
Some more thoughts:
Pros
This thing is so thin and light that I forget I'm carrying it in my bag. For me, that's a huge bonus over other tablets, and more than makes up for its flaws. It's noticeably easier to hold than an iPad Air over long periods.
Sony's interface is very close to stock Android, and most bloatware (of which there is very little) can be uninstalled.
Waterproofing is nice to have. I thought it was a gimmick at first (does anyone actually use these in the bath?), but I use mine to display recipes whilst cooking, and it's nice to not have to worry about splashes and spills.
Vibration - it lets me know that I've turned it on. I wouldn't miss this if it were missing, but it's nice to have.
NFC. I love NFC. I have a tag on the bottom of my universal remote; I use the remote to turn on my Hi-Fi, swipe the tag across the tablet, and the tablet connects over Apt-X Bluetooth and starts Spotify. Magic!
Dual-shock compatibility. It just works (you need an OTG cable for the initial pairing, after that it's Bluetooth), and is very slick.
Cons
Screen resolution isn't as nice as other tablets. This isn't noticeable when used normally, though if it's closer to your face (e.g. you're lying down using it in bed), you can see the pixels.
The waterproof flaps on the SD and USB connectors feel a bit flimsy. I'd highly recommend the magnetic doc, or a connector adapter such as the Magnector-X for charging, so that you don't have to open the port covers.
It's a fingerprint magnet (but you can just wash it clean, because it's waterproof).
The IR blaster seems to have a very narrow "beam" so is a bit tricky to use. There is also a ~1 second delay between pressing the onscreen button and the IR signal being sent. I've given up on using it, but I'm not sure how much use I'd have gotten from it anyway.
I'd go to a store and have a play if I were you. Try and find one that's not got a huge security lock on it; I've seen this on display in some stores with a metal cage around it, or a huge self retracting security cable, which makes it hard to get a feel for how it would be to hold.
i know about the screen resolution, it's not as great compared samsung note 2014 but the Z2 has the advantage of more memory space, i think that is a good trade off imo.
i tend to hold my tablet in portrait mode so the speaker placement is a issue for me, i like that it's light so i can sit down comfortably with it for long periods, i have the galaxy note 10.1 2012 model and it's quite heavy compared to current models out there now, especially for long periods of use.
that is a bonus that the tablet supports the dual shock 3 out of the box, on other devices you have to root to use the controller wirelessly.
the waterproof flaps you say are a issue, so if you are using it in a water environment wouldn't that cause problems?
the galaxy note 10.1 2012 is just as bad when it comes to finger prints but it can be easily cleaned.
i didn't know it has vibration feedback, no website lists this feature, so thanks for telling me that.

I don't think you'll have any problems then. The top and bottom bezels (as viewed in landscape) are large enough that if held in portrait mode you're very unlikely to ever cover the speakers. Assuming you're right handed and holding the tablet with your left (this is how I read newspapers and magazines on mine), one speaker will be about an inch diagonally down and to the right of the base of your thumb, and the other will be well out of the way at what is now the top of the tablet.
It also worth pointing out that the tablet allows screen rotation in all directions (is this true of all tablets? My phone doesn't do this by default), so if you do ever find that the speaker placement is an issue, you can just rotate it 180°.

Agreed. I should have been clearer when I listed the flaps as a con in my post above. I've got no concerns about their waterproofness. My concern is that if I was opening the USB cover daily to charge the tablet it might become weakened or damaged, which is why I bought the magnetic chargers. The port covers feel quite delicate when opened, but very secure when closed.

Same here. I've tried a DAGi 701 stylus (which is passive). Sketching is doable, but the display doesn't seem sensitive enough for writing. I hope that this is a software thing, though even if it were fixed, the extra features of the Note series such as the hover and palm detection would make it much more suited to note taking. I see the Z2 as more of a media consumption, rather than creation, device.
ok, thanks for the feedback guys, ill take all your replies in consideration when deciding, i use the black rubber end stylus, the one you mentioned is similar to the stylus that is included with the note 10.1, but it seems that no matter what stylus i will use i think i'll get the same results which is a shame really.

why not Gear VR ("Samsung VR")? that is optimized direct to S7 és S7 edge, the general VR cardboards won't give you same quality

The problem is Rifcat/Trinus... For the best experience (no-lag and better image quality) the recomended connection is usb tethering. Already confirmed both connection, wifi was very laggy, and usb worked beautifully.
Sadly, the Gear VR (sorry, my mistake with the name), don't allow any external usb connection.
And paying for the Gear VR, and not plugin it, is a waste.

Yup... it's kind of different. Most probably will end up in another Chinese plastic cardboard, but i want to use it for Rifcat
And because i'm in argentina, there are just a few models... Vr Box 2.0 (and maybe the 1.0), RITECH Riem Virtual Reality 3D Glasses I & II, and some other carton cardboard solutions.... So most probably i'm kind of screw

I don't understand. I've got a GearVR and I love it! I've been using it in tandem with oculus stuff, and use it with riftcat! USB Tethering works just fine. One complaint that I would have pairing it with your PC is that the S7 is 1440p, which splits up into roughly (If my math is correct, and I never check my math ;P) 800p per eye. Which, no sugar coating it, looks like **** and the aliasing is out the ass. But hey, $100 rift, amirite?

tl;dr: Get a GearVR "Revision 2" I guess its called. $100 is extremely cheap for a HMD of this comfort and quality, and the GearVR is definitely a luxury worth paying for. The Oculus store app exclusives and PC Ports, The PC connectivity, and the ability to freeze the GearVR services and play Cardboard native games make this headset really the only choice for mobile VR in my opinion.

Can you please give more info about your version? Here, in argentina, we don't have a variety of hdm... And the Gear VR costs about 2600 ARS... and the typical salary is about 10000 ARS... so, something that costs 1/4 of the common salary, is a lot...

So, please, give all details about your GearVR...

Uhh... Wow, didn't know I'd be in the spotlight here...
(Currently bricked my S7, so I can't provide pics)
Yeah, basic black velcro straps, and the entire piece isn't that cosmetically 'attractive', but I mean, none of these headsets really are. Anyway, standard "GearVR" and "Powered by Oculus" black text on the side. On the underside are two vents and a USB micro port. Other side is ya know, volume up/down, dedicated back button, and touchpad. topside is the focus wheel. On the inside eyepiece is the lenses and the light detector to sense whether or not the headset is on, and inside the outwards face (Where your phone goes) is the feet that hold it, the usb micro plug thing built inside the foot that holds it, and the foot is adjustable for S6/7 and Note. It's a solid "Click" when you switch sizes and there is no possible way it's going to fail. then there's the panel that fits over the front.
Pros:
~Cheap for the quality (Especially name brand like Samsung and Oculus!)
~Wide selection of original games
~Some PC ports exist (Provided you own a BT Controller, you can even play Dreadhalls!)
~The usb port at the bottom is nice and low profile for PC streaming/Charging while playing
~The volume buttons are easy to get to and very helpful
~Not dedicated, (You still have to plug them into your phone) but easy to access and non-damaging 3.5mm headphone jack slot
~Really damn fine lenses used for the build
~Aside from the somewhat cheap plastic used, it is very well put together
~Personally think it's the best looking out of all the headsets out now

(I would complain about the inability to use the DS4 controller on the S7, but for some reason, it really doesn't work on the entire phone, and that's more of a Samsung problem)

If you are considering purchasing one of these headsets, and need a Bluetooth controller, Stay away from moga like the plague. I personally own one. Cheap plastic, cheap connectors, cheap buttons, and I payed $80 for it. It doesn't even connect every time and it might drop off the connection if you just look at it weird. Really don't get one. I've heard steelseries makes a pretty good android specific controller.

Yeah, basic black velcro straps, and the entire piece isn't that cosmetically 'attractive', but I mean, none of these headsets really are. Anyway, standard "GearVR" and "Powered by Oculus" black text on the side. On the underside are two vents and a USB micro port. Other side is ya know, volume up/down, dedicated back button, and touchpad. topside is the focus wheel. On the inside eyepiece is the lenses and the light detector to sense whether or not the headset is on, and inside the outwards face (Where your phone goes) is the feet that hold it, the usb micro plug thing built inside the foot that holds it, and the foot is adjustable for S6/7 and Note. It's a solid "Click" when you switch sizes and there is no possible way it's going to fail. then there's the panel that fits over the front.
Pros:
~Cheap for the quality (Especially name brand like Samsung and Oculus!)
~Wide selection of original games
~Some PC ports exist (Provided you own a BT Controller, you can even play Dreadhalls!)
~The usb port at the bottom is nice and low profile for PC streaming/Charging while playing
~The volume buttons are easy to get to and very helpful
~Not dedicated, (You still have to plug them into your phone) but easy to access and non-damaging 3.5mm headphone jack slot
~Really damn fine lenses used for the build
~Aside from the somewhat cheap plastic used, it is very well put together
~Personally think it's the best looking out of all the headsets out now

Don't take it wrong, the review/comment you gave, was informative... but i cant go to a shop a say "hi! i need to test your device, plugged to my notebook" or something like that. I need to ask for some serial number or something like that...

Here, i'm talking about using some mobile VR, plugged to a PC, and with some 3rd party software, be able to play some pc vr games (instability, incompatibility, and a lot sort of problems and issues, are expected).
If you want to search something about it, go and check Rifcat and Trinus...
So, just like anyone else, I´m also looking at tonnes of cases before I get the phone.
I´d have one question I haven´t seen in the forums here yet - even Samsung offers cases for Galaxy S8 that have magnets in them, e.g. the official clear view case. Won´t the magnet in it have negative impact on the compass in the phone? My elementary school memories tell me that magnets and a compass are not the best friends. I use my phones a lot for navigating around and this would be quite an issue.
Would anyone with more technical knowledge care to chime in on this?

There's not a real compass in the phone. It's based off of the gps and accelerometer. So don't worry about magnets. I have a magnetic car mount for my phones, and none of them have ever had problems.

This is incorrect. Almost all modern smartphones use the magnetometer for the compass.
The accelerometer and other sensors only improve accuracy if used.
I cannot comment on whether a magnetic case would mess the sensor up.

You might be able to use this tool (Not sure if its in the S8) to see if the magnet is interfering
Turn on the Samsung Galaxy S7 or Galaxy S7 Edge
From the home screen, select on the phone app
Switch to the keypad
Type *#0*#
Then select on the “sensor” tile
Browse to the “Magnetic Sensor”
Now move the Samsung Galaxy S7 completely around each axis
Move the compass sensor of the Samsung Galaxy S7 until its completely calibrated
Exit the service menu by repeatedly tap the Back button
I'm hoping to use the galaxy tab s7 spen on my note 20 ultra as I find it to be much better to grip than the small note 20 ultra spen, does anyone know how I would be able to charge the s7 spen, if I don't actually own the tab s7 tablet? I have a tab s6 so not sure if it can charge on the tab s6?. Also does the spen work on any other android phone or tablet?
I can confirm that standard wireless charging does not charge the s Pen. As a matter of fact, there is no battery in the Tab 7+ s Pen. It's simply an induction coil that operates from a low power charging strip on the back of the tablet. The Tab 7+ stylus uses a wireless connection to the Tab 7+, where as the Note 20 Ultra uses capacitive touch.
I own both devices and have been unable to cross the stylus' between the two, since they use different technologies.
I have no experience with aftermarket, but if you want full size, I think you might be stuck looking for something like this:

ummmm. ... the note 20 spen uses inductive wacom tech like all spens(at least for now). Capacitive stylus are the ones that work on all touch screens(like your finger). My s7+ spen works perfectly fine on my note and vice versa. What you are probably having issue with crossing stylus is on the note and on the s7 you need to remove the pen from it's holder to let the phone/tab know there is an spen it should look for, either that or you got an aftermarket capacitive pen that looks like an s-pen.
to the OP as far as I know you cannot use any other device for charging the s-pen.

I have the Note20 Ultra and the tab S7+ and able to use both pens viceversa. Just make sure you have the option enabled in the spen settings that allows multiple spens. Can use the pen of the tab on the Note while the pen is still inside the phone.
So stuck my s-pen on the fridge and kinda lost it for a month. It was moved by accedenty too the side that normally isn't looked at. Now it will not charge at all.

They do that. Try resetting it and playing with it a couple times. The deep freeze didn't hurt it.
Not sure what reinitalizes it. I didn't use mine for 2 months and it behaved the same way. Wouldn't show or take a charge then after a couple days of playing with it, it started working again. It been fine for over a year now.
Try a reboot. Reset it.
Try a hard reboot. Reset it.
Try clearing the system cache. Reset it.
Try clearing it's data. Reboot

Supposedly, you can have multiple S Pens linked to one phone/tablet. I got my Tab S7 to work on my Note 10+ 5G like you said.
The S Pen setting is: Settings -> Advanced features -> S Pen -> Allow multiple S Pens (Let other S Pens write on the screen while your S Pen's inserted into your phone. This may drain your battery.)
Once you toggle that on, restart your phone and it works without you having to take out the S Pen.
I have my old Tab S3 S-pen I use on my note 10+ and now also on the Tab S7+...the Tab S7 pen works on my note 10, did not tried vice versa as the little note 10 pen is just an emergency solution for me.
