PDF file doesn't get saved to phone when sent as an email attachment - Huawei P20 Lite Questions & Answers

Wonder if you can help me please. I'm new to android and I'm using my icloud email address as my main account on the phone.
I get a weekly pdf document sent through to this email address and as far as I'm aware it does download the file and then the save file icon appears but when I press this I get the popup message of "cannot save file"
The document tries to open in archive view but again a popup message says cannot open page.
I've got Adobe downloaded but cant seem to find the file to open. I don't get an "open with" option either. I did once get a message about not having permission to save the file but have no idea how to rectify this.
Any ideas?

iCloud and Android is a bad combination.
I'm trying not to be rude, but Gmail is what is meant to be used with Android, and far superior too.
Sorry my English

GMail IMAP How to make it work?

Hi,
I'm using PDAViet Transformer 1.1, which I just installed last night and it's working wonderfully. However, I have a question regarding Gmail IMAP. I have configured Gmail on my phone with server imap.gmail.com but when I receive a message and open it, it comes out with a blank page. In the real Gmail, this particular message has like 13 replies but it wouldn't show on my phone.
Do I need to install something else here? coz I read somewhere that it needs J2ME, which I dun think it's included with Transformer 1.1. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thx
It turns out that I'm not the only person who's having this problem... I guess it's not 100% implemented yet or still buggy...

You're actually referring to two different methods to get Gmail. Your first paragraph mentions setting up Gmail manually using IMAP settings. Your second paragraph refers to J2ME, which is required to run the Gmail java client that actually resides on your device.
You first need to be sure to "enable" IMAP by logging into your Gmail account from your desktop browser. Here is some more info on how to do that. Here is some general information on Gmail and IMAP settings.
*edit* I checked out the link you posted and did some more searching regarding that Gmail issue. It appears that most if not all WM users have that problem. They can see the email body when it's sent as text, but not if it's sent as HTML. One possible solution that I haven't seen anyone discuss is trying the java client rather than setting it up manually. You may just want to give that a try and see if that resolves the problem. They also have these setup instructions specifically for WM6.
Mines working fine...
In Outlook, set up a new account, enter user name, uncheck the box. Follow the instructions, and enter imap.gmail.com:993 and IMAP4 as the type,
smtp.gmail.com form the smtp sending. Both connections require SSL.
edit: Just realised I wrote exactly what the link above says...
Or just stick with the Java App, like i do. Works perfectly fine...
Will GMail ever work properly!
I made the mistake of moving my domain to googles hosted service.
All well and good but if you use WM, you are buggered.
The Java app doesnt work for this service ( called google apps or Gafyd )
You can use a dedicated app only on a Blackberry!
and finally get a decent way with IMAP and and and . of fik it. whats the use .
I will wait for things to improve!
Bhayani
I got it
I got it to work using the exact instructions for WM6

I put the bold around the item that I missed before when I configured it the first time. I don't know if this was the result of the change. But I can see the body of my messages now, so I'm happy with it.
I have a HTC Apache 6700 with windows mobile 6 running on it (thanks HEmi)

It's either you solved the problem or Gmail just recently improved their IMAP service. I haven't tried again...

[Q] showing attachements direct from Mails - issue

Hi folks,
I had to change my HD2 because of a damage and now my new ROM is 1.72.
My problem is, that it is not possible, to open an attachment by klicking on it inside the mail. I always get the message "cannot show the attachment"
The attachment is already loaded down into the right folder.
The move of mails from main memory to the storage card had no effect.
The type of attachment (doc, pdf, exel) makes no difference.
it is possible, to save the attachments into a folder on the memory and open them there.
So it seems to be a problem of mobile Outlook.
Opening the attachments is key for me because of being most of my time on the road.
Does anybody have a solution?
regards
Jörg
--push----
Is it true?
Nobody can open attachements out of the mail or I'm the only guy who has this problem?
regards
Jörg
Have you tried saving the file by holding down where it says attachment and running it from where you saved it? Is it a file that can be opened up on your device anyway?

[Q] Email apps and attachments... Bug ?

Hi everybody,
I've a little problem with the email apps :
when I receive an email with some PDF or doc or whatever file as attachment, I'm unable to download it or to open it using the email application... I've to forward it to my gmail email address to be able to use the Gmail apps to see the attachment...
I'm certainly making something false, but what ??
I don't only see any buttons or any option concerning the attachment !
if you click on it u cannot open pdf file which is a pain. if u save it u can open it. we should be able to view it without saving it.
little things like this should have been sorted out!
I use maildroid which lets me view pdf without saving it.

[Q] Saving Pictures - Attachments

Just received a picture in my email that I would like to save. I download the picture and can view it, but then there's no way to access it or save it to my device. Not even a method for copying. Has anybody figured out a way to save or copy an email attachment?

I'll just go ahead and reply to my own thread. You have to go to your gallery, then switch the view to "albums", then all downloads. You'll find them in there.
Derp.
There's also a Downloads shortcut/app in the tools folder in the app drawer. Downloaded Astro file manager before I finally found that, but probably would have anyway.

[Q] Adding Taganize auto dial button to email signature

Hello All,
I have a Taganize.com account and want to use it to add an auto dial button to my email signature on my smartphone so that those reading my email have easier time to make the call to me. EG: one tap instead of 10 taps.
So far I have done the following:
1. Created Folder 'My email signature'
2. Created tag with name 'Telephone #' and Target URL using URI tel:00-country code-area code-number (FYI: 00 replaces +)
3. When I go to this tags drop down menu and click 'view details' I can see the assigned url at the bottom of the box and copied it into my email message as a simple url.
4. When the receiving party receives my email they can click it and it actually dials my telephone number from their smartphone, so thats really cool.
5. But I want to add an icon to my email signature so this Taganize hyperlink can be associated to it.
6. Does anyone know a real good client that can do this for me please?
Thank you very much!
