Hi,
Did you try it with Dex mode?
I'm asking because I bought one usb c to hdmi hub and It does not work.
When the hdmi is plugged to the external monitor, and I launch Dex mode, there is a message saying that dex mode can't be launch with an external monitor.
One more information, It works perfectly in mirroring mode on the external monitor.

The regular Samsung dex pad works well for this since you can charge the tablet while outputting to an external monitor at the same time. Had one lying around that I got from Samsung with a S9 and it sure works with both the Note 9 and the Tab S4. Note 9 does 2560x1440 but Tab S4 only does 1920x1080 though. Sadly neither do 21:9 which would be ideal since I have a 34" ultrawide. The GPUs on both can def. output 3440x1440 , just need Samsung to add support for it.

I've found that Dex mode on external monitor doesn't work when the Tablet is in Dex mode, the Tablet has to be in Tablet mode to use Dex mode on external monitor. Put your Tablet in Dex mode and check your Settings > Samsung Dex > Auto start when HDMI is connected > turn on. Then put your Tablet back into Tablet mode and connect the HDMI cable and you should get Dex mode on external monitor. If you can get Screen Mirroring to work, Dex mode should work too, with this setting on.

Hi,
Thanks for your answer, I tried it but it still does not work (same issue)
I sent an email to Samsung customer service for this issue, and the only answer I get was to buy à Samsung cable...
Thanks again

Spewen.
I'm not using a Samsung Cable/HDMI adapter.
Maybe look into what HDMI version the Tablet/Adapter/Display support. If the tablet uses HDMI 2.0 but your adapter or display only support HDMI 1.2 then that could be your problem.

I got this one: https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B075V5JK36/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Im on the hunt for a Hub at this time as well..... looking for one THATWORKS with HDMI/Ethernet/Passthrough/USB. Think im going to go to Best Buy and ask them to try them out for me there! They carry the J5 Create line and some apple product versions.

Did you find a hub that works?

I did actually:

Just need to grab a new charger as the stock one does not supply enough amps to charge and power the extra ports in use.

[Q] Neo V -USB OTG

Quick question
Does the Neo V have USB OTG support ??
Yes, if you got the LIVEDOCK.
Armands.
Damn it :/
Can i plug a Micro USB cable and plug in a pendrive directly ??
I think it wont work, but try it...
I'll try and post results ASAP
It normally works, i learnt
I found this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aw3H3EzdsrE
Its a arc but it should work on NEO too...
Its N8 otg cable...
But it seems that you can potentially fry your phone if you use for long
Wouldn't risk it xP
Will buy a 16gb card here for $20
Some things will work out of the box (like mouse), you just need one of those cheap microUSB otg adapters. Sony included some drivers in 2.3.4. But for others is trickier, what I understood so far to get pendrives working here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1307503
I still wasn't able, any help is welcome
Well well...
After 5 houers testing and building otg cable my neo accepted only keyboard.
Wireless mous recognized too, but didn't work.
Tested external 2,5" HDD but no luck..tryed external power but only unregionized device.
Then web cam..nothing.
Usb hub OK.
Camera Pentax...unsupported.
Another phone...tomorrow i will test.
And mouse i will test another simply.
Card reader didnt worked.
Charge function working
And whats cool. If you phone battery is less than 4V....But via usb otg you get already nice 5V. Charging another phone or external speakers (i had xMini) will be ok.
Dock i dont had.
Tomorrow will test more devices.

I just got my Neo so now offically moving to the Neo forum from the mini forum ..
OTG (with generic $2 OTG cable from Hongkong) works fine with keyboard and mouse, after rooting device and installing "OTG for Arc" from Market it now recognises USB thumb drives too (tested with 4Gig Sandisk Cruser edge).. I then plugged keyboard/mouse (Logitech wireless) and thumbdrive into a USB hub and it all works..I'm yet to try a larger external drive but with a powered hub I don't see why it wouldn't work. the OTG Arc software is a couple of $$ but worth it for the ability to drag files of a thumb drive.
Cheers

This and other OTG apps not need root!
When I plug in that cable into Neo should I get some kind of confirmation that it's working? I saw some YT movies that showed a popup saying: "USB host cable connected". it's it the same here?

Audio out with MHL adapter?

Does anyone know how audio is handled if the Note is connected to an external display via an MHL adapter? Will it route audio over HDMI, or do I have to option of having the audio play through the internal speaker or the 3.5mm audio jack? I want to connect the Note to my monitor, but I need to route audio separately. The easiest way would be out the headphone jack.
The MHL adapter I will be ordering is this one:

Not sure if you can reroute it. Sounds comes through HDMI for me.

Thanks... this could be a problem then. I'll have to see if there is an app that can force which output to use for all system audio (internal speaker, headset, Bluetooth, HDMI, etc.).

Not sure if it'll work with an MHL adapter, but it could be worth checking out.
Both headphone jack and bluetooth audio will overide the MHL adapter audio automatically. No need to do anything but connect. No way that I know to use internal speaker though.

This does not seem to be the case, at least with CM9-RC2. While the kernel is aware that a headset has been plugged in, only phone audio is affected. If I call my voicemail, I get the usual choice between headset or internal speaker. Phone audio does not route over HDMI. However, game and video playback audio always seems to go over HDMI. Clearly, the kernel is able to route audio where it wants (i.e., it isn't a hardware override).
Code:
08-07 21:51:12.685 I/HeadsetService(23637): Headset=true; Bluetooth=false
08-07 21:51:12.685 I/HeadsetService(23637): Selected configuration: headset

08-07 21:51:12.905 D/AudioPolicyManager( 182): setStreamVolume() for output 1 stream 4, volume 0.226465, delay 0
Well it is the case using a stock ICS kernel.
I'll try temporarily flashing the stock ICS ROM then, and see if starts working.
Hey, I am trying to do the same thing (well I want music to play via bluetooth while MHL is outputting visual). Any progress or info?

I never got around to trying the Samsung ICS image. What I did in my case was connect my speakers to my monitor (which has HDMI in and 3.5mm audio jack out).
Hmm ok, thanks. I can just use audio from the hdmi but I'd prefer bluetooth if possible (just works nicer with my car's headunit)
As I understand it, this is simply a feature (or limitation) of the way the OS handles audio routing. There's no reason why it cannot simultaneously send audio to any or all outputs. It's all digital and done in software, not like there is a physical connection that has to be switched over from internal speaker to HDMI. So it is just a matter of getting support for that in your ROM. Or grab the source code and do it yourself.
Yeah that makes sense - only I do not have the skills to do it myself and not sure how I'd search for a ROM that does that (I doubt many will advertise something like that)
I found this app "SoundAbout" or "SoudAbout Pro" (if you want full functionality) witch let you change the output : MHL(Digital) or Speaker
it works perfectly for me, sound on the smartphone and video on the monitor (tested on galaxy s3)

Sorry i made a mistake (i have edited my previous post), the free version works
just run the app after connecting the mhl adapter and set the sound over speaker
but the free version does not contains the digital output in the options if you want to reset the sound over the HDMI
there is only the paid version which can make it
but you can always disconnect and reconnect the câble and the sound is reset automatically over the HDMI
Free / Paid

Works fine on my Galaxy Note 3 - I now get HDMI audio out with A generic MHL HDMI adapter I just receivedthat I hooked up to my Note 3 (although I also did need to hook up power via micro USB wall adapter charger to the MHL device).
The only issue is that the white plastic 'collar' around the plug does not allow the MHL micro USB plug to fit in my Note 3 USB port WHEN I have a case (Trident Cyclops) around the phone.
I am going to order micro USB to micro USB extension to address this.
In the meantime I was able to test the MHL cable with my Note 3 by temporarily removing (snapping off) the white plastic collar...

I wouldn't. The headphone is a slightly amplified connection as the AV receiver using RCA jacks is expecting a non amplified signal.

[Sola][Q] Suunto Movestick Mini compatible?

Hi gang, have thrown 40USD on the bet that our ICS Xperia Sola will support the USB Ant+ dongle, Suunto Movestick Mini. I've got an OTG cable for the Nexus 7 on its way to link the dongle to the Sola. Think it'll work out of the box, if not any suggestions for enabling USB Host mode in Android? Thanks for your time.
Oh I plan to use this for cycling to link up to my ANT+ heart monitor and other gear.
Sent from my MT27i using xda premium
Worked a treat, connected USB micro male to Xperia Sola and USB standard female to Suunto Movestick Mini cable. Had prior installed ANT+ Service and ANT+ Radio via Play Market and after I connected the device a prompt asked if I wanted to enable the ANT+ Service automatically in the future. Fired up ANT+ Test and ANT+ Bike and the radio is working!
Now to get some ANT+ gear starting with cadence/speed then finally heart rate monitor. Will upload pic.

Hi, I'm trying to do the same thing you are using the Suunto movestick mini ANT+ Dongle and the micro usb to usb adapter. I have it all hooked up, have the ANT+ Radio service installed and the ANT+ Demo and I can't seem to get the radio working. The ANT+ Demo app just has "ANT not supported" at the bottom of the screen. I'm trying to do it on my Motorola Atrix running an AOKP JB ROM but have tried it on my Stock LG Optimus G too and neither have worked. Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks!

Android Gamepad on windows?

I just bought an ASUS nexus player gamepad. paired it on windows, everything works great, except the analog sticks??, paired it to my GS5 and it works just peachy.
To be more specific. I tried it in x360ce, xpadder, and default driver. All on windows 8.1 x64.
Doesn't show up in x360ce at all
Shows up in xpadder and mapping works great, but both joysticks seem to be some strange axis on windows.
Regular driver is pretty whack on windows to say the least.
Disappointing. I know its meant for the nexus player, but PC support could have been easily implemented on their end. Asus usually does it right. They didn't with this product.
If I can find a way to get the sticks working, I'm going to try to get an xinputwrapper, for full PC support.
UPDATE: pcsx2's lilypad plugin detects the following:
DirectInput controller (no surprise there)
Left stick: up/down axis 8 - left/right axis 9
Right stick: up/down axis 6 - left/right axis 7
cant figure out how to remap those axies, seeing as most of these apps only support a limited number of axes.
Update 2: Only bumping this as i feel it is something important, as this will be an issue with every android gamepad standard complying device.
I was hoping that using the registry, I would be able to remap the axes to those that windows wants to use.
navigating to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\MediaProperties\PrivateProperties\Joystick\OEM\VID_0B05&PID_4500
(Where vid&pid represent your gamepad, and my vid/pid represented my BT as its a wireless android pad of course)
Also trying to understand the registry options for the gamepad axes will lead you to:
https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/hardware/ff538340(v=vs.85).aspx
Although going through that msdn, it would seem like the axes arent supported. The full list of properties as described in Lilypad is:
Button 0-8
Numeric Keypad
Consumer Control
Hat switches (4)
Accelerator/+/-
Brake/+/-
Axis6+/-
Axis7+/-

Its strange that your controller isnt recognized by x360ce, afaik if windows sees it x360ce should too. Have you tried with the latest version of x360ce? There is a beta which if it gets your controller detected, youd be a step closer
heres link from the official site http://jocys.com/files/software/x360ce.App.3.0.1.Beta.1.zip
Im in a similar situation , but with a Moga Pro Power controller. In this case the triggers arent detected with dinput. They ofcourse work with lilypad, and they are detected like accelerator/brake. But looking at x360ce device objects page for the controller, they are actually revealed to be Y and Rz axis. But i got stuck at the binary values for the remaps, and im not sure what i need to put there.
You know I was pretty much told by a moderator that this wasn't important, that no developer would want to work on this because its "not important". So I went and returned the damn thing that same day. Still pissed that that guy had the nerve., after I clearly put effort in but oh well. Guess someone else will have to deal with it.
Just to forward the moderators crap message:
Ah, I misunderstood in that case. I'll move it to the Android General section momentarily. Development sections aren't for research but for development related releases (and in some instances, development related discussions, but those are usually about ROMs/kernels/actual code). From experience, though, I can tell you posting on the development forum will just get your thread ignored by uninterested developers and slammed by normal users.
Let me know I'd you have any questions.

Connection Issue - Dual ASUS Gamepads On ASUS Windows 10 PC
I just bought a new desktop (ASUS M32CD) and i installed a GTX 760 and i bought two ASUS Gamepads (ASUS TV500BG) thinking that i would be able to use my computer to play two player games with my friends. The controllers are bluetooth and the computer is bluetooth 4.0.
When i use one controller that one controller works fine. When i try to connect the second controller , it connects for about 10 seconds then disconnect. So my issue is that only one will stay connected. But both are paired.
ISSUE: Both controllers pair, but only one stays connected. Both stay connected for a moment then one disconnects. Before is disconnects its stops being responsive.
TROUBLESHOOTED: I know ASUS has released drivers for windows 10 for the gamepads. I have installed only the 64-bit drivers and uninstalled and reinstalled a few times now. Batteries are fine, i get the same results when i try to connect they opposite controller, the first one to connect stays connected. The other connects briefly then shuts off.

[Lite] No audio through USB?

Looking around forums and internets, I've only seen people having problems with the USB-C -> MiniJack dongle or BT -> Car audio on Pro, but I can't find anything related to Lite not pushing audio through USB. What I'm trying to do here is to connect my phone to my car's head unit (this one: https://www.pioneer-car.eu/eur/products/mvh-190ub) via USB to play music, and it doesn't work. Had no issues like this on my previous phone (LG G5). Both run on Android 7.0, FYI.
After granting access to storage EVERY TIME (because an option to "remember this choice for this device" would be too convenient I guess...?) to the HU, they both seem to 'see' each other, the audio is playing but the HU is not receiving any audio. At least that's what I assume is happening, since the HU has a basic spectrum visualiser which doesn't move with my Lite connected to it. I can do the simple things like pause/play, next/previous track by using HU's controls, but the audio is not coming through. I tried Spotify, stock music player and Youtube. Nothing. I did not try things like call audio, since this is not my priority here. I also tried disabling USB audio routing in Dev options. Not entirely sure how was that supposed to help, but it didn't.
And yes I still can use the jack to play music (which I do, since I have no choice right now), but the audio is significantly quieter and just lower quality in general when compared to USB.
Anyone having a similar issue? Any ideas what could be the cause?
On the Mate 10 Pro, I use lots of things in the car but all on Bluetooth. I assume the Mate 10 Lite has the same battery manager as the Mate 10 Pro?
Where you can set individual apps/processes to auto (default) battery management vs. Manual (non default)?
By turning items I was using to Manual that were not working as expected I stopped experiencing problems.
Hope this is helpful.

Where exactly is this menu supposed to be? Can't find it anywhere in Settings > Battery.
Setting - > Configure Apps - > Special Access - > Ignore battery optimisation

No dice. That said, why would battery optimisation even matter if HU's actively charging the phone?

On the mate 10 Pro, the phone shuts down apps and processes even if it's charging. Battery management. : )

question: if you plug in the usb dongle and cable while the screen is off and wait a few seconds, does the screen turn on?

I use Bluetooth only. I don't use the USB option in my car. Sorry.

It does and it asks if to grant accessory permissions to read data. Right after that, a popup shows saying that the phone's missing HU manufactuter's companion app (which I tried, it's terrible and doesn't help with my issue) is not installed. Did some more digging and it turns out my phone correctly switches to "audio source" USB mode. What's kinda funny is that after I connect the phone to the HU, a notification from OS shows up in the notification bar "Connected to a USB accessory. Touch for other USB options". When I try tapping on it, nothing happens. I assume some other menu should show up...?

Sounds like a compatibility issue. Quickest fix would be to use USB to aux adapter into stereo. Is that an option?
There might be a fix out there for this issue, but with Chinese phones your best bet is likely to find a workaround.
Also, have you tried other USB cables? Oem cable?

USB -> Aux adapter is technically an option, but that would be a big nuisance since I use a magnetic USB cable, and I'd had to remove the mag connector from the phone and plug in the adapter every time I get into the car. And I kinda bought the magnetic cable for the purpose of NOT plugging and unplugging cables to/from the phone all the time.
Tried 3 cables so far. OEM, 3rd party normal and 3rd party magnetic. Right now I'm onto updating my HU's firmware, since an update is available, worth a try.
