Enter your password, then tap Yes to confirm
That's how to do it on the old Galaxy S anyway
How to factory reset alternate method
Hi just to let you know you can also factory reset by entering (safe mode).
To do this switch phone off, switch on and hold power botton and home key and volume ***up *** key at the same time this will take you to (safe mode).
There are other options there too but id leave them alone until you have searched forums first for answers on what they do as they may damage firmware
I think your error was pressing down key this takes you to download mode something a little bit more knowledge required on
I hope this helps you dont forget to backup passwords email address as if you forget they are a pain to resett lol
want a hard format *2767*3855# but this will wipe off all u got so backup wat u need ....cheeeerz
Hi
I want to flash stock firmware using Odin Mobile and make a cleaning of my Internal SD Card (NOT external SD!) in order to remove old leftovers like unused folders and files.
Calendar and contacts are synced with Google and I have a full TI backup.
Will wipe everything on my Internal SD?
Does anybody know some good "clean up app" I can use instead?
Thanks

You are going to do a factory reset, right?
Wiping data would wipe your whole sd card (not external sd! ). Your USB storage wont be cleaned up.

OK so I just have to secure pictures, GPS maps and this kind of data that TI do not backup.
And then - of course - reorganizing home screen ...
Thanks

Yup, good luck!
Well, I'd recommend you to first flash and then wiping data and cache from Recovery Mode.

[Solved] how to wipe Tab completely?

salut!
i have a problem - Home button does not work. even hardware keyboard home button doesn't work either
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1476307
only software Button Savior works
so far i see that none of
a)clockworkmod\format\*.*
b)cwm\wipe\*.*
c)systray\settings\privacy\factory reset
d)cwm\install zip with wipe (stock, bindroid10, overcome 123, overcome220)
cannot erase P7500 completely: even /system/media/audio/ringtones still contains my mp3's
i suppose that i have the software queue:
1)calculate coordinates of the touch (<--- here you poke your fingers)
2)convert touch coordinates to soft-buttons
3)send button code to kernel (<--- here hardware bluetooth keyboard enters)
4)decide an action to accomplish
5)accomplish the action (<--- here Button Savior software enters)
the error is probably in 3rd or 4th step of the process.
and none of wipe methods could erase enough files/configs to delete the Home button problem. i.e. none of wipe actions can reset 1-4 steps to default factory conditions.
even with options "Back up my Data - backup current settings and application data" and "Automatic restore - when reinstalling an application, backed up settings and data will be restored" having switched off i only managed to erase my ringtones: documents/videos and error weren't deleted.
finally, the question is:
how can i wipe my P7500 completely to delete the unknown files with error, and still have the way to flash a working ROM back?
you can flash stock recovery and do a wipe from there. It will format even the SD card partition.
Also you flash a stock using ODIN which will completely refresh your tab.
thank you for the answer
i already had flashed stock P7500XWKL1_P7500XEUKL1_P7500XXKL3_HOME.tar.md5 through Odin and had no luck
yes, it deleted my ringtones, but kept docs/videos
i also tried various roms, all of these cannot delete the error of Home button...
Solved.
Went to service and they did a really complete wipe with service cables.

How to reset the Prime correctly..

Hi, I decided to start all over again and I see that you can make a reset in settings....
But, what is the hole close to the SD card slot for?
I do not care losing all my data, apps and so on.
I just want to reset "badly", so everything is gone.
Running WW14 now but the unit is German even though I am in Denmark. (Amazon DE)
I use it with "english" as system language.
It's rooted by that is not important either, I will reroot after that.
Please tell me how to reset it the best and "deepest" way
Thanks
the pinhole on volume rocker side, underneath memory card slot, is the reset button. just stick a paperclip or something in there until you hear or feel a click or see tablet reset/reboot itself.
if you want to do a factory reset. go into settings. then backup/reset. then press factory reset. it will wipe all data off tablet.
And the data will not be lost this way?
it's something i am curious about too.
if you're rooted, then you do factory reset (setting --> backup & reset), what exactly is going to happen to the tablet (e.g. system/data) - are certain apps like Rootkeeper/su binary going to left untouched or not OR is it going to be 'clean slate' (no pun intended) ?
I have performed a couple of resets from "Backup & Reset" menu, so, is there a difference of using physical the reset button?
the physical reset button is more like a reboot button. for when device freezes or locks up. hopefully that button will get you out of it. now the factory reset within settings will clear just about all data. don't think it erases root files. not sure because root files in system and those reset or reboots doesn't clear that. someone should chime in with more details.
now there is another reset from within recovery mode. where you can wipe all caches and dalvaik partitions etc...then rest from there. to get there you hold volume down and power button at the same time. keep holding till devcie reboots. then you should see some kind of lil on-screen menu or something. the complete instructions can be found on Asus site.
Thanks.. I could not find this info on ASUS side though.
Ok.
Just to share with everyone on what will happen if you do Backup->Factory Reset if you are rooted.
(1) all data in internal sdcard will be wiped clean
(2) /system is not going to be touched
--> you will retain root --> if you have Superuser app installed prior to reset, this will reappear after factory reset.
--> just need to reinstall OTA Rootkeeper after a successful factory reset
What is the best way to go about doing a factory reset and keeping a games progress? I have a lot of different games on my prime and I just want to make sure I can save the progress in all of them.

ASUS's App Backup if it's no more than 600MB of information (don't know why this limit is in place), or if you're rooted then you can back up the games and their respective data with Titanium Backup. Depending on the game you could just physically copy the save data as well.

Text copy or paste not working

1. have you disabled\froze any services\apps ?
2. swapped keyboards?
3. installed new apps?
4. are there any modifications to your stock firmware (no matter how small or insignificant they may seem) other then root?
i don't recommend it but you can try to clear dalvik cache first
if that does not work wipe cache
last resort is factory reset
to clear your system cache, you have to enter your phone in the "recovery mode"
press and hold the "Volume UP + power + home button"
once in the "recovery mode" select advanced > wipe dalvik cache
reboot your device by selecting "reboot system now"
didn't work?
go back to recovery and
"Wipe Cache partition"
last resort is factory reset
try at your own risk!
Thanks mate... But i dnt to reset and downlOad all apps again.. I can live without copy paste..

Flashing Custom ROMs
STEPS:
Download any Custom ROM for Xperia U. You can get it from here.
Do read instructions in the thread because every ROM may have a different requirement of Kernel and way of installing but basic idea is same.
Place your ROM i.e. xxx.zip file in your Root of SDCard (in internal storage)
Power off the device
Power on and repeatedly press volume down (-) button after SONY logo appears until you see the recovery
Now to clear cache scroll down to wipe cache partition and select it and scroll down to yes
To clear data or do a factory reset scroll down to wipe data/factory reset and select it and scroll down to yes
To clear dalvik cache scroll down to advanced select it again scroll down and select wipe dalvik cache
After you perform all the steps press back to enter main menu
Scroll down to install zip from sdcard and select it
Scroll down to choose zip from sdcard and select it
Now scroll to the ROM i.e. xxx.zip and select it and scroll down to yes to confirm.
Press back and reboot system.
Click to collapse
Before doing all this, your device must have root access and CWM Recovery install.
Dont know how do it? Use search button and dont be lazy person.
Please use the Q&A section for questions. see XDA rule #15. thanks
