Is Poco F1 showing notifications in the notch area yet ? or still no fix ? - Xiaomi Poco F1 Questions & Answers

I have a oneplus 6, notch is not as big etc, but it happily shows notifications in the notch area....have they yet enabled a feature to show notifications in notch area ? or is there a promised fix on the horizon?

That really is a shame, as notification icons in the notch should be easy to do, they just make them smaller in resolution, you can easily fit say 2 or 3 then the older ones just get push off the end....

If it's easy to do why don't you do it yourself and share here instead of complaining?

LOL I am not a multi billion dollar phone supplier.....it is easy for them.....such a lame feature to leave out....shame a big shame.

You need only to wait next updates, they still are working on this.

That is pretty much what I was wondering / asking, is there any links from an official source to say they are working on this or is it just currently community speculation?

Perfect, great to know it is in the pipeline

Why OP6 user trolling in Poco section?

Trolling nah I am a big fan of all things Android, I like the price point of the POCO F1, it is the right kind of price for me to buy and then to sell my oneplus 6 8gb with the new version ready soon too...as I would prefer to bank the extra in the short term...why not!
I often buy phones and use them for a few days just to test them out, currently playing with a redmi note 5 pro , was using a Mi A2 the other day (now sold) was playing with a A2 Lite a few weeks ago, toying with the Idea of a Mi Mix 2, pretty cheap at the moment.
I was all ready to buy the POCO f1 a couple of weekes ago, but once I read about the notifications.... I bailed....why not, standard feature missing...nah not good, but hoping to read it has been fixed very soon, but might order a Redmi note 6 Pro while I am waiting , but I am presuming that will have the same notification issue too...but at £148 delivered with all taxes paid to the UK it is fun just to try it out for a few days then sell it.

I can't do it !! why should I need to....bad release IMHO.

But you are complaining, also saying it's easy. Looks like it's not that easy as you think it is, so go troll somewhere else.

Lol

Custom modified status bar by Xposed + flat style bar indicators on LineageOS. Small icons though, it's not elegent, but useful.

Where did you see it at £148? At this price I'd buy a second one as this phone is amazing. I paid £276 for the 128 GB version.

hey
This is not fixed. You can get a 3rd party to show notifications on the right side of home screen. Costs a few dollars works quite well for me.
I heard you can use a Rom (Lineage or Nitrogen) to remove the notch line altogether so the notifications are underneath.
Coming from an old LG G2 there are quite a few software things that are less "intelligent" in the poco (or MiUi) and quite a few things are arbitrarily non-customizable. The hardware/performance feels fantastic.
There is wasted space on the notch currently. if the watch would be aligned to the left and it would be allowed to remove WiFi and signal icons, I think there should be enough space for around 4 notifications.

I have the icons, but they are only visible for a couple of seconds after the notification.

Is this phone still worth?

I know is a big deal between price/specs but is not listened anymore at official webpage, don't know if they are re-stocking and If there's a rom stable without battery drains. thanks
I bought this phone in September 2016. I paid about 300$ and i don't regret spending money on it. Only issue i have is that I have 32GB version so only about 25gb is for my using. Phone works smooth and without any lags. I installed Small EUI v15 ROM and no battery drain or smth like this. I have mobile data turned on whole day when i'm at work, and after 11h still have around 45% of battery with moderate using.
I bought mine about a month ago on ebay, spent $220. I honestly wanted the le pro 3 since that one has OTA updates, but it costed a bit more. I dont regret my choice though, phone works great and i installed cuoco's rom which is updated regularly. There's also a lot of development if you like switching roms.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 vs Xiaomi Mi A1

Hi!
Im going to buy new device soon, but I can't decide which phone is more worthy to buy.
I know Mi A1 have stock android, but I hope I can easily install custom roms on Redmi Note 4.
I don't seriously care about camera, and built in storage.
Is there a big difference then?

It depends upon your choice, are you a person who likes pure stock android? Or are you a person who likes customisation?
Android version should not be a case to consider, because redmi note 4x got the android 8.1 within a month of its release. Also if you want performance please note that both phones have same chipset but stock android or custom rom gives upto 10x more performance than stock miui, and i have a whole thread containing bechmarks of different custom roms.
So the main point is that
If you don't really want to root and just want a pure stock android experience with no mods, go for mi a1, but if you are ready to root and want to be a part of the development community, go for redmi note 4x,
Since you said you don't care about the camera i didn't mention it, but if your budget allows go for the 64 gb variant of redmi note 4x with 4 gb ram because it will help with performance in coming years.
Hope this helped

I think if you want to have a look at an alternative for a phone with root and custom roms, have a look at the LeEco Le Max 2 X820. There is an official LineageOS out for that too. The plus points of that are: uncomplicated unlocking of the bootloader compared to the Xiaomi way. Then it has a SD 820 cpu and Qualcom Quick Charge 3, which the Redmi Note 4 doesn't have with any stock rom and the Mi A1 only with the MIUI9 beta rom.
Also have in mind that you check your carrier frequencies, as there are different models of the Redmi Note 4 and also of the Le Max 2. For me it was important to have the LTE band 3 (1800) and 20 (800). Therefore in my case the Redmi Note 4 Global 3GB/32GB was my choice and I did not find out about the Le Max 2 after I ordered.
Go for the Note4 if you dont care about the camera. Why? The community at xda has faaaar more ROMs to offer and you find here fantastic support.

P.S.
LeEco is a dead (bankrupt?) company. I wouldnt touch anything from them.

No big price difference? At least gearbest offers the 64 GB variant regularly for around 130€. The Mi A1 is sold there temporarly for 185€. Check the german Website above to find the coupon code. https://www.chinahandys.net/xiaomi-mi-a1-angebot/
Hint: You need to be logged in with your account to have the code working.
Go rn4
Bigger battery n community better than phone looks and dual camera gimmick.
With the new mods we have hdr+, potrait mode like dual camera, etc... If you're lucky, you get sony / samsung sensor... Its better compared to a1 omnivision sensor.
You always can go pure android using any los/aosp based custom roms. It have no bloatware like stock android one rom.

The Notch

As most of you will know, Xiaomi decided to change the shape of the notch after the phone was announced.
As a result the first presentations and a lot of the marketing material show the phone with the older U-shaped notch, whereas it is now shipped with a modified (through software) V-shaped notch.
What are your thoughts about all this?
To me the old U-shaped version looks much nicer and it would have been cool if Xiaomi had made the notch type configurable.
I also wonder what chances might be to change the notch shape once custom ROM's are available.
You can set it back into the U shape since the last update
That is awesome news, I did not know that and may have to get one now

[Discussion] Why did you pick the Mi 9T/K20 over the Pro variant.

Most people are going with the pro variant of this phone.
I picked the non pro because the pro variant was over £130 (around 50% more than the Mi 9T respectively) more expensive. I'm not in desperate need of the the extra processing power albeit nice, it was not worth the extra cost. Bonus: Battery life is better on the the Mi 9T.
What about you?
Exactly same reasons as you
The pro is marginally more expensive where I live (to the point where other phones are possible competitors in the same price range), and I don't play any heavy games on my phone.
I do, however, care a lot about my battery - so the regular was a no-brainer - awesome performance with better battery life? No brainer.

Same, the mi9t is really great no need the pro
Because I wanna have better battery life and SD 730 is more than enough.

Because processing power is overrated these days lol plus 99% of the time, the phone will be used for videos/web browsing/porn. I'm sure i wouldn't be able to tell a difference. And that it's cheaper of course.
cheaper cost and battery efficient.
Battery life was more important for me than processing power. Also price, I'm of the idea that spending more than 300€ on a phone makes no sense.
Because there was no mi 9t pro still and only mi9t was available and i was using pocophone with very bad screen so i am glad to move to this beautiful phone until i back to flagship era next year
for me i don't see any reason to pay more
- i don't play games
- mi 9t have a better battery life

i want to buy k20,cheap!full amoled screen,i don't play games
but the big problem is less roms and all of them is unofficial,im not sure it can use how many gens of android.....
I thought, the same as all you did, cheaper and well enough processor, but what really making me feel bad is the software support from company, as many needed softwares and updates are not as on the pro variant, such as DC dimming, nfc, super fast software update and many more.

Well, then the Mi 9t is better because... it's cheaper. And I didnt need all the processing power, older phones are already pretty fast so why bother with faster CPU?

I'm not sold on the K30 except if i NEED 5G (and i don't atm).
As i don't game, 120Hz is useless for me (yea ppl say it's smoother and you will never go back but i don't agree with the never go back, 60hz is enough).

And I'm kinda the opposite. I wasn't all set on the pop-up camera but I said "meh, it's worth a try" and now I love it. The quality is great both in pictures and build quality. I don't worry about breaking it at all, in fact I think Xiaomi paid too much attention to the build quality of the motor - it won't break before other parts of the phone. However I now see a benefit - and that's privacy. If a shady app wants to spy on me, I would definitely notice it. And when I do - I could either fully uninstall the app or even better - push the camera down with my finger which tells the app to stop 'spamming' the front camera and disables the access to the front camera for it. I think the pop-up camera is great.
