Who Has Pre-Ordered? - Google Pixel 3 Guides, News, & Discussion

Submitted my order via Google for an unlocked 3 XL 128GB in Not Pink. I'm pretty excited. Who else has taken the plunge, and what did you order?

Yes, regular 3 (not XL) in black 64GB. Upgrading from a Pixel XL, which has pretty much the same size screen.

Pixel 3 in white. Coming from a 2 in same color. Super happy to have just a little more screen.

Thinking about ordering it to have along side my iPhone X’s max.

Pixel 3 in white, 64gb. Coming from a 2 in Black. Looking forward to the wireless charging, update camera (I use it extensively), subtly larger screen WITHOUT getting a bigger phone (!). I'll be honest, as much as I've longer all the Google phones over the years, this was the hardest one to pull the trigger on, especially as a pre-order. $799 is too much for this phone, but I'll justify with the $300 trade-in for my 2. I'm pretty disappointed that the significantly higher price for the non-XL didn't come with a bump in default storage. At scale, it couldn't possibly cost them for than a few cents per unit to double the storage. I get it though, since all phone manufacturers have been screwing consumers on this regard for years. Ah well, sucks to be a sucker for new tech...
Est October 22nd-23rd ship date. The last two years ,it's arrived next day, via FedEx, for me in the Chicagoland region.

Pixel 3 64 white. Gave my nephew my 2xl, dont like big phones. I was using the essential until the update the locked it and then I bricked it. Been using the Nokia 6.1 and its been pretty painful using that phone.

Pixel 3 black 128, I had a Pixel XL 2, but lost it, so I've been using a Pixel XL lately. I also preordered a black camo dbrand skin for it.

Pixel 3
I traded in the Pixel XL that was a backup to my Pixel 2. I will now use that as the backup. Figure the $130 + $50 tradeup was as good as I was going to get. I use Fi, so gaining the Band 71 on TMobile.

Pre-ordered a Pixel 3 128GB in Black as an upgrade to my barely functioning HTC 10 I've had for 2.5 years. F5'ing like mad during the event waiting for the sale to come online

Regular Pixel 3 unlocked. Black 64GB. Might trade my OG Pixel XL and keep my 2XL as a back up. Got approved for credit which surprised me since I am not working. Don't know why I did it. Normally an XL guy but couldn't take that notch. Supposed to arrive by EOM. Ordered a stand also. That supposed to arrive a week later

Black Pixel 3, 64GB, coming from a 5x. Oct 22 -23 estimated delivery .

Upgraded my 128 XL2 black to a 128 XL3 black. Wife is going tom a 128 XL2 black to a 128 XL3 white.

The screen size is different due to aspect ratio

Ordered black pixel 3 128gb

Black 128 GB

Regular Pixel 3 - Not Pink - 64GB from Verizon for my wife. She's upgrading from a first gen Pixel.

Pixel white 128gb - Moving on from my HTC 10. It's been a great phone but I really wanted to step up my camera at this point and with the pre-order discount, it made it a no-brainer to move over to Google Fi from Tmo for my wife and I.

Pixel 3 in White, 128GB. Coming from a black 2XL. If not for the blue shift on the 2XL screen I might keep it and sit this round out.
As to 3 vs. 3XL, I'm not a fan of the notch on the 3XL, and anyway I'm ready for a slightly smaller phone and I feel like the 3 strikes a good balance of screen size to phone size (unlike the 2 which had the chins).

Pixel 3 Pre order
So I got the pixel 3 xl. Still debating if i should keep it. IDK what do you guys think the rooting situation would be on it?Also got the Pixel stand worth it? Amazon has some stands for $20 also 10W. What do you guys think?

The stand is definitely not worth it, my $20 wireless charger will suit me just fine.

Going with Black Pixel. 64gb. Love to have more storage but its not like Sammy to expend. Not going to pay extra for extra.
I love XL and dont mind the notch but im trying to move away from the larger phones. I use my S8+ a lot with one hand and its not fun. To the point where i realize i struggle with my little hands.
Cant pre order as i still want to play with both and make my final decision on which one to go. I wish small one had a notch or smaller bezels on top then it be no brainier.

Just bought a G6

Well I just pulled the nerveracking trigger on the G6. I hope I made a good decision. I love my GS7 but was due for an upgrade and like other phone fanatics I can't help myself but to get a new one. If only I had the money to pay off and keep the old one too
Verizon didn't have platinum in the store so i had to go back home and order online. rats. I could have it in my had right now but i don't dig fingerprint black
congrats, ordered one for my gf on verizon on sunday and it should be here tomorrow or thursday, she got hte platinum as well
I ordered the black from T-Mo, because you know, root, and stuff
Enjoy! Good choice considering what's available.

Yeah. I don't like the curved screens of the Galaxy phones and the pixel isn't water resistant. That leaves LG G6 or V20. I've been wanting to try LG for a few years but the quality control issues shied me away. I would go for the V20 if it wasn't for the lousy auto mode on the camera and the camera glass that could break easy. It's always nerve racking for me getting a new phone and trying to get used to it. Dang it took me 2-4 weeks to get used to the iphone before.
I bought one and have had it just over a week now. I had a Pixel, a G5, and a Nexus 5x before.
I really like the screen to body size and the sound of the G6. I've never been a fan of LDC and much prefer OLED for color reproduction, but after a few days I stopped paying so much attention to it. A shame though that LG, one of the largest OLED makers in the Electronics industry chose again to use LCD tech for its screen. When I compare the screen to my Pixel the Pixel seems sharper even though the specs say otherwise.
Other than this I am really happy with the switch. I can't express enough how comfortably such a large screen fits in my hands. I think LG hit it out of the park with this phone.

Selling a sealed grey 4/64GB X829 Le Max 2, shipping from California...

Hey guys, so I bought two of these from Banggood after selling my OnePlus 3T as I wait for the OnePlus 5, but the Le Max 2 is so great that I might just hold off and wait for the OnePlus 5T or 6. I bought two because my mom had originally lost her LG G Flex 2, but someone was kind enough to return it to her.
The fingerprint reader works perfectly fine on mine so far, but I'll wait a few days before rooting and flashing, so I can get a better feel for it and the phone in general. The stock ROM is perfectly usable, but I did install Google's launcher and wallpaper apps for a more familiar feel.
Im using it on T-Mobile, the Le Max 2 loaded up the proper APN and relevant settings so MMS, LTE, and VoLTE work just fine out of the box.
Battery life is just fine, the battery could have been bigger considering how big this phone is, but 3100mah is okay. The charging speed was pretty surprising though... It went from 7% to 73% in just 30 minutes, it's no Dash Charge, but Quick Charge 3.0 ain't no slouch.
Performance is what you'd expect from a Snapdragon 820, the Le Max 2 is not slowed down by the 2K display, which is surprisingly good itself. I was also impressed by the camera, it's not a bad sensor by any stretch.
Im selling the sealed one for exactly what Banggood charged me. $195.99 plus $4.99 for the black case I also bought, which is pretty much a Spigen Rugged Armor in terms of quality, looks and materials. You pay shipping. I accept PayPal. Please PM me.
use swappa for selling, this thread will probably be closed by an admin. I have bought off of swappa, had no issues with my purchase.
You sold a 3T for a X820?

Best Color?

I haven't seen an Xperia X in person, but looking at videos I'm really torn between black and white. I see a number of videos recommending against the X based on its rollout price, but there are some deals below $250 on new phones now and I think this phone is actually a value at that price. I had a Z3 Compact a couple of years ago, and it was one of the best phones I've owned.
This appears to be a really good looking phone. Is the 2.5D glass as noticeable on the white phones as it is on the black???
I own the white version, and I love it. The silver metal back is just the thing for me. Also, scratches show a bit less on the white color. The 2.5D glass shows quite a lot, that is if there is any light nearby reflecting on the screen, such as my monitor right now,
I have bought this phone at the price of 320 euroes. If you have found it for 250 dollars, buy it. No really, buy it NOW. For this price, you can't go better, unless you want to try out chinese brands.
Black graphite!
It's sleek and the screen blends in seamlessly.

Is the white a true white or is it more a pearl white. I'm about to buy an Xperia X tonight and not sure which color to buy. I can get the white version right now for $229 dollars through B&H so I was going to go with white. Tough choice.

It almost looks like a pearl white. I'm looking forward to the 5 inch screen. To me personally I think a 5 inch screen is the perfect size for a phone. You get the best of both worlds meaning you can still easily watch a movie on a 5 inch display and still use one hand to operate the phone. It's the perfect size. I've just got to figure out how to enable the fingerprint sensor. Does anyone know how I can do that because I'll be buying the US model. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Yes 5 inches is the golden spot. Dont worry, if you live in the US the fingerprint sensor it self is in the phone, it's only a phone software restriction. Just flash any custom or European stock rom and you are good to go. No need to root or anything I think
My graphite grey one looks a lot less "premium" than my partners rose gold one, mines picked up lots of little scratches despite having a cover

I ended up buying the Graphite Black for only 199 dollars from B&H and it's was actually a great deal. I've got 30 days to decide whether I want the X Performance or not which in the gold color it's only 299 dollars. I'm very tempted to step up to the top model now instead of the X. What do you guys think I should do. Black and White are both sold out so my options are gold and rose gold. I think I would opt for the lime gold color. That's steal for 299 dollars for a 820 flagship device really. But do was my deal I found on the X model at 199 dollars. Which do you think I should go for?

X Performance isn't exactly top model anymore. It's good, but not worth the 100$ difference in my opinion. The only differences are just a bit of more battery and a better cpu. Personally, the CPU of the X is perfect and enough for me, and I even play some heavy games

Google Pixel 3 to small size, to narrow and light

The regular sized Pixel 3 is so small, narrow and light. I have small hands and it was uncomfortable to type. I was expecting it to be a similar footprint to the iPhone X. Nope.
Felt like an iPhone 5. Narrow, thin & light
Thats what im worried about now. I really want the smaller one. I love everything in XL but i want to step away from two hands use. My hands are small and S8+ was not fun to use with one hand, and! S8 isnt as wide as 3xl either.
What bothers me with Regular 3, ppi is very fvcking low. Im rocking S7 edge for now and ppi is higher in this old phone than new pixel 3.
Sold my s8+ and now regretting it as I dont want to go for XL due to size and I feel like ill be unhappy with Regular one because knowing my ocd ill be looking at the screen and constantly comparing it...
damn google.
not sure what to do. I went to few Verizon stores today to see the phones but they were not there for the display. ..
16:9 vs 18/9 aspect ratio
they should have kept 5.5inch screen at 16/9 it's more useful
5.5 inch screen at 18/9 is to narrow, to thin,

I have been using Samsung PHOnes - Note 9 - S9Plus - but I thought the Pixel 3 might be a refreshing change - ordered it - arrived today - man, It is so small - (at least to what I am used to) strongly considering returning it and getting an XL - pretty sure that is what I am going to do. Don't get me wrong, I love everything else I have seen about this phone - but I guess I am spoiled by the larger screen sizes of the Samsung phones I have used - I really didn't think it would be that big of a deal - I was wrong...

Then come here and read ur post. I was in 1 Verizon store and called 5 others, to see if they have pixel but no one had any. I had same hunch as u did ,the phone will be too narrow and as much as I didn't want to go back to even wider phone. I said fvck it, and placed the order for XL.
Maybe I am just weird that I love the size of the reg Pixel 3. The XL is fine but just a tad bit too big. I think light is a good thing. I had the Essential and man that thing is awesome but it is a tank LOL. I measured my OG Pixel with the Pixel 3 and its just a bit taller and thinner but feels really great in hand.

I have a Pixel 2 XL and got a Pixel 3. My wife has the regular Pixel 2.
It is a tad smaller vs the Pixel 2 XL, but the screen is quite a bit larger vs the regular Pixel 2. A nice "in between" for me. I do not have large hands either, so I was looking forward to a phone I can use 1 handed.
This is the first complaint I've seen about it being too small. I must disagree. Once I put a thin bumper case on it, it should be perfect

I've been looking for a worthy "small-ish" phone for a long time. Pixel 2 had too much wasted space for me to overlook. This 3 is perfect!
OP = troll lol
Finally was able to play with both.
Loved both. Both have different usability to them.
I just loved how small one felt. Yet, Im sticking to my pre order and keeping XL. Typing with both hands much easier on bigger one. Typing with one hand much easier on the small one. Both screens also had dif color temp. I didn't mind the whites on XL but kinda liked the whites on Small one, however, I really was struck by how much better video and picture quality was on XL. In fairness, I didn't check what quality mode the phones were. I only turned the brightness 100 on both. So that may be the case...
Wish I could get small one but I think I'll have a love, hate relationship with it.
With big one, I already know it's big and I'm use to that. The rest is awesome.
Notch awesome, lol. I didn't even noticed the notch much until certain apps changed the top portion of the screen to a slightly dif color. I didn't. Should of stayed the same color through out but not a bigger..
Ps if you buy the small one go white!!
Lol i ordered xl in black but damn how sweet small looked in white.

Agreed. Cant wait to get it (white pixel 3 64gb). Just to get the feel of it (pixel / pie) I got myself a used but in great shape pixel 2 (black) for couple hundred €, since lately i have been using xs max and got sick and tired of huge phones..its actually already quitte usable when u disable navbar and use just gestures (all in one gestures apk in combo with xda nav gestures apk), but with P3 them smallee bezzels will make it ideal in terms of comfort both in hands and pockets.
Got the Pixel 3 (black, 64mb, Project Fi) and REALLY like it. Perfect size for me. It's slippery and thin so a simple thin case makes it just right. Have over 100 apps loaded and it's lightning quick. I turn off all animations so everything is just instant. Screen is plenty good. Bright enough for sunlight, good color saturation and blacks. Speakers are a big improvement over my Galaxy S7. Slimmed down Android and first in line for updates is great. I'd like more ability to customize colors on some screens, but expect that to increase. Getting 10dB increase in wifi signal strength compared to the S7, and went from 170 Mbps to 220 on download test. To say nothing about the camera. The nav button thing takes a bit of getting used to but not a big deal at all. Extremely happy so far.

Same here! I've been waiting so long for a flagship phone that is usable with one hand! but the whole industry seems to have turned to the Asian market, where bigger is better (could think of a hundred bad jokes here...)
Speaking of one-hand-use: For me with my Nexus 5 i really appreciate the bottom bezel to navigate one-handed. Holding the phone with one hand and typing with my thumb it would be a real stretch to reach the actual bottom of the phone. On one hand i get the whole bezel-less trend - it looks great! But in terms of usability i absolutely need the bottom bezel. My ergonomically and optically perfect phone would probably be a 5.3-5.5" version of the mi mix 2...
Also it's not even that much about the height of the phone, but more about the width. I tried holding the Nokia Sirocco, it looks small but for me it's impossible to use with one hand. So thank you google for giving everbody an option, who doesn't want a big-ass phone!! Can't wait!
I've been using my pixel 3 all afternoon, and in my opinion it's the exact right size.
I truly don't understand how everyone can use gigantic tablet sized phones.
They don't fit in your pocket worth a crap, they don't fit in your car anywhere except for a dedicated mount (no cupholder or cubby), and are just unwieldy to use.
And I'm six foot one with big hands. No clue how people with tiny hands use giant phones.

I have both at home. 6-ft, 200 lb male. The XL is unwieldy and strains my hand. Will likely return the XL. The small one sounds better and has a warmer color temperature but I agree, it is a little too narrow. I prefer 16:9 ratio. Both are too thin. Why can't any of these manufacturers double the thickness and put a fat battery in?

Has anybody here switched from [no Root] Samsung [Galaxy]?

Hi all,
I've had my Samsung Galaxy S8 for 2 years now and am eligible/ready to upgrade. I could wait a little longer, although my wife broke her S8 and needs a new phone now. I try to keep us on the same hardware. The S10 is a tempting upgrade, but it's expensive, and I think it is larger than the S8, and I really don't want larger.
I swore that the S8 would be my last phone with a locked bootloader that I can't root. That said, I really like Samsung's build quality. I realize the consensus is that the Pixel 3 takes better photos (but not better video). I miss all of the possibilities that come with being able to root.
I'm wondering what everyone here thinks if you've been in the same situation in the past.
Lastly, I'm reading that the Pixel 4 is expected next month, and I think I may hold out for that in hopes of better hardware specs.
Thoughts are very welcome.
I switched from a no-root Galaxy S8 to a Pixel 3 a few months ago. I grabbed the Pixel 3 when it hit a discount, because I knew I didn't want to pay the PIxel 4 release price. My main reason to do the upgrade when I did was because I had an unbranded S8, which meant on AT&T I didn't get to use VoLTE or wi-fi calling. The lack of wi-fi calling was a problem for me. Both work on the Pixel 3 as well as they work on any other phone.
I got so used to no-root on the S8, that I haven't bothered to root the 3, so I can't speak to that aspect.
As for a comparison between the phones.
Advantage S8
Fantastic screen (however you feel about the curve)
Samsung Health stuff, including the blood O2 sensor
The magnetic thing to use non-NFC payment terminals
Tested by me water proofness
Advantage Pixel 3
Somewhat faster
Fantastic camera
much better speakers
fewer bugs
Google updates
Some of those are real close. The Pixel 3 screen is good, just not S8 levels. The S8 camera is good, just not Pixel 3 levels. To me, Samsung Pay and the pulse Ox sensor were fun toys, but I could go months without using either.
The most striking difference to me was the improved speaker quality on the Pixel 3. That was certainly one of the weak points of the S8, but also something that was a surprise to me, because I'd not seen it mentioned in reviews.
The S8 and bluetooth in my primary car never got along, though it worked just fine in the secondary car. The Pixel 3 works well in both cars.
There are some other features on the S8, like iris scanning, that I never used, so I don't miss at all. In all, the Pixel 3 is probably better, but mostly because Samsung is so bad at timely updates and bug fixes. For example, they went through the entire Android 9 beta and one or two post-release updates before fixing the bug of Hiya call blocking turning off after reboot.
I am still running an S7 edge. I just bought a Pixel 3 last night at a discount. Got the S7 the day it was released. My S7 is lucky to get 4 hours of battery life with very minimal usage. I bought the Pixel 3 because I am tired of Samsung crap. My back glass is shattered and slowly falling apart because of a phone mount, and my front screen is cracked from simply tipping over from its side.
Been wanting to go back to the pure Android experience since the HTC ION (MyTouch for the Tmobile users). I will never go back to Samsung cheap crap ever again.
I bought the S9 in March from Cricket for $350 brand new, a week before the S10 came out. I love the phone, but i decided to pickup the Pixel 3, got it on a deal at bestbuy for $399 unlocked The day Android Q came out.
1. Yes, the display on the S9 is great, but i do not miss the curved display, as it made it hard for me to type, i never really got used to where to press to type letters close to the edge, so i am glad of the Pixel 3's flat dislpay
2. The stock android, really, is not very different from the One UI interface. But i do prefer the stock android experience except 2 things: Can't swipe down anywhere on the screen when at the home screen to bring down notifications (i guess i could install nova launcher, but i really like the Q gestures, as it makes one-handed operation so easy). The other thing is when entering a pin to unlock the screen, i have to press the "enter button", which samsung One UI got me spoiled by when the last number is pressed it unlocks the phone
3. Dolby Atmos on the S9 was killer! No comparison with the Pixel 3. I kinda miss that
4. Pixel 3 is simple, powerful, no extra gimmicks, i like that!
5. Camera, clearly the Pixel is superior
i agree with JML - came from the S8. my reason for leaving was all of the samsung bloatware (experience?!?!), that stupid bixby button, screen size, and did not like the touchable screen going over the edges. I consistently had troubles with that. also, the speaker was too small and placed on the bottom edge, so sound quality was poor.
but the device was beautiful, and worked fairly well. I did not root as my reason to do would be to remove ads, but I got around with SABS. with the pixel 3, you can just set the VPN to dns.adguard.com and block all ads without having to install any apps (although, blockada was pretty effective).
hope this helps.
Once you go stock Android you never go back.......NEVER
Hey all!
Revisiting this now that the Pixel 4 is out. I know that specs aren't everything, but they kind of seem behind.
Now I'm still torn. I checked out the OnePlus 7 Pro 5G, but I don't want a plus sized phone... And the bootloader is still locked.

Pixel 3, friend. You will still get updates for at least 1-2 years, if not more. The pixel 4 has better specs, but the pixel 3 will hold up well, plus it will have the same software experience
