Pixel 3 is here - Google Pixel 3 Guides, News, & Discussion

So who is getting it,I found that the phone to have more lifestyle updates than spec wise, looking forward to the camera performance.

Personally I'm still super happy with my original Pixel. The main thing I'm excited about the Pixel 3 is, is the fact that most of the new major features are all software based so it should be fun to see what can translate to the original Pixel. I mean the new call screen feature is totally software driven so no reason why it can't be ported over and the new camera with night sight will probably be using some sort of software AI so there is a possibility that can be ported too.
I think in summary it's not enough for me to justify buying the new Pixel 3 but if some of those features can be ported I'm not complaining ?

I still think the OG Pixel is the best one.

Call screening feature will be officially available on all the pixel phones a month after launch.. No need to port it..

Well I have a og pixel

I just tried the pixel 3 camera app and it has no night mode as of yet but it works once you are on Android 9,I do hope the old pixels get most of the new features, also the portrait mode is not show in the pixel 3 camera

love my OG pixel, but the vibrate motor died months ago and now the port is failing as it will only charge when connected to a computer. with the $150 increase in the pixel 3, i will probably move to a 1+ 6t or pixel 2.

I tried the new camera as well.
It installs over the original camera app.
Lower noise in low light . Still evaluating.

Yeah the price really is on the high end side

Is there any phone that even comes close to our Nexus 6P?!

Hey all,
Like some other fellow Nexus 6P users here I'm sure you are getting curious of what other phones are out there, that can please our every geeky need.
But I just can't fine one - everything I want is in this phone!
I have been looking around but yet I always keep drawing up a pro's and con's list in my mind and can't help but sum up the 6P as having:
- Great battery life (once tweaked accordingly)
- Dual speakers
- Perfect display
- Fast and reliable
- Great size
- Access to latest Google updates
- Great camera (the best I've had on a smartphone)
- Etc.
Though despite all this, the desire to at least 'window-shop' and look around for the next greatest phone is still there. The new Xiaomi Mi Mix looks interesting, as I feel like I could go bigger on the screen size. Same with the Phab 2 Pro, the 6.4" size appeals to me but then seemingly I'd lose out on the great camera (low light especially) and the dual speakers.
Anyways I thought I'd start a thread to hear some other opinions on this, if any other released/to be released phone has almost got you swayed into parting with the beloved...
Sorry
But calling Nexus 6p screen perfect
That's weard
The screen is ****
Really old AMOLED with bad colours
Coming from a 2013 Droid MAXX, the screen is perfect for me. Guess for someone coming from a Samsung Galaxy would feel differently.. but yes, this phone is just about perfect. I especially like the camera's low light capabilities.

Haha.. glad to see I'm not the only one who looking for another phone but hard to decide bc I too love my 6P.
Been thinking of the One plus 3 not really a upgrade but something different but waiting on the One plus 4 . But it's gotta have good Dev support and the One plus definitely has that.
But still looking at others as well.. undecided bc my 6P has been a perfect fit for what I like in a phone :/

I too am pretty dang content with my 6P, esp. with some of the "Pixel exclusive" features we've gotten
However, I won't deny that the 4GB/821 specs inside the Pixel XL are tempting at times...but I'm thinking I'll either get my wife a normal Pixel to upgrade her GS6 edge and wait to get myself whatever comes out next year, or just wait on both of us till then. I'm not as against the Pixel as some, but I'll admit that $870 (+ tax) for a 128GB, similarly-sized phone is a bit of a tough pill to swallow for me personally lol
I had the pixel for a a few days and returned it because the price difference to performance from the 6p felt negligible to me. 7.1.1 on the 6p fixed a lot of quirks I had and flashing the pixel stuff over made me more than content to keep the 6p thru this year. Looking forward to seeing what HTC has in store for their next flagship.

Hmm then it is a shame that we have such diffeent experiences with this phone - the colours, for me, are perfect - no tweaking of them required. The blacks are black with no 'bleeding'. Absolutely great for me...

Yup the low light camera is literally the best I've had. Very consistently impresses me, even still to this day!

Indeed, that price tag is a hefty one and one that I cannot justify spending.... at least not yet anyway. I would miss the larger screen and the speakers, being the real tangible difference. Like you say, features have/will come our way with software updates, but I really do appreciate a great sound and nice sized display - yet to find this elsewhere though!!?
The "bezel-less" Xiaomi Mi MIX does look like a nice phone. So that may tick the box of size, but would the screen quality be as nice? And the speakers? And the low light camera capabilities?? Not sure on that one...
The Huawei Honor Note 8 looks good too, very big screen which I think I'd like, but overall just don't think I'd be as happy as I am now.....
Dam restlessness eh!!
I'm definitely glad I went with the 6p also. I don't mind spending the money upgrading. Was looking at note 7 or iPhone 7 plus. But the price for the Pixel xl to me I couldn't do. I just can't put the Pixel in the same category as the other phones.

lol do you own a Nexus 6P? The display is the exact same as the Galaxy S7 screen. They only difference is the S7 screen is set a few nits brighter. Deep blacks, vibrant popping colors and great contrast. Maybe you have sRBG turned on for "true colors"? If not maybe you just have a sub-standard quality display on your phone.
there is no doubt to the nexus 6p is good device but not the best in my opinion! maybe so hard to believe but my ex device (htc M8-32 g) is far better! at the least for me!
here is some reason: I've multi rom with 3 base of Android (kitkat/lollipop/Marshmallow) and switch between the without any issues. (sense rom, google play or CM base rom doesn't matter! all of them work perfect!)but if this don't convince you let me tell you the custom sense rom developers in htc really perfect (most definitely the Viper rom of Venom groups plus insertcoin roms and sky dragon roms) having too dozens options for customize and in the end better quality of speakers and headphones sounds and have a great sound batch like Harman/Kardon sound batch and no come up short in battery even with a smaller size of battery and too smooth without any lag. may rest in peace my dear M8! ??
sure I know the nexus 6p's camera to far better than M8 but I'm not a mobile camera user and need very rarely to it
however I like my nexus 6p and one of the best device I'd

That phone does look like a nice one for its time, there's nothing wrong in holding love still for such a device! I'm in the same love for the 6P right now, for me, the best its been ever for a mobile device. But as theres only so many roms to try, my flashoholic nature starts wanting to wander into the 'next device' territory......whatever that may be haha

The Pixel XL is the same price as the iPhone 7 Plus. It may not be worth the money to some but it is the best Android phone to date. The 6p is great I still have mine but the Pixel XL is fantastic. If you like Android and could spend the money on an iPhone 7 Plus but not the Pixel XL. You need to get your hands on one and play with it. If you can get a 6p cheap it is hard to beat for the money.

If you are into rooting/modding, you can easily fix this with a custom kernal to your liking.
Answer the op. Nothing beats Huawei mate 8(soon 9) when it comes to overall phone but you have other issues to deal with. While im waiting for the Mate 9 to release and after I broke my Mate 8 I had to find a phone to hold me over.
Nexus 6p
Lg v10 and maybe g3./4
Note 5 but doesnt have enough storage for me.
Couple of other chinese phones but you lose lte most of the time.
Nothing really unless you want baby note aka s6/s7 edge.
For my personal taste, maybe axon 7 if the community is behind it. Note 7 if that whole thing didnt happen.
edit- If an updated version of the 6p ever released with half the top/bottom bezels, It would be the goat. Any htc is not in the same realm as 6p
My 6P battery was degraded. I think to change to another phone.
But I still finding...... :silly::silly::silly:
Sorry but the Nexus/Google phones have one thing that will keep me....Project Fi with CDMA-GSM LTE Switching. No other phone can do it because the software just isn't there.

Samsung devices have a "SUPER AMOLED" and the difference is noticeable. I came from a note 4 (2014 release) to a nexus 6p(2015 release) and I saw the difference in screen right away. Nothing beats a Samsung Galaxy screen, even if the nexus uses a Samsung amoled screen. I can barely see anything on this screen in the sun, which was never a problem for my note 4. Other than that, nexus 6p is a solid device.. I got it for $330 for the 64gb gold. I probably wouldn't have paid more than $350 for this device thou. Definitely feels like a downgrade from my 1 year older note 4 (sadly I broke it).
Coming from a lg v10 I was decided between a lg v20 and this phone so I bought the 32gb 6p then I'm like ok this phone is awesome but I had one problem. Internal storage was only 25gb on the 32gb variant I filled it up within a week or two then I'm like ok great phone I'm getting 128gb. I bought my fiance the lg v20 it is a awesome but the roms available for the Nexus 6p is way better than the lg v10 or 20 I had the lg v10 before this 6p. The difference is amazing, the lg v10 was slower and couldn't even keep up with me.
The only thing better than the 6p is a 6p with 12hrs SOT

Samsung S9+ or Pixel 2 XL

Been a long time since I did a forum post, but need help with a decision I am faced with and was hoping someone can help...
So, I got the Samsung S9+. It's great. Does has some lag issues (particularly scrolling) . Screen is nice. Battery is ok. Wireless charging and camera is great too.
My dilemma comes since Google recently announced a $200 off promo for the Pixel 2 XL (if you finance). I would not have considered getting it since the price was way out of proportion to the phone you were getting, but now with the reduction in cost... The question is:
Should I return my S9+, save the Carrier Financing and go with the Pixel 2 XL (now more reasonably priced)?
Mind you to return my S9+, it will require a little hoop jumping and some pain with my carrier, but what doesn't?
Anyone had both phones or have both phones... thoughts, opinions, suggestions?
You read all the VS. articles on the net, and they are about as helpful as a screen door on a submarine... you guys are the "real world" users... wanting your honesty will help a great deal!
Great post well written (not usual ramblings) ok so is the Pixel XL 2 worth the hoop jumping, yes it most certainly is. Will it be worth it to ditch the S9+ to get the Pixel XL 2?
Well that depends on how important certain features are to you, for example Wireless charging? Or expandable storage? Will 128gb be enough?, is it ok that the Pixel has only ip67?
Ok also to clarify as you have probably read & seen about the Pixel 2 XL's Display. The S9+ has the best display period .....,however there is nothing awful about the Pixel XL 2's it's blown up a bit, wait I won't argue that blue shift is there, it is, however it's not that bad and after using it for now 3 months I don't notice, or pay attention to it.
The pixel XL has the best camera in a smartphone (at present) or rather perhaps their post processing, regardless it's really that good. Updates are another obvious factor for the Pixel, front facing speakers, battery life is much better on the Pixel, design although basic, is unique and enjoyable, it's fast &, fluid.
So if I were you weigh up what's important to you, but you wouldn't be disappointed with the Pixel, especially with $200 off, it's a absolutely fantastic device to use, I love my pixel & I think you would appreciate it as much as the rest of us Team pixel users do :good:
Any more questions feel free to ask :good:
I have both the devices with me. Pixel 2xl beats Samsung s9 plus hands down.
I was having a note 8, just 3 months old. Sold it and went for s9 plus.
Trust me pixel 2 xl is the one to go for. The only reason I keep a Sammy device is for its extra skin features like secure folder app, screen resolution and the premium feel.
REST all the pixel 2 xl wins... Be it fluidity, speaker output, camera quality

Thanks for the quick come back...
I don't know... I mean the S9+ has the 845 Processor and 6GB of RAM and it's jitter on scrolling is sickening at times. I could assume that Samsung will fix this with an update at some point (like they always do) .
It's so hard to choose... I like the wireless charging, samsung pay and of course SD card expandability , but I am not going to keep any phone more than a year... Plus, getting the security updates and newest android releases is pretty decent.
damn... decisions, decisions...
Just being able to charge and listen to music at the same time without using any stupid adapter, makes the S9+ the ideal phone. Also, wireless charging is somewhat important since I have a lot of chargers already
However, Pixel's ecosystem and fluidity is something that I miss from the S9

I just came from the Pixel 2 XL because the hardware itself was a disaster. My blue tint was tragic and just sad compared to my terrible ancient iPhone (any angle past 30 degrees was ocean blue), the edges had problems with touch sensitivity, and then the charging port fried (I returned it at that point). The battery wasn't great for me either.
The P2XL camera processing is better and the actual phone is definitely less laggy, though.

You want real world users?, I can tell you I had the Pixel 2 XL and now I'm having the S9+, and I can surely say I would never pick the Pixel 2 XL again.
This is my first Samsung device, but honestly, it has everything you wish in a phone.
Pixel 2 XL camera is overrated, and moreover, S9+ kicks Pixel 2 XL ass in low light conditions. I did many tests, in many light conditions, and I can tell you that the Pixel 2 XL doesn't taken a pic you can't take with another flagship phone. Yes, is true that the dynamic range and the HDR+ is magic, but quality and detail is poor overall, and Pixel 2 XL always put a lot of noise and grain in the pictures when the light is missing. I watched all the reviews and videos about the camera, and the day I had it in hand, it was a huge disappointment because quality is not that impressive.
With the Pixel 2 XL you are risking a lot in terms of quality, because is not only about the blue tint, is also the black crush, the black smearing, problems with speakers, with screen, with other internal components... Pixel 2 XL has the worst quality control I have even seen in a smartphone, a lot of people are returning theirs, and even after 4-5 exchanges, they still are not satisfied with the device. Even stores are running away from them, because they have the highest return rate ever seen in a device, and distributors don't want to sell this device anymore, because is a headache with warranty and service. Hardware problems can't be fixed by software!.
Moreover, Google and distributors are still sending units from October and November, even 4-5 months after they were manufactured, which for me look really suspicious, and make me think they are just selling the ones that other people sent back.
Stock Android is for XDA people, but real world people appreciate the fact of having options and gestures in a phone, and not being obligated to root or install custom ROM's to get certain useful functionalities; did you see Android P?, is a ripoff of Samsung Experience and Android now is copying useful things from other manufacturers, which I'm not saying is a bad thing, but then where's the creativity and the step forward?.
The ONLY true reason to pick the Pixel 2 XL would be the updates, but otherwise, I would stick with the S9+ and never look back. I don't care about updates since Nougat, because nothing has changed too much, and Project Treble will make updates easier for everyone. But be aware, because Google tends to mess the older devices, we saw it with the Nexus 6P when the first Pixel came out, and now that we have the Pixel 2 XL, there are a lot of issues with the first Pixel. They are behaving kind of Apple slowing down phones or making them unusable.
With the S9+ you get the latest hardware, and all those issue you mention, I don't have them at all, but maybe because I'm using Exynos version; anyway, S9+ for me is smoother and faster than Pixel 2 XL and I don't have any doubt that any problem you can have will be fixed through software.
Ask me whatever you want, I know both devices really good.
:good:
No phone now is terrible.....we have reached a point where it's marginal in a lot of ways.
It just depends on features and Samsung has many....:good: for some that is great, others it's annoying.
I'm no Fanboy I just like my tech, I even have an iPhone X which I very much like :good:
So the Pixel doesn't kill or win hands down (not from my perspective) however it does offer a better user experience in terms of Updates, it offers a better Camera, all be it perhaps all In the post processing, but it's magical :good: and no Samsung hasn't trumped, but that's not saying the camera on the S9+ is terrible (It's most definitely not) I like it :good:
Samsung camera reimagined (Marketing) Camera improved yeah it is from my point (had the S8+ to) But it's not as big as advertised
It's tough but I don't have to choose, but if I had to and was in your shoes, then I would be thinking of what's important & what's not, the Pixel is where I would go, and I'm sure the S10 or if Samsung rename, is where your going to find the most improvement.
Go Pixel then see what next year brings :good:
If you like firmware updates on a monthly basis, go with the Pixel XL2. If you want to mod, unlock bootloader, root, etc Go with the Google Pixel XL2. I loved my Google Pixel XL and regret getting rid of it... The only thing is you go to get use to the a/b partitions and flashing. There are only (3) devices at this time, that i know of, running a/b partitions...the Google Pixels. both 1 and 2, and the Moto Z2 Force ( which i just bricked 2 in 4 days). But all devices eventually will be going that route, flagships at least....
*edit*
By the way, Security with the Pixel 2 is better because it gets the monthly security patches., on a monthly basis, the way devices should get updates. KNOX is for corporate companies and unless to the regular consumer, other then secure boot, i recently found out.
*edit x 2*
Whatever you do, DONT GET A VERIZON Pixel because they dont allow Boot Loader Unlocking, UNLESS the device is booted with a different SIM card, other then Verizon, you can Unlock Boot Loader and still be on verizon...
I just switched from a Pixel2 XL. I can say that the idea of having a pure stock android directly from Google's kitchen was my first argument to get the pixel2 xl but the user experience and hardware didn't seduce me enough. I continuously felt having a missing feature to make things easier, like swiping to make a call or send sms, or take a screenshot then edit it and send it, showing the hand to take a selfie, listening via 2 Bluetooth headsets to same music my wife and I, ...etc
One can say that there are workarounds for most of "missing" features but it doesn't even come close to it and I didn't pay so much to be in need of 3rd party apps to have fade copies of essential (missing) features ...
Some other "necessary" features can only be obtained by installing xposed, like realtime network speed meter, call recording, customize navigation bar ...
Concerning the hardware, I hated the display not only because of the tint but for two other major reasons: 1. Feels like cheap plastic especially if you knock on it in the middle. 2. While using it on daydream vr, the screen has bad quality and an ugly black tearing (which can also be seen without vr).
VR is also a major argument for me to switch to S9+. There you CAN see how marvelous the screen is and how complete is the oculus ecosystem !
The camera on pixel2 xl is not that wonderful as it is said. The S9+ camera is really practical and powerful and accurate (personal pov).
About stereo speakers, it was also a tempting feature on pixel2 xl but hearing the stereo surrounding sound of S9+ is a great pleasure. A sound more realistic and with sufficient bass (sort of).
Also, I was disappointed with pixel2 xl when I recorded a video then found out its sound was mono while S9+ records videos in stereo and makes watching them a great experience !
As a flasholic, I hated the A/B seamless updates thing which makes flashing and experimenting a lot harder and troublesome.
Lag lag lag, the bad word sticking to touchwiz since ages. I don't find it laggy at all especially when considering the amount of its features. One can remove 99% of bloatware and additional stuff and gain the "legendary" nude android smoothness but then, it's nude ! I didn't pay for that. People tend to compare by benchmarks. The S9+ is doing really well on that part, but in everyday use I am sure I CAN achieve regular stuff on my S9+ faster than on Pixel2 XL !
All that being said, I again feel I'm using a "smart"phone .
Edit : I was also tempted by the long-term updates which I could get 3 years long on the pixel2 xl but, hey, are we keeping our devices more than a year ? Hell no, so why bother ? I enjoy the best looking and functioning device now until another better one seduces me...

I agree with most of your points, but you've got to be kidding regarding the camera. The pixel camera is still consistently the best out there.

I'm not kidding but I'm not a professional too. All I can say is that my S9+ pictures AND videos look better than what pixel2xl gave me. (Still personal pov)
Can I test a little bit here, I won't name the device the photo was taken with .....
First one .....
Second one :good:
What one is the Samsung? I can tell you which one is way more accurate in colour, and the better of the scene, both same auto settings and exactly the same conditions :good:
I've had both and like the S9+ at least a little better. I returned my 1st P2XL for a very blue display. The 2nd one started flashing brightly when the display went off. I got a good one for the 3rd, sold it before something else happened. After returning 2 units I lost my love for the device. Stock phones are so capable now I've lost the urge to root & mod. I really like the S9+, it just works well & the display is beautiful. It'll hold me until the P3 comes out. They are both great but I've never returned anything twice for defects. Some on here have had 5 or 6 rmas.
I had a S9+ and a Pixel 2 XL. The S9 went back for horrible black crush and smearing. Take your brightness way down and scroll through something. Also try to watch a video on Netflix. I ordered another S9 to see if it's and isolated incident. Problem is there's a thread on Android Central with the same issues. I put the S9 and Pixel next to each other. They smearing and crush looked identical. I've always been a stock Android guy, but the stereo speakers and other features on the S9 almost have me won over...if the next screen is better.

s9+ or pixel 2 xl?

which phone should i go for? I'll go to buy tommorow..just tellme which will be better? btw I'm s7e,s8,note8 user already..so i think Samsung suits me kinda best..but it's been a dream to buy pixel as it gets software update...but Samsung is a complete package..and what's the lineage situation?if it's well enough to be a daily driver then it's worth buying s9+ i guess.. battery life on note 8 was 7hours at first for me... that's why there is a hope for me to s9+...

I had Pixel 2 XL and P20 Pro, but still I kept my S9+, because is the best phone overall and with the most features.
Pixel 2 XL is overrated, the screen is mediocre as well as the camera; you will get really noisy pictures and videos.
The P20 Pro is more decent, but video quality is bad and the screen is not that good.
I saw also the U12+ which seems really nice, but HTC hasn't been so good with monthly updates so far. (I also had the U11+).
Overall, the S9+ is the best package you can get.

I don' t know, is my 1st Samsung ever because I only buy phones with double speaker arrange, and is the first time that Samsung does this, so I decided to give a try and so far I'm really happy with the phone, and I can tell you that I'm extremely picky with my daily driver, because it has to come close to perfection.

Most of the reviewers have zero idea of picture quality and photography overall, but I'm really surprised that everybody was just spreading lies about the "best camera" when honesty is not that good. I was pretty disappointed when I got it in my hands and see the real quality of the pictures.
And not to speak about all the random quality issues the phone has, which makes me doubt I would buy another Pixel anytime soon.

I was just going through the same debate, and after some research I found a lot of people complaining about Bluetooth issues on the Pixel 2 XL. I also found many people saying it doesn't work with Fitbit device's, so it was an easy decision for me. Coming from the Note 8 I am really enjoying the S9+.

Camera is good enough and is the most versatile one.
All the phone's cameras have a problem so far:
Pixel 2 XL - Grainy and noisy mess even in medium light conditions
P20 Pro - Good picture, horrible video
OP6 - Decent results, but still not able to compete with the big boys
The only phone that I would probably consider besides the S9+ is the U12+, but the lack of headphone jack and the poor update policy of HTC in the past months could be an issue as well for some people.
Overall, the S9+ offers the best hardware in any smartphone, and the software it would be a matter of preference, but still is smooth and nice.
None, wait for the Note 9. But I think you already bought.
I have both currently, running out of storage on my pixel so bought the exynos S9 plus.
I do love the pixel but the expanded storage on the samsung, the screen, the speakers and just overall added features have me hooked. Have barely used my pixel since i got the S9 plus.
Just make sure you dont get the snapdragon s9 the US and CAN ones all have locked BLs are are worthless in that regard.
And before anyone says it, i have no issues with battery life on my S9 plus.

Pixel 3 worth the upgrade ?

I just got the Pixel 3 from the Pixel 2 and I have to say, it's a nice phone, but I cannot say there is a huge noticeable difference. When you throw in the camera mod for the Pixel 2, the Pixel 3 is better on paper, but overall, it generally feels like I bought the same phone and Google is probably laughing at me.
What say ye ?
I have the 3xl and it’s definitely not an upgrade from the 2XL. For the price you’re not getting much more

If you already have a Pixel 2, I say skip it and wait for the 4. The Pixel 3 screen has flaws, especially when you observe it at angles.

I just don't think the phone is actually a huge improvement esp with the ability to do night shots with the Pixel 2. They literally changed one or 2 items and jacked up the price. I haven't met anyone i know yet so has legitimately disagreed that the Pixel 3 is worth $799 payment to upgrade to over the Pixel 2.

The only reason I upgraded to the Pixel 3 was because I could get it for $400 on Black Friday. I was expecting the issues to be overblown but they weren't. I should RMA my Pixel 3 but I'm hesitant to do so.
I just went from a Nexus 6 to Pixel 3. My wife has an OG Pixel. While the 3 is an improvement in every way except ergonomics from the 6, it isn't that much better than her Pixel. She will get a new phone after her's goes off support in October of next year and probably wait until the 2020 (Pixel 5?) phone. If somebody else is paying for your phone, then yes, upgrade, if it is your own cash, I would save it.
i only bought the pixel 3 because of the $150 off deal that took place. Coming from a 2 XL dont think its worth the upgrade at reg price.
Wireless charging alone is worth it.

Pixel 3 is absolutely not worth it IMHO until Google fixes all the outstanding issues. Specially RAM management, heating issues, buzz in speaker... It'll all probably get fixed in December update.
Then if you already have a Pixel 2, mine is running real nice and smooth after november update (had had jankiness since Pie) and most of the issues have been ironed out after a year and some. Other than the slightly bigger/better screen there are few reasons to go for P3.

Meh this year there is no innovation anywhere they are just re releasing with better chipset thats all.
Not worth it at full price. Definitely get it if the deals are as good as Black Friday. The louder speakers, 128GB (from my Pixel 2 XL 64GB) and wireless charging was definitely an upgrade to me. I'll be paying $400 give or take after I sell my Pixel 2 so it's really worth it because I couldn't stand the Pixel 2XL's display quality no more. With the Pixel 3XL everything just pops out of the screen it looks so good

The only reason it's worth it to me, is because I'm coming from a Nexus 5X. Can't say how nice it is to have a phone that open Instagram or Snapchat in seconds and actually take a picture. I'm just not a fan of this new gesture UI.... or the clock on the left!

From a Samsung, just not having the bloatware is worth it. With any Samsung phone, you need to manually set everything to back up to Google by default instead of Samsung's own clouds. That alone makes it worth it for me not to have the manufacturer or even carrier's junk pre-installed that you CANNOT uninstall.

I also have the 5X no bootloop. The camera on the phone was good at the time, but the phone itself just is very underpowered and really was the old Google. I won't ever get rid of it until it stops working. More of sentimental value, plus still getting updates !
Nexus (all of them)= Pure android experience, cheap, but laggy and full of stutters.
Pixel (all of them)= Pure android experience, great camera, and smooth.

Question Should I buy a oneplus 10t?

Was looking at it but seen some downsides. I did enjoy the slider but could live without it. The fast charging and battery seem pretty good. but if anyone owns it can you tell me what you think of it
Personally I really like it, I have never used a oneplus phone before, and the UI is smooth. The battery life is pretty great, and I personally have around 50-60% by the time I go to bed, and it usually goes down by 2-3% overnight. The charging is also insane, as I wake up and it charges before im ready to leave for the day. (20-30 mins) furthermore, it handles gaming really well, and it never really overheats. It is great for emulators, even though it throttles performance slightly compared to other s8+ gen 1 phones. The only possible downside that I see is the probability of few/no custom roms. That was a dissapointment but I can live with it, especially if oos 13 releases soon. All of this is just my opinion however, so maybe consider other people's as well. PS: I am not a big camera person, and if you are, you may want to look elsewhere.

For the roms I hope so, but it may be unlikely without proper recovery tools from what I have read. The screen is 1080p but I find it looks good, Id rather have battery from 1080p anyway. It feels responsive usually, however it sometimes limits refresh rate for games, however that can technically be bypassed with root.

Oneplus literally spent everything to try to make this the best performing low price phone on the market, so the place they saved the most money is in the camera department. Honestly, I think my Oneplus 7/7T Pro from 2019 takes better photos because it actually has a good 16mp ultrawide and a 12mp telephoto lens, while the 10T has a 8mp ultrawide and a crappy 2mp macro(booooo, NO TELEPHOTO WHYYYY). However, the 50mp main on the 10T can be alright, a bit better than the 48mp main on the 7 Pro. This will be fine for the average user, but if you really want a flagship killer grade camera, this ain't it.

I actually bought the Chinese version which means it runs ColorOS 13 (same thing as OxygenOS 13). It's ok ig? I actually kinda want to revert to coloros 12.1 b/c of the APK limitation in Android 13. Otherwise the UI is smooth and interactive, so I'd say its on par with One UI 5.

Apparently the msm tool to recover a soft bricked phone requires a username and password. So if you get in a bad bootloop and can't get back to bootloader, you may not be able to recover on your own. The EDL mode is what msm uses and is almost always going to fix a messed up flash.
Unless that changes, there may not be rom devs to build roms due to that risk. Though who knows what the future holds. It is still early in this devices life.
Depending on how important you find this:
- Camera is average. Unfortunate but not a deal breaker for me
- The alert slider is gone. I'm missing it but no deal breaker either
- The OS is no longer real Oxygen, which was loved by many, but now ColorOS. No true Android experience.
- No wireless charging. Idc about this.
I was planning on getting the Pixel 7, which is better imo. BUT I had a great deal where I got 350 euros off by trading in my old device. Then suddenly it was a no brainer. If you can find a decent deal, I would say the device is worth it. If you would pay full price, I would look into other devices as well. The whole selling point of Oneplus is gone.
That said, I'm loving:
- Battery, mostly the charging speed
- Performance and smoothness
- The 120Hz screen. If you had 120Hz before, you CANNOT go back. It would feel horrible!

So I've used the pixel 6 the pixel for a OnePlus 8 pro the Galaxy S10 and now the OnePlus 10t OnePlus has definitely been the smoothest operating system out of any Android phone I've ever used but this is easily the cheapest and most powerful phone I've ever bought into still cheaper than my OnePlus 8 pro is even though it's the April is a couple years old now and the performance on this thing is insane only downside is reading and modding is very limited at the moment which in time I'm pretty sure will open up more so if you're going for performance and usability I would definitely say It's a Good device if you're going for modding and rooting you should probably go to the pixel phones
Went to T-Mobile yesterday to buy the OP10T, but the store manager talked me into the Pixel 7. Should have gotten the OnePlus. Sharp edges and the fingerprint scanner works half the time. Going too see if they'll waive the restock fee.
