Charging pocophone with other chargers - Xiaomi Poco F1 Questions & Answers

Hello. Before I bought the poco, i had a few oneplus phones including op3 and I bought 2 dash chargers for that phone. Can i use them safely w/o harming the battery or do you recommend to only use the xiaomi charger?

It would work. Smartphones nowadays are too smart to control Charging thingy, but the Poco F1 will NOT charge at Dash Charge speed if you use OnePlus's Chargers Poco F1 only Supports QC3.0 and QC4.0 (Poco India Confirms it)

Just check if it really charges, I have a tronsmart station with QC3.0 that charges my poco f1 without problems but my redmi note 5 pro keept loosing connection after 5 seconds and if I tried the redmi charger for the poco the poco behaved the same.
I recently bought a QC 3.0 charger that charges my poco for 5 seconds and stops and repeated the process.
My tip is make sure audio is on and that charging sound is on (plug in/out sound)
Just to be safe, other than that if it charges it will do no harm to the battery since the phone has a security feature for how many volts/amps it wants.

It simply doesn't work with the phone if that is the case, I have tried 5 different cables with no luck. What I haven't tried is a different kernel or ROM other than xiaomi.eu.
I'm using a F1 now and with an Aukey 6 port (2 ports with qc3) station instead, works like a charm.

Does Poco really support Quick Charge 4.0+?

I have bought this charger from Amazon.
https://www.amazon.com/Qualcomm-Certified-Delivery-Charging-Nintendo/dp/B07FQKGB9D
As Poco India says on tweet that it supports quick charge 4, i bought this up. But unfortunately i don't see a significant improvement on charging over my stock quick charge 3 supported charger. Well, i have tried different mod that are floating around in different telegram group of poco. They do help to certain degree but not that much of a difference. Why is that? Can the developer create any mod to make the quick charge 4.0 to it's full potential??
You can made a mod to increase the charging speed (in some custom kernels) but not up to the Quick Charge 4.0 standard because QC 4 has certain Voltage and Watts that QC 3 doesn't have (Let's say QC 3 up to 20w and QC 4 up to 40w)
When buying Pocophone F1, only a Quick Charge 3.0 charger is included instead of QC 4
Here is the official list of QC 4 supported devices and official QC 4 chargers on their website.

Yep and of course, finding a good and authentic QC 4 charger is hard and expensive even here in the Philippines, finding QC4 charger is a pain in the ass.

So does this mean although i bought quick charger 4. It won't be able to perform as quick charge 4.0?

I don't really know because you bought a charger that believed has QC 4 supported but in the official list of chargers that has QC 4, it doesn't show up there. I just checked the specs of your charger and it has the highest output of 30watts. I think you just bought a QC 4+ charger.
(QC 4 and QC4+ has a little different specs or features)

Yeah. You just bought a QC 4/4+ charger. I think Qualcomm should update their list of QC4 and 4+ chargers.

Nowhere in the description of the item says the charger support quick charge 4.0.…as far as i know there's a difference between quick charge 4 and USB PD (power delivery)
Here a video I made using custom rom like nitrogen os 5-8watt speed charging but when boot into recovery TWRP 15-20 watt speed charging
I've able to fast charge using charging below
Samsung QC2.0 Charger
Huawei M5 Pro FCP Charger
Aukey PA-T14 QC3.0
These charger are not able to fast charge
Tronsmart WCP01 PD3.0 & QC4.0
Aukey PA-Y8 PD3.0 & QC4.0
I've being told by Aukey staff that QC4 somewhat not working well with Poco maybe due to Xiaomi license etc...

One thing i noticed is that the charge never exceeds 18watts.. So that means maybe within software it's limited to quick charge 3.0..
Qualcomm has certified that Poco F1 meets the hardware necessities for quick charge 4/4+. This doesn't necessarily mean it will be able to, because it's in the hands of the OEMs that manufacture our phone. Xiaomi has intentionally kept the charging voltage to low on the Poco F1, which if provided, can be easily sorted out through software updates. But I don't think Xiaomi will do that, because it's bad for their business. If you cramp up everything on such a budget phone, there will be a decrease in the purchase of their other flagships that they have provided. So in order to keep this balance between their flagship and budget oriented devices, Xiaomi has intentionally kept the Poco F1 out of quick charge 4/4+ territory. Xiaomi did announce after a couple of days that Poco F1 supports quick charge 4/4+, but only shortly it was taken down. So don't waste your time looking up for chargers that support quick charge 4/4+, the Poco F1 will never be able to quick charge in 4/4+ if Xiaomi doesn't provide such tweeks in the phone through software updates.

Aside from the possibility of it being limited by the software, battery temperature has a major impact on how fast you can charge your device. Try watching this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oh9OJQZinFQ
From his experiment, you can clearly see that Poco does support QC4 or QC4+ (I don't know what's the difference, but I guess 4+ is better?) and it's able to charge at a whopping 30+Watts just from lowering the ambient temperature alone as opposed to getting about 12 to 13 Watts from QC 3.0
As far as I know, there's only one charger that has worked for POCO to enable QC 4+. But seeing that this charger is nearly impossible to buy and is also quite expensive at the same time.
There is a post here in the forum I saw around a year ago where someone bought this charger and tested it. And he claims that it does indeed work.
He also did clarify that the benefits are little to none.
QC 4+ is mostly a theoretical upgrade to QC 3. Most phones don't ever reach the full QC 4+ or even 4 specifications.
We are limited by the battery technology of our time, where faster charges result in more heat. Which is why even though most phones released today are certified for 4+ they usually still ship with a 3 charger.
Other brands like VOOC are able to get so high is because they use dual battery cells.
Anyway, here's the charger if you want to buy it.

Wireless charging pad/stand

Anyone know of any wireless charging pads/stands that charge as fast as the one that was included with the Mix 3? I've tried a couple that say they output 2A wirelessly but looking through an app I get only about 0.7A consistently.
Have run into the same issue as you.
Looks like it's only going to fast charge with the original mix 3 pad.
Problem is I can't even find that. The ones on Ali are either fake or for the Mix 2S
My wireless charger just stopped working plug it in blinks green 3 times then off. Any ideas?
The wireless charger for the Mi 9 is a 20 watt fast charger that supports the Mi Mix 3 as well.

Do you think the 20W wireless charger would work with full speed with Mi Mix 3 or only the Mi 9 has the hardware support for it? I am so tempted to get the 20W wireless charger.

It works at full speed on the Mi Mix 3. They have the same wireless charging hardware inside each device.
could sell the original pad i got with mm3. i am not using it. i am noise sensitive and i can hear the "quiet electricity sound flowing"

Did You test it? 20W in Mix 3? Faster than cable charging?

I haven't personally tested it because I haven't received mine yet. I doubt it will be faster than the charging cable. 20W chargers though for devices that can wirelessly charge that fast, will more than likely almost double the charging speed of the 10W wireless charger that comes in the box.
Maybe try asking in xiaomi forums

Slow wireless charging?

Hola
Just got my Mi 10 Global version today. I went through the usual base setup and all. I then wanted to see how long the device will take to charge on my 15w wireless charger... Only to see that the Mi 10 is charging around 200mA. It is so slow that the device is actually loosing power if I keep the display on ???
I have two 15 watts fast wireless chargers and using my Pixel 4 XL and Mi 9, I see absolutely no problem... Issue is only on the Mi 10.
Can anyone please check their phones to see if it is only me? Thanks. Any help would be appreciated.
i have the 20w wireless pad. if i use the plug that came with mi10 (30w) it doesn't show that the pad charges with turbo even though this charger has an option of 27w charging. it needs the 27w that came with the pad in order to charge on 20w. i guess just use its own plug..

Could it be a faulty USB-C charging port or charge controller? We had one that would charge only intermittently in the circumstances you describe.
A replacement USB-C port with integral charge control board costs under $10.
Replacing the USB port does however involve LCD screen removal with a heatgun and the playing card trick. But, as yet, I have always damaged the LCD during removal through delamination, requiring screen replacement, too. And new screens cost ~ $20.
With that in mind, maybe it's worth replacing the battery simultaneously, since that involves screen removal too?
Good luck getting it sorted!
