Pixel 3 screen size vs Pixel 2 - Google Pixel 3 Guides, News, & Discussion

Just in case anyone is interested. I did some math in comparing the area of the pixel 3 screen to that of the pixel 2. The pixel 2 has a 16:9 aspect ratio with a diagonal of 5 inches. That results in a surface area of 10.68 sq inches. The pixel 3 has a 18:9 aspect ratio with a diagonal of 5.5 inches which results in surface area of 12.1 sq inches. The pixel 3 therefore has a screen area approximately 13.25% more than the pixel 2.

Pixel 2 - 67.9% screen to body ratio
Pixel 3 - 77.2% screen to body ratio

How much bigger is the screen compared to 3.5 inches?

And I mean in terms of square inches? I for the life of me can't find height and width of 3.5 inch and 4.3 inch screens.
I suspect, even though diagonally, it is only .8 inch longer, the surface area could be as much as 50% more.
someone pls do the maths.
Well, your guess is pretty much spot on. Assuming same aspect ratio between screens, the 4.3 inch has 51% more real estate than the 3.5 inch.
4.3 / 3.5 = 1.23 (scale factor)
1.23 squared gives you the surface area scale factor = 1.51, or as a percentage, 51% larger.
The GS II has a 2.2" x 3.7" screen giving it an area of 8.14 square inches.
A 3.5" diagonal screen could have an area of nearly 8.9 square inches if it were square, or 3.35 square inches if it were 3.35" tall and 1" wide. You can't calculate the area of a theoretical screen with the diagonal measurement alone.
Its all theory in practice its just a bit bigger as is the phone compared to SGS 1 side by side or held .
jje
((4.3 * ((4.3 / 800) * 480)) / 3.5) / ((3.5 / 800) * 480) = 1.50938776
so it's 50,9% larger
iPhone 4 (3.5 in):
326 ppi
960 height, 2.94 in
640 width, 1.96 in
5.76 square in
Galaxy S II (4.27 in):
218 ppi
800 height, 3.67 in
480 width, 2.20 in
8.07 square in
8.07 / 5.76 x 100 = 140
i.e. The Galaxy S II's screen has 40% more area.

+1 diagonal "length" is a poor predictor for screen area. This gave me a huge headache shopping for monitors, some 24" screens turned out "smaller" than 23" ones.

[Q] 5inch 720p ips lcd vs 5inch 1080p ips lcd ??

which display will consume more battery if we perform same operations on both phone. in other words my question is do display with more pixels consumers more battery than the display with less pixels consider screen size and type of display.
BQ - white pixel vs black pixel which consumer more battery.

Pixel 3 screen resolution < Pixel XL ??

Any scoop on why screen resolution got worse ?
Resolution Pixel XL:1440 x 2560 pixels Pixel 3:1080 x 2280 pixels
Pixel density Pixel XL:534 ppi Pixel 3:459 ppi
Even Pixel 3 density is worse than Pixel XL ?
You're comparing XL to regular, to be fair.
The original Pixel was 1080p, as was Pixel 2, and now Pixel 3.
The XL models have always had higher res screens.
The smappler model was always 1080p and XL was always 1440p.
The highly rated iPhone XS display is 458 dpi. The Pixel 3 is 440 dpi. I'm more than happy with that!

General Download the leaked Google Pixel 6 wallpapers right here!

Google dropped a lot of details on its upcoming Pixel 6 series the other day, even though it won’t be releasing until much later in the year. We know most of its specifications, and the company has even confirmed what it looks like. Now, we’ve managed to get the wallpapers from the Google Pixel 6 series, and we have them available for you to download.
We managed to trick the Google Wallpapers app to show us the Pixel 6 wallpapers by spoofing the build properties of the Google Pixel 6 Pro. In essence, we made our device look like a Pixel 6 Pro, and the Google Wallpapers app then allowed us to view all of them and download and set them as if we were using a real device.
The wallpapers above are in a compressed format, and if you want to download them and use them on your device, you can follow the link below. The resolution of these 12 wallpapers is 1440 x 3120, which is the expected display resolution of the Pixel 6 Pro. It’s worth pointing out that a lot of these wallpapers have designs that focus on the hole-punch at the top center, so they may not look great on all devices.
These wallpapers are all very different from previous Pixel wallpapers, which goes hand in hand with the rest of what we know about the Pixel 6 series. The Pixel 6 series has a pretty unique design, with a large rectangular camera bump across the back. It will feature the company’s “Google Tensor” chipset and an under-display fingerprint scanner.
The Pixel 6 Pro will also have a 6.7-inch Quad HD+ resolution curved display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The sides have “shiny, polished aluminum rails” and the wide-angle sensor “takes in 150 percent more light.” Meanwhile, the regular Pixel 6 has a smaller 6.4-inch Full HD+ resolution flat display with a 90Hz refresh rate. The sides have “matte-finished rails” and not aluminum ones.

Question Pentile or RGB Matrix?

Hi,
does anyone know if the Pixel 6 have a pentile or RGB matrix display?
I'm 99% sure it's pentile. It's been a long time since I've heard of a true RGB oled display on a phone. The switch is the most recent thing I've heard of.
Wish it was though, I miss the clarity LCDs had.
