New owner, Questions! | Unlocking bootloader, TWRP, Root, Lineage OS. - Xiaomi Poco F1 Questions & Answers

Hello! Tomorrow my Pocophone F1 should be here from the mail and I look forward to my upgrade from the Xiaomi Mi A1.
I have grown spoiled of my pure android experience however and know I'm going to be dying to get a similar stock experience on the Pocophone as well.
1. How do you unlock the bootloader without waiting the arbitrary "3 day" limit?
I know how to use the recommended method but multiple places have also made note of the Mi Flash Tool. One site specifically said that this tool can bypass this wait?
2. In what order do I install and make these modifications?
I assume it's Unlock bootloader, TWRP, Root, Lineage OS but am I wrong?
3. Is Lineage OS the best stock android option available right now? I really love how clean and basic my Mi A1 is I know it'll be a nightmare moving to the Miui.
4. The Netflix "HD" DRM issue is hardware based correct? Is there any workarounds?
I'll leave some specifics on the device I picked in case it's out of the ordinary.

Oh this has a lot of helpful information thank you!
It appears as though the Mi Flashtool unlock they link as option 2, Is a much older version? I suppose it doesn't have a wait timer built into it perhaps?

Darn was really hoping to get that today.
Could you do me a favor and run Antutu benchmark?
I'm curious if there is a significant performance difference between stock MIUI, and Lineage OS.

And if u want good antutu score look for showing off look for tips on how to.

Paranoid Android 7.3.1 for the X722 ELITE ZL0

Hello World,
Me again. After my first attempt at porting a fully working ROM, or what I tought was fully functional in my opinion, I now ported Paranoid Android, aka the greatest custom ROM for stability, to our X722 ZL0 Elite or however you decide to call it.
You'll see that in PA, everything just works and is super smooth. Even the two simcard slots do work.
You will see that in some things the phone gets reffered to as te X720. Will fix in a later build.
I've tested this build two days and everything works, even Bluetooth calling in BMW 2017 Professional navi !!
First of all, credits where it's due:
@GalaticStryder for PA
@murat1150
@slothdnk
@MakeX722GreatAswell
@evlo
@mick_novi for starting the amazing thread in the X722 section
Bugs
None so far. You Tell me
Installation procedure
Unlock bootloader. Best to be on 26S firmware, 20S will also work.
Install TWRP recovery (I used one specificly for the X722 by @CrisBalGreece). If you use a X720 TWRP image then you'll have to extract boot.img from the zip and flash it after flashing the ROM in fastboot. Please don't be stupid and report bugs while you aren't even flashing the damn boot img...
Wipe cache, dalvik and system (f reset)
Flash my ZIP (link below from google Drive)
Flash OpenGapps package of your choice for ARM64 Android 7.1
Wipe cache
Reboot and enjoy
Please note first boot shouldn't take longer than 5 minutes !
Disclaimer: Everything you do is at your own risk. I can't be held responsible for bugs or anything that leads to consequences because of my work. If you quickcharger decides to charger your diesel car instead of your phone that's not my problem.
You can use my work for your own ROMS. In fact, I would love to so that we can boost the support for this amazing device (160EUR!).

I am expecting my x722 from GearBest, and I am worried how will the flashing procedure go. I would also appreciate detailed, step-by-step guide with pictures since this will be my first time to flash any smartphone.
Anyway, I want to pay respect to the developers - kudos to you! :good:

Mine came bootloader unlocked. You just need to Google, a lot of tutorials here on XDA and on other websites.
Unfortunately, GearBest support has mentioned that the smartphone comes with a locked bootloader. Too bad my phone was already on its way! :cyclops:

Gearbest doesn't list the version of eUI the phone ships with, which is dumb. It probably comes with 26s, which means you'll have to flash the dev ROM and then unlock the bootloader. I think it's this one, but I'm not sure. Just do your research before trying to unlock the bootloader or flash TWRP, otherwise you'll end up with a brick. @dakok might be able to help you out.
Or maybe they just mean the bootloader in general is locked (on 20s). Many x722s from different shops come with locked bootloaders on 20s, but 20s is super easy to unlock. It's just 26s that's dangerous.
@soulaiman - i pressed the thanks button, but i just had to leave a comment saying Thank you

Just tested it, for me it does change the volume. I use the Google phone app, can you try that from the play store ? Make sure to set it as the default telephony app in settings else you will miss calls.
I put a google phone app and, by default, now the noise grows, but the minimum volume is all very loud
Otherwise, there are no problems with the firmware, everything works fine

Yeah I know, the lowest setting is still loud... For me it works and doesn't bother me but I didn't test it on EUI how it was.. So can't compare it.

Hey guys,
I'm just looking into options I have with the X722, and Paranoid Android seems like the best one around. I just have some quick questions.
1) How is the battery and thermal profiles? I'm now on stock EUI, and get around 6-8 SOT. I guess that SOT will be lower, but by how much? Also I intend to use the phone as a daily driver, and considering the ROM is cooked for Snapdragon 821 by default, are there any problems like overheating or battery drains? And can the battery be improved with AKT profiles for OnePlus 3 and Le Max 2, or is it pointless to try?
2) Is the ROM as stupidly fast as videos show with OnePlus 3T and Le Pro 3 non X722? Honestly, the speed looks amazing, mainly compared to EUI. I don't mind EUI that much, but wow, this looks stunning.
3) Is there any kind of OTA available?
Thanks a lot, it's great to have some options with X722.

Which custom ROM to install on Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus? Please help me in the decision!

Hi all,
I would like to install a custom ROM on my Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus, but before I do that I would like to get informed a little more bit about the custom ROMs!
Are (all) the custom ROMs as safe as the MIUI?
By safe I mean for safe paying/banking online, secured using of banking apps, safe using of FB,Viber,Instagram or simmilar apps, detecting vulnerable apps and deleting them by the ROM itself, keeping of the private informations safe(passwords etc.) as the stock MIUI ROMs.
My second question to all of you is,which custom ROMs are safer, the ROMs based on Oreo or Pie?
And finally, which is the best custom ROM according to most of you?
By best I mean firstly safe, then smooth and fast, and also with least number of bugs or not working features(or best without any bugs and with fully functional all of features!) and to drain the battery at least.
I would please you to help me and give your opinions!
Thank to all of you in advance!
Best regards!
I think if u unloock the bootloader... the phone is no longer secure... because others can enter into fastboot or recovery and extract the data... ???

Thank you for replying!
I mean,if the phone is still secure online?
I don't mean about physical securing of the phone, because only I have access to my phone!
And what could be done to increase the level of the physical securing of the phone after unlocking of the bootloader?

Which custom ROM is the best according to you, has least bugs and has almost all of the phone features working? For the Redmi 5 Plus of course!
Also has great battery,is fast and smooth?
Please stop asking this all around... If you have already unlocked, just try some custom ROMs... Its personal preference. All custom ROMs are more ornless identical on security.
But you will need some patience and try some.
AEX pie is pretty good and stable
LOS16 also very good and stable
PE Oreo is nice too
RR Oreo gave me some issues
Others I have not tried.
Make sure you flash the most recent firmware partition.
Honestly, if you care about online security just install AFWall+, DNS66 on any custom ROM. Physical security is gone when you unlocked. (Was it, ever, anyway does physical security exist?)
Sent from my Note 5 / 5 Plus using XDA Labs
Anyway ,I would like to hear more opinions about which custom ROM is best for the Redmi 5 Plus ,before I install one,so I would please all of you to share your opinions and experiencies ,because you really have much experience in this!
Thanks in advance and please apologize if I am making you bored with my questions!

you should try yourself to find "best custom rom". all people have their own prefences. so, just try all available roms for redmi 5 plus, you will find one.
If you are normal users you should stay on miui, it give you best experience.
Does anybody know if there is a possibility for MIUI to have camera2api enabled by default in near future?

This is not an easy question, because it all depends on your needs and on what you are prepared to put up with. Most of them will do a decent job - depending on your needs. For me, I have found issues with virtually every Pie ROM that I have tried - and I have tried a lot. I think you just have to try as many as possible, and see which one most meets your needs while giving you the least amount of issues. I have eventually stayed with official HavocOS - but that may not suit your purposes. And I am always extremely wary of upgrading to new releases.
PS: with the benefit of hindsight, I should have stayed with Oreo - but I have taken the Pie plunge, so that's the way it is ...

I have a simple solution :
1.Download your recovery img file
2. Keep the recovery in your phone internal storage
3. Keep the recovery in your pc too
4.Download adb setup in your pc
5. Install adb setup in your pc ( don't open after install)
6.Copy the recovery file
7. Go to your C drive and open adb
8.paste the recovery file
9. Press Shift and right click
10. Click open command window here
11. Switch off your mobile
12. Press and hold volume down and power key to go into fastboot mode
13. Now connect your phone to pc with data cable
14. Enter the code:-
(A). fastboot devices
(B) fastboot install recovery recovery.img
(C) fastboot boot recovery.img
Now your phone will boot into recovery mode
15. Swipe to allow modification
16. Press install
17. Install the recovery you kept in internal storage
Thats it...now reboot..
I personally reccommend Orangefox recovery

is someone able to port arrow os pie or pixel dust pie?

So....i Tried out treble and even though performance was'nt really the best...arrow OS pie and pixel dust pie Werke the 2 Roms i liked the most....so i decided to ask in the Forums who would like to port either
Is anyone actually Viewing this?
Did you try before, with mtk was easy, but in Snapdragon it's harder, I tried with the ROMS from Redmi Note 3 Pro, since both have the same processor could boot up
I tried but the screen gets dark and never booted, maybe with the correct vendor files but since I don't own a PC it's impossible for me

Like I said, you can't compile those ROMs from source simply because there is no source. Whatever you get out of the compiler will crash and burn, be incompatible, or be a GSI.

That's called porting. For example you can port RR from the Redmi Note 3 using Chippa_a's LOS 16 as base.
Problem is, in most cases you will have a combined set of bugs from both ROMs.
