Nokia 7.1 FM Radio? - Nokia 7.1 Questions & Answers

Does anyone know if the Nokia 7.1 will have fm radio?

It doesn't if the specification from GSMArena https://www.gsmarena.com/nokia_7_1_plus_(nokia_x7)-9342.php is correct.

Apparently, it does have an FM radio

I just got the US version yesterday from Amazon and it doesn't look like it has a radio. There is no app for it and 3rd party tuners like NextRadio do not recognize having a tuner available.

Hello arcatarc, don't think it is rooted. I have GB and unlocked. Does the phone need to be in ICS (version?) to unistalling/deleting unsupportedheadset.apk? Can just in GB doing that?
Thank you.

Good Question, A guy who thought just like me... But, I searched over internet to findout whats wrong with sony earphones.
The reason is, Earphones are categorized into 2 types. When u look at earphone pin, there will be 4 slots. 3 for sterio audio and one for Mike.
The difference between these two earphones are, Mike and one of the sterio slots are interchanged. ie,
For say, for samsung, slot1: Sterio Left, slot2: Stero Midde, Slot3: Sterio Right, Slot4: Mike
In our sony, Slot1: Sterio Left, Slot2: Sterio Middle Slot3: Mike Slot4: Sterio Right.
You can see changes in Slot 3 and 4. So, there is a mismatch in design, so, eventhough u can insert other earphones, they dont work. But, CONNECTIONING those earphones LOOSELY might work sometimes.
Hope it is clear now. And yes, SONY, NOKIA follow same design. Their earphones are compatable to each other
FM not working in my ro
I search this forum and root my sony phone. I am going to do apk.
So it is the pin order different. srihari210 thanks for your great information. I am curious to try apk. I use esfileexplorer to explore apk I only see unsupportedheadsetnotification.apk, not unsupportedheadset.apk.
Is that the same one? unsupportedheadsetnotification.apk looks like only a notification screen. I remove it. some earphone still nt work. any suggestion?

[Q] FM radio onboard?

Hi all,
i searched the officially available specs but did not find any information if an FM radio is onboard.
I mean a real over-the-air FM device, not just that things that uses my data quota.
Thanks in advance,
Frank
Both GSM Arena and M4's white paper lists FM radio support with RDS. In fact, I've never seen a Sony device without FM radio, so it's not gonna be different this time with M4 Aqua...
Reading helps ...

Thank you so much. Found it! Nice. Whitepaper is something official
Can confirm FM radio in my xperia m4 aqua dual
apparently the antenna is built into the headphones.... can't launch the FM radio app without the headphones plugged in...
It was never possible to use fm radio without headphones as antenna. At least i have not seen phone cspable of doing it in the last 10 years.
FM Radio and RDS works :good: awesome
any experiences how much battery its using compared to listen to mp3?
E.g. if I use my JBL bluetooth speaker, it seems I have to increase the volume of the radio to get the same loudness as with mp3
So it might need more power?

Enabling FM on msm8996 Qualcomm rooted.

I would like to know how to get the FM radio working on a rooted Qualcomm S7 Edge, the sm-g9350, Hong Kong variant.
I've rooted on Aurora ROM from a chinese site, and it doesn't have what's needed for FM. I can't get OTA updates as knox is 0x1. I've poured over the AP7 T Mobile update that enabled FM for the USA S7 Edge Qualcomm variants. I've found some radio jar files, some lib files, but I'm at a loss as to how to get FM working.
How do I do this? It's the Qualcomm msm8996 chip, which runs on some other devices that have fm.
Can someone with knowledge on this please work with me or help me in getting this working?
Just because it has the same chip doesn't mean it has the radio antenna or chip for it. You might want to find out if the hardware is even there first.
My s5 mini duos has same.

I've Googled and found it should have fm. How can i verify it? It is the same S7 Qualcomm sd820 as US variants, and they have fm enabled, as of a recent firmware update. Hong kong hasn't released this update, so I want to know where in the firmware I need to look.

The hardware is there. It's a replica of the US variants.

I don't know about this specific phone, but "the hardware is there" may not necessarily be accurate. The phone may have say a wifi module with integrated bluetooth and fm-radio, BUT for some of these functions, discrete components are required. Like say a few resistors, capacitors and stuff. So it is possible they have omitted that in the design and simply disabled that functionality.

No FM Radio (Mate 10 Pro)

The best and beast smartphone, I called the A.I. Phone (Mate 10 Pro)
But
I am a lover for FM Radio
Now
I can't find it FM Radio, Why?
No fm radio with Mate pro sadly

Only way is to root your mate pro and hope that a firmware activates the tuner radio if it's possible...

I will think about it!:highfive:
I don't think the Mate 10 has a radio chip. So not an easy fix
Edit: oh, I've already checked apparently: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-10/help/mate-10-pro-enable-fm-radio-t3733870
You must read and buy phone with FM radio. Why this question?
Even if the phone does have a chip that you can activate using a mod, as phones usually use the headphone cable as an antenna, and the Pro doesn't have a headphone socket, you probably wouldn't get a signal anyway as there's no way to plug in an antenna.
Not having an FM radio is a shame, as FM is a good way to listen to music for long periods of time without draining battery or data.
Just use TuneIn or the many radio apps. Only way.

Is there fm.radio

is there Fm radio
? Is there fm radyo no one knows
No there is no FM Radio.
I installed the nextradio app on my mate 20 pro and it claimed to have FM. Required wired headphones for the antenna so I stopped right there. I’ll try again soon.

does this method work what do yours think
anyone can update me about this?
would be brilliant to have a local FM tuner on Mate 20 Pro, if possible, somehow !
Is there an improvement in this issue(fm radio on mate 20 pro bcause there is root on the mate 20 pro )
another idea
Did anyone try to transfer the radio from mate 20? After all, these are the same processors, so I suppose that it should work ... Next radio unfortunately does not work for me after connecting the headphones
