root and ota updates - Honor 10 Questions & Answers

Hi, I want to root my phone, I have a COL-L29 build 8.1.0.148, I found a guide to root:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-10/how-to/magisk-root-honor-10-t3785807
But I have some questions, I always had my phones with custom roms, if I root my honor 10, what happens to updates?
Can I update without risks? or I need to remove root and relock bootloader at every ota?
Thanks (and yes, I have bootloader unlock code)

You only need to flash back the (correct) stock ramdisk to remove Magisk. Then you can patch the OTA updates normally and afterwards re-root it again by flashing the (updated) ramdisk with Magisk again.

I am using twrp so I can't update ota but I can flash whole new update through Huawei firmware Finder

[Q] Latest rooting method

Hi all,
I am completely new to all this, I am on Stock firmware and locked bootloader.
1) Is it possible to root my phone without unlocking bootloader? If yes, then please provide a link for that
2) What is the fastest method for rooting at present? (Any one-click rooting apps/software?)
I am on stock latest 4.4.4 firmware (India)
Thanks in advance

yes first you have downgrade to the firmware - 26.1.A.1.112
i had the same device , do everything in this guide , make sure you download the 26.1.A.1.112 firmware when you downgrade from 26.1.A.2.167
+you can also backup the TA Partition after rooting (For warranty)

flashing a marshmallow ROM on a 5.1 unlocked and rooted E5533

hi
I want to update to marshmallow for my sony c5 ultra dual (E5533?).
the device is rooted and unlocked and I have removed some system app(bloatware basically) and disabled some others.
now my question is this: if I want to update to marshmallow(6) but don't need to have root and/or unlocked status, can I do that easily ? the guides here are for having root and unlock and keeping it after the updates. I don't need the root.
if the answer is yes ( and please explain the steps and files needed) if in future I again need root and/or unlocked for twrp ,can I do that later again?

Bootloader unlock after EMUI 9 update

Hello!
I recently bought the 8" M5 without realising the hoops I'd have to jump through to unlock the bootloader.
After getting lucky and being able to downgrade to FW163 I have successfully unlocked the bootloader and I've been running a treble rom. Yesterday I wanted to try out an OpenKirin rom, so I flashed the stock EMUI 8 firmware in order to then flash the OpenKirin rom.
After flashing stock I realised my bootloader was relocked - not a big issue as I still had the unlock code and I was still on FW163.
My question is - if I upgrade to EMUI 9 ota will this relock my bootloader the same as manually flashing 163 did, and if so, will I still be able to unlock on higher FW versions since I already have the unlock code? As far as I'm aware the issue we were faced with was actually obtaining the unlock code after official support ended, so in theory now that I have the code I should be able to unlock on any firmware, right?
Thanks!

Theoritically said, yes, because the xloader have those kind of hexes that stay the same even after updating the firmware and the xloader and as additional info, I'm now on Omnirom for EMUI 9 vendor from Openkirin team and I can download the EMUI from eRecovery without getting my bootloader locked

Unlock BL and keep the official ROM.

Can I unlock bootloader, flash twrp but keep the original ROM?
I want to root the phone too, but keep the original ROM.
Will I receive OTA after that?
Thanks in advance.
you can unlock and have twrp and root ofc. but you won't receive ota updates anymore. There is a guide for both having magisk and receiving OTAs but it did not work for me. Anyway I am using pixel xp rom and I like it. Will not use stock anymore
