Data Encryption Unsuccessful (On Both Rooted & Stock Non-Rooted) ROM - Xperia Z2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm so lost and confused over this since yesterday...
so 2 days ago my phone started lagging and hanging and freezing until i realized i have got this issue with data encryption
i have a rooted sony z2 with TWRP Custom recovery
first i didn't know it was with data encryption failure so i literally factory reset and installed all my apps and data again and again!!!
On both rooted and non rooted rom ....
after every time my phone started to lag !!
after one whole day of trying everything i finally realized its actually with the data encryption and i should change my ex4 to something else... so here again i wiped the phone and changed to ex3 and installed and all my data and apps all over again
but after a couple hours...same problem again.....
im literally so tired of not knowing what to do ! my head hurts so much due this ugh....
Please help me get rid of this issue thanks ...!

Hey, i would flash the full stock rom without root and twrp and look. I think it is a problem with the twrp recovery.
On my V30 with Oreo we should flash a zip that disable data encryption after some modification in Recovery.
Just try for a week the full stock rom.

Well i have already tried using the stock ROM without any root or recovery !!
and its still the same
however im not sure whats the zip file u r talking about and where i can get it for my Sony z2 D6502...
By the way i just thought it might be another reason that my device is lagging so much after installing like 30/40 apps.
i have overclocked my CPU with root and even after flashing the stock rom i feel like CPU settings hasn't been reset? is it possible?
its always on end MAX and less Min value on both stock/pre root rom my CPU gets very hot on TWRP specially, its more than 70Celcious so i thought maybe its a hardware issue and my CPU is overheating bcuz its old or something... and i should prolly change my CPU ?
i really don't understand whats wrong with my phone and im so confused about what to do

I had here a Z1 and Z2 both was my previous phones.
I didnt experienced such problems except i backup or restore anything in TWRP.
My questions for you are:
On which Version are you now?
What do you done exactly before the problem starts?
Get a Monitor App from Playstore and look what cause this high load. Or you take a look in the Developers Option for this.
We got here a not tasty problem, maybe you backup your whole data and reset all to stock and don't install any apps, after a while installing step by step your apps.

I dont think if its even about TWRP because i even installed the stock rom with Flashtool and started installing my apps one by one and after a couple hrs device started lagging and freezing and odd how Wifi gets soooo slow ! (like everything gets slow in it) and also when i reboot the phone it oddly takes long time on boot menu to load .
im not sure if i did anything to cause it tbh...
it just happened on a normal day...
it gets soooo slow and leaves no other way for me but factory reset option...
i have the latest rom 23.5.A.1.291
the only time i can get it temporary fixed is when i backup the rom on TWRP and factory reset the Rom and Restore it back!
and everything is working fast and fine again only for like 6 or less hours...
and while data is restoring TWRP shows the CPU Temp on +80C !! Is this normal?
Btw i have a unlocked bootloader.
do u have any idea what i should do?

Yes i do! You need a structure by fixing a problem, my plan is:
You must explorer the problem why your phone get so laggy.
Perform a factory reset and use your phone for 1 Day with this stock setup. (Dont restore your old apps or data)
Look often into the Task Manager to show what cause the cpu load.

[Q]Is anyone still running stock JFD?

My hubby's been having an issues on his mobile that I've never seen before.
Issue 1: His phone would randomly go back to sleep upon waking.
Sometimes this happens while we're just waking the phone and sliding the lockscreen. So it's like the phone is asleep, we hit power, slide the lockscreen - phone immediately goes back to sleep.
Issue 2: Call issues.
I'm not sure if this is subject to software or not but sometimes this phone will not ring when receiving calls. The problem is a bit intermittent but it's still quite annoying.
Issue 3: OS slowing down.
Generally, his phone runs fine in terms of speed but at other times, it can be slow as molasses. The sad part is that his phone has the smaller SD card and the least amount of media in between the 2 of us.
I would just root and flash something on it but it is his phone and he isn't really that comfortable with the idea of messing around with the firmware and such. So I guess my question is does anyone have any advice on how to fix these issues?
I'm not sure if this will work but your best bet is to Odin the stock JFD again to see if it fixes anything. Be sure to back up apps & data.

If the OP doesn't want to mess around with the phone that much, flashing something through Odin is probably more complicated than rooting the phone (takes one click) and trying One Click LagFix (OCLF).
No matter what you do (to the OP) make sure you use Titanium to backup apps and data just in case

Well, it isn't my phone to mess with in the first place, otherwise that thing would be on a Bionix-V ROM like mine is. Even today, the stupid phone crashed and he lost his unlock. It was by pure luck I retained the code we got from T-mobile.
Update it via Kies to KA6, KA6 runs pretty well. Enable USB Debug, and it should go without a hitch.
Root it.
Install rom manager
Load rom manager
clear dalvik cache
Uninstall rom manager
unroot it

Yeah, I think I'll do this first and see how it runs for the next few days.
Just one q: When I uninstall ROM manager, will CWR also be wiped at the same time or will I also have to find another way to uninstall it?

please help!!!! random reboots with mutiple roms..

for some reason every rom I flash works great until I Install my apps. Now I use Titanium for my backup and installation of all my apps . Ive ran a scan in my app data and everything is clean. Ive even gone so far as to manually download every app I have from the market one by one . But every time I finally get everything set up and customized the way I want my phone start rebooting every 5 min.it reboots and loads everything fine and once i start using my phone my soft keys stop working but my screens touch works fine I can scroll click on things etc . thats when I know its going to reboot.then it starts every five minutes... now Ive used Cyanogen 9,Mikrom,Viper,Synergy and every one does this. Of course I do a complete wipe of all my data ,cache and partitions etc before I flash Every rom but nothing helps. Ive gone through the process of factory resets and wiping everything at least 10 times with each rom. Upon my days and hours apon hours of research the only suggestions I found was the possibility of a corrupted partition, and to re-install the ruu to completely clean all partitions and set everything back to original then try again . so I did , then I rerooted and and flashed a rom. with the same results. i know its either something Im doing or not doing thats causing this because to have his happen with every rom I flash isnt just the rom. now ..when Im on my stock rom I dont have this issue . so I know Its not a hardware issue. its just when I flash a new rom.
and another thing I noticed is after a couple random reboots it takes a while to connect to my 3g and turn my signal on. in fact sometimes it wont automatically connect until i open my connection in settings. I dont have to click on connect or anything ,all i have to do is basically open my settings or my quick toggles in my navigation bar.
and on a side note. well maybe its a side note maybe might be the actual cause of the problem haha.. when i do a factory reset through recovery everything works fine but i get an error [E: format_volume: make_extf4fs failed on /dev/block/mmcblk1p2] but everything finishes and resets fine as far as I know ... but could this be whats causing these reboots? when i look through my file explorer I find all of the mmcblk files but it seems that this file is the only one not there. can I fix this ?
Evo3d cdma rooted s-off hboot 1.4 revolutionary
Your "side note" might just be your problem. Have you tried a factory reset with another recovery, or maybe redownload and flash the same recovery.
Also, are you restoring data for system apps with titanium backup?
Are you flashing the correct hboot for the Rom you're installing?

I redownloaded and installed the same recovery when I unrooted and rerooted ...is there another recovery you suggest trying ? I used the recovery that came with the revolutionary.zip
No I'm just restoring user apps from the market and 3rd party downloaders (4shared etc.)
And as far as the h.boot. when i was downgrading my h.boot to 1.4 ,after I downgraded my bootloader said 1.4 but I couldn't root through revolutionary . And I found that I needed to downgrade my software from 2.18.... In order for me to be truly at 1.4 hboot and run revolutionary. So I did and it worked perfectly . So now my software is 1.13.651.7. To be honest I wasn't sure if me upgrading to a newer software and running a newer RUU (not an ota ,just higher than 1.13...if it would cause any problems with my root as far as upgrading my h.boot to one that doesn't work with revolutionary as I had that issue with trying to root originaly.

So I think its something to do with me moving my apps to sd. I only move my user apps and use titanium to do so. Now I have all my apps restored from titanium but didn't move any to sd and I havent had any reboots ...my internal memory is kind of low but its not lagging ... But I can't put any of my games on because they are big on memory . And I'm already low . Does anybody know what's causing my reboots when I move my apps to sd ? Would creating a partition on my sd card fix this ?
Oh and I used a different recovery to do my full wipe ( team wins recovery ) and it didn't give me the error I was getting before . Which is good .but I still got my random reboots .. but I noticed I only get them when I move all my user apps to sd . ( besides my lwps , widgets, system apps and things like setcpu etc.)

[Q] i9300 getting random freeze/hang up irrespective of recover/kernel/rom

This is my first post here so please excuse any violation of rules.
So, I was running CWM recovery + Siyah kernel + CM10.1 + Touchwiz 4.1.2 (dual boot setup) perfectly fine on my Galaxy s 3 for almost a year. But yesterday I decided to update all of those and updated to latest CWM using ROM manager, then changed the kernel to googy max2 and installed CM11. Everything worked properly except that my phone would freeze or hang up randomly at any time(whether swiping through homescreens or updating apps or even during standby). So I changed my ROM to S4 Revoution ROM (tried with both googy max2 and devil kernel). However, even this ROM gave me same hangup problems. So I moved onto TWRP recovery+ OmniRom but still encountered the same problem multiple times. After getting tired of wasting so much time, I came back to my original setup of CWM+Siyah kernel+CM10.1 thinking I wouldn't face this problem again, but to my aghast, the phone would still freeze randomly. Only a power button reboot would help. Please help, I have no idea what might be causing the problem as I have successfully tried every combination of recovery, kernel and ROM but to no avail. And no, I never manually tinkered with any CPU/GPU frequencies or voltages. Your time and help is greatly appreciated, Thank you.
PS: One more very important thing I forgot to mention, CPU-Z shows most of the time all 4 cores of the CPU stay at 1400MHz even though minimum speed is 200MHz. I have noticed this in S4 revolution ROM with googy max2 kernel and pegasusq governor(currently using this setup on my phone). Also, the "devil kernel" app on this ROM shows CPU either stays in deep sleep mode or 1300-1400MHz frequency.
Can't take screenshot for some reason in this ROM otherwise I would have uploaded those too. Thank you.

Did you do a complete wipe before installing all these roms? Wipe Dalvik Cache and Cache partition. I am running WanamLite 7.3 with stock kernel and Wanam Xposed. Here is the link to the rom - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1705866
Reboot into custom recovery. Do a full wipe, even though this rom says that it is not necessary but it is always a good idea to do a full wipe before flashing. Try this out and let's try to fix your problem.

Yes, and not just once, but every time I flashed a new ROM. I'm thinking my only option now is to unroot and go back to stock but i am unable to find my country's rom. (found one on sammobile but the download speed refuses to go beyond 2-3kbps).

Thank you for the suggestion but i'm afraid that would not help as i have already tried 4 different roms, one of which i used for a year without any problem, but still facing the hangup only since yesterday. plus, I have gone through enough trouble restoring my accounts/apps/contacts and all (especially whatsapp) again and again for the whole of yesterday every time i flashed a new rom. the problem is not related to the rom. thank you, again.

See, most of the things in your phone are software related. It is very very rare that you might have damaged the hardware. I see mismanagement of the resources by the ROM or kernel in your phone. What are the steps you are doing when installing a new ROM and which custom recovery are you using?

I did a full wipe, flashed everything again, did the emmc check as well as the dummy file generator thing....the hangups have reduced to 2-3 per day from 2-3 per hour but are still there. Should I downgrade my cwm recovery?
If you are rooted try the COMPLETE unrooting procedure mentioned at various places by flashing the latest stock firmware available from sammobile. This is to make sure your device software is like brand new. Test it for at least a day. Do a mega wipe (erasing everything even on internal SD card) before which can fix it in some cases.
When rooting again make sure you have the most bug free version of the recovery. CWM 6.0.4.4 is known to have minor problems here and there but nothing concerning to this topic.

Hi guys, I experience the same problems: I'm in any app and I press home to go back to the home menu => my phone's freezing for 5 seconds and then I see all my icons/folders/widgets slowly appearing. I would like to know how to complete format my internal SD card like you said. Thanks in advance.
by pressing the powerkey+homebutton+volume up for about 8-10 seconds you are taken to a recovery menu. You can choose to factory reset over there. That fixed problems in most cases. The only way to wipe the internal partition as well would be to install stock firmware which is a part of unrooting, this will erase everything and put a original rom in your phone.. You can follow the unrooting processes written in many posts in xda
Ok thanks for this quick answer ! So the only way to erase the internal SD card is the unrooting method?

As far as i know yes. Its not any trouble at all, wont take much time, except the firmware you would have to download. Its not needed in most cases. As i said before you may only need a factory reset so try that before! And just hit the thanks button

Wi-Fi starts up too slow, Galaxy S4

Hi guys ! Haven't found this thread anywhere so I had to ask.
When I installed a new Stock ROM everything was perfect, but as time went by, my wifi started to turn on slower and slower, now it takes him about 1 minute just to turn on. When I turn it on and go to Settings it just shows a blank page until the wifi turns on.
Please, DO NOT suggest:
1. Cache wiping
2. Safe mode and uninstalling previous apps
3. Wifi boosters
4. Advanced Wifi settings, special menu settings, turning of battery savings etc
Since I have tried all of those options
And yeah, everytime I reinstall a Stock ROM it works like a charm, but I don't have time to do it every 3-4 months just to make wifi fast as a lightning, as installing a new rom takes time and reinstalling all the apps makes me very nervous
Thanks for the answers, stay cool as always !
Other than using another kernel, not really sure what would help with that. I used to have an S4 and work on them often and hadn't seen that kind of thing before. Very odd behavior...

I really have no idea what could it be, I recently factory reseted the phone and Wi-Fi worked again like a charm...
If the problem was kernel, can you recommend me how to find the appropriate one for my ROM and can I add it to the phone through ODIN without resetting the device ?
Thanks for the answer !
Post a screenshot of the About Phone section showing the Build Number of the software. That'll help determine which kernel to try. You'll need a custom recovery such as TWRP to install the kernel. Kernel installs are done through the recovery and only require wiping of cache and dalvik cache, not a factory reset. It's recommended to perform a backup in recovery to be able to restore if the kernel doesn't work or has adverse effects.
Here it is...will have to look up about thie things you just wrote on how to do it, cause I am a 100% dumbass for this

Nexus 9 freezing constantly after Nougat update

Hey, guys. Searched around this forum for this topic but didn't see anything, apologize if it's a duplicate.
Basically my tablet has been freezing constantly since the nougat update. It wasn't happening all that often to begin with but over time it turned into something like once a day to a few times a day. It doesn't follow any usage patterns as far as I can tell (i.e. I use chrome mostly but if I'm on something like one of the regular google apps it might still happen). Once it freezes I have to force shutdown via power button. Every now and then it will freeze and restart itself without my having to force shutdown.
It's stock ROM, with virtually stock apps (dropbox is the only downloaded app). I read about some solutions which I've already tried, and so I wiped the cache, did a factory reset, have about 5gb free storage space, and the issues are still the same.
Any suggestions? Thanks

YAY!!! someone else!
Can you try something for me. Flash this kernel FIRE-ICE N K10.5.3 (K10.5.4 seems to be having problems ATM)
i think your problem will be fixed.... please let me know! :highfive:
Hi, thanks for replying. I absolutely can do that but I literally have no experience flashing kernels. I assume it's same as flashing a rom but If you could provide some instructions for me I'd appreciate that. It's been a long time since I've even done that and I'd want to make sure I don't screw anything up.

Yes TWRP
Question did you unlock your bootloader?
honestly i don't remember. some time ago my n9 got stuck in some weird bootloop. i had to run the RUU (i think that's what it was) to restore everything back to completely normal. so if me having to do that meant i unlocked the bootloader then yes i did. if not, then i wouldn't have done it.
