hope it will be fixed by next version software
even turn off the front camera beautification mode, still it do some beautifying by itself.

I see apple trends going on. Price, beauty mode pre-installed,no screen protector nor free cover from the box. P30 Pro you won't even get usb-c to jack dongle.

I was suppose to pre-order this and was waiting for long time, but now bit in confusion by using for couple days ..,

Bobovr z5 3d ?

Anyone tried the BOBOVR Z5 3D with the XZ Premium? What's your impressions?
Do U know the answer yet. I want to buy it as well but I don't know if it will work.
There is no reason why it wouldn't work. There no tech inside the Bobo Z5, so it will be compatible with anything that fits between...... just a well made cardboard.
As I own both XZP and Bobo Z5 I can tell you following facts:
- the FOV is no where near 120° , it depends on your eye to lens and lens to phone display distance as well as the ipd distance , I have almost the perfect average ipd with 65mm and with the best settings I found so far, I have somewhere around 80-90° FOV by guessing in comparison with my 2016 GearVR (assuming this has exactly 90°fov)
- the lenses seem to be good, better than GVR 2016 , the image stays clear within peripheral vision , that was not the case with the Samsung
- Headphones are a plus, If they were bluetooth, they would have been better, cable does often come in the way while putting your phone in
- be aware of having to set up the headset for your needs , takes some time with calibration, I would recommend sitesinvr , they offer a calibration tool and the possibility to export your config to a qr code you can scan afterwards to overwrite the standard cardboard preset
- bobovr's own qr code isn't working properly, you will most likely get a fisheye view then
- not the most comfortable headset , but I'm pretty sure there is alot worse hardware available, it sits pretty good on your head, backstrap with knob to tighten is a bit uncomfortable if you are leaning with the back of your head on the sofa or anywhere else , a flex-strap system like samsung would be more shaky but more comfortable
- lenses do not fog up easyly , this is a big plus
- I would recommend inserting the xzp into the z5 without any cases around. It is perfectly possible (I have a Spigen Rugged armor case) alignment / image quality is slightly improved with the case removed)
Overall:
- cardboard image drifting sucks !!
- 4K screen is a big plus compared to my old galaxy s6 2560x1440 display
-XZP's LCD screen is alot slower than Samsungs Oleds , but this tradeoff might be ok if you do not look around too much etc.
I have it since october.
Yes, bobo VR Z5! It works great but keep in mind without tempered glass screenprotector.
Ittook over 1 month to come from china, and the remote was discharged so I jump started the battery 3-4 times with 5v for one second and it did charge after.
I have it like new. thinking to sell it ...
how much do you offer?
i bought some years ago bobo4 just because want to try 4k video in VR, because try ps4 vr and ps display not 4k but picture was very cool realistic in games, and i though with 4k xzp display picture will be more better...but i can't normaly cinfigurate bobo4 and xzp to watch 4k videos youtube or other videos and other things like games, videos very ugly and i see pixels and other.... or may be because bobo4 it's piece of **** don't know, but I was very disappointed in VR and did not touch this bobo again.....

Huawei P30 Pro Unboxing - What comes in the box? Whats new?

Fellow Members I have the Huawei P30 Pro and since I have unboxed it I have been getting asked what comes in the box and what is differnet or new over the P20 Pro. I have made a video about this the link is https://youtu.be/gav37hRpYn0 however please read this post fully as it may save you time over watching the whole video. Any questions please let me know down below and I will try my best to answer them.
The Box is classic Huawei, smart, classy and very clean, opening it reveals my brand new P30 Pro in the shiny black which never goes out of style. We also have a sim ejection tool packaged alongside the usual booklets and paperwork which lets be honest no one reads. And finally in the bottom of the box I spy the Huawei Super charger, a usb c charging cable and a set of usb c earphones, BUT NO DONGLE OR CASE in my box!!!!
Taking a closer look at the P30 Pro its obvious to see the ergonomic design where the handset is dual curved from the front and back panels. On the matte finished frame up top, there is a microphone and an IR blaster. On the right side we have the volume rocker above the power button. At the bottom of the device there is a speaker grill, usb c charging port, microphone and sim card / memory card tray. On the back of the P30 Pro the finish on my unit is a glossy glass with some Huawei and Leica branding beneath the new cameras. Which are 20mp ultrawide angle, 40mp super Spectrum and 8mp 5 times optical periscope zoom lens and not forgetting the TOF sensor under the flash. I will go into more details about the cameras in another video but rest assured these cameras are even better than the P20 Pro. With 5 times optical zoom, 10 times lossless hybrid zoom and 50 times digital zoom coupled with dual OIS and an ISO over 409000 these lenses produce results which are jaw dropping. The 6.47in OLED 19.5:9 FHD+ screen is a beauty as Huawei decided to go with a tiny tear drop notch which houses the 32mp selfie camera and face unlock technology. There is also an in screen Fingerprint sensor which now is lightening fast and extremely accurate.
An improvement over the P20 Pro is the addition. Of fast wireless charging at 15 watts and the ability to charge another QI enabled product using reverse wireless charging which Huawei were the first to bring to market. Luckily Huawei have included a 4200 mah battery meaning the P30 Pro is a power users dream easily able to give all day usage. I noticed there is no earpiece above the notch in fact there is no earpiece cut out anywhere, Huawei have used a new technology called Huawei acoustic display technology where the sound for phone calls comes through the screen as that’s where the speaker is housed.
Finally whats under the hood? The Kirin 980 with dual NPU, 8gb of RAM, 128 or 512gb of built in storage which is expandable. With all this power it is vital that the heat is rapidly dispersed, Huawei have included a cooling design with graphene layers and an advanced heat pipe. Topping this all off the P30 Pro is running EMUI 9.1 and Android pie straight out of the box and for added protection it has IP68 water and dust resistance.
Earbuds, charger, thats it.
Here in Italy, you get a clear case if you order from Amazon. I picked mine up at a large electronics retailer and there was no case.
UK versions have no case.
In Cyprus i got the device and the usuall stuff. No gel case for free this time.
Mine came in a big box with the GT watch, gel case, and a free huawei quick wireless charger on the side.
I have the L29.
In china, clear case, charger and earbuds.

How I learned to love the camera

Hi.
Like some that bought this phone I found the out of box experience on the camera a bit underwhelming and the pro app very confusing, after a bit of reading and searching and fiddling I've got it setup so I'm very happy with the results. It's not a low light or HDR monster like some camera systems but you can get some pretty nice results easily if the settings are tamed back a bit. So I thought I'd share what works for me.
Over the last few years I've had OnePlus 7t pro, LG V50, Xiaomi K20 Pro / Poco F1, HTC U12+/ HTC 10 and had a reasonable GCam on all of them and going to the Sony system was a bit of a culture shock, but the small form factor, flagship specs, SD card and 3.5mm socket are what I wanted.
BTW, I am not a Photographer or an expert by any means so if I've got anything wrong I'm happy to correct, or if anyone has more Tips and Tricks please post to this thread.
To start.
Use the Pro app AUTO mode for most pictures. It gives more consistent results than the standard camera app and can easily be set as the default.
Go to the basic camera app settings, scroll down to Launch with camera key and set to Photography Pro, this means when you hold the shutter button it'll start the Pro app by default not the Basic app.
Double click the power button and you can set the Camera app as default, that way both apps are easily accessible with the screen off, useful for video.
Make sure the Case you use allows for the 2 step shutter button, the first case I had made the button really stiff so 99% of the time I was just clicking for a shot not locking the settings with a half press.
Open up the Pro app and press the Disp option until you have the Histogram and viewfinder showing. There's plenty of Youtube videos explaining what a histogram is and how it works, it's no guarantee of a great picture but it will be an indication of a bad one.
Don't get too bogged down in all the options, I spent weeks tweaking Exposure/ISO/Shutter speeds without really understanding what I was up to and if you do understand all those options I guess this guide isn't for you!
My settings for consistent results, check out the screenshot in this link
Xperia 5 II XQ-AS52/XQ-AS62/XQ-AS72 | Help Guide | Launching Photo Pro (Photography Pro)
Drive Mode - Single Shooting
Focus Mode - Continuous AF
Focus Area - Centre
Face/Eye AF - On
JPEG
Aspect Ratio - 4:3 (12mp)
With those settings you can point, preload by half a click and get a reasonable shot most of the time. With the fancy auto multi focus wide settings I was always getting blurred pictures of my dog when he's running around due to the camera trying to focus on him then picking a random object in the frame so by the time I clicked for the picture it was a mess.
When you have a half click loaded, move the centre box around and see what the preview and Histogram is showing, if there's a hard line hitting the top at either the left or right hand side it's either too dark or too light. By moving the centre of the image slightly the camera should adjust the exposure slightly to stop the clipping.
The only other setting I tend to play with is S, click the AUTO button and scroll down to S mode. This allows changing of the shutter speed. This way you can capture faster moving objects in good light or slow down the capture speed in bad light. Here's where the Histogram is useful because if you set the Shutter too high, bright sky will clip and a bright blue sky will be white or you'll end up with a dark fuzzy picture. It's not worth going above 320 or below 80 unless it's in exceptional conditions.
I've attached some recent samples below.
Hope that helps!
Thanks for the detailed writeup. You're more on your way to be a photographer than you give yourself credit for...
Thanks! I learned more from this than reading a truly terrible book about the subject
I always use PhotoPro-Auto.

That's a great picture.
And you're welcome, I'm a bit tired of seeing posts saying how bad the camera is on this little phone. It does require a bit more work than a point and click phone but it's so worth it.
Nice reading and I also agree: this phone has a good camera and we just need to understand it.
IMHO the colour calibration seems to be very good.
Even in "point-and-shoot" mode with the default camera I usually get good results.
(true, I already got some surprises with light reflections at night)
After reading this post, I took the phone and turned all lights out in my inner room where I was.
Pointed to my Buddha friend and done. No much thinking. The whole process between grabbing the phone, turning lights out, taking the picture and coming back to my laptop to write this took less than 90 sec.
PS: I don't master any photography technique, and therefore I rely on the device setup and common sense.
I agree with the color calibration. It's very close to my Sony A7RIV when I've taken comparison pictures...at least comparing RAW files in Lightroom. One of my biggest frustrations with the P30 Pro was the colors of the RAW files are very off using the main sensor, and no software can easily fix it. The 5 II files are easy to work with and give good results.
Enjoyed the OP but I use the Program Mode. I live in the tropics in a mountain value and I use the EV control a lot. The rest of my settings are usually the same as given in the OP.
Here is a link to a YouTube video from a photographer who makes it quite clear that the camera system on the Xperia 5 II is not a "professional grade" system but has a place for people who enjoy producing photos.
I just wanted to add that every digital camera I've bought, stand-alone or phone, since 1998 has been defective....for 10 days to two weeks. Once I'd used it for a few hundred photos and read manuals and tutorials the cameras improved markedly.

Mi 10 ultra wide camera

Hi to all I have problem in my Mi 10 camera ultra wide camera hang then I need to close camera app main camera lens and micro working ok
Hi, do you still face that problem? I bought a used Mi 10 with broken screen a month ago to sell it with a better price. I launched a camera, tested main functions including all cameras and haven't experienced any problem. I guess it was one of the previous generations because after update they introduced me a new a'la iOS notification panel. I decided to update software - because why not - now it's MIUI 13, and didn't check remaining functions. After all I took the phone apart and replaced the screen. I tested everything and I got scared because of the ultrawide lens. Now I don't know if the reason was too big pressure put on the UW lens to glue the screen, I put extra soft layers on screen and a battery cover to properly distribute weight (I already repaired a few phones and none of them got damaged in any way) taking care about a cameras' island.
Also I bought another cameras' island and unfortunately there's no difference.
I'll try to downgrade the OS to the oldest version and let you know about the result.
Always you can successfully access the stock camera by 3D touch on main screen and select among a few modes: Pro, Photo and Video

Question Question for buying this phone

I want to buy this phone but i saw that for getting good photos you need to use the pro mode. How is the camera for point&shot? How is the selfie camera vs the Google pixel?
How is the battery life?
well. "pro mode" also has 2 automatic modes so you can use that. But TBH, since f stop is fixed, all you can change is ISO or shutter speed so none non them is that difficult if you were ever using any real camera. For selfie......have no idea. Never took a selfie and never did a video call.
Battery life is better than expected but ofc depends on what you will be doing and what do you expect

well I have the Purple USA version on pre-order, I did use the global version and loved the phone, battery was decent, I loved the flat screen, sd card, the LED notification, and the size, from the few pics I did take, they looked very good, but I only had the Xperia 1 IV global version for 3 days, , so I wasn`t able to put it through it`s paces for the camera, so I sent back to the seller, because it was missing some bands for 5G service here in the USA, I`m waiting on my Pixel 6 Pro to be checked in the Texas return warehouse, so they can send me a new replacement it boot-looped and hard brick, so when I get my new replacement 6 pro and when the USA Xperia 1 IV ships on the 22nd of this month I will be able to do better comparison between the 6 pro and Xperia 1 IV, but people will say if you just want to do point and shoot and not fiddle with settings the 6 pro might be the better phone for you, but I love the features of the Sony like the old days of android phones flat screen, microSD card, led notification, plus with 4K screen , dedicated camera button, and the speakers are lot louder on the IV compared to the III., selfie camera I never tried on the Xperia 1 IV, so hopefully Sony doesn`t delay the launch again for the USA version, since it was supposed to have been released on Sept. 1.
Im asking about point&shoot to get excellent results like pixel 6 pro or iphone 13 pro
I dont want to mess with pro mode
I like this phone for its flat panel and the size, battery seems to be better than pixel 6 pro, but its very important to me to take out the phone and shoot and get very good results
You may disagree with me but frankly I think you're better off shooting in Pro mode all the time. Spend the time to learn it and you'll enjoy it for ever. My 2 penny worth...
you don't have to mess with pro mode, you can select auto then set that as default mode for each time you start photography pro. And results are OK. For a phone camera. But if you prefer that artificial look of pixels, iphones, samsung and night that looks like you are on the stadium in the middle of the game than you might be disappointed.
The whole point of xperias was always to try to capture something realistic and not to have the best on the fly photoshop processing.
Guys
My point is not night mode
I want to take auto mode good photos for 1500usd it should be, but the reviews are mixed about results so i prefer real opinions of people who have it.
How is the selfie camera?
Is the phone really gets hot or they fixed it?
I have the pixel 6 pro but i hate is size, curved display, disappointing battery and no 5G in my country
But i like is goddess camera
I'll try to take some photos tomorrow with different modes but the same subject so you can judge them.
Phone does get hot mostly if you are doing 4k recordings, but don't have any experience with that. Camera is not why I got this phone. My old XZ2 was way hotter than this ever gets.
From the sound of things this phone is not for you.
