Update 1 : Currently, this doesn't work on stock rom for some reason, maybe wait for November update if you want to stay on stock. This has been tested on several custom roms like havoc, carbon and liquidremix pie roms.
Update 2 : People on stock rom can try this combination and check again. Phone app version 24 and Play services 14.5.70. Someone got it to work on stock rom on reddit.**
Update 3 : No need to mess with any app versions from November update. Just modify the files. It should work.
Steps to enable Call Screening :
1. Make sure you are rooted and have the latest version of the app, Google Phone 25, installed. You can root your device by finding the right links here. To join the beta channel of the Google Phone app, head to the Google Play Store listing and look for the beta option. You can also download the APK from apkmirror and sideload it manually.
Side Note : I have tested it on following version :
Google Phone V25
Play Services 14.5.70(100400-217905028)
2. Download any root-enabled file explorer like FX File Explorer or MiXplorer. I did it using MiXplorer.
3. Open the explorer and navigate to the root directory from the left-side navigation menu.
4. Navigate to /data/data/com.google.android.dialer/shared_prefs and look for the file named dialer_phenotype_flags.xml.
5. Change the following flags to true, (Locale flags are optional and may not appear in your XML file and can be ignored if you have your default language to English(US) in Google App) :

6. Force stop the Google Dialer
7. Open Dialer and go to settings, you will see a new Call screen menu. Open the menu and wait for supplementary file required for Call Screen to be downloaded.
8. Voila. Enjoy.
Other things to remember:
1. During Step 7, you have to be on an Wifi Connection, it doesn't download the files otherwise and functionality won't work correctly. Also, if you are using a mobile hotspot as a Wifi Connection, set it to unmetered from Wifi Settings before opening the Call Screen menu from dialer.
2. This mod works along with Dark Mode and New favorites flags, so you can enable them too if required :

3. I have tested this on Havoc-OS for now. Testers from other custom ROMs with latest gapps are welcome to try it if it works on yours. I tried the same on stock, but even after manually updating my play services to the version mentioned above, I couldn't get it to run as Play services had some trouble with Phone permissions even though everything was enabled.
4. I have tested it on P2XL. But ideally it should also work on P2 and maybe even P1.
Tested on OG Pixel stock, followed all steps correctly, no luck.

I think you are on the correct version. There was a slight error in the OP. The play services version is v14.5.70.

Yep. Correct versions. Do you get any error when you reboot regarding action services having trouble with play services ?
Also, did you install these updates manually or through play store ?
Lets wait for people on other roms and their experiences.
Maybe its something to do with stock rom then.

I think then stock is no go for now unless someone figures it out. It didn't work for me on stock too, then i switched to havoc and it worked in one shot. Havoc had latest play services/dialer pre-installed.
Works!!
Followed the steps and it works perfectly!! Didn't run into any errors.. got it first attempt!

Me and Legents both got it working on Havoc without any issues. We both were also enrolled for beta channels for google app and play services.

Since I have updated my phone to CM 12.1 I am not able to install apps that are being shared by my friends. Also I am not able to install apps unless they are downloaded by play store. Adding to this I am also not able to turn on accessibility option for some apps like Greenify ,Nova launcher etc . Please suggest me a way to fix it , if so that would be great .

I am not responsible for exploding devices!! Nothing should go wrong, as this doesn't touch anything super-sensitive, but just in case...
Tested on Pure Nexus w/ Pure Nexus dynamic gapps. This should also work with Open GApps. (And I guess Fake Nexus, though I think the camera works well out-of-the-box on that one...?)
On (most?) current Nexus 5 Nougat ROMs, attempting to take a photo via Google Camera with HDR+ will just take a regular photo. (The included stock camera doesn't even have an HDR+ option!) The "fix" is to downgrade to an older version (2.8) of Google Camera.
Problem is, that's kind of annoying. In addition, the Play Store will keep trying to update it to the newest version unless you re-sign. Not good!
So I made a flashable zip! Just pop it onto your SD card, flash in TWRP, and the proper Google Camera will be installed, signed with a custom key to prevent the Play Store from updating it.
Enjoy!
NOTE: This does not fix the video recording issues, only the HDR+ not working. You still need to use stock camera for videos.

True. At the same time, a [WORKAROUND] tag isn't allowed, so that's why I used [FIX].

Sorry about that! I just updated the zip file again. I had made a mistake with regards to the way it was signed.
It should work now. If it doesn't, could you hit Copy Log inside the Advanced section of TWRP and then upload

No, it's 2.8. 4.2's HDR+ doesn't work on the Nexus 5 Nougat ROMs.
I uninstalled v4 . then flashed 3.2 and unchecked google camera automatic update from playstore ( right up corner) . why to downgrade to v2.8 if v3.2 also work?

Huh...on my device, 3.2 HDR+ still didn't work.
Also, for me, I already have auto-update off, but I usually just like to click "UPDATE ALL" without the camera updating, too.

ROM issue maybe. Im currently using Fake Nexus ROM and 3.2 HDR worked fine.
This isnt actually a fix, for me GCam 3.2 works on Nougat with HDR+

Ok. I noticed now that video don' t work . green flicker if i look after recording. But hdr works great.
Anyway video have been always crap in our device, so i don´t use it.

Just figured it out. I updated the zip again; it should work perfectly now!

First cam uploaded works perfectly on aicp 7.1 rom.
Hdr and video.

As soon as I enable HDR+, the app force closes.
Could it be a conflict with the already installed camera?

It works very very well, with a new camera app that includes a better HDR mode, along HDR auto mode, quick setting toggles, and lot of features and optimizations

This rom do not have Google service or Playstore, its stock China rom. A lot of Google force close when you install Google service and Playstore. FC seems never stop so it's headache unless you can stop the FC.

I am using open gapp pico, all Google apps work perfectly.
I deleted some apps in ROM that I don't like, now it's pretty clean for me.
There is a small problems that, when set to English display, some menus are not shown correctly, looks those menus are in Chinese and not translated to English.
CBG 28S v2 also work fine for me, it come with Google service and Playstore, debloated most Chinese apps

Tried practically all versions of Google Play Service but still no luck. Keep getting the Google Services had stopped message. Removed the Google account and added it back, then I got the Problem in Communicating with Google Server. Had to revert back to 026S and wait for the official OTA update.
Is there any way to install google phone app on poco without root. M on latest stable pie.

Install the APK from APK mirror and set it as default dialer app.

Google Phone requires a certain framework built in the rom to have native support. However you can install a patched one instead found here:

Phone not working properly
My Phone dialer app did not show proper in-call screen, so calls made cannot be cancele unless force stopping the Phone app. Any fixes can be made? Thanks a lot anyways, great mod for sure.
