Another tablet with shared antennas... - Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 Questions & Answers

Hey Guys/Gals,
Has anyone else noticed that if you are streaming Netflix/YouTube and trying to use bluetooth headphones, that the streaming keeps pausing, but if you disconnect the headphones the streaming runs as normal.
I think this normally happens with a shared antenna design, like the Huawei MediaPad M3 & M5.
Headphones in question, WH-1000XM2.
ROM is Xiaomi.eu MIUI10 10.2 8.11.1 (xiaomi.eu_multi_MIPAD4_8.11.1_v10-8.1.zip).
Does anyone know of a decent, not 500USD tablet that can do this basic thing properly?
Thanks

[Q][CM10][CM9][Bluetooth] Bluetooth headset not working on CM9/10 , but on stock

Hi there,
my bluetooth headset (Plantronics voyager hd pro) is not working with my i9300 running on CM9stable or CM10nightly. It connects, but when I stream music, the connection is interrupted every 2 sec. When I do voicecalls, the sound quality is a real torture.
The headset works flawlessly when I run stock rom or on my old i9000/Cm9.
Does this look like a hardware deficiency on my i9300 ?
I still can return the phone though.
Thanks for your thoughts
Its always kind of been a problem with Bluetooth working with CM10. they are looking into finding a fix though.
yeah, well, what worries me is that cm9 is not working either, which is supposed to be working
I guess I am gonna return it ...

[Q] Bluetooth Streaming Issue

Hi, I am having issues with bluetooth music streaming with this phone. I have a Tunelink dongle in my car which works perfectly fine with my GS2. However with OG I get very noticeable background noise and music skips every 15-20 seconds which is the worst part. I have not tested this with another BT device yet, but was wondering if anyone had a similar issue?
I'm getting this same issue with my tunelink. I have the Sprint variant..
Could it be that tunelink isn't working properly? Have you tried any other bluetooth devices?
Mine works perfectly streaming into my car's factory audio system with bluetooth.....

Since the OP's problem is the same, since he has tunelink.. It might because of the receiver. Has anyone else tested this phone's bluetooth with another receiver? belkin's?

Same here. Works better than my old GS2 with my Clarion deck. It also works great with my wife's Bose Soundlink speaker.
I am pretty sure its a compatibility issue with tunelink. I got myself a gogroove smartmini and it works great. Tunelink works fine with my gs2 and wife's HTC, though.

What version of Bluetooth does Tunelink use? Maybe it's an older version (like 1.0) that the OG doesn't support.
I just got a email back from TuneLink
Hi Josh
Unfortunately we don't have an Optimus G to test with. I looked up the specs and it says that it runs Android version 4.0.4 with a planned upgrade to 4.1.2. What I know is that we did experience difficulties with Bluetooth on early versions of the Android 4.0 series but for the most part, they appeared to be fixed with 4.0.4 but I can't say that that's true for all Android devices as the Bluetooth hardware differs from device to device. The one thing they all have in common is that all Android Bluetooth drivers need to be able to integrate with the BlueZ Bluetooth protocol stack of the kernel. That said, if the audio is skipping, maybe try closing all unused apps to free up resources and see if that makes a difference. If you're streaming over the internet, try playing music locally. If possible try it with another A2DP Bluetooth device. I will put the word out around here and see if we can get an Optimus G to test as well. I would also send an email to LG's support and ask them if they have any known issues with A2DP. Note that if your TuneLink has firmware version 1.2.0 or greater then it supports Bluetooth version 4.0 minus the low power option. Prior versions support Bluetooth 2.1 +EDR. Also we only support the SBC codec.
Thanks
Mark

I just installed a Pioneer Car Stereo with Parrot bluetooth and I noticed noise, pops, hisses and complete music skips with an AT&T LG OG but streaming from a Nokia Lumia 920 to the same radio was fine and dandy. I think the issue is the phone.

Bluetooth issue following upgrade to B131

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone is having any issue with the audio quality car stereo bluetooth connection after upgrading to ALP-L29C636 B131? It's currently unusable for me as the connection is very choppy when connected to my car stereo, but everything is fine when I'm using it Samsung Icon Bluetooth earphone. Any suggestion to fix this issue other than factory reset or wait for the new firmware update? By the way I upgraded from b129 to b131 using Funky Huawei method.
Cheers

Have you tried deleting your car's Bluetooth entry from the 'phone, then re-pairing them?
Hello i am comming from ALP29 B636 and with 131 build and experience same problem special with music high freq. it seems like over amplified sound. Have never experience that on 128.

I am having the same issue. **** I'm mad. I tested with my wife's p20 pro and the choppy sound issue is not there. Shame on you Huawei.

Wifi speed slow when bluetooth is on

I've got the 8" version and I noticed that when I connect a bluetooth headphone or speaker the wifi slow down to less than 1 mbps while playing music or video. Can anyone test if it's a common problem or is it just my unit?
Thanks.
PD: sorry for my english if I made any mistakes.

I don't own the MediaPad M5, but i have a MediaPad M3, and it does indeed have the same problem. I was wondering about getting an M5, but if it have the same problem, i am a little skeptical.

Well as WiFi and Bluetooth use the same frequencies there is always an interference between them especially if you have two streams in parallel (downloading the music file and transmitting to the head phones). You could try to use 5GHz for WiFi in that case Bluetooth should not be affected.

This isn't a minor interference, it makes wifi almost useless. Less than 1 mbps of download speed, latency increases and sometimes it doesn't even work at all. I did this speed test right next to the router while playing a song:

With bluetooth on it is impossible to stream a video without constantly buffering. I did the same test on my phone and my laptop and both are ok. My router doesn't support 5 GHz, but I read that it doesn't fix the problem for people with the same issue on other devices.
Edit: And don't forget that this tablet doesn't have a 3.5 mm headphone jack (a really stupid decision if you ask me), so it push you to go wireless and this is what you get.........
I have the m5 10" version and I have the same. About 0.5MB at a 5Ghz network while listening to some music. Get around 5-10MB with Bluetooth disabled.

It's not just my unit then, must be a bad design of the antennas or whatever I guess, great. Because I don't think it could be fixed with a software update, right?
This is unacceptable to me, I'm going to return it. Now the problem is what tablet buy next. What other choices are there? IPad, I don't like Apple; Samsung Tab S2 is kinda old; S3 too expensive...... damn it.

I have the M3 and just tried it. With Bluetooth on I get less than 1 mbps down while streaming, just under 5 mbps with no streaming. With Bluetooth off I get 155 down on my 5ghz wifi. Damn. I usually use my phone for music.
The mediapad M3 has this issue also, it just crawls when using wifi and Bluetooth.

Ok, I'll give you some numbers.
Huawei M5 playing a song through bluetooth:
M5 bluetooth off (I know, my internet connection sucks):
Nexus 5x playing a song through bluetooth:
Nexus 5x bluetooth off:
Can you see the difference??
I know that if a lot of devices are connected at the same frequencies there is going to be interferences and the speed is going to drop (notice the minor hit in the Nexus). But the case with the M5 is not normal, must be a bad design. It makes wifi almost useless. And there are 2 replies that have test it in a 5 GHz wifi and the problem persist.

Man. I gave up bluetooth headphones a long time ago. Just search the internets for this problem. You have enough to a week. The general answer for this question is change router channel or get a 5ghz router.

Again?? Did you not read that a 5 GHz router doesn't fix it? This thing is broken.
Give up bluetooth headphones on a device that doesn't have a 3.5 mm jack, great. And no, that stupid usb to jack adaptor it's not a proper solution to a problem that shouldn't even exist in the first place.
The tablet is going back to the store next week.

Again. Google it. Its not a problem related to this device. Its all over the internet. Every OS and lots of devices. Maybe some devices dont suffer as much from the problem but this is definitely not a problem related exclusively to this device.

I just realized that I didn't test with no Bluetooth.
No Bluetooth - 160 down 12 up

It looks like Bluetooth improves download speed. ?

Unbelievable..... Last time I reply to this.
I have tested my family's phones, a Xiaomi Redmi 3s and a Xiaomi Redmi 4 Pro, and both under the same conditions give me around 9 mb/s:
So let's compare numbers:
Nexus 5x - 12 mb/s
Both Xiaomi (budget phones) - around 9 mb/s
Huawei M5 - around 0.6 mb/s (tested multiple times, it never gets more than 0.8)
The M5 is more than 10 times slower. Do you get it now? Yes, none of them get the maximum speed when bluetooth is on, but only one becomes extremely slow.
Ok, those are the hard numbers, but what about real life usage? Well, the M5 is so slow that browsing the web is a pain in the ass, web pages with lots of images takes forever to load, and it is impossible to watch a hd youtube video because it's constantly buffering. None of this happens on the other devices. Do you see the problem now??

Thanks. A demonstration that it can be done right.
this is really sad to see. there are so few tablets to choose from, and even less if you want hd screens and latest gen hardware. this one looks great on paper, but reading in here is a complete disappointment.
it does not take a rocket scientist to notice the speed problem, and anyone that says "well dont use bluetooth!" if they cant make them play nice (which they do fine on other hardware, at least well enough to use both at the same time without noticing an issue) they should not have even put bluetooth on the device.

I hope ppl staying saying ALL android has this problem, the problem with my M3 is wifi is nearly unusable when blutooth is on. And pls stop misleading huawei tablet users 5ghz will be better. IT DOESNT HELP. I have owned many android ( samsung note3, note5, xiaomi, even entry lenovo tablet n nvr had one with wifi problem with blutooth on. I am using m3 and even 5ghz is below 1mbps for download with blutooth on. If u have sim version u should check from time to time.. It is slow extremely slow compared to other device using the same sim. I have given up. By the way my problem is only for download, upload tests are ok with wifi n sim.

Bluetooth headphone problem during PUBG squad match.

Hey guys, I'm new here. Thought I'd come to you guys since Mi doesn't seem too enthusiastic about answering me.
When I Play PUBG with my JBL T450BT Bluetooth headphones, it works just fine. But when I turn on the mic for a squad match, it plays on both my headphones and device or goes quiet altogether. The headphones come with built-in mic so I don't see where the problem is. Am I missing something? Am I the only one with this problem? Thanks in advance.
i have this issue on my mi max, poco and my good old Mipad 1...
It will work ok if u never allow/enable mic in the game.
you can try disable the mic in the app setting and see it yourself.
I think i due to MIUI where when the bluetooth connection is shared like earphone + speaker or even bluetooth teethering + earphone.
Maybe it reduce the quality to make the connection more stable.

BTW you can set the Bluetooth earphone to media only and disable phone option in order to get good sound quality but no mic.
