I am having the same issue. It's fine if you toggle the speakerphone while the call is still ringing before it connects, but once it does, and if you weren't on speakerphone already, it definitely mutes all sounds so that even the other caller can't hear you and also you can't hear them. Very weird issue. I wonder what we have in common though? I'm on AT&T, what carrier are you on?

sounds like a bug that should be reported to asus

I am having an issue with my Bluetooth headset doing the same route of thing. Several calls I start with the Bluetooth headset on but start the call using the phone and not the headset and it says the Bluetooth is connected, but when the person picks up, no sound, I have to toggle it to another speaker and back to the Bluetooth.

i notice that if you are running the phone with one SIM only and second sim is deactivate and u make call the speakers will reduce in volume to 50% and the problem is that the speakers will act very week and to solve that u have to restart your phone and speakers will return to normal loudness after that which is strange !!!!
but in other hand if ur 2 SIM are active then u make a call nothing will happen and the speakers will work just fine !!!
so i think the problem is from the dialer or SIM network manager which i have bug and need some software tuning

I confirm the same issue. Here the deatils:
-if the calling start you are unable to switch from phone to speacker beacuse you loose the conversation. Even if you turn it back to phone
- if you enable the speacker before the other person answer, then it works. Try it!
It's for sure a sw bug...hope they fix it soon

Noticed the same thing. Quite bugged by it, actually.
Waiting for a fix =P

Has anyone reached out to ASUS on this issue?

Must have a newbie, maybe try again later.
I've haven't tried, but maybe their forum for the phone is better?

Edit: nm.. I see you have already posted there

I got am RMA # so I have 2 weeks to decide to return this phone or not....
The Huawei Mate 20 Pro 8G/128GB is looking mighty good right now.
---Update---
So I decided to update the firmware to Version WW-15.1616.1809.48. The speakerphone works fine. Switch over to speakerphone while in the call and my opposing party still heard me and I could hear her. Switch back over to headset, works fine too.

Where did you find the firmware? If i try to find it from the phone settings it say it's the latest version. Is there a tool to flash a new firmware?

Just follow the instructions

Click on "See All Download" to view CN and older version

I'm glad the update fixed this. You wouldn't know by reading the description of the update. I hope they fix all the firmware issues soon. Besides the glass back, are there any other hardware issues? What I like most about the phone is the display and front facing speakers. What do you think of them?

The back is slippery AF! .... The hardware is really good, it's the software that needs a LOT of work. Do note the LED notification indicator is a RED/Orange/Green only. Because their firmware doesn't remap colors not supported to either Red/Orange/Green, apps like Snapchat and FB Messenger won't get a blinking LED. Again another software issue.
I love this screen hands down one of the best. I wish there are more HDR apps for it. Love to watch some of my HDR movies on it; YouTube HDR video plays HDR. I have yet put my spectrometer to see how accurate the DCI3P 108% claim is.
The front firing speaker is actually pretty good. I had an HTC 10 awhile ago, and I think these are a lot better.
I still haven't actually put the DAC to the test yet. I own a pair of Audeze LCD-3 for reference listening. Maybe this weekend I will. (not even sure if the internal 3.5mm amp have enough juice to drive the Audeze LCD-3)

I know this is going off topic, but I was wondering if when you test the DAC can you test the front facing speakers to see if true L/R Stereo?

they are true L/R Stereo. It also stay L/R correctly depending if you are at 90 or 270 degrees. But that's with the chrome browser, haven't tried an audio app if it will stay true L/R when turned 90/270
I used this to test the front facing speakers

SE HBH-IS800 Bluetooth headset...FREEZED!

Hi all,
it's the second time I ran in this problem:
all of sudden my HBH-IS800, full charged and paired to my HD, got freezed.
I found it with white light on, the one near the BT receiver, and there was no way to turn it off or restart it, completely freezed. The only way to have it work back was to connect it to the charger. After this input, it started to work again.
What could be related to this problem???
I bought it on Expansys. Please can someone confirm that on Action key there is any SonyEricsson logo as reported on official image? Mine has no logo.

I read about the possibility to buy fake SE product which suffer of the problem i described in previous post.
Mine doesn't have the logo
I bought mine from mobilefun.co.uk, and it doesn't have the logo either.
I'm confident that it's not a fake (the fact that it's such a small BT headset and obviously so technically advanced would make it very difficult to fake so quickly)
I haven't had the freeze error that you describe, so I can't help, but I am very pleased with the headset - quality is much better than I thought would be possible from a BT headset (as long as you remember t disable hands-free in the options)
Good luck
Pete
I bought some from the Sony Ericsson flagship store (aka Carphone Warehouse) in London. They worked OK but I didn't realise at first that there should have been spare earbuds in the box, which were missing. (The box had been slightly broken open.)
Because they did not have replacement stock when I returned, I insisted on a refund (this was extremely hard work to obtain).
I bought a replacement from mobilefun.co.uk. These also work fine and thankfully came with the full compliment of accessories.
Neither headset had the Sony Ericsson printing on the "microphone bulge" like your photo, and neither exhibited any freezing. I'm certain they are genuine.
Difficult to say whether yours is definitely a headset fault or the phone. Have you had a chance to try any other bluetooth headsets?
- Steve
Can i just ask how you got your refund? When i ask and i'm given a no, I don't know what to say from there!
The question of refunds on the headset is a tricky one.
To be fair to the seller, they mentioned at the point of sale that they did not refund headsets unless they were faulty, for hygeine reasons. Fair enough.
But in my case, the "package" was indeed faulty; parts were missing.
Of course I could not actually prove that. I could merely show them the slightly damaged box.
No store manager was not present when I visited, and the salesman was polite and fairly sympathetic, but explained that he could not refund the headset without his manager's authority. He phoned the manager, who outright said "no".
I was well aware of my legal rights in this case, so I told the salesman that I was entitled to a refund and would, if necessary, refer the store to trading standards or take further action to get it. I appreciate the salesman was now in an awkward situation. Eventually he suggested that I call their head office directly, and kindly offered use of their landline for me to do that. I asked for their customer relations department, and after explaining the situation, authorisation for the refund was eventually given from them.
i wonder if there is anyone who hasnt had a bad experience with carphone warehouse... :/

To revive this thread. I've had mine for 2 months, and the above described problem happened to me twice. Just for the record.
just got one of these on order...haven't heard much about this freezing issue, I imagine it is not a problem effecting all models based on the lack of results on the internet.
Guys im planing on buying that headset!
But a friend of mine with an iphone clames that it only works with Sony E phone propebly!
That it works with his iphone but he cant reduce tha volume or change it!
So dose it work good with the HD2 ?

It works with the HD, I've used it for some while. You can reduce the volume by using the volume keys on the HD.

weird i just bhought mine is800 4 days ago..i cant start that thing anymore...its charged to max..green light is on...
by any chance does anyone know where you can get replacement earpiece for this set. the regular sony earpiece doesn't fit these headsets
Also have the freeze problem with the light on.
Hi,
Very late to the game but brought these 3 years ago and really only used it hard in the last 6 mo.
I also have the freeze problem on the HBH-IS800 with SE Xperia X1i on a cooked Touch-it ROM off xda-developers.com. This happens every other day, and seems to always happen after finishing a call. This seems to be triggered by a certain combination of them hanging up, me hanging up, hang up via the phone, or hang up via the action button. However I can't reproduce it at will.
I will try to turn off "hands free" in the option suggested above to see if it'll get better.
In the mean time this freeze problem is only documented here and reviews on Amazon doesn't have anyone complaining about this. I love my ROM and thank the one who cooked it but may I suggest possibility of the problem being in the HTC cooked ROMs?

[Q] Why is the headphone output on my handset so low?

Can anybody help me work this out? I can't understand why the volume output is so low on my Galaxy S2. At full volume with all the equaliser bands at maximum, i still find music being drowned out by normal street traffic. I've tried several sets of headphones, different music apps and the Volume Boost and Equalizer apps and the result is always the same. As a (completley subjective) mode of reference, my Galaxy S2 with max volume and maximized EQ settings seems to be around 60% of the volume of my old iPhone 3G with normal EQ settings.
I'm having a really difficult time working out if this is just completely subjective and this is actually normal for a Galaxy S2 or if my handset is defective. I don't have access to anybody else with a Galaxy S2 for comparison's sake and it's difficult to rely on opinions on the internet because people's perceptions of what is "loud" vary greatly. So I've got two questions:
1. Is there a way to definitively measure the maximum volume output of my Galaxy S2 and compare against other handsets? I've a sound card with a line in and a minijack-minijack cable so I'm assuming this technically possible with this equipment. Does anybody else with a Galaxy S2 have figures I can compare mine wth?
2. I'm in the EU. I've read that EU restrictions have been planned to restrict maximum headphone volumes on PMPs but I can't find anything saying that these have actually been implemented. If they have, I assume they can be bypassed by fiddling around in ServiceMode or by installing custom ROMs. Can anybody point me in the right direction of how to do this?
Sorry if this is a little bit nooby - this is actually driving me completely bonkers because I can't work out if it's all just in my head when nobody else I see on here seems to think this is an issue! Thanks.

i have a easy solution for u... visit your GP or simply clean your ears..if thats wont work then come back. - just a funny recipe - dont take it personaly.
there is no restriction as far as i know. and my headset is extremly loud, so it may be only you or simple fault of your device. check out other headset (headphones) and if there will be problem u may found few programs on android market...
Audiomanager
Volume Master
Sound Manager
Spark Audio Profiles
and much more mate. i hope u will find a solution for u....
The EU volume restrictions have definitely been implemented, at least on the Sandisk Sansa Clip+. If you select Europe as your region on that device you get a fraction of the volume you would for other regions.
I'm unsure if that's what's going on with the SGSII though. I agree the volume isn't the best but I don't find it terrible. I only find it a problem when music/videos have a low volume to begin with, in those cases it would really benefit from a gain setting.
You might want to check the audio hardware analysis thread in the general section. There might be an explanation in it. In the meantime if it's bothering you, and you don't want to send back the phone, you could buy a portable headphone amp. I use the Fiio E5 with my PC which has dismal volume. It's £14.11 on Amazon.

Its the same for many other galaxy s2 owners, many threads complaining about this issue, not much you can do. Samsung dropped the ball on the audio side for this device.

Thanks for the info but I can't really find any threads from people complaining about media volume - it just seems to be people complaining about in-call volume which I believe is defined separately, right? (If you could point me in the direction of these threads I'd really appreciate it). From what I've read on here, others have no problems with their SGS2 audio volume - see here for example. If my handset is defective there is something I can do - return it and demand a replacement.
I ran Right Mark Audio Analyser using a test signal - do these results look normal?

multiple people in this thread claim low music volume thru headphones (the preliminary audio thread):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1053978
and then there are multiple random short threads where people say they cant listen to music because street noise bleeds in and the volume doesnt go loud enough. sorry i dont have those links, but i've read it just in the last few days, plus over the last month or so. i dont know the terms to search for those posts, but i did just read one about 2 days ago.
I was going to mention this today,
I'm using poweramp and dsp manager.
no improvements
Just thought i'd mention that studio headphones require more juice to run compared to in ear plugs. I'm not sure what kind of headphones you're using but if you're using big fat studio headphones you might wanna try smaller in ear's to see if that is an improvement. Just my two cents.
I have my volume on Media set to 15 (max) when listening to music/video.
I have Sony in the ear headphones too, and it is fairly loud, but not as loud as I like it to be.
This reminds me of my iPod touch which was set to 83% of its maximum output thanks to the bloody EU (because of French). Luckily jailbreaking it and editing the file that restricted it sorted the issue out.
Lets hope that a similar hack occurs soon here.
I have the same problem too..audio is very very low when using headphones....has anything been done to this effect?
I am facing the same issue.Has this problem been solved with custom roms ? im running stock KG6.
Try maximizing volume in mp3 (lvl15) then pause the music and make a phone call with head-phones.
Let me know if it makes a difference.
Because for me it does.
Low volume in mp3-player results in low volume calls.
High volume in mp3-player results in high.volume calls. At least for me.
Edit: ah ffs, I didn't read well! Sundaymorning here! Lol.
Still: story is for people experiencing low volume calls during headset-use.
And now.. I need some coffee

I was having the exact same problem, none of my music had any 'punch' and it was seriously winding me up.
I use PowerAMP and tries all the volume hacks I could find, all they succeed in doing was distorting my music beyond listenable levels. I tried switching ROM until I flashed VillanROM... all of a sudden, boom, its back to normal, music all sounds great and the volume is back to normal....
Now, I have no idea if its the ROM or something I did previously regarding volume hacks, just thought I'd let you know.
Hope it helps (even a little)

perhaps someone should email samsung directly...i'll try and find an email address.

I am having the same problem I,e low volume both by speakers as well as headphones.
Has samsung changed this between Kernels by any chance? Post your FWs and see if you find any patterns there.
As mentioned before ear buds have a different impedance as enclosed headphones on my Galaxy S i have to turn it down with ear buds in.
But with going to gingerbread i noticed the 5.1 surround sound had altered on buds its fine on normal headphone on a bass song its horrid
so they do mess around with stuff
you guys have to stop recommending this phone if it has such a huge unsolved and ignored problem such as this. I just picked one up and surprise surprise, I can't freaking use it to listen to music or make calls because of this headset volume bug.
Worse is, nobody has solved it. Every thread goes dead. Yet i still see this phone being recommended as the iphone killer and as being the best phone of 2011.
Seriously, what's up? Have people found a solution that causes them to be able to recommend the phone? Cause it's unrecommendable with this problem.
@madmax Dude.. We're here to help solving problems.. If you came here to complain, please go.
I don't think people (who are willing to troubleshoot almost all problems) will appreciate your attitude.
So, instead of complaining you could've asked nicely.
Don't like it? Ditch the phone! No one forced you to buy it!

[TIP][ROOT] System Volume Boost

Typical Sammy... 'she can cook, but she's not a looker'. That is to say, Samsung typically makes devices chincy to the eye and mostly feel- and the SGS2 is no exception. But, the guts tend to be top notch.
In this case, though, they sure as hell got the audio all wrong too. I have a hard time hearing (on and off speaker), and people often have a difficult time understanding me (I do mumble). The phone has a severely weak, or limited (whether by hardware, software, or both) volume level. This includes jack, loudspeaker, and earphone.
Problem solved-
At first, I tried playing with the DSP Manager (happened to be built right into CM7), but got far from perfect results, often leading to distortion and noise.
Behold, the AudioBoost SGS2 app specifically for the SGS2 (duh). It did the trick, and totally revived the phone as a viable music player for me. Note: 90% of the music out there will get an optimal boost (distortion-free) when set to 80 (headphones via jack and loudspeaker- did not test through external amp). Above that, depending on the music, you will likely get some distortion, especially on the lows.

I listen to quite a bit of music. My 4th gen Nano pumped out some serious db's relatively speaking. Also, having just come from the Blackberry camp didn't help either (which typically score well in the volume department).
Despite my criticism, I love the phone.
Hope this helps out some 'hard-of-hearing' folk out there.
I have to say this IS a very good app for GS2 users. Volume+ doesn't work on stock ROMs but this works miracles.

Is this ad for paid app?
Paid only. $2.60.
Just saw your signature.... Haha, looks like we both got started on the T610!
What a great phone it was
I'd use it again.

Any more thoughts on this? Does this app drain battery?
this app keeps "boosting" the volume setting at a given interval. If you lower the interval is might not boost the volume at the "right" moment, and it ends up having this effect of low and then sudden high volume.
And of course if you set the interval to very short, it starts to eat up CPU cycles. This is to me NOT a solution.. but a mickey-mouse "fix".

I use it only when listen to music. Has no noticeable effect on performance or battery.

It IS solution! Why? Because it solves my problem. Definitely somewhat mickey-mouse, as I also would rather have a permanent, built-in solution.
However, there is no alternative as far as I know. For now, this works wonders. It WORKS. And does it without any noticeable "side-effects".
any galaxy note variant?
Does this work for in call earpiece volume on he official ICS release?

Nice find. I've been using another app for the same reason (Voodoo Louder) but I might give this a try

In the box:
1 bluetooth dialer phone
1 headphone
1 AC charger
1 User Guide
Price: HK$350 ~ US$45 (as of 13/6/2012)
Confirmed the dialer works perfectly with Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 3G+WiFi version. Pairing and phone book synchronizing can be done painlessly by pressing one-button.
You can take calls and talk without a headset plugged in, as if it is a mini-phone. Also, you can dial out with the keypad even when the SGT7.7 is screen-locked. Of course, you can use it as a bluetooth headset to listen to music with the headset plugged in.
However, I found the following few glitches after a few trials:
1) Sometime the device would turn off without warning. You would miss call when you didn't realize that
2) The ringtone is horribly loud and unpleasent, and cannot be changed, so I have to turn it off. Fortunately, it still has vibration for incoming calls notification
3) There is no explicit indicator for missed calls in the main screen. I have to check the SGT7.7 or dig deep into the menu of the device for missed calls
I bought it in Hong Kong for HK$350 ~= US$45, but I have seen in a Chinese trading website that it's sold for just RMB168 ~= US$26 online. You might not be able to find such an offer outside China, but you may take it as a reference.
Hope this might be helpful to those who are looking for a bluetooth dailer for their SGT7.7.
thank you for introducing this device. i would rather have a bluetooth mini phone dialer instead of wearing a bluetooth headset on my ear.
i was able to order on ebay for $37 with shipping and im looking forward to using it.
could either of you guys post links to the dialers?
thx.

Yes, the reception is not good, but at least better than talking to my tab directly.
Sometime when the tab was busy running background processes, the dialer would be failed to pick up in-coming call signal. What you do in this situation is the quickly unplug the headphone from the dialer and plug it into the tab to answer a call.
Sometime the tab doesn't respond to the dialer at all. I don't know that has happened but I can still use the tab to dial and talk via this dialer.
In conclusion, I can't say this is a very stable device to replace the phone function, but it is essential for my tab as it is awkward to talk to the tab like a phone. However in your case I suggest you to talk to the Note directly rather than relying on this unstable device.
Just ordered this. I find myself in need of this type of solution considering its my phone and tab

I've had a real good experience with mine. I've had no reception problems with mine so far.
There maybe has been 2-3 instances when the tab didnt respond to the dialer ever since ive had it.
One great thing is the battery life on the thing is amazing.
Anyone tested Oricore MiniPAD A9 ?

LGV30+ in-call audio issue

I've recently purchased LGV30+ from Amazon India. And so far I love the phone.
I have issue in the mic i think. When ever I get call or I call others, people in the other end says that they can't hear me.
And I have this issue for most of the calls. The. I switch on speaker and then switch-off speaker. Then the issue will be fixed.
I had the same issue in my previous LG G6 aswell. Am I doing something wrong ?
I use Nova launcher and WhatsApp that's it.
It really annoying me so much. Any one help me here ? Is there something I'm doing wrong ? Or I got the faulty one ?

I have the same issue with my LG V30+. I didn’t try that trick with switching speaker on and off, but I will try. What I do is call again. It is really annoying when your mic suddenly goes off.
Did you find solution for the problem in the mean time?
Hi, I have the same problem with my V30+. The other party cannot hear but when I put the call on speakerphone or use the wired headset the issue of other party not listening to my voice goes away. I got my phone replaced by Amazon and received a new one today, only to find out that the problem persists in this new phone as well. I am really annoyed by this problem. I also reached to LG support centre on KH road, Bangalore and told about this issue, all he did was moved the phone to factory version of software and that did not help resolve the problem. This will be my second replacement with Amazon. If any of you find a solution to the in-call problem please let me know at 9341419140

Had same issue with my phone
Low call volume.
Hey guys there is a simple fix for the low in call volume. Use your drop down menu and you should see something that is called calling plus. Toggle it and BAM volume fixed. It works with WiFi and LTE. Hope this helps guys.
Which drop down menu? Can you be more specific. Not able to find any setting like that. Thanks in advance.
Call sounding muffled
My wife and I both have V30+s and have experienced this or close to the same problem. Phone calls sound muffled on the callers end. The receiver can not hear the caller. Sometimes when calling any number the phone seems to try to use the speaker for the call ((the on on the bottom of the phone not the top) (and no i/we don't have the speaker button activated)). When the sound comes out the loud speaker it sounds muffled and robotic.
Frustrating
Yes have got same issue service center at Rajkot kept my handset for a month and returned with all ok remark but still after getting call from someone or calling someone microphone remains mute for initial 2 seconds than person at other end starts hearing what I speak and than suddenly again it goes mute. I am tired and frustrated by approach by LG service center

Calling Plus is a Sprint thing that has been known to mess up your audio. Other carriers don't have that.
For other people, look for the Voice Clarity setting. (search for "Clarity" in Settings) Turn it off or on -- see which is better for you personally. See attached screenshot.
