Restore wi-fi saved networks from google - Huawei Mate 20 Pro Questions & Answers

In all infos on phone it says that if you enable auto restore in Settings => System => Backup & Restore that it should restore saved wifi networks from google backup, but it dose not. Tryed also to toggle auto restore, but still no luck. Did anyone make that sync work?

All my wifi networks were pulled down from Google when i setup my phone.

Never use setup a as new device or you wont be able to pull anything down afterwards. I remember reading it on a google thing once that only when you setup the phone it has to be installed from the google Backup. In saying that i did setup via Phone clone which was useless and when that finished it did ask me if i wanted to install from Google Backup. All other phones I've used only let you do it once.

If you reset your phone back to new then start again it will ask you if you want to pull from the backups.

No not at all, I had an S8+ as my last phone. Cracked my screen and had to get it replaced, i used my old S5 while it got fixed and also Motorola Maxx. The thing i did find out was when i used my Moto (Kitkat) it didn't find the S8+ backup. Same thing with the S5 it only showed me the Moto back up. But when i got my S8+ back it had the Moto, S5 the old S8+ Backup. When i got my Mate 20 Pro it showed me 2 x S8+backups, S5 and Moto backup. E.g S8+ 28 oct backup and also 9 Nov Backup.
So you should have the old back up still there. The only thing i found was that if you have older version of Android you can't use newer version to pull backups from.
Hope this helps.

Isn't it exactly reversed - you cannot recover a backup from a newer version than your restoring to ?

Yes sorry mind fart. Old Phone Android 8 backup -> Android 8 or 9 will see it and ask if you want that one but you can't see Android 8 Backups on Android 7 Phone.

Still it's so strange that you can't restore only wifis from some tool

The only way i found was with droidkit, a program only available for computer. The second solution is reseting the phone and recover the old backup, but first backup your current data.

Stock Nandroid Image

If anyone needs a stock nandroid image (with root),
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=YWQJRO90
There is no need to flash this unless you messed up or just want to go back to stock (with root).
instructions:
DO NOT install it as update.zip . you are supposed to unzip the file after you download it and place the folder called 2010-09-21.18.31.12 in /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup then you boot into cwm and goto backup and restore -> restore -> 2010-09-21.18.31.12
what is this nandroid ? stock image ? i mean im new to android and i keep seeing nandroid but im not sure what it does
+1 thanks easier then using oden

Nandroid makes a complete backup of your phone, all your data, apps, everything. It's like it takes a snapshot of your phone, and when you restore it your phone will be back to the exact state of when you made the backup.
The image i posted will take your phone back to what it was like when you pulled it out of the package, except with root. In order to use nandroid, you have to flash the cwm kernel and install the recovery for your phone through rom manager.

yeah, you will have to put the information for your gmail account back in, restore anything from titanium. It's completely stock, it has no user infomation on it.

Ok, so I am getting my Fascinate tomorrow (can't wait by the way). I have been cruising the forums doing my research before I attempt to root, flash CWM recovery, etc. I am completely unfamiliar with with using Odin, but have used nandroid via Amon's recovery on my Droid Eris (which is running Froyo by the way).
Here's my question: how do I apply this image? Do I have to be rooted first, or can I go ahead and apply this zip and never have to fool with Oden? I just want to be sure I don't make a mistake. Eris development was firmly established by the time I arrived on the scene, so I have not had to worry about these kinds of things. Sorry if this seems like a noob question?

nope, the update is not compatible with root right now. Wait for a dev to release the root friendly vzw update.

follow this:

I really appreciate the prompt response. I think I am going to wait until a dev develops a root friendly vzw update. Or I may go ahead and root and wait till then ..... decisions, decisions
I saw where you posted that some Sticky topics need to be compiled, wasupwithuman. I could not agree more. A couple more questions for you (maybe these will help someone else too) .... (1) How stable is CWM on the Fascinate? I read somewhere that it is a duct-taped together recovery that will do for now. Is this true??? (2) Should I just wait for a dev to develop a custom recovery (like Amon's on the Eris), or is CWM stable enough as it currently is? There seems to be some confusion about this from topic to topic. (3) This is unrelated, but has anyone confirmed Wireless Tether working on their Fascinate. I believe I read that it was somewhere else, but would like to know for sure. Thanks again!!!
P.S. - First link is down, but I found another guide on XDA and will probably just follow it (considering it uses adb which I am familiar with from my Eris).

[Q] Back to stock

Good night everyone I wanna return to stock my optimus g I used lgnpst but the phone freeze in AT&T logo if somebody help me that will be great
Sorry for my bad english its not my language Im still learning
Instructions say if it freezes at boot, then you have to let it restore to 100%, not just at the 68% when phone reboots.
Or you can just flash a nandroid, unless you want to remove toot and relock it? I have a TWRP nandroid of OTA I might be able to upload, its a big file.

Doing a factory reset when it hangs on boot after lgnpst usually works. It will wipe your though, any apps, photos, music, etc you have stored there. If you want try that power off phone then press volume down and power and hold both. It may take a few tries but a menu will come up for reset.

To expand on what to expect if you use stock/factory recovery. When wiping data/factory reset from stock recovery (vol down + pwr), you will just get a black & white ATT screen with factory reset/wipe data being your only option. Press volume up or down to exit or pwr button to wipe/restore.

Your English is fine. Maybe if you made a new backup with helium you would be able to see where it is stored on your phone. Then copy your old backup to that location.

Well I was messing up with, obviously, things that I didn't know about. Seems like Android tweaker 2 made my phone to this state. I was concerned that I have all backed up by Titanium backup but I was wrong. I backed up my apps, not system. I AM still concerned that I have backup somewhere, but no say I can find it in recovery (I navigate, search, etc., but no backup) Well my phone is Prestigio pap3400duo,running stock kernel, no custom ROM, didn't unlock the BOOTLOADER,. This happens to me for the second time in 3 days, I can't send my phone to repair again (it is rooted but they can't turn it on to see so they always repair it). I am ashamed to take it to store again ☺. only someone retarded can destroy his phone 2 times in 3 days.
Thanks in advance.

TWRP stuck wiping data.

Hello, I've been having an issue with my Samsung galaxy tab, I would like to install Cyanogenmod, but when I wipe the data with TWRP it gets stuck and after a time the device reboot automatically but the existing ROM isn't avaiable right now.
Also, if I try flashing the cyanogen ROM without wiping, I get stuck again. What should I do? Is there any solution?
Thanks in advance
Are you on the latest available version of TWRP for your device? Also, can you post your recovery.log? adb pull /tmp/recovery.log to get it

I actually have 3 Samsung Galaxy Tab (the 3 are the same model) in two of them I have wiped and installed the ROM witout any problem. But it doesn't work with the last one. Right now I can't post the log, as soon as I can I'll post it
Would it work if I do a Backup from my other Tablet and restore it in the "broken" Tablet?

As I said before, the first thing to try would be getting the latest TWRP on the problematic device (if you haven't already done that) and see if it helps. If it doesn't work then, you can try with the backup option you're talking about, but only if all of the devices are identical.

Titanium Backup restore only works in interactive mode

Titanium backup will only restore if I use interactive mode, although this is still easier than manually installing apps, and I of course appreciate my data being restore, I would very much like to be able to restore in auto direct mode.
Is there something I can do to make this work? When I try to use it, titanium backup just hangs on the first app.

You should have started with that! Android O is relatively new. So, maybe it's a bug that hasn't been fixed yet.
Also aren't you supposed to be using Moto G4 Plus help forum for this?

Sure! My apologies. Good luck fixing your problem.
I wonder what the devs are saying to this? I own Titanium Pro since about 5 years and have used it on 5 different phones, with sometimes stock OS and sometimes CM/LO. All phones where rooted and working, but Titanium restore never ever worked on a single phone, besides the pathetic interactive mode! I think it's fake..
It's a shame that there's no reliable backup solution for this **** Android OS at all.. it's just ridiculous!
