Greetings All,
So I am trying to get my wife's phone back to stock for our country (South Africa, was on custom UK) so I downloaded the new firmware for her phone through Xperifirm and followed this guide: http://www.xperiablog.net/2015/03/1...peria-lollipop-using-xperifirm-and-flashtool/ to get the bundle created and phone to flash however I have run into a problem. Below is the log output from Flashtool and I have no idea what is going and, as expected, it is now stuck in a boot loop.
How do I fix this?

Mine has been doing this aswell, same errror except on a C6906 Model (Xperia Z1) If the issue can be fixed for the Z2 it might work for the Z1.
Well I used PC Companion to fix the issue and will leave it with whatever software version is installed. I know it is Lollipop and I know it is 23.1.A.1.28 but I have no idea what country version lol.

i have z1c and i have excacly same issue as you, i have 242 LP and i want to install latest release 270 and i have same error as you. now i v already installed KK 157 and its works and i will try to install 270 LP on this KK ver i will post if this helped
i have installed KK without errors, but again download LP latest Baltic Generic and same thing happend now im downloading RU LP and see what will hapen
Just a heads up, apparently the problem is with Xperifirm and the way it creates/unzips the bundle. I saw on another post on XDA that if you use Flashtool internal downloader it will work fine.

Delete "fwinfo.xml" file in the directory where Xperifirm downloaded the FW files. Then bundle it again using Flashtool. Problem solved! :good:

what if the firmware was not downloaded from xperifirm, i have a friend who is using a firmware from the middle-east he want to downgrade, and he is getting the same error, is xperifirm able to extract other ftf files so he can delete that file from it?

hi, change ftf file to the zip, then open it with winrar and search for "fwinfo.xml" and delete it. close the file and change to ftf and flash it.good luck.:good:

there is no fwinfo.xml in my ftf but still fail

Delete "fwinfo.xml" file in the directory where Xperifirm downloaded the FW files. Then bundle it again using Flashtool. Problem solved! :good:

I have the cell since February, and recently is presenting a very strange behavior. when I'm going to make a call, changes from 3G to 4G and ndoen't allow me to make the call. while I'm browsing or using an app in 4g does not have any problem, but when it switch to 3g doesn't let me do anything.
I have already attempt recovery software with companion and not achieve anything. when I turn on the phone, it reaches the Sony logo and shutsdown.

Hello All,
Starting from, my xperia was stuck in a boot loop so after refering to internet I tried to repair my xperia by xperia pc companion. Everthing was going fine first initializing & then repairing part.....during repairing part when it was almost 70% completed error occured namely "software update failure". If someone has done it before then would know that when we reach repairing section led light turns green now what happens since that failure has occured whenever I connect my xperia to pc it directly turns to green light, when I press power button it doesnt go beyond sony logo & also pc is not detecting my phone....If anyone could help i would be glad.

hmm. have you tried to re download it or try other country's rom?
also with the pc companion software update failing have you tried re installing it?
have you made some software changes like root or unlocking bootloader or something?

I have tried repaired with companion but it was the same result. I haven't made any other changes, the phone is with the original software.

This time you have no choice (i think) you have made every possible way so.. you have to go to the store were you bought it and tell them the problem.

Hi, I was wondering how I would go about going back to a stock, unrooted ROM for the Z2? I don't know how to go through the hassle of bypassing games/apps that check for root. Are there custom ROMS that are unrooted?

I checked the wipe options on before flashing
Retry.
dont use your computer while flashing the ftf. this happens to me if im using my pc

When I press the power button, the display lights up but nothing display.
When I connect charger the notification LED doesn't work.
I use Xperia Companion but phone still doeasn't work :/

I try reset button, but my m4 is still bricked.

There seems not to be specific info on how to Flash the US to UK on an F5121 Xperia X. It took me a few days to work it all out, but here goes, explicitly for the other nub's:
1) Use Flashtool (0.9.23.2 as of current).
2) Replace x10Flasher.jar with patched ver. (I ended up finding this through a google search).
3) Once replaced, you can create bundles.
4) In Windows 10, at search bar type "advanced startup". Go and hit Restart button.
5) during reboot got to troubleshooting. go and hit restart. then option #7, to disable driver enforcement. It restarts.
6) Once rebooted, go into Flashtool folder and find sub-folder "drivers". Load "flashtool-drivers".
7) Once that started selected the 2 top ones "flashmode" and "fast boot". let it run and now "Google WinX" and "Sony drivers" should have Green checks next to them. No red X.
8) Run XperiaFlash and go grab the ROMs you want. I grabbed both and customized UK and EU1. 1302-3903_34.2.A.2.47.
9) Go to "C:\Users\(your user account)\.flashTool\devices.
10) Find your Device - model dir "F51XX"
11) Inside this folder go to your copy the file "34.2.FSC". This is assuming your are running US version updated to current ver as of date - 34.2.A.2.47. Copy that FSC file into the Customized UK folder downloaded via XperiaFlash (#8)
12) Go back to Flashtool and go to Tools/Bundles/Create.
13) Select that UK ROM folder. Find your phone by dbl clicking next line, copy title "Customized UK", copy "13# to end" . Copy over files to right side via Arrow key. Hit create. (see other guides for this really)
14) Now when you go to Lightning bolt and Flashmode, select that burned ROM. It will have the FSC already inside, so everything will process. navigate down to yoru ROM. Select "EXCLUDE TA" all options in bottom right quadrant. All other stay un-checked.
15)Start FLASH. Wait until prompt to plug in your turned off XperiaX holding down Vol Down key.
16) Takes long time to run, and you think it wont boot up. But it did finally. THEN it wants to reboot to "optimize" Network.
17) Finally, once re-booted, your US X now has Fingerprint Manager in the Security settings.
The ONLY thing I notice now is my signal bars are LOW, like maybe little 1 of the 5. BUT it still makes calls. So not worried. I have not tried to see if LTE (or 4G as it reads) is degraded. It "seems" OK after the few min testing so far.

I went thru this recently. Struggled in replacing the jar file ( Flashtool ) in order for it to create bundles. I flashed the latest UK customized ROM.
Once i replaced the JAR ... if i downloaded the firmware, it would create the bundle automatically for me.
I agree with the signal bars being very low... not sure this is normal, but there is an LTE connection (band 12 works for Tmobile).

After further testing:
I tried to flash EU, and that ended up soft bricking my phone on one of the .sin files ion the package. I freaked out. Then went and flashed UK again. All was right in the world. Nothing lost and all settings back. I might try to repackage EU and try again over weekend...
Regarding the bars, its only on 4G (LTE) that the bars are low. I dropped down to 3G profile and full bars. However, the speed of LTE makes up for having low bars. Its noticeably faster than 3G, so going to stay with that profile.
Moreover, I tried to create a new mobile APN using ATT Nextgenphone info. Still didnt fix low bars. So I am sticking with it doesn't really matter. For now.
Finally, the fingerprint reader on here is unbelievable. I kept thinking its just not locked. I try other fingers and it surely is locked. But just a slight half arsed press of thumb or index finger and its unlocked. Beats my old iPhone hands down.

I did none of that bootloader unlocking or anything.
I got an X last week - awesome deal at B&HPhoto. Connected right off to Xperia Companion and let it update the phone like 5x to latest firmware. Went from MM out of the box all the way up to Nougat and latest firmware (34.2.xxxx). Used the phone for a few days and set up everything. Used face unlock.
After I got that all set, I flashed to UK.
Just follow the guide and you should be set. Use the F5321 folder to grab the latest firmware from in XperiaFirm and the fsc hidden in .flashtool/device folder.
OH, I also backed up my phone in Xperia Companion before flashing to UK. I have no idea if that could fix a bricking but what the hell. And also I grabber the Customized US firmware just in case.
But UK is working still. Only thing I have going on is Im not getting VMs to show up. I have no idea if thats related to my new phone, at&t, or the flash to UK. Haven't had time to call AT&T yet. or troubleshoot it
Just did this last night. I didn't need to do steps 11-14, as flashtool created the ftf file on its own. I also didn't update it to the latest US software before flashing and it didn't cause a problem. I'm having the same issue with the signal bars being very low, but otherwise it's great. I tested voicemail and it works fine. There's also a really nice tutorial over at xperiablog.net. I'd post a link but I'm at work and it's blocked.

I've been trying to do this for days, and I think I've found a solution but I'm a little concerned about doing it.
The phone is an X Compact. The .fsc I found is labelled 34, not 34.2. The firmware, of course, is 34.2.
I added the .fsc to the files then created the bundled and did a "simulation" flash. I got this:

Sorry, I do not know about the X Compact.
***UPDATE***
Sony tried to push the new firmare update (34.2.A.2.69) via OTA. Since I was on UK R7C for fingerprint, I have declined the nag screens. So took the time this afternoon to update to CE1 ver .69.
I stuck the 34.2.fsc in the downloaded folder of the firmare pulled out of ver 5.00 Xperifirm. And ran flashtool and bundled up new package. Powered off phone and ran the flash by excluding TAs. Connected holding vol down when prompted. Flash started and took like 10 min to complete.
Phone rebooted and I'm completely updated just fine. fingerprints all still intact.
I confirmed on phone I'm .69 R6C CE1. No issues and no lost info. In fact, now I'm back to LTE in mobile info ver 4G of UK flash. Bars are bit low still... but meh.
So to recap, I used the same 34.2.fsc in the bundle for prev ver 34.2.A.2.47 and stuck in package of this new release of ver 69.
All is good.
Now once 7.1.1 gets released for Xperia X and ver 35.fsc comes out, hoping all still works as I wrote in post #1 above and next flash is seamless.

I'm curious why you do even mess around with the fsc files? I skipped that part of your instructions initially and it installed fine. Then I got the OTA this weekend and it installed fine. Why do you do this?

Without the fsc inside, it no workey for me... plan and simple.. Flashtool errors out and proceeds without applying the patch.
If you dont need it inside when you bundle, then you saved exactly 0.287690 minutes. Congrats. Again, YMMV
And OTA would be the US ver here in the USA. I dont want US ver as I enjoy using the Fingerprint Scanner to open, which is a feature that is missing in my handset being US spec. I figured if I took the OTA, then finger goes buh-bye! Hence the re-package of CE1 WITH the fsc inside. If you are saying you can OTA from UK/CE1 to US AND still keep the finger scanner, then please reply back with that lil time saver!

I can assure you the fingerprint scanner is still working post OTA. If the Customized UK firmware is installed, it's going to pull the Customized UK OTA, not the US OTA

I can assure you the fingerprint scanner is still working post OTA. If the Customized UK firmware is installed, it's going to pull the Customized UK OTA, not the US OTA

That is indeed a great shortcut. I had assumed that it would pull US regardless and not what ver you where running.
I switched from .47 UK to .69 CE1, so had to do it manually anyways... I also had to review my own OP to remind myself what to do.
It worked out great.

Does the switch to CE1 solve the signal bar issues?

It does! I have LTE shown and Im 3 bars solid. Under UK was barely showing 1 maybe 2 bars. Yesterday morning was the last straw when I noticed I only had H+ coverage.
I have consistent LTE now.

Oh, that's fantastic - any other issues or does everything else look good? What country/region is CE1?

I used CE1. No issues at all. Works better than UK IMO.

I flashed CE1 last night, and still have the signal bar issue. The only difference is it says "LTE" intead of "4G", but Open Signal shows the connection the same for both. I did dirty flash though so maybe I need to FDR.

I have consistently 3 bars here now at my office with LTE on. On UK, it was barely one bar. So not sure if its the flash that changed that or weather or whatever.
I have come across something else though. I keep dropping wifi 5g signal. My 2.4Ghz band seems to stay on constantly. But 5G I have to re-connect. Go to sleep.... wake up and LTE is on, no 5G signal. I did not notice this prior to flash. But thats not to say thats wasn't happening on UK either or something else entirely. Just noticed it yesterday afternoon and have been watching it now. We had some brown outs at the house that trashed my dual router, so it might be on that end too. More testing needed obviously.
***UPDATE***
The wifi was my router. I had to delete the profile on the phone and reboot a few times to clear it out. Now its reconnecting in 5G fine.
Phone still has more bars shown in LTE under CE1 than UK1.
Battery drain still sucks. Screen still chews up the mAh. My wifes Moto G5Plus does not have that issue at all. Reading interwebs seems its the Sony has issues. I just keep Stamina on ALWAYS. Maybe when 7.1.1 they come up with a "fix".

I haven't had any battery drain issues. I came from an Honor 8 and the X's battery life is far better despite it being smaller.
